BDAW Chapter 2

Let's just Walk in the Forest

It’s morning.
I stay still, hiding myself in the shade of a tree.
I hardly slept.

I’m glad I had my coat on.
I don’t know where I am, but the temperature is much warmer than Japan in winter.
If I curled up and wrapped myself in my coat, I can get enough warmth.

“. . . This is. . . a different world, isn’t it?”

Although it’s completely faded by the morning sun, two moons are floating in the sky.

My confused head finally calmed down after one night.
Let’s sort out the situation a little.
I stopped by a convenience store on my way home from work, and when I got home, I was in a forest in another world.

. . . . yeah.
I have no idea!

Could it be that I was spirited away or something like that?

“. . . Ah, that’s right. . . The convenience store bento.”

I’m hungry, so let’s eat anyway.
I take out the completely cold bento from the plastic bag and eat it.

“Uuu. . . I want to microwave it. . .”

I peck at the three-color minced bento.
To be honest, I didn’t really taste it.

“Okay. . . Anyway, let’s walk. . .”

I can’t stay like this forever.
After I finish eating, I stand up.
After brushing off my butt, I started walking through the forest.

“But it’s an amazing forest. . .”

I mutter without a care.
Somehow it doesn’t feel real.

A deep forest untouched by humans.
Large rocks covered with moss and trees so big that you can’t see the top.

If you compare it to the scenery in Japan, Yakushima may be close.
Although I have only seen Yakushima in pictures.

“I wonder if there’s a way to go back. . .”

I suddenly became worried.
I think of my mother and sister in Japan, and their two families.

Mother.
Eri-chan.

I shook my head to shake off my anxiety.
It can’t be helped even if I think about it now.

It’s such a situation.
First of all, it’s about myself.
I organize the current priorities in my head.

First, ensuring safety.
Second, securing food.
Third, securing a water source.

Anyway, let’s prioritize these three first.
Then I can think about the rest.

“Um. . . Securing food is. . .”

I’ve been finding nuts and mushrooms here and there since a while ago.
It seems to be a very rich forest.
But will I really be able to eat these?

As far as safety goes, it’s fine for now.
It’s been a while since I started walking, but I don’t feel any imminent danger.

“. . . For the time being, let’s find a water source.”

In the plastic bag was an empty convenience store bento and two cans of beer.
Beer does not provide hydration.
I wish there was a stream somewhere.

After walking around for a while, I heard the sound of running water.

It seems that I have successfully found a water source.
Relieved, I proceeded in the direction of the sound.

Pushing through the vegetation, I could see a stream with plenty of water, though not as much as a river.

“There it is! It’s beautiful, well. . . Wah. . .”

A large boar was standing there.
The expression that loosened after finding water quickly became a serious look.

“Bururu. . .”

The boar is looking at me.
Is it about 30 meters ahead?
But I get the illusion that it’s right in front of me.
Because this boar was as big as an elephant.

The gigantic boar is looking at me without averting its eyes.
I stare back at the monster in amazement.
It’s mouth is wet.
He may have been drinking from the stream.

“. . . Ah. . . I have to, run away. . .”

I take a step back.
In response, the boar took a step forward.
The sound of heavy footsteps echoes like the rumbling of the earth.

Hearing that, I turned my back and ran away like a rabbit.

A bento is a single serving lunch box.
