SDVPP Chapter 12

Birthday

Chi Han got up in the morning and sat on the toilet, opening the Fei Yuan app. He noticed that there were five red message notifications on his profile picture, indicating that people had sent him private messages.

He clicked on them and found that several people were asking for detailed photos of the earrings and bracelet. One person even inquired if he could sell them for 50,000 RMB.

Chi Han promptly deleted the person who was trying to haggle. His expression remained unchanged.

Selling the set for 66,000 RMB was already a loss, and he wasn’t willing to lower the price any further.

Among these messages, one person caught his attention.

“Hello, may I ask if it’s possible to have a video call? My boss really likes your blue jade jewelry.”

Chi Han thought this had some potential, so he replied, suggesting a video call at 8 p.m. The other person quickly confirmed the arrangement, and the matter was settled.

He replied briefly to the other messages and then exited his online store. He realized he had a lot of studying to catch up on since he had been busy carving jade last night. He couldn’t afford to waste any time at school today.

With these thoughts in mind, Chi Han gently touched the bracelet that was wrapped in a velvet cloth, furrowing his brows slightly.

If he were to give it directly, Rong Xu would likely refuse and suspect that there was an ulterior motive. Besides, there weren’t any upcoming occasions for gift-giving.

Chi Han sighed in frustration, deciding to find the right moment to present the gift.

Life in the second year of high school was always filled with assignments and exams. During a long break, Chi Han went to the restroom and returned to find a stack of test papers on his desk, nearly half the height of a person.

Since most students in his class were not particularly diligent, there was no class monitor or student representative. Often, the test papers printed by the school were left on the desks without anyone bothering to manage them, and eventually, they all ended up in the trash.

Chi Han wiped his hands and quickly browsed through the test papers. He realized that these were collections of real past exams and mock tests created by the school, and the quality was even better than the ones sold outside.

His eyes lit up, and he immediately took two sets of test papers for each subject, one for practice and one to review the wrong answers.

When the others in the classroom noticed his actions, there was a hint of mockery on their faces.

“What’s with the grandiose act at this point? Acting all high and mighty!”

“Who does he think he is?”

Fu Xing, who had earlier tried to befriend Chi Han, couldn’t help but sneer and said sarcastically, “I wonder if our class is about to produce a genius.”

Gao Qi, who had dyed hair, laughed heartily and teased, “With a score of thirty in a single subject, is that the kind of genius Chi Han is aiming to be? Hey, Fu-ge, maybe with my fifty in English, I can be the founder of the genius club!”

“Hahaha……”

Chi Han returned to his seat expressionless, taking the paper in his hand and diligently starting to work on the problems.

The human population in the world is incredibly vast, so it’s perfectly normal to encounter a few idiots. Otherwise, how could the diversity of human evolution be demonstrated?

Moreover, he was running out of time and couldn’t afford to waste it on these people.

A genius?

Chih Han coldly tugged at his lip.

After the exams next week, he will make them kneel and call him “dad”.

Rong Xu came at almost the same time every day, usually just before the third class of the day, and he would leave after lunch, only to return in the late afternoon.

It could be said that he spent less than four hours in the school every day.

During these four hours, Rong Xu would always be writing, and occasionally when he raised his head to daydream, his gaze was gloomy.

“…Isn’t Chi Han’s family quite wealthy? I saw the car that brought him to school in the morning, it must cost at least several million! Why can’t he even afford a meal?”

The name “Chi Han” seemed like a curse, instantly infiltrating Rong Xu’s somewhat scattered mind, pulling his gloomy eyes toward it.

“What’s wrong?”

“Don’t we have a small restaurant in the cafeteria? People like Fang Jingluo go there to eat, and they easily spend thousands on one meal!”

“I know about that. Last time, I even treated someone there. Let me tell you, the prices in the small restaurant are ridiculous. A small plate of cold dishes will cost you thirty bucks, let alone other dishes. That time, I ordered three dishes and it cost me almost four hundred bucks!”

“So, you’re telling me that Chi Han can afford to ride in such an expensive car, but he has to go to an ordinary restaurant for lunch? Eating aside, he stood there contemplating even before getting a chicken leg! Do you think his family is going bankrupt, hahaha!”

“Hey, hey, it’s possible. Maybe they’re on the verge of begging on the streets. Hey, what do you think? Is that luxury car really his family’s?”

“What do you mean?”

The person smirked, squinting their eyes and insinuating, “What if it’s a sugar daddy who gave it to him? You see, he looks so fair and slim. People with special interests might just fancy him, right?”

Bang!

A loud noise echoed from the back of the classroom. The teacher stopped their mechanical reading and looked up.

Two boys were huddled over their desks, clutching their heads, and two thick textbooks lay on the floor.

Chi Han also turned to look. He saw Rong Xu, who had kept his head lowered, now coldly staring at those two boys. Under the teacher’s persistent questioning, he remained expressionless for a while before uttering two words:

“Accidental slip.”

The teacher: “…”

The people in the classroom: “…”

The two boys who got hit: “…”

Chi Han squinted his eyes slightly. He knew that Rong Xu rarely resorted to physical violence. Rong Xu preferred to watch his prey fall into traps slowly and then torment them to death. These two individuals must have crossed his boundaries to make him so angry.

Chi Han gritted his teeth and silently made a note in his little mental book.

Daring to bully Rong Xu, just wait and see!

During the 4:00 PM afternoon break, Rong Xu, in a rare move, rolled his wheelchair out of the classroom, not even bothering to collect the sheets of calculations left on his desk.

Twenty minutes later, Rong Xu returned to the classroom.

As he passed by Chi Han, he placed a large bag of various snacks and beverages at his feet without saying a word, ready to leave.

Chi Han took a quick glance and was surprised to find a variety of snacks and drinks in the bag. He swiftly grabbed the handle of Rong Xu’s wheelchair and asked in confusion, “Rong Xu?”

Rong Xu didn’t turn back, his voice cold.

“If you don’t want them, just throw them away.”

After saying that, he returned to his own desk.

Chi Han stared at the bag of inexplicable snacks and, just then, the two boys who had been hit by the books returned from the infirmary. They were cursing as they walked, “Damn it, I told you, what’s the point of this cripple tagging along Chi Han, f*ck him…”

Chi Han’s mind suddenly stirred, and an incredible idea popped into his head.

Could it be that Rong Xu just stood up for him earlier?

Once this thought entered his mind, it couldn’t be suppressed any longer. Chi Han slowly, very slowly, raised the corners of his mouth.

This kid is so proud.

His eyes filled with a playful glint as he reached down to pick up the bag on the floor. However, he noticed a brownish little booklet being pressed underneath.

It was their school-issued student ID.

Since the school gates required inspections, everyone carried their student ID with them.

Chi Han opened the student ID and saw Rong Xu’s name written prominently on the first page, with a bareheaded photo affixed next to it.

In the photo, Rong Xu looked much younger than he does now, indicating it was taken several years ago.

The young Rong Xu gazed unwillingly at the camera, his little face looking very serious.

Chi Han couldn’t help but let out a chuckle at the sight of this little bun’s face; he really wanted to pinch those cheeks.

In the next moment, as if he remembered something, he quickly glanced at the last line of numbers.

June 8, xxxx.

June 8th… Isn’t that the day after tomorrow?!

Chi Han closed the student ID. The gleam in his eyes grew wider.

A safety charm would be the perfect birthday gift for Rong Xu.

He neatly arranged the snacks, picked up the student ID, and walked towards the last row.
