“Why aren’t you going to bed?”
Xu Cenfeng finally walked over. His deep voice always reminded people of falling snow on the horizon—clean and clear, with an indescribable gentleness in the vast night.
Faeus heard the sound behind him and paused almost imperceptibly. He didn’t turn around but flicked the ash from his cigarette and tossed the blood test report in his hand onto the table beside him. His long, narrow eyes lowered slightly as he said in a cool tone, “Congratulations, 100% blood purity.”
Even though Faeus had never believed that blood purity represented anything significant, he had to admit that Xu Cenfeng now had enough reason to be arrogant.
Even in the matriarchal North, he could walk around with impunity.
Xu Cenfeng always felt that Faeus’ words had a hint of sarcasm. He picked up the blood test report and glanced through it, casually asking, “What are the benefits of having 100% blood purity?”
Here we go again, Xu Cenfeng is playing dumb once more.
Faeus raised an eyebrow expressionlessly and said, “There are plenty of benefits.”
Xu Cenfeng seemed a bit interested. “Such as?”
Faeus sneered, “For example, in a few days, the females pursuing you will be lined up from Hossburgh all the way to the West. For example, in a few days, the Empire will grant you a mansion according to policy. For example, not only can you act with impunity in the North, but you can also marry countless noble females. Are these benefits enough?”
Xu Cenfeng pondered for a moment after hearing this and then actually nodded. “That does sound quite good.”
Faeus frowned and called out, “Hey!”
Xu Cenfeng usually appeared honest and straightforward, so how could he be so cunning? Could those females outside possibly compare to him? He ruled the entire North, with countless males vying for his attention. Now that he was willing to be with Xu Cenfeng, the latter actually dared to think about other females?
Xu Cenfeng didn’t say anything. He noticed that the cigarette in Faeus’ hand was already half-burned, so he gently took it out, held the remaining half between his fingers for a moment, then brought it to his lips and took a puff, only to find it didn’t feel particularly special.
This action was somewhat overly intimate and ambiguous.
The mouthpiece even had bite marks left by Faeus, but Xu Cenfeng seemed completely unconcerned. He took a very slow drag from the cigarette before finally extinguishing it in the ashtray.
Seeing this, Faeus’ eyelid twitched. “Didn’t you say you don’t smoke?”
Xu Cenfeng nodded, “I don’t smoke, and I don’t drink.”
But in the end, he broke both vows with Faers.
As he spoke, a thin wisp of smoke escaped from his lips, exuding a subtle and elusive charm.
Xu Cenfeng generally felt it was a bit of a shame for the smoke to dissipate like that. He turned to see Faeus staring blankly at him, smiled, and suddenly, without warning, leaned down and kissed him.
“Um…”
Faeus was caught off guard by Xu Cenfeng’s action, his emerald eyes briefly contracting in surprise. However, the next moment, his jaws were forced apart, meeting Xu Cenfeng’s soft tongue.
While Faeus was still angry about what Xu Cenfeng had said earlier, he frowned, wanting to push him away, but their tongues intertwined tighter as a result. They both tasted smoke in each other’s mouths, bitter yet lingering, strangely addictive.
Faeus, breathless, forcefully gripped Xu Cenfeng’s nape, gritting his teeth. “Xu Cenfeng, you’re just a liar!”
Xu Cenfeng slowly undid his tightly-buttoned shirt, revealing a stark contrast between his slender fingertips and Faeus’ bronze chest. He seemed particularly fond of this area, noticing how Faeus hadn’t unbuttoned his collar for a long time because it always looked red and swollen whenever he did.
Upon hearing Faeus call him a liar, Xu Cenfeng unconsciously increased the pressure of his fingertips slightly, curious. “Why?”
Faeus trembled momentarily, visibly shaken. His voice hoarse and eyes reddened, he exclaimed, “Damn it, let go!”
Touching was one thing, kissing was another, but squeezing and rubbing like this—was he some lifeless zerg?
Xu Cenfeng could only release his grip, leaning down to placate Faeus with a kiss before smiling and asking, “Why do you say I’m a liar?”
Faeus replied hesitantly, “Well… you just are… a liar…”
He closed his eyes and pressed Xu Cenfeng’s head against his chest, lying down together on the spacious rocking chair. As he fed Xu Cenfeng bites of the meal, he intermittently cursed, “You clearly said you don’t smoke… don’t drink… yet you’ve done both…”
Xu Cenfeng patiently asked, “Anything else?”
Faeus was wracking his brain, trying to think of any other leverage he had against Xu Cenfeng. However, this male was usually so clean and had so few dark secrets it was pitiful: “You also said your blood purity was 35%… but you lied about that too…”
He had said so much just to prove one thing: “You must have lied to me about something else!”
Xu Cenfeng paused imperceptibly at his words but didn’t answer the question. Gently, he removed Faeus’ military trousers, leaving him only with a pair of inconspicuous socks, creating a striking contrast against his bronze skin.
Did Xu Cenfeng deceive Faeus about something else?
Possibly. In a previous life, he deceived Faeus once…
Back then, Xu Cenfeng had lied to Faeus, saying he was just going for a casual stroll in the dense forest and would return shortly. Instead, he fled back to Earth and never went back.
And that female, who knows if he truly believed him, kept waiting all this time. He refused to erase the mark and wouldn’t seek another partner. Perhaps he waited until the day he died.
Xu Cenfeng was lost in thought, but his body continued to move instinctively. When he snapped out of it, he saw Faeus slumped in the chair, his eyes red, staring at him.
Xu Cenfeng softened for a moment at the sight. “Are you cold?”
Faeus’ voice was hoarse and broken, then he awkwardly folded his numb legs back together. “Crowded, let’s go back to bed.”
The chair was too small for them to stretch out comfortably.
Xu Cenfeng then pulled out a few tissues from the table, wiped the seat where Faeus had been sitting, and then leaned over to lift him up from the chair. Despite his slender appearance, Xu Cenfeng was surprisingly strong, with muscles that could be felt when his arms tensed.
Initially feeling embarrassed when Xu Cenfeng lifted him, Faeus soon grew accustomed to it. He buried his face in Xu Cenfeng’s neck, his eyes a bit unfocused, thinking to himself, no wonder Xu Cenfeng’s pheromones smelled so enticing; it was because of his 100% blood purity.
Xu Cenfeng inexplicably felt that Faeus resembled a little dog. He bent down and placed him on the bed, gently brushing aside Faeus’ disheveled red hair, his gaze tender in the dim light of night. “What are you smelling?”
Faeus raised an eyebrow and countered, “What else is there on you besides pheromones for me to smell?”
Xu Cenfeng rarely made a joke, “The scent of a man?”
Faeus didn’t quite understand, “What?”
Xu Cenfeng chuckled, “Nothing.”
They resumed kissing each other.
However, Faeus’ thoughts couldn’t help but start to wander. He suddenly realized that since the first day Xu Cenfeng had marked him, it seemed like there had been deep marks every day thereafter.
Faeus was never one to hold back, so he asked directly, “Xu Cenfeng, my reproductive organs aren’t damaged, are they?”
Xu Cenfeng thought he was being silly. He cradled Faeus’ face and showered him with a flurry of kisses. “It won’t.”
In their past lives, it had never been an issue despite numerous occasions, so why worry now?
Faeus also felt it was unlikely. The physical resilience of an S-class queen zerg wouldn’t easily lead to injury. However, each time Xu Cenfeng marked him, it gave Faeus a sensation of deep and intense marking, leading him to overthink things.
Faeus soon lost interest in pondering that question and focused on another matter. He asked Xu Cenfeng intermittently, “Are you… are you very proud…”
Xu Cenfeng replied, “Proud of what?”
Faeus snorted coldly, struggling to articulate his words clearly but still maintaining his defiant demeanor. “Proud that so many females chase after you… even if you… marry ten or eight of them… no one would care about you…”
Xu Cenfeng smelled the familiar sourness again and chuckled helplessly, “Why would I marry so many?”
Faeus asked, “Then how many do you want to marry?”
He anxiously awaited Xu Cenfeng’s response, his tension palpable enough for Xu Cenfeng to notice. Xu Cenfeng first kissed Faeus’ earlobe to ease his nerves, the warm breath making his ears tingle. He smiled softly and whispered, “How about just marrying you?”
Upon hearing Xu Cenfeng’s words, Faeus suddenly trembled violently for a moment. Then, he stared wide-eyed in astonishment, emitted a muffled grunt, and completely lost strength, collapsing onto the bed.
Xu Cenfeng was briefly stunned by this reaction. He hadn’t expected Faeus to react so strongly, especially since he hadn’t done anything yet. Xu Cenfeng pulled out a tissue and wiped Faeus’ face, carefully recalling if there was anything wrong with what he had just said. Ultimately, he concluded there was not.
So Xu Cenfeng kissed Faeus again and repeated softly, “Just marry you.”
He spoke the most tender and affectionate words in the world. Upon hearing this, Faeus felt a tingling sensation spreading from his scalp down to his tailbone, making even his soul tremble and shiver.
“Damn it!”
Faeus cursed under his breath, still fierce and relentless, without a hint of intimidation. “When did this leader ever say I would marry you!”
Never, not even once!
Upon hearing this, Xu Cenfeng reached up and smoothed out Faeus’ tousled red hair. He never insisted on anything, choosing to go with the flow. “Alright, we’ll wait until you feel like getting married.”
Faeus: “…”
Faeus was dumbfounded.
Why does this male zerg always act unexpectedly? Shouldn’t he be begging me to marry him at this point? Did he just give up so easily like this???
Afterward, Xu Cenfeng, a man who easily gives up, took Faeus to the bathroom to shower. He repeated his tricks and secretly hid a fertility plug. However, he didn’t expect Faeus to notice when he attempted to use it halfway through.
Faeus was now highly wary of Xu Cenfeng. He lifted his eyelids and emotionlessly asked, “What are you holding in your hand?”
Xu Cenfeng remained silent.
Faeus didn’t need to look to know that Xu Cenfeng was hiding that damn plug. He frowned and said, “Throw it away.”
Xu Cenfeng had no choice but to toss the fertility plug into the trash bin, while glancing at Faeus’ abdomen and asking, “What if it leaks out?”
Faeus thought to himself, if it leaks, it leaks; what else can be done about it? With a splash, he rose from the bathtub, his strong and powerful figure gleaming with a sexy bronze hue under the bathroom lights. Broad shoulders, narrow waist—his proportions were as perfect as a marble statue.
Casually using a towel to wipe his disheveled red hair, he glanced back at Xu Cenfeng with his deep green eyes and remarked nonchalantly, “If it leaks, aren’t you going to use something else to plug it for me?”
Xu Cenfeng: “…”
It wasn’t entirely impossible.
Faeus had lived in Hossburgh for years and knew the city’s dynamics inside out. From the moment Xu Cenfeng’s blood purity was exposed, he had guessed it would surely stir up a considerable storm—and indeed, that’s what happened.
Since the day the military general who came to discuss matters left, not many days passed before the news of Xu Cenfeng’s 100% blood purity spread like wildfire throughout the city, causing an uproar.
Although rumors had long circulated about the appearance of two pure-blooded males in the West, the two tribes were separated by a vast distance, making it impossible for ordinary zergs to see them. Suddenly hearing about a pure-blooded male appearing in Hossburgh, from nobles and aristocrats to common folk, everyone was eager to catch a glimpse of Xu Cenfeng.
Ever since Xu Cenfeng’s blood purity was exposed, Faeus’ residence, typically tranquil, had been constantly besieged by visitors. Normally, apart from a few trusted generals, hardly any zergs would come to visit. However, since the revelation, the doorbell outside had not stopped ringing. Even suspicious females near the residential area had been caught, making the situation exceedingly bothersome.
Faeus endured for a week but finally couldn’t hold back his anger. He tripled the number of soldiers patrolling compared to before and issued strict orders prohibiting any zergs from approaching the vicinity of the residence. All invitations to parties were declined, and the entire mansion was tightly guarded. Every nook and cranny was monitored so tightly that not even a fly could get in.
Xu Cenfeng felt that this was not a sustainable solution. He vaguely remembered that Faeus had several other residences. He proposed actively, “How about we move to another place to relax for a while and come back when the situation calms down?”
Faeus sat on the sofa, counting the invitations in his hands. He held a thick stack of papers, all invitations to banquets from the nobles in the north, numbering no less than a hundred. Upon hearing this, he looked towards Xu Cenfeng. His slender fingertips brushed against the edges of the invitations, producing a crisp sound akin to shuffling cards, as he asked with a smile that was not quite a smile, “Are you willing to part with them?”
Xu Cenfeng retorted, “What do you mean ‘willing to part with’?”
Faeus gestured towards the invitations in his hand, “So many suitors.”
He always enjoyed teasing Xu Cenfeng, but each time, it ended up with him getting angry instead.
Xu Cenfeng was all too familiar with Faeus’ vulnerabilities and weaknesses. With just a few words, he turned the situation around, saying, “Indeed, there are some that I’m unwilling to part with. How about I choose a few?”
Faeus narrowed his eyes dangerously, “Didn’t you say you’d only marry me?”
Xu Cenfeng smiled, “Isn’t the leader reluctant to marry anyway?”
Upon hearing this, Faeus directly tore up the invitation in his hand. It was thick, so it took several attempts to tear it completely. He tossed the pieces into the trash bin, stood up from the sofa, and coldly snorted at Xu Cenfeng, “Quite an appetite.”
Choose a few?
Don’t even think about choosing a single one!
Today, Faeus seemed to have something to do outside. He put on a pure black military coat and wore a pair of black leather gloves. After hesitating for a while, he couldn’t shake off his concern about leaving Xu Cenfeng alone at home. He asked ambiguously, “Do you want to come with me?”
Since Faeus had posed the question, there was no room for refusal. Xu Cenfeng happened to be bored at home and agreed upon hearing Faeus’ invitation. After both of them got dressed, they boarded an aircraft together and set out.
Outside, the weather was bitterly cold, and there were hardly any pedestrians on the streets. Xu Cenfeng initially thought Faeus was headed to the military base, but to his surprise, the aircraft eventually landed in front of a hotel.
Faeus and Xu Cenfeng disembarked from the aircraft together. Faeus signaled for the guards to stay back and instructed a few of the more capable ones to follow closely. As they went upstairs, he spoke in a voice only they could hear, “I have something to discuss shortly. Wait for me in the adjacent private room and don’t wander off. I’ll be back shortly.”
Upon hearing this, Xu Cenfeng couldn’t help but feel surprised. He racked his brain for a while, filtering through all the acquaintances he knew, but couldn’t figure out who could make Faeus arrange a private meeting in such a place.
“Who do you want to meet?” he asked.
Faeus uttered two words: “Subordinate soldiers.”
It seems Faeus didn’t intend to elaborate further, and Xu Cenfeng didn’t press for more details. “Then go ahead,” Xu Cenfeng said, “I’ll wait for you next door.”
Faeus had arranged for a private compartment for Xu Cenfeng, with soldiers stationed discreetly outside for protection. Once everything was set, Faeus glanced around one last time before turning and entering the adjacent compartment.
Xu Cenfeng sat in the separate compartment, browsing through the menu. He figured Faeus wouldn’t be long, so he didn’t rush to order. Unexpectedly, he was greeted by an unexpected “visitor”.
“Knock, knock, knock—”
The soldier on duty suddenly knocked on the door and, upon receiving Xu Cenfeng’s permission, opened it slightly. With respect, he inquired, “Your Excellency, General Mandy wishes to visit you. Would you like to see him?”
Upon hearing this, Xu Cenfeng paused. “General Mandy?”
The soldier explained, “He goes by the name Mandy, hailing from the distant West. He’s here on orders from the Zerg Emperor to escort the male zergs taken by interstellar pirates back home.”
