The estrus period is a process that every adult female zerg must go through. During this period, they either rely on the pheromones of males to soothe themselves or inject expensive inhibitors to suppress their instincts. However, the last option undoubtedly makes it very difficult for them.
However, for Yusto, the former option is more painful.
With great difficulty, he gathered a bit of rationality, activated the autopilot mode of the aircraft, and then stumbled to the back seat. There, he began to search haphazardly for the only remaining inhibitor in the storage compartment.
Seeing Yusto’s distressed state, Lu Yuan finally snapped out of his daze. He quickly walked over to Yusto, reached out, and grabbed his shoulder, asking with concern, “What’s going on with you? Do you need me to take you to the hospital?”
“Hospital?” Yusto took a shallow breath, self-mockingly saying, “Hospitals don’t bother with the estrus of zergs.”
Even in his disheveled state, Yusto couldn’t shake off the sarcasm and arrogance in his tone. After uttering these words, he broke free from Lu Yuan’s restraint, finally locating the inhibitor in a pile of scattered items. He then sat down on the ground, laboriously tearing open the packaging of the syringe.
Lu Yuan stared blankly at the scene unfolding before him, unconsciously furrowing his brow. His brain, however, continued to process the recently heard word “estrus”.
The injection site for the inhibitor was at the back of the neck, but Yusto’s hands, accustomed to handling precision firearms, were shaking uncontrollably. It was evident that he couldn’t administer the injection on his own. His eyes were bloodshot, reflecting a deep abyss of desire. He gasped for breath in the dim light, looking at Lu Yuan with a profound intensity. Finally, he set aside his pride and sought help, “Lu Yuan…”
His voice was hoarse and trembling, and it was unclear whether he felt embarrassed or indignant. “Help me…”
Upon hearing this, Lu Yuan leaned in closer. Shadows climbed up the ground, enveloping them both in a strong, masculine aura, binding them like a web. In the mysterious darkness, his deep voice made emotions hard to discern, “Help you mate?”
Yusto closed his eyes at the words, biting his lip tightly. Normally, hearing such a remark would make him angry, but in this moment, he couldn’t contain his emotions. Shaking uncontrollably, he lost all strength, “Help me inject the inhibitor…”
Yusto tightly gripped a syringe in his right hand, the force so strong that even his fingertips turned a shade of blue. He forcefully placed it into Lu Yuan’s hand and, in a hoarse voice, uttered each word, “At the back of the neck, inject it for me…”
Lu Yuan instinctively took hold of it, saying, “But I’ve never learned how to give an injection.”
Yusto took a difficult breath, his cold sweat already soaking his clothes. “As long as it’s at the back of the neck, it’s fine. Female zergs are not as fragile as you might think.”
The Zerg race had yet to break free from the influence of animal genes. Powerful female zergs during their estrus period might lose control, doing things they couldn’t restrain. Faced with such a situation, male zergs had only two choices: to comfort or to distance themselves.
Seeing Yusto teetering on the edge of losing control, Lu Yuan finally stopped hesitating. He signaled to Yusto, saying, “Lie down on the seat.”
Upon hearing this, Yusto suppressed the strange feeling in his heart and stumbled to lie down on the back seat. His pale and delicate profile pressed against the cool leather seat. Unable to help himself, he shivered. Before he could gather his thoughts, he felt a hand swiftly removing his military jacket in the darkness.
Yusto’s back tensed instantly, ready to struggle and sit up on reflex. However, Lu Yuan knelt directly on one knee on the seat, using it to brace against Yusto’s lower back. “Don’t move.”
With the inhibitor in his left hand, Lu Yuan’s right hand groped in the darkness to find Yusto’s collar. His slender fingertips were agile, swiftly undoing the buttons on Yusto’s shirt. He then pushed the garment down to his shoulders, revealing Yusto’s muscular back and the ancient golden zerg markings on his neck.
Worried about injecting in the wrong place, Lu Yuan leaned closer to Yusto. With his fingertips, he pointed to a spot on Yusto’s neck. “Here?”
Yusto’s back was exposed to the air, and he couldn’t help but shiver. He closed his eyes and nodded silently.
Lu Yuan, seeing this, gently pierced the needle into the designated spot, slowly pushing the syringe. As he watched the pale blue liquid gradually disappear within the syringe, he then withdrew the needle.
Yusto only felt a sharp pain at the back of his neck. He let out a low, muted groan, forcefully suppressing the surging desire within him, patiently awaiting the onset of the medication. In a dim haze, he saw the used syringe discarded by Lu Yuan. Following that, the low, deep voice of the other echoed in his ears, “Feeling a bit better?”
In reality, he wasn’t. The effects of the medication would take at least three minutes to manifest, and every second at the moment felt like torment for Yusto.
His pale complexion gradually turned red, like a splash of rouge dropped into water, softly diffusing. Disheveled hair covered most of his face, obscuring his expression. Only the faintly protruding contours of his throat knot were visible, alluring and decadent. The white military shirt quietly slid down to his waist, revealing everything.
Yusto’s Adam’s apple rolled as he struggled to turn his head towards Lu Yuan, resembling a trapped beast on the brink of demise.
Thinking he had something to say, Lu Yuan leaned in.
However, Yusto silently moved his lips, laboriously uttering a few words, “Help me get dressed…”
He was always so proud, unable to endure any humiliation or show even a hint of vulnerability. Yet, this world was exceptionally stingy, denying him the respect he craved.
Upon hearing this, Lu Yuan paused for a moment, then silently helped Yusto up. He had him lean against his own shoulder, carefully pulling together the scattered shirt and fastening each button with precision.
The night air still held a chill, and Lu Yuan felt Yusto’s shivering form. He picked up the military jacket from the ground and wrapped it around him.
In a hushed tone, as if afraid to disturb something, Lu Yuan asked, “Should I take you to the hospital?”
As the effects of the injection took hold, Yusto’s clouded consciousness gradually cleared. Leaning against Lu Yuan, his eyes, tinged with a hint of red, looked up at him. His long eyelashes were soaked with tears, glistening. Unconsciously, his silver strands of hair brushed against the back of the male zerg, seemingly immersed in a pleasure he couldn’t escape. It wasn’t until his heartbeat slowly steadied that he finally released a slow breath, shook his head with closed eyes, and in a hoarse voice, inexplicably tinged with vulnerability, said, “Your Excellency, I have to admit…”
Lu Yuan: “What?”
Yusto tugged at the corner of his mouth, giving a light laugh. Even in this situation, he found room for humor. “You’ve managed to make me feel a bit defeated and start questioning my own charm.”
No male zerg could remain indifferent in such a scene, yet Lu Yuan did, to the point that Yusto couldn’t help but doubt something. “So… are you really homosexual?”
Despite the fact that those male zergs weren’t as attractive as him.
Lu Yuan looked at him quietly, neither confirming nor denying. “I believe that emotions don’t discriminate based on gender.”
But there are differences in species.
A human and a zerg would not have a good outcome.
Yusto chuckled again at the remark. Whether it was an illusion or not, at this moment, he seemed like a quiet beast, retracting all his thorns. “Your mindset is very open-minded, but forgive me for being blunt—you don’t look like a homosexual at all.”
Since the day he met Lu Yuan, it seemed like he had embarked on a relentless journey of beating up male zergs. Including the recent incident with Liven, two of the most prominent male zergs in the capital had been sent to the hospital by Lu Yuan.
Lu Yuan unconsciously touched his face upon hearing this and curiously asked, “Then what do I look like?”
“Like a female zerg, a female zerg who loves to fight,” Yusto seriously suspected that Lu Yuan had the temperament of a tyrant even during his time in the academy. “I have to remind you, it’s best not to fight in the academy.”
Lu Yuan shrugged, “I’ll try my best.”
While they were talking, the aircraft suddenly gave a slight vibration. Accompanied by the gradual sensation of descent, they had already arrived at the entrance of the academy.
Lu Yuan instinctively sat up straight, and Yusto also abruptly realized that their leaning positions were a bit too intimate. They separated as if shocked.
Lu Yuan raised an eyebrow lightly, giving him a somewhat teasing look. “What are you afraid of? I’m homosexual, I’m not interested in female zergs.”
For the first time, Yusto refrained from sarcastic comments. He silently finished putting on his military jacket. Thoughts of the terrible male zergs in the Empire crossed his mind, and he unconsciously furrowed his brow. “Is that so? It seems like you’re going to remain single for a lifetime.”
Lu Yuan arched an eyebrow. “Are you cursing me?”
Yusto glanced deeply at Lu Yuan. “No.”
He just felt that those male zergs weren’t worthy of Lu Yuan.
He didn’t say the latter half of his thoughts.
Yusto finished dressing, but he still worried that some clues might be noticed. He looked up at Lu Yuan, feeling a bit uneasy, and adjusted his collar. “Is there anything on me that looks strange?”
“Yes,” Lu Yuan pointed to the back of his neck, speaking frankly. “There’s a strange golden markings on the back of your neck.”
Yusto hesitated for a moment. “…That’s the zerg marking.”
Lu Yuan, however, commented, “It looks pretty good.”
Lu Yuan was unaware that complimenting a female zerg’s zerg markings was equivalent to complimenting their intimate parts. After uttering those words, he opened the hatch and stepped out of the aircraft.
As Lu Yuan opened the door, a blast of cold air rushed into the cabin, but it couldn’t cool down the burning temperature on Yusto’s face. He watched Lu Yuan’s departing figure, his expression strangely dazed. It took him a while to snap out of it, and he followed, descending from the aircraft.
The military females on duty at the academy gate were just about to change shifts. Seeing Lu Yuan striding confidently toward them, they thought he was a student sneaking out. They were ready to intercept him, but out of the corner of their eyes, they suddenly noticed another figure in military attire.
Once Yusto stepped off the aircraft, he resumed his usual demeanor – cold and distant, deterring others from approaching. He followed behind Lu Yuan, calmly gesturing to the military females on duty, indicating that they didn’t need to intervene.
The military females on duty could only retreat to their original positions, watching as Lu Yuan, this tardy latecomer, walked into the academy.
As the night deepened, the training ground fell into silence, with only the rustling of the wind. However, there was no sound of rustling leaves, making it feel like something was missing compared to Earth.
Adhering to the principle of “see a friend off until the end”, Lu Yuan accompanied Yusto to the entrance of the female zergs dormitory building. He glanced at him and said, “I’ve brought you here. Go back and rest early.”
Does estrus seem tiring, after all?
Yusto had no idea about Lu Yuan’s inner thoughts. Otherwise, he would have definitely started a fight with him right there. Upon hearing the indifferent “Hmm.” from Yusto, Lu Yuan casually shrugged off his jacket onto his shoulders. Despite his unruly appearance, he somehow exuded a sense of reassurance. “I can keep a secret. Don’t worry.”
After saying that, Lu Yuan waved to Yusto, turned around, and headed towards his own dormitory. His figure soon disappeared into the darkness.
“…”
Yusto stood on the steps at the entrance for a long time. The night wind tousled his silver hair, obscuring his expression. It was difficult to guess what was going on in his mind. He remained there until the distant figure disappeared, then turned and went inside.
Lu Yuan, after running 20 laps today, was undoubtedly tired. He climbed the stairs step by step towards the dormitory, intending to take a shower and go to sleep. However, just as he reached the second floor, he unexpectedly ran into Instructor Horik at the corner of the corridor.
Lu Yuan was startled, “!!!”
Meeting a stern-faced instructor in the stairwell at midnight would scare anyone. The fact that Lu Yuan refrained from cursing or yelling at him already showed the utmost respect. Instinctively, he retreated a couple of steps, holding onto the railing to avoid being kicked down the stairs by the notoriously temperamental instructor. “Instructor?”
Was this stern-faced figure sleepwalking in the middle of the night?
Instructor Horik ignored him, instead lowering his head to check the terminal on his wrist. He asked coldly, “It’s past curfew now, Cadet 026. Where were you just now?”
Lu Yuan decided to retract his statement about the Disciplinary Committee being mad dogs. The real mad dog was evidently the one standing in front of him. However, being caught fighting or skipping class by a teacher wasn’t a new experience for him. His mental resilience was quite strong.
Without changing his expression, Lu Yuan replied, “Bathroom.”
Instructor Horik was surprised by Lu Yuan’s nonchalant attitude. He raised an eyebrow at his response, “Oh? You went to the bathroom? Are you sure you didn’t leave the academy?”
Lu Yuan’s logic was flawless, “I went to the bathroom and happened to step out of the academy.”
At these words, Instructor Horik’s forehead veins started pulsating, and he couldn’t hold back a low growl. Even the sensing lights vibrated, “Went to the bathroom and happened to step out of the academy?! Don’t you know cadets are not allowed to leave the academy during non-holiday periods?!”
Lu Yuan awkwardly rubbed his nose and took a couple of steps back, avoiding being sprayed with the instructor’s saliva, “Sorry, I know now.”
Instructor Horik clearly had no intention of engaging in further conversation with Lu Yuan. He frowned and said sternly, “You’re lucky. In the past, I would have deducted all your credits. However, considering you’re the only male who completed 20 laps today, write ‘I will never be late or return late again’ five hundred times. Submit it to my office in three days!”
Having said that, he gave Lu Yuan a stern look and walked down the stairs, leaving the dormitory building.
Lu Yuan was stunned, “???!!!”
Five hundred times? Damn it, he might as well have deducted all his credits! Although the Zerg language was similar to Earth’s, it wasn’t exactly the same. Lu Yuan could only read like a semi-literate person, guessing the meaning half the time. Wasn’t this punishment tantamount to killing him?
Feeling annoyed, Lu Yuan scratched his head. He felt like this instructor was his natural enemy. Ready to go back to his dormitory and sleep, he discovered that Reed and the others were all standing in the hallway, shivering from the cold draft.
Lu Yuan was puzzled when he saw them standing in the hallway. He approached and asked, “Why are you all standing here in the corridor?”
Reed, wrapped in a bathrobe, was shivering, and his chubby figure strangely seemed a bit fragile. Pointing to the blue-haired male on the opposite side of the hallway, Reed said with a shiver, “Brian had a gathering in our room tonight with loud music. It woke up all the males upstairs and downstairs. Instructor Horik made us stand here for two hours before we can go back to sleep. Luckily, you weren’t here; otherwise, you’d be standing here with us.”
Lu Yuan thought, ‘I’m in a worse situation. I have to write the academy rules five hundred times.’ Without showing any expression, he said a single word to Reed, “Deserved!”
Standing in the hallway, not sleeping in the middle of the night, and making noise with a party in the dormitory, if Lu Yuan had been there, he would have surely given these males a beating and made them question their life choices.
Reed was already feeling wronged, and his expression became even more pitiful after Lu Yuan’s comment. He cried with a mournful face, “They dragged me over there.”
Lu Yuan raised an eyebrow coldly, “Don’t you know how to refuse?”
After saying this, Lu Yuan looked Reed up and down. Seeing him shivering in his thin sleepwear, he rarely showed some kindness by tossing his military training jacket to Reed, saying, “Put it on.”
Touched, Reed hurriedly caught the jacket. He was overwhelmed with gratitude and said, “Lu Yuan, you’re really too kind to me!”
Lu Yuan replied nonchalantly, “It’s okay. Just remember to return it to me after you’ve cleaned it.”
The jacket was covered in sweat, and Lu Yuan couldn’t be bothered to wash it. Reed nodded vigorously, “Sure, sure, sure. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure it’s clean!”
Lu Yuan noticed the terminal on Reed’s wrist and instinctively checked his pocket. It then dawned on him that he had left his terminal in the mall when he hurriedly left. He turned to Reed and said, “Let me borrow your terminal brain for a while.”
Reed, a bit confused, asked, “Huh? Don’t you have one?”
Lu Yuan raised an eyebrow and replied, “If I had one, would I need to borrow yours?”
Reed was frightened by Lu Yuan’s gaze and quickly took off his terminal brain, handing it to him while quietly telling him the password.
Lu Yuan tossed the lightweight terminal brain in his hand and said, “Alright, I’ll return it to you after you finish your punishment.”
With that, he turned around and went back to his own dorm room.
After coming back to his room, Lu Yuan hadn’t paid attention to the time. He quickly took a shower, and upon coming out of the bathroom, he realized it was already past nine in the evening.
Reflecting on the events of the day, Lu Yuan felt a bit dazed, finding the social system of the Zerg race once again challenging his understanding. Lying in bed, he found himself devoid of sleepiness, so he decided to open Reed’s terminal and play around with the StarNet for a while to familiarize himself with its operation.
Lu Yuan had always found the Zerg writing system peculiar. While the overall structure resembled that of Earth’s, it wasn’t entirely similar. To describe it, one could use the analogy of the Martian language that was popular on Earth in the early years – understandable but challenging to write.
For example, the character “空” (“empty” or “sky”) had the “工” (“work”) below it, which in the Zerg script was replaced by “王” (“king”). Another example was the character “晚” (“evening” or “night”), where the “免” (“free” or “exempt”) on the side was replaced by “兔” (“rabbit”). It looked strange, lacking any apparent logic, and even the phonetics seemed chaotic.
This resulted in Lu Yuan being unable to type while playing on StarNet. Most of the time, he had to resort to handwriting, much like an elderly person using a phone in a subway. When encountering words he didn’t know, he could only activate the voice search function.
As the night grew deeper, time silently passed, and before he knew it, it was already eleven o’clock. Because the hallway had surveillance, those male zergs dared not slack off. They obediently stayed in place for two hours before cautiously leaving, supporting themselves against the walls as they limped back to their dorms.
Reed, already exhausted, couldn’t keep his eyes open. He yawned, ready to go back to his room and sleep. Suddenly, behind him, there was a soft clicking sound. Turning around, he saw Lu Yuan walking out of the dorm.
Lu Yuan didn’t say anything. He simply tossed the terminal brain to Reed, reminding him to call when it was time for class tomorrow, then turned and went back into his room.
“Click—!”
With the sound of the door closing, the corridor fell into complete silence.
Reed looked at the terminal brain in his hand, scratching his head in confusion. He couldn’t figure out what Lu Yuan had done with it. Surely, he wasn’t watching adult content, right?
He subconsciously opened the StarNet, and a bunch of forgotten browsing history instantly jumped into view, leaving him in a daze:
#What is the estrus period?#
#Specific symptoms and solutions for the estrus period#
#Is it illegal for instructors to have male zergs copy lines?#
#How to write ‘I will never be late or return late again’#
Reed: “…”
The next morning, the dawn broke.
Lu Yuan was peacefully asleep in his bed when he was abruptly awakened by an urgent knocking on his door. Frowning, he climbed out of bed, ready to see who dared to disturb his sleep. Upon opening the door, he saw Instructor Horik in the hallway, energetically knocking on each door. His powerful voice echoed through the entire building:
“All male zergs from Class Three, get up and get ready within ten minutes! Assemble on the playground downstairs! If anyone is late today, the consequences will be more than just running 20 laps! Face the consequences yourselves!”
Instructor Horik had established his authority firmly the previous day, and it seemed to have had a significant impact. Even Lu Yuan couldn’t help but mutter under his breath, acknowledging the situation before returning to his room to get dressed and freshen up.
The male zergs, accustomed to a more leisurely lifestyle, were still feeling the effects of yesterday’s punishment of running 20 laps. Today, their steps were shaky as they walked. Lu Yuan, having a history of chasing and fighting on Earth, possessed a significantly better physical condition. He quickly got dressed and sprinted downstairs, matching the speed of the female zergs in his class.
Instructor Horik had been keeping track of time, and upon seeing Lu Yuan as the first to arrive, he raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
At this moment, his mood might be similar to that of Yusto: perplexed by the peculiar male zerg.
Lu Yuan stood in the same spot as last time, unchanged even when surrounded by the female zergs who couldn’t help but cast glances in his direction upon learning his gender.
Taking a glance, then blushing as they averted their eyes; taking another glance, blushing again as they looked away.
The female zergs, who used to maintain perfect discipline and straight lines, were now all turning their heads to sneak a look at Lu Yuan. Their formation became crooked and disorderly.
Unable to tolerate it any longer, Instructor Horik frowned and commanded, “Lu Yuan, step forward!”
Lu Yuan, unaware of what madness was about to unfold, could only step forward and respond, “Yes!”
“Follow my instructions, about-face, stand at attention in place for ten minutes!”
Instructor Horik did nothing more than move Lu Yuan’s position from within the formation to the front. Suddenly, all those female zergs turned their heads in unison, their gazes burning onto him, as if they were about to devour him.
Male zergs were in high demand, handsome male zergs even more so, and a physically fit and handsome male zerg was truly a rare breed. Clearly, after yesterday’s punishment of running laps, quite a few female zergs had developed an interest in Lu Yuan, wanting to get close to the sought-after prize.
Lu Yuan stood at the front of the formation, feeling the scrutiny of dozens of eyes. Finally, he understood why Instructor Horik had placed him there. He could only grit his teeth and endure, hoping that these ten minutes would pass quickly.
The neighboring Class Four also gathered on the field, similarly scolded by their instructor until they looked disheveled, resembling wilted chickens. Their instructor, Joey, liked to wander around and, upon seeing Lu Yuan being singled out for “standing punishment” raised an eyebrow in confusion, asking, “Isn’t this female zerg’s military posture quite standard? Why did you single him out?”
Instructor Horik glanced at him and asked with a sly smile, “Do you think he looks like a female zerg?”
Joey, now intrigued, questioned, “What do you mean?”
Instructor Horik frowned and, with a touch of impatience, uttered two words, “Male zerg.”
Joey was surprised by the revelation, “A male zerg? But he doesn’t look like one at all.”
Instructor Horik snorted, “Doesn’t look like one? I also think he doesn’t, but his file clearly states ‘male zerg’ and it was personally approved by General Saphir for admission.”
Instructor Joey took some pleasure in the misfortune, patting his shoulder and saying, “It’s normal. Every incoming class will have a few popular male zergs. It looks like this year’s ‘grand prize’ is going to your class. Take it easy, pal.”
No instructor wanted a “celebrity” like Lu Yuan in their class because behind popular male zergs, there were always numerous followers. If any trouble arose, it would be difficult to punish or scold them, as it would inevitably stir up public anger. In a sense, such figures were synonymous with trouble.
Instructor Horik’s mood wasn’t as bad as Instructor Joey imagined. From the current perspective, Lu Yuan didn’t show any signs of causing trouble. Hinting at something, Instructor Horik said, “Enough with your false sympathy. If you have time to worry about me, you might as well take care of your own class.”
The female zergs from the neighboring class almost twisted their necks trying to sneak a peek at Lu Yuan.
While the freshmen were undergoing military training, the second-year students were attending classes. Every morning at eight o’clock was the time for the routine discipline inspection. Due to the stringent school regulations that couldn’t be strictly enforced on each individual, and to prevent incidents of bullying on campus, they conducted inspections promptly every day. At Bardell Academy, the disciplinary team served as another invisible line of rules.
Students playing around in the classroom quickly noticed the group of disciplinary team members in black uniforms appearing at the end of the corridor. They hastily stashed away any rule-violating items on their desks. Even the female zergs who were ready to spar and practice fighting interrupted their activities and sat back at their desks, eagerly engaging in morning self-study.
Yusto walked at the forefront, followed by zergs like Yulejia. Every time they passed by a classroom door, they scrutinized through the glass windows, their gazes as sharp as eagles, checking for any violations.
Whether they were freshmen or sophomore students, from the day they entered Bardell Academy, all their files were neatly arranged on the desk in the disciplinary office. Every detail of their lives, experiences, and character strengths and weaknesses were recorded. Those with a history of fighting or violence were considered “high-priority focus”.
This time, the trouble seemed to be in the sophomore Class Nine.
Yusto noticed a nervous-looking male zerg sitting in the corner through the window. His black military boots paused slightly as he, accompanied by the disciplinary members, walked straight into the classroom. The vast room fell into an unusual silence with their arrival, and an inexplicable tension filled the air.
“Disciplinary routine inspection.”
Yusto’s voice carried no emotions. As soon as he spoke, the disciplinary members behind him dispersed in pairs, beginning to check for prohibited items in the desks’ drawers. Accompanied by the sound of clattering and clinking, the teacher’s podium quickly piled up with a pink-colored substance.
The pink-colored substance, equivalent to a suppressant, brought about a sense of euphoria more than ten times higher than regular suppressants. Many females nearing their estrus period chose to inject this substance. However, due to its addictive nature, it had long been classified as a prohibited item.
Of course, more importantly, many males took advantage of the situation to administer this substance to females for their undisclosed motives.
Yusto, following the academy regulations, proficiently examined the vials of the substance on the teacher’s podium. It was evident that this situation was not the first occurrence: “Private possession of prohibited items results in a deduction of one credit. Those with a history of offenses will face double deductions.”
The male zerg who had the substances confiscated sighed in regret, cursing his unfortunate luck for running into the wind of the disciplinary measures today.
Yulejia raised an eyebrow, lowering his voice as he remarked to Yusto, “If they’re facing double deductions, those troublemakers might have to drop out tomorrow.”
Yusto responded with a sarcastic tone, “These guys should have dropped out a long time ago. What use do males have for storing these substances other than intoxicating females? To comfort their brains, not even the size of soybeans?” After his remark, he gestured for his companion to secure the confiscated items and promptly left Class Nine.
Yulejia saw the situation and quickly caught up with Yusto, feeling that something had been off with him since he returned yesterday. He inquired, “Hey, what’s going on with you? You look like you’ve had a bad day. Was the date with His Excellency Lu Yuan not enjoyable yesterday?”
Yusto slightly paused upon hearing the words, and that strange feeling inside him surged again. He raised an eyebrow, absentmindedly adjusting his collar. “Who told you we went on a date?”
Giving him a knowing look, Yulejia spoke with a teasing tone, “Of course, I guessed it. Females and males can’t have pure friendship; you guys didn’t go out for a date, did you? Maybe it was for a fight?”
Yusto thought it was indeed for a fight. His Excellency Lu Yuan had been relentless, and seeing Wengel still in the hospital was a sign of how serious the injuries could be. In case that blasted old guy wanted to avenge his precious cub, it would be another troublesome matter.
The military building directly faced the drill ground, and as Yusto and his group walked through the corridor, they noticed the freshmen standing at attention below. Lu Yuan stood alone at the forefront of the formation, looking conspicuously out of place.
Observing the scene, Yulejia clicked his tongue. “Could he be standing there as a punishment?”
Upon hearing this, Yusto instinctively looked toward the drill ground. True enough, he spotted Lu Yuan standing alone at the front of the formation, with all the surrounding females staring at him as if he were an exhibit rather than someone being punished.
Yusto fell silent for a moment. Then, after a short pause, he suddenly chuckled and remarked, “Perhaps it’s just because he’s too popular.”
When he uttered those words, his gaze remained fixated on the male zerg, observing him objectively for the first time. The morning breeze seemed to carry away something akin to prejudice from his heart.
Horik, the instructor, demanded that all male zergs assemble on the drill ground within ten minutes. Fortunately, with the lesson from yesterday, they dared not be late and hurriedly ran down to form up.
Observing their awkward stances, coupled with memories of yesterday’s dormitory commotion, Horik’s brows furrowed so tightly that one could almost crush a fly between them. He scolded sternly, “Stand at attention properly! What’s with all this squirming and twisting? Are you a bunch of maggots?!”
His voice carried a tremendous sense of intimidation, causing the male zergs to instantly straighten their bodies, fearing they might be singled out for a punitive run.
Horik, the instructor, observed the reaction with a slightly improved expression. He paced back and forth in front of the formation with his hands behind his back, seemingly contemplating a matter. After a brief moment, he spoke again, dropping a bombshell in a calm manner, “Starting today, you will begin elective courses. I can’t be watching over you every second, so I’d like to select a class monitor among you to be responsible for maintaining order in the class.”
The selection of a class monitor wasn’t unusual; almost every class had one. Besides physical training, the male zergs also had various military theory courses taught by different instructors. In Horik’s absence, there needed to be a male zerg to manage class discipline.
The Zerg race inherently possessed a competitive gene, and even the male zergs were no exception. After all, the lure of power was on par with wealth.
Upon hearing Horik, the instructor, mention the selection of a class monitor, their ears perked up, especially a blue-haired male zerg named Brian. The determination in his eyes was barely concealed.
Brian was a smooth-talking male zerg who had been forming alliances with other male zergs since the first day of school. He even invited them to a party in the dormitory yesterday, and in just two days, he had gathered a small group of followers. If there were voting rules in place, he would likely be the first choice.
However, Instructor Horik shattered Brian’s illusions with his next words: “After observing these two days, I have carefully considered it. I have decided to appoint Lu Yuan as your acting class monitor. In the future, when I am not around, you must follow his management. Understood?”
This statement left not only the other students bewildered, but even Lu Yuan, who had been lost in thought at the front of the formation, was startled. He instinctively asked, “What? You want me to be the class monitor?”
Having never received even a little red flower in kindergarten, Lu Yuan was astonished that Instructor Horik would choose him to be the class monitor. Was he hearing correctly?
Seeing his surprised expression, Horik raised an eyebrow and said, “Just an acting class monitor. If you don’t do well, I can remove you from the position at any time.”
He didn’t want to pick Lu Yuan as the class monitor either, but he had no choice. Female zergs couldn’t control these male zergs at all, so he had to make do with what he had.
Upon hearing this, Lu Yuan’s eyelids twitched uncontrollably. He was about to say something when an angry voice rang out from the formation. A blue-haired male zerg suddenly stepped forward, declaring, “Instructor, this is unfair!”
Instructor Horik frowned and looked at the zerg. It was the one who had organized the gathering yesterday. “Oh? Why do you think it’s unfair?”
Brian proudly raised his chin. “The class monitor should be elected by everyone through a vote, not based on your personal preferences. What qualifies Lu Yuan to be the class monitor?!”
Reed, who was Lu Yuan’s little follower, instinctively retorted, “He stands at attention very well! Look, how straight he stands!”
Lu Yuan: “???”
Still flaunting like this?
Brian sneered at the comment, “Choosing a class monitor is not the same as choosing a flag bearer. What’s the use of standing straight? If the instructor insists on choosing him as the class monitor, please give me a convincing reason.”
Instructor Horik was short-tempered and clearly not inclined to tolerate the unruly behavior of these male zergs. He responded with an expressionless face, “Reason? The reason is that I am responsible for managing all aspects of your affairs in the academy, and you must unconditionally obey the orders of your superiors. If you feel dissatisfied, you can leave school and go home at any time!”
Brian was taken aback and widened his eyes in disbelief, “You..!”
However, Horik ignored him and blew a sharp whistle, “Dismissed, go have breakfast. Assemble at the military building at nine o’clock, not one minute less!”
After the team disbanded, many female zergs approached one after another to congratulate Lu Yuan on becoming the class monitor. Although Lu Yuan himself had not fully grasped what had happened, the female zergs were already offering their congratulations.
“Congratulations, Your Excellency, on becoming the class monitor. If you need any help in the future, feel free to command me. I am more than happy to assist you.”
“Your Excellency, I am also willing to serve you. My name is Leech; please don’t forget my name.”
“Your Excellency, congratulations…”
Lu Yuan, with his temples pulsating, watched as the female zergs one by one came forward to offer their congratulations. He hadn’t even agreed to be the class monitor, how come Instructor Horik decided on it so abruptly?
A mere class monitor—Lu Yuan had no interest in such a position. In his previous school, he had fought with nearly ten individuals, and becoming a class monitor was far from appealing to him.
Just as Lu Yuan was about to catch up with Instructor Horik to express his disinterest in being the class monitor, he had not walked two steps when someone forcefully pushed his shoulder. Immediately after, a chilly voice echoed in his ears, sounding resentful, “Feeling proud of yourself, aren’t you?”
Lu Yuan instinctively raised his head and found that in front of him, a group of figures had appeared, led by none other than Brian, the blue-haired male zerg. Whether out of dissatisfaction or something else, Brian, along with his entourage, had surrounded Lu Yuan, and it seemed like they meant trouble.
Lu Yuan, in a moment of confusion, questioned, “Do you have something to talk to me about?”
As soon as he finished speaking, his shoulder was pushed again, and Brian spoke with a harsh tone, “What do you think?”
“…”
As Lu Yuan found himself surrounded, he lowered his head, pondering for a moment. Suddenly, an incredible thought crossed his mind:
These zergs…
Could they be trying to bully him on campus???
