Han Yan embraced Gaien without uttering a word. His cool fingertips slid down the buttons of the female zerg’s shirt, unfastening them, and he pushed aside the fabric to gaze at the wound on the other’s abdomen.
It wasn’t too deep, but covered with gauze, slightly distracting.
Han Yan silently extinguished the cigarette in his hand, and with a flick of his fingertips, the remaining half of the cigarette butt accurately flew into a distant trash can. He spoke in a low voice, “This kind of thing should not happen again.”
Gaien didn’t really need to go to such lengths. Even if he and Sande were peacefully inside the dressing room, Han Yan wouldn’t suspect anything. He knew the nature of this female zerg in front of him quite well, and there was no connection to any “illicit affair”.
Stabbing oneself in the abdomen with a knife was too much…
It wasn’t just Gaien who felt at a loss; Han Yan himself also felt that way.
However, Gaien misunderstood his intention, saying, “I’m sorry. It won’t happen again next time.”
Sande quietly followed into the dressing room, driven by fleeting lascivious thoughts. Regardless, cohabiting with both male and female zergs carried certain risks, and such incidents should indeed not happen again.
Han Yan suddenly chuckled, “What do you think I’m talking about?”
Gaien met his gaze, slightly taken aback. It dawned on him belatedly that Han Yan was referring to his own wound, and he couldn’t quite articulate the mix of emotions he felt in that moment.
“My lord,”
Gaien suddenly spoke with a deep tone. He grasped Han Yan’s hand and slowly moved it to the wound on his abdomen. With closed eyes, he uttered, “If you don’t want to bow down, you can only get hurt.”
This was the fate of a female zerg.
Since Sande entered that room, there were only two paths awaiting Gaien – resist or submit. Resisting would inevitably come with the cost of shedding some blood.
Han Yan felt the rough texture of the gauze beneath his fingertips, lost in his thoughts. The tobacco scent in the air had gradually dissipated without a trace, and the pale smoke perhaps reminded him of the elusive clouds on the peak of Folang Village, or perhaps it brought back memories of being ridiculed and shunned as a child due to his lame leg.
Most villagers were simple and kind, but the minds of young children were not always so innocent, and malice was often the worst. Young Han Yan might not have been as cunning as he was now, but he always harbored a fierce determination. If someone bullied him, he would surely repay them a thousandfold, and the inevitable result was a bloody retaliation.
The one who ended up battered and bruised was always Han Yan.
After all, he was disabled, and a disabled person usually couldn’t contend with a group…
Those memories too painful to touch had been securely locked away in a box by Han Yan when he achieved success. He thought he would never recall them again in his lifetime. Yet, on this quiet night, accompanied by Gaien’s words, they surged back like a tide.
Han Yan’s ash-blue eyes squinted slightly, unconsciously furrowing his brows. His emotions were usually quite subdued, but this time, his brow furrowed unusually tightly, forming deep creases. It continued until a warm and delicate kiss fell on the side of his face, bringing him slowly back to reality.
Gaien, at some point, had freed himself from Han Yan’s embrace and now reached out to hold him instead. Sensing the profound melancholy in Han Yan’s aura, Gaien tried to pull him back from those drifting thoughts, bit by bit, clumsily kissing him in the process.
Han Yan embraced Gaien’s waist, asking, “What are you doing?”
Gaien replied, “I want to make you a little happier.”
Doing something else to shift attention might bring a bit of joy.
The female zerg’s kissing technique was still somewhat unfamiliar, not matching Han Yan’s self-taught mastery. Han Yan used his fingertips to trace the patterns on Gaien’s neck, suddenly realizing that it had been a long time since he had touched the other in this way. Lifting his hand, he took off his glasses and gently placed them on the table.
Han Yan finally chose not to dwell on those old matters and asked with genuine interest, “How do you want to make me happy?”
A faint smile played on his lips, finding it amusing. He wondered why this female zerg wanted to make him happy. Wasn’t this question insignificant? From the last life to this one, no one had ever cared about his emotions, including Han Yan himself. Why should Gaien bother to care?
Caring about such things seemed like a waste of time and had no benefits whatsoever.
Why did Gaien have to care?
The more Han Yan thought about it, the more amusing it seemed. Yet, as he laughed, the amusement faded, and the curve of his lips returned to indifference. The female zerg continued to earnestly kiss him, like two wild beasts in the jungle licking each other’s wounds. It even gave Han Yan a strange illusion, as if he, too, had turned into a pitiful and disheveled little creature like Gaien.
Han Yan remained silent, allowing the female zerg to sit on his left leg. His fingertips traced along the loose trouser leg, slipping inside and moving along the gruesome scar on the lower leg until reaching the knee.
Gaien’s right leg trembled for a moment, as if trying to avoid the touch, but for some reason, he didn’t. No matter how many times this crippled leg was touched, an indescribable sense of embarrassment and unease would arise within him. However, today Han Yan seemed a bit displeased, and he wanted to comfort Gaien in some way.
Han Yan whispered, “Don’t like being touched here?”
Gaien, seated on his leg, shook his head slightly, his voice hoarse, “This belongs to you now.”
The tips of the female zerg’s eyes reddened, a clear sign of arousal. He took Han Yan’s hand and slowly moved it to his abdomen, the location of his reproductive organs, smiling as he softly said, “This is yours too…”
Gaien held Han Yan’s hand and continued to move it slowly upward, inch by inch, until it reached his heart, where warm blood, flesh, and bones contained something pulsating, “And here too…”
He said earnestly, “This is yours as well.”
It was a warm, vigorously beating heart.
A stray dog had offered him its heart, unlike the coldness of money; it carried a warmth that was almost too hot to handle.
In his past life, Han Yan possessed staggering wealth, lacked neither fame nor fortune, and had power beyond measure. Countless treasures flowed through his fingertips like a river, yet it seemed that no one had ever handed him a genuinely warm and sincere heart.
No one…
Really, no one…
Han Yan struggled to think for a long, long time. In his mind, all that seemed to emerge were the cold, exquisite collectibles on ancient shelves. Those items lacked any warmth and could be easily bought with money. They paled in comparison to the precious warmth emanating from the heart before him.
Han Yan closed his eyes and kissed Gaien, his voice carrying a gentle sensation in the vast night. It might be an illusion or maybe not—an actual tenderness. He tightly covered Gaien’s heart with his palm, asking in a tone that lacked any discernible emotion, “Belongs to me?”
Gaien’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he replied, “Yes, it belongs to you…”
He had nothing else more precious.
A wandering and destitute soul was inherently devoid of belongings.
Upon hearing those words, Han Yan silently tightened his fingertips, as if grasping something profound. He shifted his posture, swiftly pinning Gaien beneath him, carefully avoiding the other’s wound. After a moment, he chuckled softly and, word by word, spoke in a low voice, “Alright, I accept.”
Gaien couldn’t articulate why, but he felt genuinely happy. He tilted his head, attempting to kiss Han Yan passionately, hoping the male zerg would provide him with more. However, his wrist was restrained, and Han Yan’s deep voice echoed in his ears, “You’re injured.”
Gaien opened his eyes in the darkness, and the red mole beneath the corner of his eye seemed like a drop of blood hanging from his heart, “Gently, okay?”
He encircled Han Yan’s neck, closing his eyes and murmuring, “I miss your pheromones.”
For a military female, a knife wound to the abdomen wasn’t much of a concern. Their bodies were far more resilient than those of humans.
Han Yan wasn’t one to indulge in desires, but with Gaien, it seemed as if he broke that pattern time and time again. He raised his hand, gently brushing aside the female zerg’s disheveled hair, finally acquiescing without showing any emotion. However, he leaned slightly forward and kissed the gruesome scar on Gaien’s knee.
Gaien’s body trembled violently for a moment.
Yet, Han Yan was smiling.
Han Yan liked Gaien’s right leg.
Han Yan didn’t mind that the leg was disabled.
He wasn’t as fortunate as Gaien.
In his past life, no one had ever caressed his disability so tenderly…
Han Yan held Gaien, and in the end, he marked him with utmost gentleness.
Outside the window, thin clouds drifted, and the cool moonlight gently descended, illuminating the simulated flower bed in the backyard. The branches and leaves curled, refusing to stretch out, much like sensitive and suspicious people who stubbornly concealed their hearts.
When Gaien said that his heart belonged to Han Yan, Han Yan believed him. It was as if he wanted to dissect the female zerg’s body, stubbornly searching within that pile of flesh and bones for the heart that belonged to him.
The scent of pheromones filled the entire room, that damp fragrance with a hint of bitter rainforest wood, but this time, it was as if someone had opened an umbrella, shielding the falling rain.
Gaien’s mind went blank, his vision blurred. In the end, amidst the haze, he felt the male zerg gently covering his abdominal wound. Han Yan’s voice, nonchalant yet deep, came through, “This won’t happen again.”
Han Yan didn’t like to see his possessions get hurt.
Gaien’s eyelashes trembled, “Yes… I promise… there won’t be a second time…”
The robust stamina of an S-class military female zerg wasn’t confirmed in Gaien; he was so exhausted that he couldn’t even crawl. Han Yan had to carry him into the bathroom and give him a simple cleaning before returning to tidy himself up.
The bathroom door didn’t provide complete sound isolation, and the splashing water sounded as if rain had fallen in this enclosed space.
When Han Yan came out of the bathroom after showering, he found Gaien still awake. The female zerg was lying in bed with his back turned, doing something that Han Yan couldn’t quite discern.
Han Yan approached and discovered a pile of scattered beads in Gaien’s hands. It seemed that Gaien had accidentally bumped into something while trapped in the dressing room today, causing the sandalwood beads on his wrist to loosen and completely fall apart just now.
Gaien frowned, attempting to string the beads back together. However, due to the gauze wrapped around his hand, he couldn’t manage to string them together, and every time he tried to tie a knot, his fingertips would shake, causing the beads to instantly scatter across the bed.
Han Yan directly lifted the covers, sending a gust of cool air along with it. He lay on the pillow, lightly closing his eyes and saying, “Let’s do it tomorrow. It’s late; go to sleep first.”
While the sandalwood beads were precious, they held no exorbitant value in Han Yan’s eyes. At most, they were just a trinket. He clearly had no intention of wasting any thought on such things.
Gaien hesitated for a moment at Han Yan’s words but didn’t heed them. He lowered his head, carefully retrieving each bead and, pursing his lips, continued stringing them together in the darkness. His expression was focused and somewhat obsessive.
“…”
Han Yan silently opened his eyes, and whether it was a trick of the mind or not, it seemed like the man let out a sigh. Sitting upright on the bed, he elegantly gathered the scattered beads with a gentle pinch of his slender fingertips. Then, he threaded each bead onto the string, tying a secure and beautiful knot.
Gaien watched him in silence, not saying a word.
Han Yan gestured for him to extend his hand, and he delicately placed the bead string on Gaien’s wrist. He succinctly said, “Go to sleep.”
This time, Gaien obediently lay down, finally quieting down. Gradually, he moved closer to Han Yan’s side and, with closed eyes, began to drift into sleep.
Han Yan, with his eyes open, stared at the ceiling, feeling like he had forgotten something. However, his mind was filled with too many things, making it impossible for him to recall. He gave up trying to think about it.
His memory was relatively good, and if he couldn’t remember, it likely meant that whatever it was didn’t matter much. Therefore, Han Yan slept peacefully.
On the other side, Johnny sat bewildered on the sofa in the prince’s mansion’s living room. The entire male zerg seemed dumbfounded: What’s going on? He merely went to the dining area for a meal, spent some time playing games in the entertainment room, and when he came out, the entire banquet hall was empty. Where was his brother?
Prince Pei clearly hadn’t expected Johnny to end up here. Since the incident in the dressing room, the banquet had dispersed in disarray, and the guests had left. He was preparing to rest and sleep. Why hadn’t Johnny left yet?
Prince Pei furrowed his brows and subconsciously looked at the butler, “Why is His Excellency Johnny still here?”
The butler in charge of cleaning the banquet hall lowered his voice and explained to Prince Pei, “Your Highness, His Excellency Johnny has been in the game room playing the whole time. We only discovered him when we were cleaning just now. Should we call Admon’s residence to inform them?”
This kind of important event is usually an opportunity to network. Who with sound judgment would hide in the game room for hours during such a significant banquet? The butler was astonished when he found Johnny just now.
Prince Pei glanced at the clock on the wall, realizing it was already midnight. Most zergs were already asleep, and making a phone call at this hour might cause disturbance. He waved his hand, signaling the butler to step back, “Forget it. You all go ahead and tidy up the banquet hall.”
Prince Pei finished speaking and walked towards Johnny, taking a seat nearby. He couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless, finding the male zerg somewhat foolish. “Your Excellency Johnny, due to a little incident at the banquet just now, His Excellency Ashya and Gaien left early. Unfortunately…”
Prince Pei paused before finally saying, “Unfortunately, they unintentionally left you behind.”
The situation seemed a bit absurd to Prince Pei. After all, male zergs were quite precious, and it was usually the females who got forgotten. How could a male zerg be left behind in such a manner? This thought brought a slight smile to Prince Pei’s face.
Upon hearing this, Johnny was initially confused and then expressed his surprise, asking, “Incident? What kind of incident?”
He had been too engrossed in eating and missed the drama.
After a moment of consideration, Prince Pei decided not to go into too much detail. The situation was too complex, and they hadn’t fully figured it out yet. He simply said, “Gaien accidentally got injured. His Excellency Ashya probably took him to the hospital, so they left without remembering to inform you.”
He expected Johnny to be angry, considering that, no matter how important a female zerg was, he couldn’t compare to a male zerg. It was only natural for a brother to forget when it involved his partner, and Johnny would have every right to be upset.
However, Johnny simply responded with an “Oh,” as if it were a common occurrence. He scratched his head in puzzlement and asked, “So, how am I supposed to get home then?”
Prince Pei, glancing at the time, suggested, “It’s already quite late. Why don’t you stay in one of the guest rooms for the night? Tomorrow, I’ll have the butler arrange for your transportation back.”
Although there is a difference in gender between Prince Pei and Johnny, their ages differ by several decades. Given the generational gap, it shouldn’t cause controversy if this became known.
Johnny was somewhat tempted by the suggestion but hesitantly scratched his head, asking, “Wouldn’t it be too much trouble?”
The prince’s residence was indeed too comfortable, not only offering an abundance of delicious food but also a complete set of gaming cards. Johnny was already enjoying himself and was reluctant to return to the small villa under Han Yan’s dark rule.
Prince Pei smiled and shook his head, “Your Excellency, it’s just a small favor, no need to worry about it.”
Having said that, he ordered the butler to bring some drinks and snacks. Meanwhile, preparations were made for a guest room on the third floor. The prince displayed considerate manners, taking care of every detail to make Johnny feel comfortable.
After playing games for a few hours, Johnny felt a bit hungry. Without much ceremony, he grabbed a piece of cake and began eating. His demeanor seemed simple and carefree, a complete contrast to Han Yan, who was meticulous and strategic in his actions.
Prince Pei took a sip of wine, remembering the software development business that Han Yan mentioned in the study earlier. Curious, he inquired casually, “His Excellency Ashya’s personality has changed a lot since leaving the hospital. What does he usually do at home? I rarely see him appearing in public.”
Johnny nodded emphatically, agreeing with the observation, “Indeed, Ashya has changed a lot. Now he forces me to cook at home every day, something he never cared about before.”
As for what Han Yan is busy with, sorry, Johnny has no idea.
Prince Pei, hearing Johnny talk about cooking, couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow in surprise. “Cooking? Isn’t the food in your mansion prepared by Gaien?”
After all, the Admon family is full of males, and with the only female monarch and consort still on the battlefield, according to tradition, it should be Gaien’s responsibility to take care of the household.
However, Johnny proudly shook his head. “No, I’m the one who cooks at home.” He selectively ignored his comrade-in-arms Admon and his terrible cooking skills.
During chaotic times, it was Gaien who secretly helped him with breakfast.
Prince Pei couldn’t hide his surprise. “What about Gaien?”
Johnny thought for a moment and answered uncertainly, “In the room with my eldest brother?”
As far as he remembered, Gaien was always inseparable from Han Yan. They spent most of their time in the room together.
Prince Pei asked, “Does His Excellency Ashya treat Gaien well?”
Without much thought, Johnny replied, “Of course, he treats him well.”
He thought it was fine. Han Yan never scolded or yelled at Gaien, and Johnny had never seen him get angry at Gaien.
Prince Pei realized that Johnny was telling the truth and finally felt a bit relieved. For some reason, he didn’t press further and remained silent. He took a sip of his drink, and there was a hint of sigh in his words, “Well, that’s as good as it gets.”
He had been worried that his quiet and reserved nephew might be mistreated, but as he couldn’t directly intervene, knowing that Han Yan treated Gaien well put his mind at ease.
Johnny looked at him curiously, “Why did you sigh?”
With a slight drunkenness, Prince Pei chuckled, “The fate of females, that’s all.”
Johnny couldn’t understand what Prince Pei was talking about, and his curiosity grew. He subconsciously shifted closer to Prince Pei, asking, “What fate?”
Prince Pei didn’t respond verbally but instead, with a slightly drunken gaze, looked at the male zerg before him. It was like looking at a clean sheet of paper. He spoke softly, “You’ll understand in the future.”
Exceptional male zergs were rarer than their gender suggested, not something everyone could encounter…
The next morning, the first light of day appeared.
Han Yan didn’t go for his usual morning exercise routine; instead, he sat in front of the holocomputer, working on setting up the company. He had already prepared the necessary registration documents, but when it came to actual implementation, he realized there was a severe lack of working capital.
The net Han Yan cast was indeed vast, and the initial investment was quite substantial. If he wanted to monopolize the majority of the profits, he would have to bear this part of the capital himself. However, bank loan procedures were cumbersome, and even with the priority of male zergs, getting approval would take a minimum of four months.
Four months…
Han Yan stared at the detailed fund information on the light brain, subtly furrowing his brows. His fingertips tapped lightly on the table as he contemplated whether it was worth waiting for these four months. After all, the business landscape was ever-changing, and timing was crucial.
Four months, during which unforeseen events could unfold.
Lost in thought, Han Yan didn’t even notice when Gaien entered until he gently knocked on the door. Gaien limped in from the corridor, dressed differently from his usual attire. Today, he wore a neat military uniform and carried a breakfast tray. He reminded, “My lord, it’s time for breakfast.”
Han Yan’s gaze, hidden behind the lenses, remained fixed on the holocomputer. He responded with a casual “Mm,” when Gaien suggested eating.
Gaien glanced at the holocomputer screen, which displayed a dense array of financial transactions.
It seemed Han Yan was engrossed in some calculations or considerations. Gaien gently placed a star card on the table from his pocket and said, “My lord…”
Han Yan acknowledged with a simple “Mm.”
He didn’t turn around but continued to respond patiently.
Gaien added, “My marriage leave is over.”
Han Yan questioned, “Today?”
Gaien confirmed, “Yes, I’m returning to the military academy today.”
Han Yan’s fingers paused slightly on the keyboard when he heard this. He subconsciously looked at Gaien but suddenly noticed a golden star card on his desk. He picked it up and examined it, asking, “What is this?”
Gaien replied, “My salary card.”
Han Yan paused and questioned, “Salary card?”
Gaien explained, “I shared the access with you three days ago. Please help me keep it safe.”
After saying that, he seemed to recall something and added, “My lord, it seems that Johnny is missing.”
