RSK Chapter 8

At first, I couldn’t quite believe it and scrolled further down. The more I read, the clearer it became—the “you” being mentioned increasingly seemed to be me. Many instances described had actually happened to me.

Goosebumps ran all over my skin. I never imagined Wen Xu could be this kind of person!

And to think, I was wearing those white shorts he mentioned earlier today. Damn, I couldn’t stay another minute in his place!

I cleared the browsing history and quickly shut down the computer. Since I didn’t have much with me, I grabbed my backpack and was ready to bolt.

Just as I opened the door, I bumped right into Wen Xu, who looked dusty and tired from his trip.

Damn.

Seeing him, my first instinct was to quickly lower my bag to shield my lower legs.

“Ning Ran, where are you off to?” Wen Xu asked, holding a big bag of fresh vegetables and meats in one hand, and a full box of my favorite cherries in the other. Apparently, he had just returned from the supermarket.

There was no time to drool over the cherries. I lied on the spot, “I suddenly have something urgent to take care of.”

Just as I was about to make my escape, Wen Xu’s tall figure blocked my way.

Damn, was he planning to deal with me right here?

Luckily, Wen Xu didn’t seem to have any ill intentions. He simply said, “Is it that urgent? Why not have lunch before you go? I can cook quickly.”

“No need, it’s really urgent. Thanks, though.” I quickly excused myself.

Wen Xu’s face remained impassive as he slowly said, “Then take these cherries for the road.”

And just like that, I left Wen Xu’s place, carrying a box of cherries.

After lingering at the base of his apartment building for a while, I decided to head to an internet café to finish the group assignment.

Once I booked a private room in the café, I set the box of cherries aside and turned on the computer. As it booted up, I slumped into the chair, still reeling from the whole ordeal. The walk from Wen Xu’s house to the café hadn’t been enough to calm my nerves.

Wen Xu actually likes me?

Why?

We hadn’t talked much before, only recently interacting more. I had planned to confront whoever was behind the stealth kiss and ask why they did it. But now, facing Wen Xu after knowing what he posted online? The thought still unnerved me. This wasn’t like his usual quiet and aloof persona—more like a stalker.

After the computer finished booting up, I edited and sent the assignment to my group leader. Then, out of curiosity, I opened the anonymous forum again and quickly found Wen Xu’s account, thanks to my sharp memory.

Revisiting his profile was still a shock.

The most common theme on Wen Xu’s page was his obsession with me—or rather, with “you.”

I stretch after waking up, he wants to jump me.

I get foam all over my mouth brushing my teeth, he wants to jump me.

I come out of the shower and dry my hair, he’s minutes from jumping me.

Me: “…to hell with jumping.”

But what puzzled me the most was why he acted like I was cheating on him whenever I spoke with someone else in the dorm. Come on… I’m not his wife! This was almost pathological.

I popped a washed cherry into my mouth, chewing the fresh, sweet fruit. Ah, so tasty.

There’s a saying: “Eating from someone’s hand softens the tongue.” So… I decided to help Wen Xu!

Aside from this issue, he’s a decent guy. Plus, he’s my roommate. I couldn’t just watch him fall apart like this!

I had to make sure he returned to being a normal guy who doesn’t covet his roommate.

With that resolve, I searched online and found out that Wen Xu’s behavior was a type of psychological disorder. But how could I convince him to seek treatment?

I pondered this question while playing games at the internet café all afternoon. Finally, while having dinner at a nearby diner, I came up with a brilliant idea.

Action-oriented as I am, I quickly took out my phone. Wen Xu had sent me a WeChat message ten minutes ago, asking if I was coming back to his place tonight. I ignored it and opened the anonymous forum app, registering a burner account. Then, I sent a message to Wen Xu’s profile.

[Senior Psychologist at A City First Hospital]: Sir, having looked at your profile, it appears you are in urgent need of psychological therapy.

Come on, Wen Xu, let Doctor Ning guide you.
