ICAWZ Chapter 139

ARC4: Just showing it to me is enough

Ah Sui didn’t hold back at all, clearly distinguishing himself from the “other zergs” in his words. Little did he know that Blairand was precisely the one guarding against him.

“… No.”

Blairand spat out one word, refusing as expected. He couldn’t understand why Ah Sui was so interested in his wings. If the other party wasn’t so “eager” and “drooling” over them, he might have shown them already, instead of hiding them away.

Whenever Ah Sui became enthusiastic, it always felt like he had ulterior motives.

“Ah…”

Ah Sui looked a bit dejected at the words, like a little dog with its ears drooping. “Why not?”

Blairand didn’t hear his mumbling; he turned and moved forward to join Quike and the others in handling the corpse of the Snow Elk Beast. This kind of exotic beast had a poisonous sac in its throat, and if not dealt with promptly after death, the sac would rupture and spread poison throughout its body, rendering its meat inedible.

After the previous fierce battle, the ground was a complete mess. More than half of the more than ten interstellar pirates sent by Black Fang had been gored to death by the Snow Elk Beast, and the few who managed to survive were severely injured, lying on the ground and wailing in agony.

Ah Sui feared that the smell of blood would attract other wild beasts, so he had to ask Quike and the others to help carry the wounded back to the camp along with the prey. The Snow Elk Beast was indeed enormous and notoriously difficult to handle, which undoubtedly caused quite a commotion among the interstellar pirates.

Upon hearing that nearly all his subordinates had been wiped out, Black Fang’s expression was quite dramatic. Ah Sui had taken nearly forty female zergs out, and while the other female zergs were fine, it was his subordinates who ran into trouble. Could it be that the other party deliberately wanted to give him a warning?!

Black Fang was completely overthinking; Ah Sui didn’t have such complicated thoughts. At that moment, he was sitting next to the camp, studying the Snow Elk Beast’s razor-sharp antlers, while the plump cook had set up a large pot to help boil water and cook meat, making the other star bandits drool.

“Boss, Boss, I just picked up a piece of an iron tree branch. What do you think? Can it be used as a weapon?”

“Boss, don’t listen to him; you should take a look at mine first! I picked up one too!”

Quike and the others were completely stunned by Ah Sui’s earlier display in the dense forest, and they no longer wore the dismissive expressions from before. Each zerg had picked up a stick and eagerly gathered around Ah Sui, creating quite a lively scene.

Ah Sui didn’t seem annoyed at all; he squatted on the ground, helping the members peel the branches one by one, his serious demeanor showed no hint of the airs of a big boss.

Blairand was originally helping to process the pieces of meat when his gaze inadvertently fell on Ah Sui. He suddenly noticed a gray-haired, golden-eyed female zerg standing beside him. His movements paused for a moment before he finally stood up and walked over.

“Boss—”

Blairand approached and pushed aside the female zergs that were gathered together, directly pulling Ah Sui out from the group. He didn’t explain anything, simply saying, “It’s time to eat; we’ll deal with those branches later.”

The gray-haired, golden-eyed female zerg was named Julian. If Blairand’s information was correct, he was the true leader of these undercover agents. Unlike the eager curiosity of Quike and the others, Julian had been slowly circling behind Ah Sui, observing him as if he were a beast studying the weaknesses of its prey; he seemed undeniably dangerous.

Blairand didn’t want Ah Sui to get too close to them, so he directly pulled Ah Sui to sit by the campfire, placing quite a distance between them.

Upon hearing this, Ah Sui thought the food was really ready, and he eagerly leaned over to look into the pot. To his disappointment, he discovered that the meat hadn’t even started cooking yet. “You lied to me; the food isn’t ready at all.”

Blairand skewered the marinated meat onto branches and began slowly rotating them by the fire, his movements appearing quite practiced. “Freshly roasted and eaten immediately, or it’ll get cold.”

With nothing to do, Ah Sui continued to study the Snow Elk Beast’s antlers, using his ancestral sword to carve and chop without knowing exactly what he was doing. After a while, he caught a whiff of the savory meat in the air and couldn’t help but twitch his nose. “Can you cook too?”

Blairand replied with a sound of affirmation. “The female zergs of the Salaranfa must learn to cook.”

Ah Sui thought to himself, can cooking really be forced? “Why?”

Blairand looked up at Ah Sui, wondering if this male zerg was genuinely clueless or just pretending. After a moment of silence, he said, “Because after marriage, the female zergs must take care of the daily needs of the male lords. If they can’t cook, it’s hard to find a partner.”

The female zergs in the southern region are naturally gentle and are required to obey their male lords unconditionally. The rules for the nobles in this regard are inevitably stricter. Blairand not only had to learn cooking but also painting, flower arranging, and musical instruments. They had to study any course that could please the male zergs.

Ah Sui was taken aback and exclaimed, “Ah!” His voice even sounded a bit nervous. “Then I can’t cook either. Does that mean I won’t be able to find a partner in the future?”

Blairand couldn’t help but chuckle at his reaction. “You’re a male zerg; you don’t need to learn how to cook.”

While they were talking, the meat on the branches was almost done. Blairand, seeing this, used a small knife to scrape off the outer layer of meat onto a plate and handed it to Ah Sui, then continued to place the remaining meat back on the fire to roast. He gazed at the flickering flames and said softly, “Ah Sui, male zergs in the Imperial Capital don’t need to learn anything; there will always be countless female zergs to feed them.”

He seemed to be expressing some sentiment, but it also felt like an unintentional remark.

Just as Blairand finished speaking, a piece of meat suddenly appeared by his mouth. He looked up to see Ah Sui feeding himself, his eyes shining with a bright smile. “This meat is delicious; you should try it.”

“…”

Blairand had no choice but to open his mouth and swallow the meat, only to hear Ah Sui whisper in his ear, “Actually, I was just teasing you. I learned to cook when I was six.”

Ah Sui had grown up in the mountains, doing everything from fetching water to chopping firewood, so he was likely even more familiar with kitchen tasks than Blairand. After speaking, he picked up a branch from the ground, skewered a piece of meat, and began roasting it slowly by the fire. He even brushed a little fire ant honey he had discovered at the base of a tree root onto the meat, causing it to sizzle and release a delicious aroma.

Blairand was momentarily taken aback. “Who taught you how to cook?”

Ah Sui was only six years old and already cooking. Who would be so cruel as to treat such a young cub like that?

But Ah Sui looked at him with eager anticipation and said, “After I tell you, will you show me your wings?”

Blairand: “?”

Ah Sui raised a finger. “Just a quick look, just once.”

Blairand: “No way.”

This was non-negotiable.

Ah Sui: “…” What a stingy zerg.

Ah Sui had no choice but to withdraw his gaze, continuing to roast meat by the fire alone. When he looked up, he suddenly spotted Xu Cengfeng standing not far away. He quickly waved him over. “Brother Cengfeng, the meat is almost done! Hurry over and eat!”

Xu Cengfeng was like a background character who barely existed most of the time, but when it came to critical moments, he became impossible to ignore. Hearing Ah Sui’s call, he walked over and took the skewer of roasted meat from Ah Sui’s hand. After pulling down his scarf to take a bite, he said, “Not bad.”

Though it was a bit burnt.

Ah Sui picked up another skewer of meat and roasted it a little more. Seeing that it was nearly done, he handed it to Blairand. “You should try it; it’s really delicious.”

Blairand, upon hearing this, glanced between Ah Sui and Xu Cengfeng, his gaze landing on the skewer of meat in Xu Cengfeng’s hand. There was a barely perceptible pause before he withdrew his gaze and said flatly, “No need; I’m full. You all enjoy your meal.”

After speaking, he placed the uncooked meat aside and directly stood up to return to the starship, which inevitably left others feeling somewhat puzzled.

Xu Cengfeng looked down at the skewer of roasted meat in his hand, then glanced at Ah Sui, as if he understood something. He asked in confusion, “Why did you give me the first skewer of roasted meat?”

Wasn’t that intentionally provoking a conflict?

Ah Sui replied, “Because that skewer got burnt.”

Xu Cengfeng: “…”

What was he really expecting? Ah Sui was clearly just a bit of a fool.

After finishing lunch, Ah Sui began training with Quike and the others. The main group first ran a few laps around the perimeter of the camp to warm up, and only then did they start learning the basic moves of whip techniques. Ah Sui held a black branch in front of the team and demonstrated the moves. His techniques were sharp and swift, cutting through the air with a constant whoosh, leaving the female zergs staring in awe, not daring to even blink.

The few male zergs with Heim, who had been rescued by Ah Sui, had been living on the same starship as Xu Cengfeng since then. They felt bored every day, and when they suddenly saw Ah Sui teaching these female zergs martial arts, it felt like a cat’s paw was scratching at their hearts, making them feel restless.

Heim had been waiting for Ah Sui to finish his practice before quickly running up with the other two male zergs, surrounding him in the middle. Their excitement was hard to contain. “Ah Sui, those moves you just showed were amazing! Can you teach us?!”

Ah Sui didn’t expect Heim and the others wanted to learn as well. He scratched his head, looking somewhat troubled. “Huh? You guys want to learn martial arts too? Training is really tough.”

Heim nodded vigorously and flexed his muscles in a display of strength, feeling a bit indignant. “If they can learn, why can’t we?”

Ah Sui looked them up and down and shook his head. “Your lower bodies are too weak; you can’t stand firm. If you want to train, you’ll have to start with basic stances, and it will take at least two or three years.”

Heim looked at his legs in surprise. “I’m standing pretty steadily; what do you mean I’m not stable…?”

Before he could finish his sentence, Ah Sui suddenly struck like lightning, jabbing the stick in his hand right into the back of Heim’s knee. There was a dull thud, and Heim fell flat on the ground, landing in a heap.

Heim cried out in pain, “Oh my gosh! My leg!”

Ah Sui shook his head. “See? I told you your lower body is unstable. I only used half my strength; I didn’t even push that hard.”

The other two male zergs hurriedly helped Heim up from the ground, stammering, “So… how do we do the horse stance then?”

Ah Sui had no choice but to toss the stick aside and demonstrate the horse stance for them. “See, just like this. Practice for an hour every day, and if you can stick with it for five days, I’ll teach you martial arts.”

Heim and the other male zergs were quite assertive; otherwise, they wouldn’t have dared to offend Black Fang in the first place. Hearing this, they immediately straightened up and said, “Five days is nothing! You better not go back on your word!”

Ah Sui chuckled, thinking there was no reason to backtrack. He waved over Quike, who was seriously practicing his moves nearby. “Come here. You’ll supervise them as they do their horse stance for an hour every day. If they can’t keep it up, report back to me.”

Quike immediately saluted. “Yes! Big Boss! I will definitely carry out your orders!”

In this world where strength reigns supreme, power represents everything. Even Heim and the other male zergs were itching to learn from Ah Sui’s impressive techniques; how much more so for the other interstellar pirates? Unfortunately, with Black Fang and Carlos exerting pressure from above, they dared not recklessly pledge allegiance to Ah Sui and could only stand by, enviously watching.

Seeing Ah Sui taking those captives for his own use, Black Fang let out a cold laugh. “What can a broken wooden stick accomplish? On the battlefield, they’ll all just be targets for me!”

He looked down on those “rabble,” so he didn’t take it to heart, finding it all rather absurd and laughable. He allowed Ah Sui to carry on with his antics.

A day passed quietly, and soon it was nighttime. Blairand had hardly left the starship all afternoon.

Ah Sui came out of the bathroom after taking a shower and saw Blairand lying on the bed, eyes closed as if he were asleep. He unconsciously lightened his steps and quietly slipped under the covers.

Ah Sui’s body was still damp, and he always smelled fragrant after a shower. When Blairand caught the familiar scent, he quietly opened his eyes but then closed them again, saying nothing.

Noticing that Blairand had his back turned to him, Ah Sui reached out and poked him on the back. “Blairand?”

Blairand didn’t turn around. “What’s wrong?”

Ah Sui asked, “You didn’t leave the starship all afternoon. Are you mad at me?”

Blairand’s tone was calm. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Why would I be angry?”

Ah Sui’s actions made one wonder if he usually pretended to be clueless. “I gave the first skewer of grilled meat to Brother Cenfeng today. You’re upset with me, aren’t you?”

Upon hearing this, Blairand finally opened his eyes, faintly furrowing his brows. He seemed at a loss for words due to Ah Sui’s question, and after several seconds, he managed to utter two words: “… I’m not.”

Blairand kept his back turned, so Ah Sui could only lean closer and speak into his ear. The damp tips of his hair brushed lightly against Blairand’s ear, bringing a teasing, intimate sensation. “Don’t be angry anymore. The first skewer of meat got burned and wasn’t good; it was the second skewer that tasted good.”

Unfortunately, Blairand hadn’t eaten any of it, leaving all the good meat for Ah Sui.

Upon hearing this, Blairand paused for a moment. “You don’t need to explain. I said I’m not angry.”

Ah Sui didn’t believe him. “Then show me your wings.”

Blairand refused. “No.”

Ah Sui pouted, “Then you are angry with me.”

“You…”

Blairand discovered for the first time that Ah Sui was a complete rogue. He turned to look at the male zerg, only to see him gazing eagerly, his eyes sparkling. When he smiled, a small dimple appeared on his cheek, making it hard for Blairand to stay angry. “Just show me, okay~”

Instantly, Blairand lost all his irritation. He thought to himself that if he didn’t show Ah Sui, this male zerg would probably pester him for several days, so it would be better to just give in for some peace. “Just one look?”

Upon hearing this, Ah Sui immediately nodded like a chick pecking at grain. “Okay, just one look!”

Facing Ah Sui’s burning gaze, Blairand felt a sense of embarrassment he couldn’t quite express. He slightly pressed his lips together, his face reddening as he quietly unbuttoned his white shirt under the covers and tossed it aside. Then, he turned over on the bed, exposing his strong, toned back.

The whip marks on Blairand’s body had almost faded completely. He was just about to spread his wings when he noticed Ah Sui staring at him. Unable to resist, he raised his hand to cover Ah Sui’s eyes in the darkness, whispering, “First, close your eyes…”

Upon hearing this, Ah Sui’s eyelashes trembled for a moment, and then he obediently closed his eyes, feeling a bit nervous. He silently counted the seconds, feeling as though only a brief moment had passed, yet it also felt like an eternity. Finally, he sensed the hand covering his eyes gently fall away.

Slowly, Ah Sui opened his eyes, and he was instantly mesmerized by the scene before him, rendered speechless for a long time.

The wings of the southern female zergs were considered a divine gift. A glimpse of them during the day was already breathtaking, but at night, they held an indescribable softness and tranquility.

Moonlight filtered through the porthole, illuminating Blairand’s back, where a pair of translucent wings had appeared. They were covered in countless tiny sparkling dots, and with each gentle flutter, they created a cascade of shimmering colors. It was as if stars had fallen into the clearest river, like pearls strung together by moonlight, an indescribably sacred sight.

Ah Sui unconsciously held his breath, then cautiously reached out to touch the wings. They trembled shyly and pulled away for a moment, causing Blairand’s ears to turn red as well.

Blairand closed his eyes, unable to distinguish whether he felt embarrassment or shame, and could only bury his face into the pillow.

Ah Sui couldn’t help but move closer to Blairand, whispering in his ear, “Your wings are so beautiful; no wonder that bad guy Carlos wanted to take them.”

After saying this, he couldn’t resist gently touching the exquisite wings again. “From now on, I’ll protect them with you. We can’t let other bad guys take them away.”

“…”

Blairand paused at these words, instinctively lifting his face from the pillow, only to see Ah Sui blushing as he quietly said, “So you can’t show your wings to other male zergs anymore, okay?”
