ICAWZ Chapter 103

ARC 3: Karma from past lives

After escaping from the hands of interstellar pirates in his previous life, Xu Cenfeng spent the remaining time in the hospital. He didn’t know what happened during that time, only that there were many soldiers standing guard with guns at his hospital room door every day. The treatment and care were meticulous in every aspect, but he couldn’t take a step outside the room.

During those long days, he gradually learned from the “human” medical staff about the rules of this unfamiliar world and also found out the reason why he couldn’t leave the hospital.

“Your Excellency, you are a precious pureblood male zerg, and we must ensure your safety.”

No matter whether it was doctors or soldiers, they always gave the same flat response.

Xu Cenfeng once thought he would stay in the hospital for the rest of his life until one day, a group of female zergs wearing black and gold military uniforms hurriedly arrived at the hospital. The leading officer had gray hair and green pupils, emitting a heavy aura of hostility. After barging into the ward, he frowned and scrutinized Xu Cenfeng, then coldly uttered two words: “Take him!”

Xu Cenfeng didn’t recognize the officer, but his identity must have been extremely prestigious. He heard the attending doctor respectfully address him as “Deputy Leader Yenia,” and their conversation faintly hinted at another zerg.

“Are you sure his blood purity is 100%…”

“Yes, Deputy Leader, but this gentleman seems to suffer from amnesia…”

“As long as he can emit pheromones, that’s enough. The leader’s psychic power has already begun to riot. I don’t have much time to waste!”

At that time, Xu Cenfeng still didn’t understand the purpose of the other party’s visit, nor could he grasp the obscure and incomprehensible terms like “pheromones” and “psychic power.” He was respectfully but firmly “invited” onto the aircraft by those armed female soldiers and was promptly taken to a luxurious residence.

Something must have happened in this residence; there was a tense atmosphere lingering in the air, and the living room was filled with soldiers on guard. A military officer paced anxiously on the second-floor corridor, occasionally peeking into the tightly closed doors, as if waiting for something.

Upon seeing this, Yenia immediately rushed upstairs in three quick steps, frowning as he asked, “Hawke, how is the leader?!”

Hawke couldn’t hide his concern, “Just now, we sent a male zerg in. His blood purity was only 50%, but it should be enough…”

Before he could finish his sentence, a loud crash was heard from the room, followed by a male zerg scrambling out, rolling and crawling. His face was pale, and he hastily closed the door tightly, turning to run downstairs, only to be grabbed by the collar and pulled back by Hawke, who exclaimed, “Didn’t I tell you to use pheromones to calm the leader?! Where do you think you’re going?!”

The male zerg was so frightened that his soul almost fled from his body. He vehemently resisted, shaking his head, “The Supreme Leader has gone mad! He wouldn’t let me get close at all. Please, I beg of you, send another male zerg over! I really dare not enter the room!”

Hawke’s face turned livid upon hearing this. Anger overcame his manners, and he raised his gun, ready to shoot the male zerg. “Damn you! If the Supreme Leader dies from a psychic power overload, I’ll be the first to end you! Get in there now!”

However, upon hearing this, the male zerg’s eyes rolled back, and he promptly fainted, slipping from Hawke’s grip like a noodle, collapsing to the ground like a sack of rotten mud.

Seeing this, Hawke was about to kick the male zerg awake, but Yenia swiftly intervened, “Stop, Hawke! If this one can’t do it, we’ll switch to another. Male zergs can’t release pheromones when they’re too frightened!”

Hawke’s chest heaved with anger, and he slammed his fist hard against the railing. “Then what do we do?! If we keep this up, the leader will surely die!”

Xu Cenfeng stood in the middle of the staircase, his fair complexion starkly contrasting with the group of dark female zergs. He keenly sensed the danger and instinctively wanted to escape this place. However, the female zerg called Yenia suddenly turned around, the light above his head glaring, unattainable. With just a few words, he effortlessly controlled his fate:

“Let that male zerg go. His blood purity is 100%, enough to calm the leader.”

Xu Cenfeng had some martial arts training, but it was insufficient to confront dozens of cold gun barrels. It seemed the soldiers were afraid he might resist, so they forcibly injected him with a sedative before pushing him into the pitch-black room.

“Click—”

The door was tightly locked, completely cutting off any possibility of Xu Cenfeng escaping, as if foretelling his fate with Faeus.

Inside the room was a soft, wide bed, accompanied by the sound of chains rattling. Xu Cenfeng then noticed a female zerg with red hair and green eyes locked to the bed. He was dressed in black military attire, with several buttons on his chest popped open due to his intense struggles. His tanned skin was covered in scars, resembling a dying struggling beast under the lamp light.

Upon seeing this, Xu Cenfeng’s pupils suddenly contracted, and he unconsciously took two steps back, his mind experiencing a momentary blank.

The female zerg lying on the bed seemed to detect a faint scent of pheromones in the air. His crimson eyes searched for the source of the smell in the darkness and accurately landed on Xu Cenfeng standing in the corner.

The shackles at the head of the bed, after a violent struggle, were already on the verge of collapse. Xu Cenfeng’s expression changed slightly as he immediately tried to kick the door and escape. However, to his dismay, the material of the door was incredibly sturdy, and no matter how hard he kicked, it remained steadfast.

Meanwhile, the sedative injected earlier seemed to take effect.

Xu Cenfeng felt a wave of heat rushing through his body, his limbs becoming weak and feeble. Suddenly, his throat constricted, caught off guard as the female zerg with red hair and green eyes grabbed his throat and pressed him against the door panel. A cold, menacing voice echoed in his ears, “Get out, or I’ll kill you!”

Faeus was in great distress. His green eyes were bloodshot, and the increasingly dense scent of pheromones in the air constantly stimulated his nerves. His breathing grew heavier with each passing moment.

He didn’t want to be marked by a male zerg, to the point where he even entertained thoughts of killing. His stern face appeared somewhat grim in the heavy shadows.

However, Xu Cenfeng couldn’t hear what he was saying anymore. He felt like he was in a furnace, burning his senses away. He keenly sensed the murderous intent from the female zerg in front of him and instinctively fought back. With a forceful motion, he broke free from his grip on his throat and simultaneously lifted his knee to kick him in the abdomen, launching his attack.

Both of them misunderstood each other’s intentions.

Both wanted to kill the other.

However, one gradually lost rationality under the lure of pheromones, while the other became muddled under the influence of the sedative. The two figures, originally entangled in combat, ended up embracing each other, stumbling and falling onto the carpet.

They tore at each other’s clothes barbarically, without tenderness or caresses, only marking each other with intense pain.

Like two hedgehogs embracing, they pierced each other all over, yet they remained unrepentant, determined to devour each other even amidst the bloodshed.

Xu Cenfeng lay on the carpet, his vision shrouded in darkness. He couldn’t see anything, nor could he hear anything. All he saw was the female zerg sitting arrogantly on his waist, his green eyes resembling venomous snakes lurking in the forest, domineering and filled with desire for control.

From this night on, their fates became intricately entangled, like two unrelated ropes twisted together into a knot. Despite their later struggles to unravel it, they found that these two ropes had already snapped in the middle.

Xu Cenfeng still vividly remembered the next morning when Faeus brutally beat Yenia. The black butt of the gun smashed heavily into Yenia’s head, causing blood to flow down half of his face, but it still couldn’t quell Faeus’ anger. “Damn it! Who gave you the courage to bring those useless zergs to mark me?!”

Yenia took a punch to the abdomen, collapsing to the ground in pain. With a pained and restrained expression, he struggled to explain, “Supreme Leader, the blood purity of that male zerg is 100%…”

He couldn’t quite understand why Faeus resisted being marked by a male zerg so vehemently, especially when the blood purity of that male zerg was 100%, a rarity in the entire northern region.

Xu Cenfeng couldn’t understand either. If Faeus despised male zergs so much, why didn’t he let Xu Cenfeng leave in the first place?

“Let me go. You can find another male zerg to mark you.”

Xu Cenfeng had said those words initially, only to be grabbed by the chin and pressed onto the sofa by Faeus. He vaguely remembered Faeus’ expression at that time, which was hard to read, as he coldly retorted, “Find another male zerg to mark me? Xu Cenfeng, do you think I’m some slave in a flesh trade market? Anyone can come and mark me?”

At that time, Xu Cenfeng didn’t quite grasp the meaning of those words.

In the northern region, female zergs were held in high regard and didn’t care much about loyalty. Male zergs were merely birds in their cage, toys they held in the palm of their hands. So why would Faeus care about such things?

Xu Cenfeng didn’t believe it. He thought it was just an excuse.

But later…

Later, he returned to Earth, and Faeus died on the battlefield. Indeed, that female zerg never sought another male zerg to mark him until his death. It’s hard to tell whether it was the pride in his bones or the vile thoughts in his heart that prevented him from doing so…

This dream was just too long, yet he woke up too early.

When Xu Cenfeng woke up from his slumber, he found himself in the dark of night. Only the moonlight remained cold and bright, casting a shimmering glow on the snowy ground outside.

He stared blankly at the ceiling, finding it hard to snap out of it. Eventually, he threw off the covers, got out of bed, and splashed cold water on his face in the bathroom. His brain finally began to clear up a bit.

Xu Cenfeng had been wide awake from the start, and now he found it even harder to fall asleep. He had initially thought of getting a glass of water to clear his mind, but upon realizing there were no glasses in the room, he headed downstairs to the kitchen to fetch one. As it was nearing the wee hours of the night, the entire residence was eerily quiet, where even the sound of a pin dropping could be heard.

Xu Cenfeng returned upstairs with a cup of hot water, the warmth of which dispelled some of the chill of the night. He was heading towards his own room when he hesitated at Faeus’ door, as if drawn by some unseen force. Hesitantly, he reached for the doorknob:

[Beep! Fingerprint recognition failed. Please enter verification code!]

The sensor lock blinked automatically, emitting a cold prompt sound.

Seeing this, Xu Cenfeng lowered his gaze and tentatively pressed a few keys on the illuminated numeric keypad. With a soft click, the door unexpectedly opened a crack—

It seemed the password hadn’t been changed.

Not wanting to wake Faeus up, Xu Cenfeng simply wanted to take a look at him, to confirm the falseness of the dream and the reality before him. However, when he pushed the door open and looked inside, he found the bed empty, and on the floor lay a body curled up in pain—none other than Faeus.

“Clang—!”

The sound of a glass falling to the ground echoed.

Xu Cenfeng’s expression shifted slightly as he hurried forward to help Faeus up from the floor. “Faeus?! What’s wrong with you?!”

Faeus was covered in a thin layer of cold sweat, veins bulging on his forehead as if he were desperately enduring some pain. Unable to control himself, he let out a few broken moans, and a golden light flashed across the zerg patterns on the back of his neck, unmistakably indicating the onset of his estrus period.

Not far away, there was a scattered medicine box, and two used syringes of suppressant lay quietly on the floor. It was evident that the female zerg had just attempted to use medication to conceal his estrus period, but failed.

Xu Cenfeng touched Faeus’ neck and felt the intense heat emanating from it. Unconsciously, he furrowed his brow. “Is it your estrus period?”

Faeus didn’t want to admit this embarrassing fact, but under Xu Cenfeng’s gaze, he reluctantly nodded. He gasped for air and pleaded, “Xu Cenfeng, give me some of your pheromones… Give me some of your pheromones…”

Faeus still didn’t want to be marked, but he felt an urgent need for something to relieve the pain that was about to explode in his head. Without waiting for Xu Cenfeng’s reaction, he lowered his head and kissed Xu Cenfeng’s neck directly. It was the place on a male zerg’s body where the scent of pheromones was the strongest.

It started with kisses, but then turned into bites.

Xu Cenfeng felt the sting on his neck, and he furrowed his brow imperceptibly. However, instead of pushing Faeus away, he tightened his arms around him. The warm and clean scent of pheromones gradually spread, filling the entire room.

Xu Cenfeng wanted to mark Faeus, to help him through this estrus period, but he knew Faeus didn’t want to be marked. So, he hesitated, not making a move.

He simply held the strong-bodied female zerg in his arms, allowing Faeus’ desperate kisses. His kisses were fierce and rough, like a desperate attempt to quench his thirst. Xu Cenfeng’s hands landed on Faeus’ back, soothing him with each touch. He whispered softly, comforting, “It’s okay. I’m here with you…”

Xu Cenfeng finished speaking and leaned in to kiss Faeus’ earlobe gently. His lips brought a slight tingling sensation, and his ink-black eyes were more mysterious and gentle than the night itself, as if they wanted to encompass all the stars and moons outside.

Faeus pressed his forehead tightly against Xu Cenfeng’s, his chest rising and falling unevenly. He didn’t know if he was being influenced by the gentleness of the male zerg in front of him. Finally, unable to resist any longer, he reached out and cupped Xu Cenfeng’s face, whispering softly, “Xu Cenfeng, kiss me…”

Faeus felt that if this male zerg kissed him, the turmoil in his mind might ease a bit. “Come, kiss me…”

So Xu Cenfeng kissed him as requested, unlike Faeus’ earlier wild and rough kisses. It was gentle, like a ray of warm sunshine in spring, delicate and cherished in every way.

It was just a kiss, with no overstepping boundaries.

Faeus couldn’t help but wonder if this male zerg was truly naive or just pretending. Wasn’t this the time when he should be stripping off his clothes for marking? Why was Xu Cenfeng so passive?

Faeus didn’t want to be marked by a male zerg, but if Xu Cenfeng had actually made a move, he might not have resisted. Unfortunately, Xu Cenfeng didn’t, yet his heart was full, filled with a strange emotion in an instant.

The textbook states that when a female zerg encounters a desired male zerg and smells the pheromone scent of the other party, his reproductive organ will uncontrollably open. Faeus furrowed his brow tightly, clutching his abdomen. He only felt something tightly closed inside suddenly opening, and the once firm became a soggy mess.

His pupils contracted slightly for a moment, his expression showing a brief sense of bewilderment: How could this happen…

Damn it…

In Faeus’ mind at this moment, there were only these two glaring words. He closed his eyes, gritted his teeth in silence, and a hint of resentment flashed across his expression. Finally, he staggered to his feet from within the embrace of Xu Cenfeng, seeming like a compromise, like acceptance. With a few swift motions, he removed his robe, revealing his bronzed skin gleaming under the moonlight, resembling a piece of unwrapped silky chocolate.

Faeus stared intensely at Xu Cenfeng, a strand of red hair silently falling, covering his slender, deep green eyes. His chest heaved violently for a moment before he reached out to grasp the nearby desk, turned his back to Xu Cenfeng, and in a low, subdued voice, uttered a sentence: “Come here, mark me!”

Xu Cenfeng was taken aback.

Faeus’ body was tense all over, his shoulder blades showing prominent lines, his waist narrow and muscular, forming a natural contrast with his broad back. After speaking, he glanced back at Xu Cenfeng, lips pursed as he reminded, “Only temporary marking, no deep marking allowed.”

Xu Cenfeng was somewhat surprised by this statement, not understanding why Faeus suddenly changed his mind. Subconsciously, he rose from the ground and slowly approached Faeus from behind, asking softly, “Temporary marking?”

Sensing Xu Cenfeng’s proximity, Faeus pressed against him, his body trembling momentarily as he spoke haltingly, “Only… only temporary marking… no deep…”

Xu Cenfeng understood the reason and didn’t pursue further questioning. He looked at the piece of chocolate that was melting away before him. Finally, he reached out and embraced Faeus’ waist, gently pushing aside the strands of hair on his cheek, and softly agreed in his ear, “Alright, a temporary marking once…”

Temporary…

Marking once…

The next morning, as the warm sun rose, Faeus still lay on the bed, yet to awaken, as the curtains kept the room dim.

He was so exhausted from yesterday’s activities that his legs felt like jelly, and he couldn’t even distinguish between directions. He clung to Xu Cenfeng and refused to let go, completely forgetting the words he had said the night before. The result of his exhaustion was that he still hadn’t woken up.

Xu Cenfeng woke up early and was still somewhat groggy. Nevertheless, he helped Faeus wipe his body briefly. Then, recalling something, he found a soft plug for pregnancy in the medicine box.

This kind of thing was definitely not something Faeus had bought; it was probably included as a gift when he purchased the suppressant. Luckily, it hadn’t been thrown away.

Xu Cenfeng returned to the bedside, bending down to help Faeus insert it. He thought to himself that this female zerg wouldn’t want to wear such a troublesome thing when he woke up, so it was best to do it while he was still asleep.

Faeus, perhaps sensing something, furrowed his brow in his sleep and unconsciously uttered two words: “Xu Cenfeng…”

Xu Cenfeng withdrew his hand and gently kissed him. “Go back to sleep.”

He finished speaking and stood up straight, intending to go to the bathroom to take a shower. However, his gaze inadvertently glanced over, and he suddenly noticed a change in the color of Faeus’ neck markings. His steps froze in an instant.

Xu Cenfeng, as if to confirm something, furrowed his brow and bent down again to take a closer look. The result was undeniable – the markings on Faeus’ neck had indeed changed color. His expression subtly shifted for a moment —

That was the color of markings left by a deep bond between male and female zergs.

Faeus had said yesterday that only a temporary mark was allowed, no deep marking. Xu Cenfeng had really thought about it, and had really intended to do just that.

But he forgot that some terrifying habits had already deeply ingrained into his marrow, not even death could erase them completely. He hadn’t anticipated that Faeus’ reproductive cavity in the abdomen would automatically open, nor had he expected that he would lose control of himself in bed. What was agreed upon as a temporary marking, by some twist of fate, turned into a deep marking.

“…”

What to do?

Xu Cenfeng raised his hand to wipe his face, feeling that this particular female zerg would surely be angry when he woke up. Although he was confident he could appease him, the guilt of not keeping his word still engulfed him, plunging him into a subtle state of silence.

In his previous life, the deep marking was forced upon him by Faeus. After all, it was Faeus who was used to being dominant, so the depth was surely at his discretion. But in this life, Faeus clearly wasn’t ready to be deeply marked. When he woke up later, he might be so angry that he’d want to bite Xu Cenfeng to death.

Xu Cenfeng was already considering whether to hide.
