Every female zerg, without exception, undergoes profound marking with immense pain. This agony, distinct from battlefield injuries, is often accompanied by an unimaginable sense of shame because it means they must completely expose themselves to the male zergs.
“Do not resist, do not struggle, and do not keep your back too straight in front of the male zergs; submission is the key to pleasing them.”
These were the words once spoken by Professor Wilson in class. His weathered voice, filled with resentment and a hint of sorrow, echoed in the air.
As Yusto lay on the bed, he belatedly felt a sense of unease because he knew he would never learn the techniques to please the male zergs. He wasn’t even sure whether the marking brought him humiliation or pleasure.
The outside world only instructed them to endure the pain.
Lu Yuan observed all the changes in Yusto’s expression, thinking that this normally fearless female zerg seemed to be afraid at the critical moment. He leaned over, gently stroking Yusto’s cheek with his fingertips, as if trying to dispel the unease within. His voice, somewhat muffled in the night, said, “Yusto, you can still change your mind now.”
Lu Yuan’s gentle demeanor unconsciously reassured Yusto.
Yusto would not give up. He reached out, encircling Lu Yuan’s neck, and in a hoarse voice, he said, “Kiss me…”
He repeated, “Lu Yuan, kiss me…”
He changed his address, no longer calling Lu Yuan “Your Excellency” and not addressing him with formalities. However, Lu Yuan showed no sign of anger. Instead, he bent down to kiss Yusto as per his request. The kisses fell like a dense drizzle, creating faint ripples, tender to the extreme.
Outside, rain began to fall at an unknown time. The curtain was lifted by the wind, revealing winding, fragmented water streaks on the glass window. In the midst of a gentle patter, the rain soaked the night, leaving only a dripping darkness.
With the dim light and the sound of rain, Yusto’s gaze became trance-like. He felt no pain, only witnessing a play of fragmented light and a pair of mysterious yet gentle black eyes.
It had been unknown how much time had passed since their first encounter in the Solitiam Forest. It always felt like a brief moment, yet also seemed like a long time. Now, lying together on a bed, the experience felt dreamlike and unreal.
In the latter part of the night, the sound of rain gradually subsided.
Lu Yuan was sound asleep, unaware that at some point, Yusto had quietly uncovered himself from the blanket and walked to the bathroom.
After being marked, a female zerg’s body would undergo some changes to varying degrees. Yusto switched on the light, gazing at the mirror at the back of his neck. He noticed that the golden patterns on his body had deepened, indicating that he had been successfully marked by Lu Yuan.
The female zerg in the mirror unconsciously bit his lip. Despite the lingering desire at the corners of his eyes and brows, a hint of weakness was evident. Yusto rubbed his abdomen and, lowering his head, slowly exhaled. Despite Lu Yuan’s earlier gentleness, the pain from the breaking of the mark was inevitable, and there was still a lingering discomfort.
Muttering something under his breath, Yusto turned off the bathroom light and, navigating in the dark, returned to the bed. Lu Yuan seemed to sense something, habitually rolled over, and pulled him into his arms, absentmindedly running his fingers through Yusto’s fluffy hair. He seemed like he wanted to say something, but due to drowsiness, his voice was muffled and somewhat indistinct.
Yusto, entwining his legs around Lu Yuan’s under the blanket, obediently nestled in his embrace. “What did you want to say?” he asked.
Lu Yuan, slow to respond, opened his eyes after a moment, then closed them again, nuzzling his face against Yusto’s neck. He whispered, “Still uncomfortable?”
Yusto shook his head.
Lu Yuan asked again, “Are you comfortable?”
In truth, Lu Yuan wanted to ask about his own performance, but he felt hesitant to be too direct. Lu Yuan could only recall Yusto crying in the first half of the night until his voice became hoarse and his eyes turned red, making him look pitiful. Anyone unaware might think he had suffered some form of mistreatment.
Yusto thought it was a strange question. In the darkness, he gently pecked Lu Yuan’s ear, his eyes still slightly red, and in a hoarse voice, lazily said, “Your pheromones are delicious…”
This was the truth, a complete and honest truth.
Lu Yuan seemed somewhat skeptical, “Really?”
Yusto replied, “Really.”
Lu Yuan questioned further, “You’re not deceiving me?”
Yusto assured, “Not deceiving you.”
Lu Yuan said, “Then swear to the Zerg God.”
Yusto hesitated.
Yusto chuckled sarcastically, thoroughly amused by Lu Yuan’s attempt to make him swear. It irritated Yusto to the point that he felt an itching sensation in his teeth. “You marked me. What does that have to do with the Zerg God? Would he know more than me?!”
Lu Yuan thought it over and figured Yusto had a point. Pressing Yusto’s head into his chest, covering them both with the blanket, he decisively said, “No more talking, sleep!”
This time, neither of them played around, and they finally drifted off peacefully into sleep.
Yusto had just been marked, and his body was significantly weakened. However, as the next day dawned, he found himself waking up spontaneously due to the natural rhythm of his body clock. Out of habit, he reached out to the side of the bed, only to discover that Lu Yuan’s figure was nowhere to be found.
Huh? Did he go to class?
Yusto furrowed his brow and sat up on the bed, surveying the surroundings. The air was eerily silent, without a single sound. In the end, he finally confirmed that Lu Yuan was not in the dormitory.
Damn…
Yusto cursed in his mind, finding the abrupt departure of the male zergs once they were done, truly annoying. Resigned, he threw off the blanket, got out of bed, and began dressing. Not only did Lu Yuan have classes to attend, but he also had his own lessons to go to. After enduring that experience, he now had to get up early to study. What a crappy zerg life.
Lu Yuan had just finished the morning military training exercise and was carrying breakfast back from the cafeteria. Upon returning to the dormitory, he found Yusto sitting on the bed, already in the process of getting dressed. He couldn’t help but pause for a moment before closing the door behind him and asking, “Why are you up so early?”
Yusto instinctively looked up at the mention and was surprised to find Lu Yuan back, still wearing his training uniform with a sweaty back, indicating he had just finished the exercise. “Aren’t you supposed to be in class?” he asked.
Lu Yuan lowered his gaze and glanced at his wrist terminal, “Not in a hurry. There’s still more than half an hour.”
He finished by placing the breakfast on the table, one item at a time, until the entire table was filled. Lu Yuan then told Yusto, “Go wash your face and brush your teeth, then come over for breakfast. I included some things you might like.”
Yusto sat on the edge of the bed without moving, staring at Lu Yuan with a peculiar expression. “Did you just go out to buy breakfast?” he asked.
Lu Yuan thought, not only did I buy breakfast, but I also went for a run. He glanced at Yusto, half-smiling, and asked, “What else? Did you think I went out for something else? Grab a quick bite and slip away?”
Yusto snorted coldly, “You can’t slip away.”
After marking the Seventh Prince of the Empire, he thought about slipping away? Where could he find such a good thing?
However, Yusto’s previously bad mood had inexplicably improved. After finishing his morning routine, he took a seat at the table and stared at the array of food. He wondered if Lu Yuan had brought the entire cafeteria to their dormitory. “Why did you buy so much?” he asked.
Lu Yuan responded matter-of-factly, “To nourish your body.”
Wasn’t it mentioned in the textbooks? Female zergs are usually weaker after their first marking. Unfortunately, their dormitory lacked a kitchen for making soup and meals, so they had to make do with the cafeteria’s dishes for now.
Yusto felt oddly guilty, as this kind of post-preparation seemed to be the responsibility of female zergs. After all, the male zergs worked “hard” throughout the night, and the next day the female zergs were expected to prepare delicious meals for them, including but not limited to massages and other forms of pampering.
Yusto gave Lu Yuan a complex look, biting his lip before saying, “You… actually don’t need to do all this.”
Where would you find a male zerg lowering himself to this extent?
Lu Yuan shrugged it off, placing a bowl of hot soup in front of Yusto, gesturing for him to drink it while casually asking, “If I don’t do it, who will? Do you plan on marrying another male zerg in the future?”
Yusto frowned in retort, “Of course not.”
Lu Yuan chuckled, “Well then, just drink it while it’s hot.”
He also felt a bit guilty. After all, he had mentioned before that he would mark Yusto only after marriage, but yesterday he had unintentionally crossed that line. While it might not mean much for male zergs, it posed a significant risk for female zergs. Any slight misstep could lead to ruin.
Lu Yuan didn’t want Yusto to feel wronged or develop any negative thoughts about their union.
Yusto lowered his head, sipping the soup calmly. Although he appeared composed, his heart was practically bubbling with joy, evident in the corners of his eyes and brows.
Lu Yuan noticed that Yusto still seemed a bit under the weather, concerned that he hadn’t rested well after yesterday’s events. “Once you finish eating, go back to bed and rest. I’ll bring you lunch when I come back after class,” he suggested.
Yusto glanced at the time after hearing Lu Yuan’s suggestion, “I still have a class in the morning. I need to go to the classroom in fifteen minutes.”
Lu Yuan responded, “Oh, you don’t have to go. I just asked Yulejia to help you get a leave of absence.”
“Pfft—!”
Yusto was nearly choked by the soup when he heard this unexpected news. In a rare moment of losing his composure, he quickly turned away from the food, covering his mouth with a handkerchief to suppress the coughing. He looked at Lu Yuan in astonishment and asked, “You got me a leave of absence?! How did you manage that?!”
Lu Yuan thought, how else could he have done it? “I told Yulejia that you weren’t feeling well today and might not be able to attend class. I asked him to help you request a leave from the teacher.”
Yusto instinctively asked, “What did Yulejia say?”
After a moment of contemplation, Lu Yuan replied, “He didn’t say much, just advised you to rest well.”
However, there was a distinctly sour and envy-laden tone in his voice.
“…”
Yusto thought that Yulejia, usually so crafty, probably had a good guess about the situation. However, for adult female zergs, this kind of occurrence was quite normal, and there wasn’t much to be surprised about.
Silently taking a sip of water to calm his nerves, Yusto didn’t expect Lu Yuan to do so much so early in the morning. “What about you? Are you going to class later?” he asked.
Lu Yuan nodded, “I have free combat training later. Instructor Horik doesn’t allow any leave of absence. You rest in the dormitory, and if you need anything, just message me.”
Upon hearing this, Yusto raised an eyebrow casually, thinking that free combat training was such a simple thing—why would one need to practice? Adjusting his sitting posture on the chair, he seemed to be hinting at something. In a haughty tone, he said to Lu Yuan, “Actually, I can teach you this course, and I can do it better than him.”
Lu Yuan, realizing it was time to go to the classroom, paused and raised an eyebrow at Yusto. “Yusto, I suggest you focus on retaking and passing the courses you failed before considering teaching me free combat.”
In Lu Yuan’s mind, Yusto was already a confirmed underachiever, and it would be absurd for him to entertain the idea of Yusto teaching him anything.
Upon hearing Lu Yuan’s response, Yusto’s smile faltered for a moment, and then he burst out in frustration, “Lu Yuan!”
Lu Yuan had already reached the door but turned back, enjoying Yusto’s agitated expression. It made him feel an itch of joy. “What’s the matter?” he asked.
“…”
Yusto didn’t say anything. There was a moment of silence, and then he unexpectedly reached out, pulled Lu Yuan’s neck down, and gave him a kiss on the face. The warm sunlight streamed in from the window, casting a golden edge on his silver hair, making it look even more fluffy.
“Just a kiss…”
Yusto whispered.
Lu Yuan was momentarily stunned, then he slowly leaned over and gave Yusto a kiss. In that moment, he felt a softness in his heart. “Rest well in the dormitory. I’ll be back after my class,” he said.
After uttering these words, he gently rubbed the rabbit’s head and then left the dormitory.
Little did he know that not long after Lu Yuan left, Yusto’s wrist terminal vibrated, displaying a message. After reading it with a furrowed brow, Yusto immediately put on his coat and hurriedly left the dormitory, heading back to the palace.
On the other side, Lu Yuan was in his combat class. It had been a considerable amount of time since his last hospitalization. Normally, both his physical fitness and techniques should have declined to some extent. However, under the watchful eye of Instructor Horik, and without going all out, they had been sparring for half an hour without a clear winner.
“Bang!”
Instructor Horik felt that continuing the match might ruin his reputation as an instructor. In the final move, he had to use all his strength, kicking Lu Yuan off the combat platform. His tone was a mix of anger and approval, whether scolding or praising him, “Good kid! Looks like your days in the hospital weren’t in vain!”
Lu Yuan struggled to get up from the ground, finding it strange himself. In his previous sparring sessions with Instructor Horik, he could only win by using technique, enduring for about ten moves at most. This time, he had endured for a full half-hour. Could it be that joyous events enhanced one’s combat strength?
He hadn’t heard that engaging in bed activities could increase combat strength, had he?
Lu Yuan was still unaware that, in a certain sense, his physical data was now very close to that of a female zerg due to the recent changes in his body. Yusto had forgotten to mention this to him. In the end, Lu Yuan attributed his newfound strength to the hospitalization experience. “Perhaps the injections at the interstellar hospital can enhance physical fitness. If you’re interested, you can stay there for a couple of days,” he suggested.
Instructor Horik sensed that Lu Yuan was mocking himself and scoffed in response, “Zerg shit! Do you think military females go to the hospital less often than males? I’ve never heard that hospital injections can enhance physical fitness.”
The combat classroom today was empty, with hardly any zergs coming for the class. Lu Yuan initially thought he was early, but as the class progressed, he didn’t see any other students arriving. Curious, he asked Instructor Horik, “Why haven’t I seen any females in class today? Where did they all go?”
Instructor Horik had a close relationship with General Saphir, and he was somewhat more informed than other zergs. The fact that Lu Yuan’s blood purity was 100% was currently only circulating among the nobility, but Horik was already aware of the inside story. He grinned sardonically and said, “Even someone of your esteemed status has things they don’t know about?”
Lu Yuan glanced around, making sure no one was eavesdropping on their conversation. “So, what’s happened?”
Instructor Horik wasn’t entirely sure, “It seems to be related to the elimination of pollution of the origin stones. The military issued orders this morning, requiring all military females to undergo examinations. They are screening for females of A-rank and above, including those with S-rank status who are also being conscripted.”
Upon hearing about the elimination of pollution of the origin stones, Lu Yuan’s heart skipped a beat, “But those females haven’t completed their studies yet. Is the military enlisting them directly for the forest operation?”
Instructor Horik shrugged, “It’s inevitable. The pollution level in the Solitiam Forest is too high. Sending females below A-rank would be sending them to their deaths. The military had no choice but to include the females from the academy in the screening process.”
Lu Yuan became increasingly alarmed. It seemed that the high-ranking officials of the Empire were already taking action on this matter. However, why didn’t General Saphir ever inform him about it? “Are only females allowed to go?”
Horik, the instructor, looked at him with interest, as if he could guess what Lu Yuan was thinking. “I’ve heard from General Saphir that you’re familiar with the paths in the forest. Although I’d love to have you help guide us, it’s quite evident that the Empire won’t let a 100% pure male zerg embark on such a risky venture.”
Lu Yuan also found this matter quite precarious and unconsciously furrowed his brows. “Is General Saphir in charge of the operation?”
However, Horik explained, “No, the leader of the forest operation will be a member of the royal family from the Gohedra House. It could either be His Majesty Emperor Apu or His Royal Highness Yusto. Besides them, there won’t be a third option.”
Clearing the polluted origin stones is of utmost importance, and if successful, it would be a tremendous achievement for the entire Empire. This level of responsibility is something other military leaders cannot bear, so it’s designated exclusively for members of the royal family.
