ICAWZ Chapter 104

ARC 3: Brat

After being deeply marked by the male zerg, the female zerg will experience a period of weakness lasting up to seven days. Even the robust-bodied northern females cannot escape this. It was only at noon that Faeus woke up from his slumber, his mind still fuzzy. Frowning, he sat up in bed, only to groan and fall back because of the pain coming from his reproductive cavity.

“Ugh…”

Faeus held his abdomen, struggling to breathe. He thought to himself, marking is indeed pleasurable, and the pain is also real. He was tossed around all night by Xu Cenfeng yesterday, nearly losing his life. Are western male zergs all this fierce?

Faeus lay in bed, devoid of any desire to move. He reached out and felt his side, only to realize Xu Cenfeng wasn’t beside him. He called out to the bathroom, but there was no response.

Where could he have gone?

Faeus unconsciously furrowed his brow. After a night of pleasure, waking up to find the one who shared his bed gone was unsettling to say the least. However, he lacked the strength to get up and search for Xu Cenfeng. Instead, he lay weakly under the covers, pondering why he felt so drained.

It didn’t make sense.

Utterly nonsensical.

Faeus couldn’t see the back of his neck, but if he could find a mirror, he would discover that his zerg markings had changed color. This would instantly make sense of the situation, but unfortunately, he didn’t have one.

Xu Cenfeng had just gone to the kitchen to prepare some food. He carried a bowl of hot soup upstairs and, upon entering the room, saw Faeus lying half-lifeless on the bed. A bronze-colored arm dangled from the edge of the bed, fingertips almost touching the floor.

“Click…”

Upon seeing this, Xu Cenfeng entered the room and closed the door behind him. He sat down beside the bed, gently tucking Faeus’ exposed arm back under the covers, and softly asked, “Would you like to get up and eat something?”

He knew that female zergs were typically very weak after their reproductive cavity was first opened. In their past encounters, they had been at odds, so he didn’t know how Faeus had managed to get through that period of weakness alone.

This morning, Xu Cenfeng had originally planned to spend a few hours outside in the garden, avoiding any confrontation until Faeus woke up, but after a brief contemplation, he felt it wasn’t right to leave Faeus alone. So, he returned within less than ten minutes.

Faeus finally lifted his head from the pillow upon hearing Xu Cenfeng’s voice. His lips were somewhat pale, and he looked weak from inside out. He lifted his eyelids slightly and asked, “Where did you just go?”

Seeing Faeus like this, Xu Cenfeng knew he hadn’t realized yet that he had been deeply marked by him. He paused subtly before replying, “I went to the kitchen to cook.”

“Cooking?”

Faeus furrowed his brow in confusion upon hearing this, wondering where a male zerg would cook. “Cooking what?” he asked.

Xu Cenfeng gestured to the bowl he was holding, which contained steaming meat soup, bright yellow in color, with a layer of transparent oil floating on top. “I made soup,” he said.

He paused for a moment after speaking, then added earnestly, “For you.”

Faeus remained silent, surprised by the unexpected gesture.

Faeus remained silent upon hearing this, his jade-green eyes staring intently at Xu Cenfeng, as if trying to read his thoughts. In the predominantly luxurious lifestyle of male zergs, especially in the West where males were esteemed, it was unheard of for a male to cook. So, Xu Cenfeng disappeared just to cook? Where did this bizarre behavior come from?

Faeus asked in return, “For me?”

Xu Cenfeng smiled. “For you.”

The bowl in his hand was still hot, so Xu Cenfeng placed it carefully on the table’s edge. Just as he was about to explain the matter of the deep marking to Faeus, he was caught off guard by a sudden force on his neck. His vision spun, and before he knew it, Faeus had pressed him down onto the bed.

Xu Cenfeng paused for a moment, blinking slowly with a bewildered expression. “What’s wrong?” he asked, his confusion evident.

He had no idea, but his demeanor seemed almost inviting to be taken advantage of.

Faeus spoke softly, “Hey, Xu Cenfeng…”

Xu Cenfeng responded, “Yeah?”

Faeus grabbed his chin stealthily, his eyes darkened as if preparing to interrogate him, “Did you enter my reproductive cavity yesterday?”

Xu Cenfeng fell silent.

Oh, so Faeus had found out.

Seeing Xu Cenfeng’s silence, Faeus frowned and demanded, “Speak.”

Xu Cenfeng had no choice but to admit, “…I did.”

He hadn’t kept the promise he made to Faeus yesterday. His voice carried a hint of remorse that was barely perceptible, as he sincerely apologized, “I’m sorry.”

Faeus was caught off guard by Xu Cenfeng’s admission. His brows furrowed tightly, a dangerous edge creeping into his tone. “Who gave you the audacity to deeply mark me?”

Xu Cenfeng couldn’t answer that question. He couldn’t exactly say that it was a habit formed from their past lives of sleeping together. Rolling over to press Faeus beneath him, he reached out to touch Faeus’ slightly pale lips, asking softly, “Did it hurt yesterday?”

With just a simple gesture, Xu Cenfeng managed to quell Faeus’ anger.

Did it hurt?

Of course, it did. Faeus wasn’t a dead zerg.

But with Xu Cenfeng’s early morning soup-making and inquiries, Faeus found himself unable to vent his frustration. He racked his brain trying to figure out how to punish Xu Cenfeng, and in the end, he retaliated by grabbing the back of Xu Cenfeng’s head and biting him on the lips, leaving a bloody mark of his teeth.

Just as Xu Cenfeng had marked Faeus, Faeus had also marked him…

Xu Cenfeng wrapped his arms around Faeus’ waist, leaning down to kiss him back. The faint taste of blood between their lips only added to the addictive allure. In the midst of it all, Faeus’ low, husky voice echoed in Xu Cenfeng’s ears, revealing a glimpse of Faeus’ possessive nature: “If you dare to seek out other females in the future, I’ll kill you. Do you hear me?”

Xu Cenfeng had heard this threat at least eight times out of ten in their two lifetimes together. His greatest virtue was his good temper. He smiled and nodded in response to Faeus’ words. “Alright, I won’t.”

“… ”

Faeus paused at his words, gazing at the bloodstains on Xu Cenfeng’s lips. Finally, unable to resist, he leaned in and gave him a rare gentle kiss. Cupping Xu Cenfeng’s face in his hands, they pressed their foreheads together, noses touching, their breaths mingling. After a moment, Faeus suddenly spoke, seemingly out of nowhere, “It’s the first time I’ve been marked by a male zerg.”

It was his first time.

Perhaps this statement didn’t hold any profound meaning, and it might even sound silly or trivial, because northern females simply didn’t care about such things.

Despite Faeus’ conservative nature, his heart regarded “first times” as something extremely precious. If he hadn’t found the right male zerg, he wouldn’t have wanted to give it away even if he died.

Xu Cenfeng understood Faeus’ sentiment. Faeus had given him something equally precious.

Feeling Faeus’ warmth, Xu Cenfeng’s hand rested on Faeus’ abdomen for a moment before he lifted him from the bed. Despite his seemingly slender frame, Xu Cenfeng was surprisingly strong.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Faeus instinctively struggled for a moment but ended up being carried into the bathroom by Xu Cenfeng. “Let’s soak in some hot water, so it won’t hurt,” Xu Cenfeng suggested.

Yesterday, Xu Cenfeng didn’t want to disturb Faeus, so he had only wiped him down briefly. A warm bath would be better for him, relieving fatigue.

In the bathroom, there was a sunken bathtub from which hot water gushed, filling the room with steam. While the tub filled, Faeus leaned over the sink, using the opportunity to glance at the mirror. As expected, he noticed that the zerg markings on the back of his neck had changed color. A subtle feeling arose in his heart.

Seeing Faeus’ reaction, Xu Cenfeng embraced him from behind, planting a kiss on Faeus’ neck. The contrast between Xu Cenfeng’s fair arm and Faeus’ bronze skin was stark as he whispered softly, “It’s beautiful.”

He was praising Faeus’ zerg markings.

In the Zerg world, this statement was very straightforward because zerg markings were a highly private aspect. Faeus’ legs went weak for a moment upon hearing this. He turned to face Xu Cenfeng, his long narrow eyes lazily squinting, seemingly disbelieving. “Really?”

As Xu Cenfeng was about to respond, Faeus suddenly stiffened, his expression turning peculiar.

He sensed something unusual behind him.

Faeus had sensed something was off earlier but initially attributed it to a normal reaction after being marked. However, when he accidentally brushed against the sink just now, he realized something was amiss. He looked at Xu Cenfeng with astonishment. “What did you put in there?!”

Xu Cenfeng hesitated subtly. “A conception aid?”

Faeus’ face turned green at his words. “Damn it!”

He cursed under his breath and immediately threw the aid into the trash. His brows furrowed, and he looked visibly frustrated. “Who told you to put this damn thing in me?!”

Xu Cenfeng had anticipated this reaction. “Is it bad to have a cub?”

Faeus scoffed disdainfully. “Those things just cry and cause trouble. I’m not having any.”

With that, Faeus turned and stepped into the bath, finding a comfortable spot to soak. Water droplets cascaded down his bronze chest, trickling down to his abdomen before disappearing into the pool, tracing the contours of his beautiful physique.

Seeing Faeus settle in, Xu Cenfeng walked over and joined him in the bath, knowing that rushing things wouldn’t help. He leaned back against the edge of the tub, closing his eyes, and tried to recall the last time he and Faeus had been intimate in their past life, and when Faeus had become pregnant. However, due to the distant past, it was difficult to pinpoint specific dates.

Seeing Xu Cenfeng silent, Faeus thought he might be upset. Unconsciously furrowing his brow, he thought male zergs were troublesome. He deliberately swam over to Xu Cenfeng, his muscular chest pressing against him, as he teased, “Hey, if I end up pregnant, this won’t be just yours anymore.”

Female zergs are responsible for nursing.

Upon hearing Faeus’ words, Xu Cenfeng quietly opened his eyes. His deep, dark pupils were transparent and clean, with a barely perceptible hint of a smile flickering across them. He reached out and pulled Faeus into his arms, soaking together in the warm water. He spoke softly but earnestly, “You belong to yourself.”

Faeus grabbed the back of his neck firmly, raising an eyebrow dominantly. “But you’re mine.”

That was non-negotiable.

Faeus might not necessarily want offspring, but he was certain he wanted the male zerg in front of him. However, fate seemed to be against him. The next morning, just as he dreaded, the doorbell rang, announcing the arrival of a slave he had purchased previously from the auction house.

“Reporting to the leader, here is the slave you requested previously. The contract and identification are all here. From now on, he is under your command. Please feel free to instruct us if you need anything else,” the auction manager said with a fawning smile.

Faeus sat on the sofa, watching as the auction manager pushed a scruffy, skinny “little monkey” in front of him. Unconsciously, he furrowed his brow. “Why is he so scrawny?”

Faeus had a cleanliness obsession and detested anything dirty. At this moment, he regretted why he had agreed to Xu Cenfeng’s request to purchase this criminal slave. However, he couldn’t easily back out now.

The manager smiled ingratiatingly. “Leader, this female zerg is only thirteen years old and hasn’t fully matured yet. He’ll fatten up with proper care. But he has a bit of a wild temperament, so you must be careful.”

“Understood. Leave the goods here and you may go,” Faeus replied curtly.

Faeus glanced at the criminal slave contract on the table before handing it over to a nearby servant to put away. He then wrote a hefty check and handed it to the auction manager, who was overjoyed at the sight of the figure on it. He promptly excused himself and left.

At that moment, Xu Cenfeng happened to come down from upstairs. When he saw the young slave standing in the middle of the living room, he couldn’t help but pause. “Is he…?”

Faeus felt like he could smell the foul odor emanating from the slave. He frowned and lit a cigarette, trying to mask the faint smell with the scent of tobacco. Irritated, he replied to Xu Cenfeng, “He’s the one you picked out at the auction house.”

Xu Cenfeng hadn’t expected the auction house to be so efficient, considering the complexities involved in the transfer of criminal slaves, which typically took about a week to finalize. But then he realized that Faeus was the leader of the entire northern region, so a quicker process was understandable.

Slowly, Xu Cenfeng approached the slender young female zerg and crouched down to inspect him. Perhaps due to spending years adrift at sea, his skin appeared darker than that of other zergs. His face still held a hint of youthfulness, with a pair of dark green eyes filled with resentment and vigilance. His entire being exuded sharpness honed by suffering.

Upon seeing the scars on the female zerg’s body, Xu Cenfeng hesitated, reaching out his hand. “You…”

“Roar!”

The young female zerg suddenly let out a low growl, emitting a guttural sound akin to that of a wild beast. His hands transformed into claws as he partially shifted into a metamorphosis state, assuming an aggressive posture.

“Damn mutt!”

Faeus watched the scene from the sofa, his expression darkening instantly. Ignoring the stench emanating from the female zerg, he walked over in his military boots. Grabbing the back of his collar, Faeus was about to throw him out, his tone dripping with contempt. “Your claws would be better off digging in the dirt. You’re nowhere near ready for a fight!”

Despite their humanoid appearance, the zergs carried traces of their primal instincts.

The young female zerg resembled an untamed beast, his eyes locked fiercely onto Xu Cenfeng’s neck. Faeus had no doubt that if he wasn’t present, he would have lunged at Xu Cenfeng, aiming to snap his throat in the next moment.

This dangerous fellow couldn’t be allowed to stay.

The imposing aura of an S-Class queen zerg was extraordinary. The young female zerg, who had been struggling in Faeus’ grip, seemed to quiet down involuntarily upon sensing the threat of his psychic pressure, as if an invisible hand had grabbed his throat, silencing his reluctance.

Seeing Faeus heading out, Xu Cenfeng instinctively grabbed his hand. “Where are you going?”

Where else could Faeus go? Annoyed, he spat out two words: “Return it.”

He wasn’t going to be a foolish spender, buying a miserable creature like him. Skinny, ugly, and smelly—what use was he?

But Xu Cenfeng intervened, stopping him, and reasoned, “We’ve already paid for it. Let’s keep him. He’s just a teenager. We can teach him.”

Even if they returned him, he would likely end up sold to another male zerg. At such a young age, he would only face abuse and mistreatment elsewhere.

Faeus uttered a hoarse sound, his narrow eyes tightly fixated on him. “Xu Cenfeng, are you so crazy about wanting to be a father?”

He had merely verbally refused to conceive offspring yesterday. Was Xu Cenfeng really overreacting to this extent?
