Ah Sui’s fingertips were very cool, with slight calluses on them. When they lightly brushed the back of his neck, it stirred a near-trembling itch.
The desire of female zergs for male zergs was etched in their genes. Otherwise, Carlos and Black Fang wouldn’t seek out male zergs for pleasure every day. That sensation was truly soul-stirring and bone-melting.
Blairand couldn’t help but shudder for a moment. He instinctively grabbed the hand on the back of his neck as if electrified. His soft, golden hair fell over his shoulder, with a strand inadvertently entwined in their fingers, impossible to separate.
Blairand seemed to want to push Ah Sui away, but for some reason, he didn’t move for a long while. Only his gradually rising body temperature revealed his inner turmoil. The slightly upturned corners of his eyes took on a shallow, light red hue, making him look captivatingly beautiful.
Mustering a thread of rationality, he furrowed his brows and said in a hoarse voice, “Don’t touch there…”
This beautiful man had always been so fierce.
Ah Sui glanced at him curiously, his profile looking rather handsome in the play of light and shadow. “What are you afraid of? I’m not a bad person.”
Nevertheless, he obediently withdrew his hand, picked up a clean shirt from the chair, and turned to go to the bathroom to shower. This left Blairand sitting there in a daze, slowly mulling over the unfamiliar word in Ah Sui’s remark: “Person?”
What person?
Blairand couldn’t make sense of it and decided to abandon his thoughts. He reached up to touch the golden thread in his hair, and after a moment, slowly let his hand fall. He wondered why this male zerg, who seemed to be not bad at all, had chosen to be an interstellar pirate.
Today, the Black Eagle Alliance had clashed with them in the outskirts. The sound of the cannon fire would undoubtedly draw the attention of the stationed troops. Based on the distance, they would be caught by the military within three days at most. Given the current strength of the Klayt Alliance, escaping would be nearly impossible. By then, all the interstellar pirates, including Ah Sui, would be imprisoned and subjected to trial.
Considering this, Blairand walked to the porthole and wiped the fog off the glass. He noticed that the guards outside were lax and that half of the interstellar pirates were so exhausted they were nodding off. It was a perfect opportunity to escape. If they didn’t make a move today, it would be much harder to escape once they recovered their energy tomorrow.
Although Ah Sui had promised Blairand that he would let him go when the opportunity arose, no one knew how long that would take. If Blairand stayed any longer, he would become a bargaining chip used by the interstellar pirates to threaten the military when they arrived.
Blairand lowered his gaze, appearing somewhat lost in thought.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Ah Sui finally emerged from the bathroom dressed in pajamas. As expected, the male zerg had thoroughly washed himself, leaving a pleasant scent, and had even climbed into bed without drying his hair, letting out a contented sigh as he snuggled under the covers.
Blairand asked him, “Why didn’t you dry your hair?”
Ah Sui shrugged nonchalantly. “It’s fine. My hair is short; it’ll dry in no time.”
Most male zergs are quite delicate. Blairand had a close younger cousin who was also a male zerg, and he would get sick for a long time just from a little cold breeze. Ah Sui, on the other hand, seemed unusually healthy.
However, with the weather being cold, it’s uncertain whether Ah Sui would remain healthy if he slept with wet hair through the night.
Blairand couldn’t bear to see it any longer. He picked up the hairdryer, found an outlet in the wall, and sat cross-legged next to Ah Sui. “Get up and let me dry your hair, so you don’t catch a cold.”
Ah Sui turned over, lying face down on the bed with his face buried in the pillow, and peeked at him with one eye. “Is it okay to do it like this?”
He was too lazy to sit up.
Blairand, seeing this, had no choice but to dry Ah Sui’s hair in that position. The gentle, warm breeze flowed through his fingers, easing some of the chill. Ah Sui, perhaps uncomfortable lying face down, suddenly turned in the blanket and rested his head on Blairand’s lap, softly saying, “In the past, my grandfather used to dry my hair for me.”
Feeling the added weight on his lap, Blairand’s fingers trembled, nearly losing hold of the hairdryer. He instinctively looked at Ah Sui and saw a nostalgic expression on the young male’s face, tinged with a hint of sadness.
“…”
Seeing this, Blairand paused and even forgot to push Ah Sui off his lap. “Didn’t you say you were looking for your grandfather?”
Ah Sui fell silent at the question, staring at the folds of Blairand’s trousers at his knees without speaking. After a moment, he said, “I really want to find him, but I’m afraid that by the time I do, he might already be dead…”
Ah Sui had belatedly realized the harshness of this world—cannon fire, war, beasts, and pirates. Despite his own skills, his life was so difficult; how much more so would it be for his grandfather?
The old man had a limp. He might have died in the dense forest already.
But Ah Sui didn’t dare to think too much about it; he was afraid that he would lose even the last bit of hope in his heart. He couldn’t bring himself to tell Xu Cenfeng, so he had kept it to himself, and on this quiet night, he finally couldn’t help but express his feelings.
Blairand turned off the hairdryer and gently ran his pale, slender fingers through Ah Sui’s dark hair. He unexpectedly recalled a special black-haired, black-eyed male zerg he knew from the capital, wondering if he might be related to Ah Sui. He softly asked, “What does your great-grandfather look like?”
Ah Sui thought carefully and replied, “He’s very fair-skinned, with black hair and black eyes, seven years older than me. He wears gold-rimmed glasses and likes to dress in suits. He’s very good at making money and speaks in a refined manner, just like you.”
Refined? Blairand thought to himself that it might not be the case and asked, “He’s only seven years older than you? How come you call him ‘grandfather’?”
Ah Sui replied, “He’s of a higher generation than I am.”
Blairand then asked, “How old are you?”
Ah Sui, despite his youthful appearance, was already an adult. “I’m twenty-three by nominal age. How about you?”
Blairand was surprised that Ah Sui was so young. “I’m twenty-eight, a few years older than you.”
The average lifespan of the Zerg race is about two hundred years, so at twenty, Ah Sui is still in his youth.
After drying Ah Sui’s hair and putting away the hairdryer, Blairand was about to find a chair to rest. He noticed that Ah Sui was lying on the pillow, watching him with a somewhat serious expression.
Blairand, thinking he might have something on his face, absentmindedly touched his own face and asked, “Why are you looking at me?”
Ah Sui shook his head. Seeing that Blairand was thinly dressed and planning to curl up in a chair to sleep, he hesitated for a moment, then lifted a corner of his warm blanket and invited, “Do you want to come and sleep with me?”
Blairand thought to himself, is this how interstellar pirates are, lacking any sense of boundaries? First, Ah Sui touched his zerg markings, then rested his head on his lap, and now he was inviting him to share the bed?
Blairand stared at Ah Sui with an unreadable expression. “Why?”
Or was it that Ah Sui was feeling empty and wanted to mark a female zerg to relieve some tension?
Ah Sui’s answer was simple: “It’s cold outside, and it’s warm under the blanket.”
Blairand, being an unmarried female zerg, naturally couldn’t accept Ah Sui’s invitation. He sat quietly in the chair, hugging his knees, and suddenly said to Ah Sui, “If you were born in the capital, you’d definitely be very popular. Countless female zergs would want to marry you.”
In the capital, male zergs were usually high and mighty, often resorting to violence and harsh words towards female zergs when displeased. Ah Sui was both beautiful and good-natured; as long as his blood purity wasn’t too low, he would likely become a coveted prize among the nobility.
Ah Sui’s face reddened slightly at the compliment, and he whispered, “But I’m very poor. I haven’t had the chance to start earning money yet, so I can’t marry a wife.”
Although Blairand didn’t fully understand what “wife” meant, he could guess a bit from the context. Seeing Ah Sui blushing under the light, Blairand’s heart skipped a beat inexplicably. He turned his head away awkwardly and said, “Male zergs don’t need to earn money.”
They only need to stay at home and enjoy life, while it is the female zergs who need to work and earn money.
Ah Sui thought to himself that without earning money, how could he support a wife? He rested his chin on his hand, looking at Blairand. Seeing the young man’s refined profile bathed in moonlight, he unconsciously nibbled on his fingertip, thinking:
If only the wife he marries in the future could be as beautiful as this~
Seeing that Blairand wouldn’t join him in bed, Ah Sui covered himself with the blanket again and said, “Good night, I’m going to sleep now.”
Blairand responded with a soft, “Good night.”
Ah Sui, exhausted from the day’s battle, quickly fell into a deep sleep. He generally slept soundly and rarely woke up in the middle of the night. Blairand waited until the early hours, listening for Ah Sui’s breathing to become steady and deep, before quietly getting up from the chair.
He pulled a thin metal wire from beneath his collar and unlocked the cuffs on his wrists with a soft click in the quiet darkness of the night.
Blairand set the chains aside and frowned as he stretched his shoulders. The wound on his right shoulder was deep and not yet fully healed, making escaping from the interstellar pirate hideout risky. However, he worried that if he missed this chance, there might not be another one. He decided to take the gamble.
Blairand carefully observed the movements outside, ensuring that the guards were mostly asleep, before preparing to leave. As he passed by Ah Sui, he hesitated for a moment, then quietly crouched down and gently adjusted the blanket that had slipped off Ah Sui’s shoulder.
This male zerg was different from the ferocious interstellar pirates. If they ever crossed paths on the battlefield in the future, Blairand would find a way to let him go.
Blairand cracked the cabin door open slightly and left silently. The door’s brief opening and closing didn’t disturb anyone.
Ah Sui slept deeply but not peacefully. His dreams were filled with bizarre and unsettling scenes, leaving him restless. When he finally managed to open his eyes the next morning, it was to the sound of loud commotion.
It was still early outside, with only a misty blue light spreading across the sky. Normally, at this time, only the night guards and the cooks would be awake. However, today there was an unusually loud commotion.
Ah Sui threw off the blanket and climbed out of bed, still feeling a bit of a headache. He instinctively looked towards the chair by the window but didn’t see Blairand there. He then checked the bathroom, only to find it empty as well, which left him feeling puzzled.
Where had the beautiful man gone?
Ah Sui changed into his clothes and opened the cabin door, ready to go outside and search. He saw a group of interstellar pirates gathered around a withered tree nearby. His expression changed slightly, and an ominous feeling surged within him as he hurried over.
“Kill him! Kill him!”
Ah Sui pushed his way through the shouting interstellar pirates and saw a person bound and whipped until covered in blood beneath the snow-covered ancient tree. Although the figure was bowed and their face was obscured, it was not hard to recognize from the beautiful golden hair that it was Blairand.
Carlos held a black whip in his hand and cracked it heavily in the air, producing a sharp, ear-piercing sound. He scanned the surroundings with a dark and solemn expression, and said, “Look at this carefully! From now on, anyone who dares to escape from the alliance will end up like this!”
It turned out that Blairand had knocked out the guards the previous day, intending to sneak out of the camp. However, as he passed by the tents of the low-ranking pirates, he overheard Carlos and Black Fang plotting to secretly kill Ah Sui. They had bribed the plump cook responsible for the meals with a bag of jewels, instructing him to poison Ah Sui’s food.
Blairand should have left immediately, but for some reason, he was compelled to listen when he heard Ah Sui’s name mentioned in their conversation. He was delayed, and his presence was inadvertently discovered by Carlos and his group, who then captured him.
Carlos, unaware that Blairand had overheard the entire plan, only believed that Blairand was attempting to escape from the interstellar pirate alliance. He ordered his subordinates to bind Blairand to the tree and whip him all night as a warning to other pirates and prisoners.
Ah Sui stood among the interstellar pirates, his usually smiling face now bearing an unprecedentedly cold expression. When he saw Carlos raising his whip to strike Blairand again, he could no longer contain his inner fury. In a swift motion, he dashed forward and kicked Carlos several meters away—
“Boom—!”
Caught off guard by the unexpected attack from behind, Carlos flew through the air in a parabolic arc, crashing heavily to the ground. He skidded several meters before finally coming to a stop. The surrounding interstellar pirates gasped in shock, but when they realized the attacker was the big boss, they swallowed their astonishment and fell silent.
Carlos, heavily kicked, groaned in pain and clutched his lower back as he struggled to get up. He saw Ah Sui glaring at him with a frosty gaze, and through gritted teeth, he asked, “Did you hit him?!”
Once again, this troublesome young zerg!
Carlos’ expression shifted momentarily as he replied, “Boss, this female zerg comes from the military and tried to escape the camp last night to inform the military. I was just following the rules! You should execute him yourself!”
Ah Sui didn’t care about the rules. He shot a glance at Carlos, planning to deal with him later, and directly walked over to untie the ropes binding Blairand.
After a night of being whipped, Blairand’s body was barely holding up. As soon as the ropes were untied, he collapsed toward the ground. Ah Sui’s quick reflexes allowed him to catch him in his arms. He checked Blairand’s pulse with a trembling hand, his voice betraying his anxiety, “Are you alright?”
Hearing Ah Sui’s familiar voice, Blairand struggled to open his eyes to look at him, but the blood loss caused him to close them again. His brows furrowed deeply, and with bloodied, trembling fingers, he clutched at Ah Sui’s clothing. He seemed to want to say something, but his pale, cracked lips moved soundlessly, and he couldn’t utter a word.
Seeing Blairand in such a critical condition, Ah Sui was frantic. He hurriedly lifted Blairand off the ground, intending to find a doctor to tend to his wounds. However, Carlos was determined to interfere and blocked his way.
“Boss! This female zerg comes from the military and has broken the rules. You absolutely cannot take him away today!”
Carlos, already harboring rebellious intentions, wouldn’t hesitate to use his gun against Ah Sui in public.
Ah Sui’s footsteps faltered, his teeth clenched in silence. For the first time in his life, he felt a murderous rage bubbling up inside him. “What if I insist on taking him with me?”
Carlos sneered at Ah Sui’s challenge and immediately raised his hand to issue an order. “Then I’m sorry, you’re both guilty! Arrest him!”
At Carlos’ command, the air fell into a tense silence. As the seconds ticked by, no one moved to carry out the order. The interstellar pirates looked at each other in confusion, each one hesitating and pushing the responsibility onto the next, none willing to step forward and capture Ah Sui.
Aside from Carlos’s abandonment of his comrades and the loss of morale within the group, no one dared to challenge Ah Sui’s formidable skills. Even the bravest among them wouldn’t risk their lives by confronting him.
Carlos’ patience wore thin, and his face grew darker with every passing moment. He looked incredulously at those around him, his gaze so cold it seemed to cut through the air. Unable to contain his anger, he roared, “Are you all planning a rebellion?!”
One of the minor leaders, who had long resented Carlos, deliberately responded, “No, it’s because we don’t want to rebel that we won’t lay a hand on the boss. Carlos, within the alliance, the boss’s orders are paramount. If he chooses not to punish that female zerg, no one else is allowed to act.”
The remaining interstellar pirates stayed silent, clearly in agreement with the minor leader’s words.
Carlos was stunned into silence, his mind going blank. To him, Ah Sui was merely a pawn. When had he gained such influence that he could command the loyalty of these interstellar pirates, even making Carlos’ own commands ineffectual?
Ah Sui had no time to waste. Seeing the situation, he carried Blairand and headed straight for his starship. The interstellar pirates, sensing the shift in power, instinctively stepped aside and cleared a path for him.
