ICAWZ Chapter 99

ARC 3: Exposure

Not long ago, His Majesty the Seventh Prince of the Western Empire, Yusto, was engaged to a male zerg of unknown origin. That male zerg had black hair, black eyes, and a blood purity of 100%. At that time, it caused quite a stir in Salaranfa.

General Mandy received some news, or perhaps confirmed something, and insisted on taking Xu Cenfeng away. Yesterday, there was even a big disturbance in the military, and the subordinates of both sides almost came to blows.

Faeus’ sharp eyebrows unconsciously furrowed upon hearing the secretary’s words. “Are you sure?”

The secretary nodded with a solemn expression, quietly speaking with a voice only they could hear, “It’s said that in the western territory, another male zerg with a blood purity of 100% was found in the past few days.”

Faeus frowned. “Another one found?”

Is the Zerg God blind? Why does the West always encounter such good fortune?!

The secretary nodded with envy, jealousy, and resentment. “Another one was found, and they all have black hair and black eyes.”

Black hair and black eyes?

Xu Cenfeng also has black hair and black eyes…

Faeus remained calm upon hearing this and gestured for the secretary to step back. He couldn’t help but think that the zergs in the West might believe that any male zerg with black hair and black eyes has a blood purity of 100%. While finding one could be considered normal, discovering two in succession with those characteristics seemed overly coincidental.

But wasn’t Xu Cenfeng’s blood purity only 35%?

Emotions surged within Faeus, but his expression had already returned to its usual calmness. He held up the photo of Xu Cenfeng, looked at it, and couldn’t help but recall the gentle smile of the male zerg from yesterday in bed. He thought to himself how foolish he was to let him go.

Faeus wouldn’t even part with him with a blood purity of 35%, let alone with 100%.

“I’ll take this male zerg. Apart from him, you can take any other male zergs,” Faeus reiterated.

General Mandy, seeing Faeus’ unyielding attitude, felt a surge of anger. He was never one for diplomacy, and he slammed his hand on the table. “Supreme Leader Faeus, this male zerg only has a blood purity of 35%! Are you willing to sacrifice five times the military supplies rather than hand him over?!”

Only by smelling the pheromones of the male zerg could the female military zergs completely relax their vigilance and open their reproductive cavity to complete the marking. Xu Cenfeng’s rank was simply not high enough to mark an S-class queen zerg. What use did Faeus have for keeping a vase that was neither here nor there?

These were probably the thoughts of all the generals present.

In the North, utility comes first, camaraderie second.

Although male zergs were rare and precious, a blood purity of 35% was not particularly uncommon. In comparison, it seemed much more cost-effective to accept five times the military supplies. After all, Xu Cenfeng was originally from the West, and forcibly detaining him might lead to trouble.

Several Northern generals whispered among themselves, all agreeing that it wasn’t worth causing unpleasantness over a single male zerg. General Wesley, who was Faeus’ uncle, furrowed his brow and took the initiative to speak up. “Supreme Leader, it’s just one male zerg. Since the West is willing to exchange him for five times the supplies, why not just give him back to them?”

Hossburgh was not solely dominated by Faeus’ influence. General Wesley commanded nearly one-third of the city’s forces and had followed the previous leader into life-threatening situations, granting him an exceptional status. At this moment, only he dared to offer advice.

However, Faeus was not swayed by this. Instead, he kept a close eye on General Mandy, implying something with his words. “I’m quite curious about what makes this male zerg so special that you’re willing to exchange him for five times the military resources. General Mandy, care to enlighten us on the reason?”

Faeus’ words shattered the thin veil of diplomacy, and the other Northern generals instantly sensed that something was amiss. While their leader’s reluctance could be attributed to being enchanted by beauty, why was General Mandy so stubbornly insisting on a male zerg with a blood purity of only 35%?

Mandy was taken aback by Faeus’ statement, his face turning ashen, unable to speak for a while.

Hawke, always hovering around Faeus, echoed his leader’s sentiments with a chilly tone. “General Mandy, could it be that you fancy this male zerg for his looks and harbor illicit intentions? Unfortunately, this male zerg is now devoted to our leader and won’t be swayed. You might be in for disappointment.”

The fabricated story almost had Faeus convinced.

General Mandy gritted his teeth. “That male zerg originally belonged to our Western territory. Is there anything wrong with wanting to take him back?!”

Finally showing some cunning, Mandy realized he couldn’t reveal that Xu Cenfeng’s blood purity was 100%. Otherwise, these Northern bandits would be even less inclined to let him go.

Faeus sneered disdainfully. “Isn’t it the West’s principle to prioritize the will of the male zergs? Now that this male zerg has willingly chosen to settle in our North, you wouldn’t forcibly take him back, would you? General Mandy, you have two options: either take the remaining five male zergs back to the West, or leave them all here. The choice is yours!”

The meeting ended in discord, with Faeus even leaving before it concluded. He and Hawke boarded an aircraft and rushed to the hotel where Xu Cenfeng was staying. Faeus’ expression was a mix of emotions: anger and satisfaction. “Did you conduct a blood test on Xu Cenfeng during his interrogation?”

Hawke shook his head, his face contorting. “Supreme Leader, we don’t conduct blood tests during interrogations. Once convicted, they’re sent directly to Blackstone Prison. The guards only check for weapons on them and rarely perform blood tests.”

Faeus sat back, closing his eyes and massaging his temples with his fingertips, lost in thought. After a moment, he finally spoke up. “Contact the doctors. Have them come immediately to conduct a blood test on Xu Cenfeng.”

Hawke was momentarily bewildered by the order. “But isn’t Xu Cenfeng’s blood purity 35%?”

Faeus slowly opened his eyes. Due to the dim light inside the cabin, his eyes turned into a mysterious dark green, full of ambiguous meaning. “We won’t know until we test.”

Indeed, a male zerg with a blood purity of 100% was incredibly rare. Once this news got out, even ten times the military supplies might not be enough to convince the higher-ups to agree to an exchange.

But at the same time, Faeus couldn’t shake off his doubts. If Xu Cenfeng really had a blood purity of 100%, why didn’t he mark Faeus last night?

He was eager for answers, but upon rushing to the hotel, he was met with emptiness. The room was vacant, devoid of any trace of Xu Cenfeng.

Let’s rewind time by half an hour.

Shortly after Faeus left for the military headquarters, Xu Cenfeng’s room received an unexpected visitor.

“Are you the male zerg who almost fought my cousin to a draw in yesterday’s arena match?”

Despite the luxurious and spacious hotel room, the sudden influx of zergs made it feel cramped. A red-haired female zerg in military uniform blocked the entrance to Xu Cenfeng’s room, accompanied by four or five guards, creating an imposing presence. He held a cup of soda in his hand, biting on the straw while scrutinizing Xu Cenfeng with suspicion. Muttering to herself, he said, “Skinny arms and legs, doesn’t look like someone who can fight. I wonder if they’re trying to trick me.”

The tone carried a hint of skepticism and disdain.

Upon seeing the red-haired female zerg at the door, Xu Cenfeng almost mistook him for Faeus returning unexpectedly. However, upon closer inspection, he realized it was Faeus’ cousin, Zog.

Zog was Faeus’ closest cousin among their generation, both in terms of relationship and appearance. They shared some resemblance, but while Faeus’ hair was a dark red, Zog’s was fiery red, and his demeanor exuded a more frivolous charm.

Xu Cenfeng had crossed paths with Zog a few times in his past life, but those encounters were far from pleasant. After all, Zog had always idolized Faeus as a deity and detested any disrespect towards him. Unfortunately, Xu Cenfeng happened to violate his taboo, leading to snide remarks and taunts every time they met.

But in this lifetime, they didn’t recognize each other.

Xu Cenfeng had already figured out that Zog was here to cause trouble, but if he could calm Faeus, he could certainly handle Zog, this inexperienced kid. So, pretending to be puzzled, he asked, “May I ask who you are…?”

Zog spat out the deformed straw from his mouth and chuckled lightly. “Zog, Faeus’ cousin.”

Yesterday, he had made arrangements to go hunting with a group of nobles outside of Hossburgh. That’s why he missed the thrilling scene at the Morhan Arena. Upon returning to the city, he learned that his cousin, who had always despised male zergs, had personally participated in the arena match and won a male zerg.

At first, Zog thought it was Hill, the one with the highest blood purity, as the news of his selection of a mate at the Morhan Arena had been circulating in the city. However, after his noble companions clarified, he realized it was a male zerg from the West.

I heard he’s very handsome?

I heard he’s quite skilled in fighting?

I heard his blood purity is only 35%?

Zog’s gaze fell upon the male zerg before him, with black hair and black eyes. He thought to himself that indeed, the male zerg was quite attractive, but he couldn’t see anything particularly special that would make Faeus make an exception.

He tossed his drink to one of his guards behind him and leaned against the door frame, crossing his arms. Zog addressed Xu Cenfeng with a casual tone, “Handsome little male zerg, I heard you come from the distant West. How about it? Would you like me to take you somewhere fun?”

Duoluo and Duoqi immediately stood guard in front of Xu Cenfeng, frowning as they warned, “General Zog, the Supreme Leader has ordered that no one is to disturb this gentleman. Please leave immediately!”

The whole of Hossburgh knew about Zog’s suave personality. Like Faeus, he had no fondness for male zergs, yet he was adept at manipulation. He particularly enjoyed seducing those male zergs who were vain and then playing with them like toys. His deliberate visit today was probably not well-intentioned.

Duoluo and Duoqi just hoped that this distinguished female zerg would leave soon to avoid any conflict.

“Tsk tsk tsk, I just wanted to invite this gentleman for a stroll in Hossburgh. Why are you so nervous? Stand back a bit and don’t disturb me while I talk to him,” Zog said, lightly clapping his hands. His guards immediately stepped forward to pull Duoluo and Duoqi aside. However, they didn’t anticipate Duoluo and Duoqi would point their guns directly at them, their tone serious. “General Zog, please don’t make things difficult for us. Otherwise, we’ll have no choice but to open fire!”

They had already narrowly escaped punishment from the leader after the incident at the arena yesterday. If something went wrong again today, they might not be so lucky.

Zog was also a troublemaker, otherwise he wouldn’t have idolized Faeus. Seeing the situation, he boldly stepped forward and used his chest to block the barrels of the guns, facing Duoluo and Duoqi. “Thinking of shooting, are you? Go ahead.”

Duoluo and Duoqi were taken aback. “You!”

As they stood at an impasse, Xu Cenfeng finally spoke up to intervene. He raised his hand to push down Duoluo’s gun barrel, gesturing for them to step aside. “Lower your guns—”

Duoluo hesitated, his expression revealing deep concern. “Your Excellency!”

Zog was not known for his good temperament; among the young nobles in the aristocratic circle, he was one of the most difficult to deal with.

Xu Cenfeng knew that Zog’s visit today was merely out of curiosity and a desire for excitement. The more they tried to stop him, the more determined he became. Looking at Zog in front of him, Xu Cenfeng thought to himself that he was indeed stubborn and fearless, no wonder he had died on a mission in the wilderness at Faeus’ behest in his past life. He spoke up, “Where do you want to take me?”

Zog grinned and snapped his fingers. With his charming peach-blossom eyes, he was clearly a master in the art of seduction. “How about Lagona Auction House? I have a few friends who just booked a private box there. I heard they’ve recently acquired some exquisite black pearls. If they catch your eye, I’ll bid on them and give them to you as a gift.”

In the North, male zergs lived a life of luxury, akin to canaries in a gilded cage. Their greatest pastime was collecting exquisite jewelry and fashionable clothes and accessories. Zog was well aware of the mentality of these male zergs, so his every move was always advantageous.

Xu Cenfeng felt that the name “Lagona Auction House” sounded somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t quite recall where he had heard it before. After pondering for a moment, he agreed, “Alright, but I’ll bring Duoluo and Duoqi along.”

Zog shrugged at him, spreading his hands. “Of course, as long as they don’t cause any trouble.”

Zog always wore a charming smile on his face, and his eyes seemed to be constantly emitting sparks of flirtation. Few male zergs could resist his allure. After speaking, he gentlemanly gestured for Xu Cenfeng to lead the way, but the moment Xu Cenfeng turned to leave, Zog’s expression instantly turned blank.

Hmph…

Zog sneered inwardly, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes. He lazily stretched as he followed behind, thinking to himself that the male zerg Faeus had chosen wasn’t all that impressive. Just a few pearls were enough to satisfy him. How boring.

Noble outings were always grand, and as Xu Cenfeng stepped out of the hotel, he saw several luxurious limited-edition aircraft parked below. Zog quickly stepped forward, opening the cabin door for Xu Cenfeng. Every move he made was like that of a seasoned player in the game of romance, smiling warmly as he said, “Your Excellency, please.”

“Thank you.”

Xu Cenfeng nodded in gratitude and then bent down to enter the interior of the aircraft. Zog couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at this sight. He closed the cabin door, thinking to himself that this male zerg was quite polite. Was Faeus attracted to this aspect of him?

It’s quite strange indeed. Faeus is notorious for being rude and foul-mouthed.

Zog shook his head, unable to understand the reason, so he decided to give up on thinking about it. He moved to the other side and took a seat in the aircraft, then directly ordered the driver to head towards the Lagona Auction House.

The culture in the Northern region was bold and uninhibited, without as many rigid rules as in the Western region. Consequently, there tended to be more “interesting” places. The Lagona Auction House was a prime example. It was said that there, they auctioned off things you couldn’t even imagine, and there was nothing they couldn’t handle. Everything from the living to the dead could be auctioned off.

Xu Cenfeng had never taken the time to truly understand this city covered in snow and wind in his previous life. As he sat near the cabin door of the aircraft, he couldn’t help but recall a rumor he had heard inadvertently in his previous life. However, unsure of its authenticity, he could only go see for himself.

If it turned out to be true, perhaps it could help Faeus tremendously…

The Lagona Auction House was situated in the heart of Hossburgh’s central district, not far from the Morhan Arena. These two places were the largest money-making hubs in the North, frequented by affluent clientele. After the aircraft arrived at the auction house’s entrance, Zog led Xu Cenfeng inside. The interior was adorned with opulence, boasting floors gleaming like mirrors and luxurious palace-like décor. Even the paintings hanging in the corridors were worth a fortune. However, the dim lighting added an air of mystery and decadence to the surroundings. It was a place of fame and fortune, as well as extravagance.

Nearby, the bustling attendants were predominantly females, with slender figures and graceful features. Upon seeing Zog escorting a remarkably handsome Western male into the establishment, they all bowed respectfully, offering promotional flyers for today’s auction items.

Zog waved them off and led Xu Cenfeng towards the second-floor private box. With an enigmatic tone, he remarked, “Your Excellency, my friends in the box will be delighted to meet you.”

Initially thinking that there were only “a few” friends, Xu Cenfeng was surprised when he entered the box and found nearly a dozen young males and females lounging on the circular sofas.

Among the attendees, the females outnumbered the males, most of whom were dressed in black and gold military uniforms with insignias denoting their high-ranking status within the military. They were often seen accompanying Faeus.

Only a few males were present, seated prominently amidst the crowd. One of them looked particularly familiar—it was none other than Lord Hill, who had appeared at the Morhan Arena during the fight.

The table was strewn with bottles of liquor and various entertainment items like dice and playing cards. Several beautiful female attendants stood by, attentively pouring drinks for the distinguished males and engaging in light banter.

Zog leaned against the door, clapping his hands to draw everyone’s attention. “Hey hey hey! Look over here, everyone! I’ve brought a rather handsome male zerg here to introduce to you all. Can’t lose face, huh~”

Everyone burst into laughter at his words, thinking Zog was joking again. One of the noble female zergs reached out to pull Hill into his arms, laughing as he pinched his chin. “Come on, cut it out. I don’t believe there’s a male zerg more handsome than our Hill. What do you say?”

He spoke with a smile, but his movements were extremely leisurely, clearly displaying an attitude of treating things lightly. However, Hill seemed not to notice, instead, he raised the corners of his lips with satisfaction. “You always know how to say flattering words to me, I don’t believe it for a second.”

“Lord Hill, this is not flattery, I swear by my honor, you are the most handsome zerg in all of Hossburgh.”

“Yeah, that’s right. If you don’t believe us, let Laton swear to the Zerg God.”

“Come on, we don’t believe in such things!”

Xu Cenfeng stood outside the door, quietly observing this scene of extravagance and debauchery, surprised that the so-called “auction house” turned out to be like this. As he pondered whether to leave, Zog suddenly stepped aside and pushed him gently into the compartment.

“Is that so? Well, I hope you won’t regret it.”
