ICAWZ Chapter 127

ARC 4: Cage

The Zerg race remained true to their nature, never able to escape the bestial genes lingering in their blood. When faced with indecisive situations, they resorted to the most primitive methods to determine victory. Nearby interstellar pirates gathered in layers around the bonfire, witnessing their leaders engage in a fierce duel, the tumultuous noise echoing through the heavens, voices hoarse from shouting:

“Go! Go! Kill him! Kill him!”

“Second Leader! Gouge out his eyes! Don’t let Black Fang win!!”

Inside the encirclement, two female zergs were locked in a duel. Unable to use guns, they wielded knives, poison needles, and concealed swords as potential weapons, each strike drawing blood.

Second Leader Carlos had already chopped off half of Third Leader Black Fang’s finger, victory seemingly within reach. However, enraged by pain, Black Fang, robust as an ox, suddenly bellowed loudly. He grabbed Carlos by the collar, lifted him high above his head, spun around a few times, and then with a mighty effort, hurled him into the bonfire—

“Bang—!!!”

Carlos flew out like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily into the bonfire. The watching star bandits scattered in panic. Carlos, rolling like a ground gourd, carried sparks of fire with him, thrown a long distance away, finally rolling to a stop by the feet of two low-ranking lackeys on night duty.

The two lackeys: “…”

Ah Sui had originally planned to escape quietly with Xu Cenfeng while the interstellar pirates were busy with their competition. However, they were caught off guard when a dark figure suddenly flew in from a distance and crashed heavily in front of them, immediately drawing the attention of all the star bandits. Their footsteps froze instantly.

“…”

Ah Sui slowly lowered his head and found an interstellar pirate leader lying in a pool of blood at his feet, his clothes burnt with several large holes from the sparks. The leader clutched his shoulder in agony, groaning in pain.

“Could things get any worse?” Ah Sui thought despairingly.

He tried to pass off as a guard to slip through, quickly joining Xu Cenfeng in helping the leader to his feet. Their heads were bowed low, but suddenly, a cold reprimand rang out beside them:

“Stop! What are you two doing?!”

An interstellar pirate leader keenly noticed something amiss: Ah Sui wasn’t armed with a gun but held only a long sword. Moreover, Xu Cenfeng had rushed out too quickly, still wearing only a bulletproof vest and a helmet, without completing his full outfit change.

Ah Sui’s heart tightened at the words, pondering how to respond. However, the interstellar pirate leader they had helped up seemed to sense something. He suddenly raised his hand, pointing at them in shock.

“You two are male zergs?!”

Upon hearing this revelation, the interstellar pirates were shocked and dismayed. They quickly surrounded Ah Sui and Xu Cenfeng, observing them closely through their visors. Sure enough, they recognized the two lackeys before them as the male zergs with dark eyes who had been imprisoned on the starship earlier. Anxious shouts rang out:

“No! Male zergs have escaped!!”

“Quick, capture them!!”

Seeing the interstellar pirates closing in, Ah Sui swiftly raised his long sword, positioning it across Second Leader Carlos’s neck. “Stop right there! If any of you come closer, I won’t hesitate!”

The interstellar pirates were startled at this sight, and Carlos hurriedly gestured, “None of you move! Stay back!”

However, with the Klayt Alliance now leaderless, the various underlings were all vying for power, each eager to eliminate their rivals. Third Leader Black Fang, who had just had half of his finger severed by Carlos, was enraged and shouted, “What are you all standing around for?! Go and capture those two male zergs! If they escape, how will we ransom them back to the Empire?!”

At the mention of money, the interstellar pirates instantly snapped to attention and rushed forward to capture the two male zergs. Sensing the danger, Ah Sui kicked Carlos towards them and simultaneously lifted his hand to remove the troublesome helmet.

In the Salaranfa Empire, male zergs with dark hair and eyes were unheard of, making Ah Sui’s appearance particularly distinctive. His fair complexion carried a hint of youthful vigor, his gaze icy and sharp like cold stars. With his long sword drawn, he prepared himself for battle.

Xu Cenfeng calmly stepped back, leaving the battlefield, and calmly left a sentence: “Ah Sui, draw your sword and defeat them, draw blood.”

Only by drawing blood could he make the interstellar pirates bow their heads.

Ah Sui was shocked and turned back: “What?! Brother Cenfeng, aren’t you fighting with me?”

How could a companion abandon him at such a time?!

Xu Cenfeng wasn’t worried about Ah Sui’s martial skills; he knew Ah Sui was the best youth in the ancient martial arts village and could easily protect himself. He had no intention of disrupting the established path of fate. With a slight shake of his head at Ah Sui’s question, he warned, “Ah Sui, watch out for their guns and bullets.”

As his last words fell, the interstellar pirates swiftly drew their guns and began shooting at Ah Sui. However, the ammunition wasn’t bullets but rather tranquilizer smoke grenades, which upon impact with the ground, erupted with a loud bang, instantly filling the area with a small cloud of white smoke and mist.

Seeing the situation, Ah Sui frowned and held his breath, forced to proceed despite the circumstances. He took a few running steps and leaped into the air, executing a swift maneuver to dart through the smoke. Simultaneously, he unsheathed his long sword, the cold light flashing as the blade sliced through the air with a gust of wind, as if intending to pierce through the ancient darkness.

In martial arts, speed is paramount. Combined with the interstellar pirates’ use of smoke grenades, they had lost the initiative from the start.

Ah Sui’s figure moved so swiftly in the darkness that only remnants of his shadow remained. Wherever his sword passed, blood inevitably flowed, accompanied by cries of pain echoing around. In no time, a large number of zergs lay sprawled on the ground.

As the interstellar pirates reacted to draw their guns to shoot, they suddenly felt a sharp pain in their wrist. His sword sheath came down with a fierce and swift motion, forcefully knocking their weapons away.

“Ah!!!”

The interstellar pirates let out a piercing scream of agony, their wrists throbbing with pain and numbness, as they fell to the ground writhing to ease their suffering. Meanwhile, the young man continued to battle in the center, his movements swift and decisive, his sword stained with sticky blood.

“Phew…”

A cold wind swept through, yet it couldn’t dispel the lingering scent of blood in the air.

After what felt like an eternity, Ah Sui finally ceased the fight. He stood in the center of the arena, his chest heaving irregularly. Fresh blood quietly dripped from his sword in his hand, accumulating into a damp pool at his feet, marking the ground with wet traces. Surrounding him lay the interstellar pirates, collapsed and wounded.

The remaining interstellar pirates formed a widening circle around him, their faces filled with fear as they stared at the young man in the center. None dared to advance and attack. Whether bullets or crossbow bolts, anything beyond seven paces simply couldn’t harm him. Even the formidable leaders had been struck down and couldn’t rise.

May the Zerg God above us, is he truly a male zerg?!

“I don’t want to be a zerg, and I don’t want to be a pirate. I just want to go home.”

Ah Sui ended his reminiscence of that day, bowing his head to wipe his sword clean with a white cloth, as if it still bore traces of blood. He muttered solemnly, “Brother Cenfeng, why did you negotiate with those interstellar pirates to become a leader in the first place? Let’s escape together. Let’s find Grandpa San together.”

Xu Cenfeng shook his head slightly. “Ah Sui, we can’t leave now. If we leave, the interstellar pirates will worry that we’ll reveal their whereabouts, and then we’ll both be dead.”

Leaving is simply not an option.

Ah Sui paused at his words. “So, are we going to be pirates for the rest of our lives?”

Xu Cenfeng replied, “No, we won’t. Just wait a little longer, Ah Sui. Just a little longer… It won’t be long before the Empire sends troops to wipe out these pirates. Then we can all leave.”

Ah Sui fell silent for a moment. “But it seems like we’ve captured the leader of the troops.”

He glanced involuntarily at the cage, where the beautiful blonde female zerg lay unconscious, not yet awake and seemingly not very formidable.

“Then take care of his injuries, and once he’s healed, quietly let him go.”

Xu Cenfeng, who originally lived on the same starship as Ah Sui, now packed a few belongings, seemingly preparing to move to the neighboring starship.

Ah Sui, suddenly looking like a lost chick without its mother hen, swiftly stood up from the ground. “Brother Cenfeng, where are you going?”

Xu Cenfeng seemed reluctant to disturb them. “I’m going to sleep on the neighboring starship. It’s very close, just a few meters away.”

Ah Sui nervously hugged his sword close to his chest. “Brother Cenfeng, please don’t go. I’m scared of the dark, I don’t dare to sleep alone.”

Ah Sui, an orphan from birth, despite his martial prowess, had the smallest courage. He was abandoned shortly after birth and left in the wild forest, only discovered two nights later by the village elder who went up the mountain to gather herbs. Since then, Ah Sui had been afraid of the dark. When he was a child, his great-grandfather would accompany him to sleep, and as he grew up practicing martial arts, he would sleep with his brothers and seniors in the same bed, never alone.

Xu Cenfeng countered, “Who says you’re alone? Isn’t he here with you?”

He pointed to the female zerg imprisoned in the cage.

Ah Sui hesitated for a moment before managing to say, “But I don’t know him well.”

Xu Cenfeng cryptically added, “It’s okay, you’ll get to know him. Haven’t you already learned his name from the news? His name is Blairand.”

Finishing his words, Xu Cenfeng hugged his meager belongings and walked out of the starship. As he turned back, he noticed Ah Sui quietly following behind him. Pointing to a corner of the ground, he suddenly spoke up, “Be careful, there’s an insect!”

Upon hearing this, Ah Sui’s pupils dilated suddenly, and he jumped like a rabbit onto a nearby seat. He nervously scanned the ground in the distance, ready to draw his sword at any moment. “What insect?! Where?! Where is the insect?!”

Xu Cenfeng walked away, and the starship’s door closed automatically behind him, leaving nothing but silence in the air.

Ah Sui: “…”

Liar.

Xu Cenfeng spent most of his day outside, seemingly occupied with countless matters, and rarely stayed with Ah Sui. He often cautioned Ah Sui not to leave the starship easily because the interstellar pirates were accustomed to exploiting weakness, and Ah Sui’s gentle personality might make him an easy target for their schemes of usurpation.

“Just sit expressionless on the starship, give your sword a wipe now and then,” were Xu Cenfeng’s exact words.

Indeed, this approach proved highly effective. The interstellar pirates outside evidently regarded Ah Sui as a “hermit sage”, reluctant to disturb him unnecessarily.

Being a zerg is hard.

Being an interstellar pirate is even harder.

In the evening, as Ah Sui looked at the night sky outside, he sighed deeply with these reflections. He then went into the starship’s onboard shower, took a refreshing bath, changed into his pajamas, and lay down on his prepared “bed.”

The so-called “bed” was just a regular seat folded down flat to form a makeshift resting area—a space adequate for napping but far from comfortable for a full night’s sleep. Ah Sui, who had recently been growing taller, found the chair too short for him to lie down comfortably. Every time he slept, he felt cramped and uncomfortable.

It’s tough.

Ah Sui, afraid to sleep alone, simply rolled up his blanket and laid it out in the middle of the corridor, then climbed in underneath. Above him, a small yellow night light illuminated his surroundings, and beside him sat a cold, large iron cage. Turning his head, he could see the injured female zerg.

In the darkness of the night, Ah Sui tossed and turned, curiously observing him. He had never seen anyone with golden hair in his life; his soft, glowing hair made him much more attractive than the interstellar pirates outside. How could such a beautiful person be a zerg? Xu Cenfeng must be lying to him.

Ah Sui reached into the cage and quietly pulled up the fallen blanket over the figure inside. He whispered softly, “Good night.”

He obediently lay down in his makeshift bed, his mind calculating his plan. First, he would help this beautiful person recover from their injuries. Then, he would quietly release them when the time came, waiting for them to return with an army to defeat the space pirates. That way, he could regain his freedom and go find Grandpa San.

Perfect.

As Ah Sui thought more and more, he became increasingly convinced that the plan was feasible. Eventually, his weary brain succumbed, and he fell asleep unknowingly with his eyes closed.

The night was dark, and the wilderness was silent.

Ah Sui slept completely unguarded, his black hair messy and a strand sticking up in disarray on the pillow. His breathing was steady and deep, and at this moment, he had completely forgotten another warning from Xu Cenfeng:

“Do not get too close to that female zerg. He is currently in estrus and has not yet left his semi-zerg combat state.”

Quietly, inside the cage, a pair of crimson eyes opened.
