SDVPP Chapter 19

Examination

Rong Xu sat in the classroom early for several days. Every time Chi Han entered, he could see a small insulated bag on his desk. It was bought by Rong Xu specifically to bring things for him.

These days, Rong Xu brought a variety of foods, afraid that Chi Han would get tired of them. Until Chi Han measured his body temperature in front of him, Rong Xu finally restrained himself, but lunch was still a must every day.

Today was the simulated exam for the entire sophomore year, as well as the last mock exam before the summer vacation. It was said that the teachers of the school prepared the test questions based on the difficulty of the senior high school entrance exam within the scope of the sophomore year.

All the classes were secretly competing, and even after the evening self-study, they did not leave until the school gate was about to close, only turning off the lights.

However, these classes did not include Class 19.

Even because of the upcoming summer vacation, the atmosphere in the class became more lively. Classes were often chaotic, and several times the head teacher had to come in before it quieted down for a while.

Chi Han had long wanted to estimate his current level. It was said that the class rankings in the No.1 High School were basically equivalent to the provincial rankings.

To prepare for today’s exam, Chi Han even postponed several business deals. Since selling those earrings and bracelets, people had been messaging him continuously, asking for custom services.

After some consideration, Chi Han agreed but raised the price.

Currently, he has four orders on hand. As soon as today’s and tomorrow’s exams were over, he had to rush to finish them.

After all, two weeks after the mock exam would be the final joint exam.

To refresh his mind, Chi Han deliberately slept an extra hour last night. When he woke up in the morning, he felt very energetic, as if he could destroy Fang Jingluo’s home at any time.

He still went to school according to the time of the morning self-study. Because the exam required arranging the examination room, most of the desks in the classroom were stacked in the corridor, with two desks facing each other, with four legs pointing to the sky1 I think this meant the chairs were put on top of the tables…?.

Chi Han took a look, turned around, and walked away. The corridor was filled with stacked tables, and there was not even a place to put things. It was better to go to the yard to study.

Chi Han had already memorized the classical Chinese and ancient poems in the Chinese textbook, but time was truly limited. He hadn’t fully memorized several phrases, so he had to review them temporarily.

He didn’t know if Rong Xu would come today.

Suddenly, this thought popped into Chi Han’s mind.

He shook his head and turned the pages of the book. According to Rong Xu’s personality, he probably wouldn’t come, fearing the high probability of it.

Just as he was about to finish reading this classical Chinese text, the playful voices of several boys came from a distance.

Chi Han looked up, and his expression instantly faded.

The people who came were Li Qing and his group.

Since the last time Chi Han dealt with him and threw him into the cold storage, Li Qing hated and feared him even more.

Now, seeing Chi Han, although he was scared to death inside, he still had to go up and say a few sarcastic words.

“In such a big place, why read here? Is it necessary to perform here, afraid that others don’t know your average score of thirty points?”

Chi Han looked indifferent, rolled up the book, and was about to leave.

Seeing this, Li Qing became even more aggressive.

“I thought a comet had fallen here, but when I checked someone’s grades, oh boy, 29 in math, 30 in English!”

“Do you know what our head teacher said? He said that even if you write an English essay with pinyin, you’ll get more than just this many points hahaha!!”

“Hahaha!!!”

Laughter erupted around them.

Li Qing straightened up, wiped away the tears of laughter from the corner of his eyes, and teased, “Hey, top student, are you planning to write an essay with pinyin this time? By the way, I kindly remind you, remember to capitalize the first letter hahaha…”

Chi Han, amidst the mocking gazes of the crowd, showed no trace of embarrassment on his face.

He looked amusingly at the self-amused group and slightly curved his lips, his voice gentle, “Are you feeling mischievous again?”

Li Qing: “…”

Chi Han instantly dropped his smile, not even bothering to glance at him.

Finding joy in mocking others every day—what a pitiful way to live.

The formal exam began at eight o’clock, and candidates were seated fifteen minutes in advance according to their exam numbers.

The order of exam numbers corresponded to the grade ranking from the previous exam.

Because Chi Han had no previous academic records due to transferring, he was assigned to the last exam room with the last exam number.

As soon as he entered, he saw several familiar faces, all from Class 19.

Chi Han: “…”

It was totally expected.

The last exam room was dominated by Class 19, and the invigilating teacher, accustomed to such scenes, couldn’t help but take an extra look at the boy in the last row after distributing the exam papers.

There was no other reason; a student diligently filling in the information on the machine-readable card in this kind of examination room was undoubtedly an outlier.

The first exam was mathematics, and coincidentally, the invigilating teacher was the math teacher from Class 10. She first took a glance at a paper, finding that the difficulty level of these questions was relatively simple. Many problems could even be answered at a glance.

After pacing around a few times, she wearily closed her eyes.

For a fill-in-the-blank question where the answer was clearly 1, there was actually someone who wrote 100, and even more ludicrously, a student drew a positive infinity symbol.

The invigilating teacher: “…”

Why not just write tan90 directly?

She swore to herself that she wouldn’t come to supervise this exam room next time. It was simply shortening her lifespan!

Suppressing her frustration, she briskly walked to the last row. Just as she was about to turn around, her peripheral vision suddenly caught a large area of neat and meticulous mathematical formulas, standing out amidst a jumble of incomprehensible scribbles.

The invigilating teacher’s steps paused, and she discreetly stood behind Chi Han.

At this point, Chi Han was already working on the third-to-last major question. Mathematics had always been his strong suit, especially since this paper only covered content from the first and second years, far from the complex questions infused with traps that awaited him in the third year.

Thus, his hands moved swiftly.

Streams of numerical formulas flowed smoothly from his pen, a sight pleasing to the eye.

The more the invigilating teacher watched, the brighter her eyes became. Her arms, crossed in front of her, involuntarily tightened.

Which class did this child come from?!

How could such proficiency appear in this kind of exam room!

Could it be because he was absent due to illness?

The invigilating teacher thought more and more that this might be the case. She looked at Chi Han with pity, as if she were gazing at a delicate flower that had accidentally fallen into a dung pit.

After this exam, he should be able to return to his rightful place.

However… She furrowed her brow. Why did this child seem so unfamiliar? He didn’t seem like a student from the previous classes.

As the exam time flew by, as soon as the invigilating teacher stepped out of the classroom, the remaining students immediately started making noise.

Several boys sitting by the window gathered with sly expressions:

“What rubbish questions! I actually calculated a negative fifty, but there wasn’t even a negative number among the options!”

“With your calculation abilities, buying vegetables on the street would be a challenge for you. You’d better go to bed early.”

“You’re talking nonsense!”

“Hey, I guess this time, the top of the grade is still going to be Fang Jingluo. Every time, he takes the spotlight, those infatuated girls in the class are going to scream again.”

“Did you guys just see that? The invigilating teacher stood behind Chi Han for at least fifteen minutes! That expression on her face, tsk tsk, it’s hard to describe. It was like witnessing something unbearable.”

“Saw it! She must have seen the paper Chi Han did. Damn, to make someone show that expression, he must have done something sensational!”

“Don’t know, probably got a zero?!”

“Anyway, he must have done poorly on the exam. I could write with my feet and still get a higher score than him!”

A person pretended to hold their throat and imitated, “The teacher must have gone back and told others, ‘You wouldn’t believe what kind of weirdo I encountered today. Couldn’t even get a single question right. Even a pig’s brain would be more useful than his.’ Do you believe it? Hahaha!”

“Hahaha…”

After finishing the exam, Chi Han packed up and left, not having the slightest desire to listen to their conversation.

He thought it would be better to spend the time reading Classical Chinese.

As soon as the invigilating teacher returned to the office, she grabbed the math teacher from Class 12 and complained.

“You have no idea what I went through today. The entire exam, the way they did their papers was simply eye-catching. Especially those boys by the window, I bet even rolling dice to answer multiple-choice questions would have given them more correct answers.”

The Class Twelve teacher comforted her with a glance, “Alright, I understand you. Next time, control your gaze, don’t look at their papers.”

The invigilating teacher breathed a sigh of relief and suddenly showed a smile.

“But you know, don’t tell anyone, but there was a student in that exam room who wrote a really good paper. I reckon he might get full marks in math this time!”

“Really? What’s his name?”

The invigilating teacher frowned, not entirely sure, “I remember… it seems like his name was Chi Han, right?”

The Class 12 teacher’s face cracked with disbelief on the spot. She had seen Chi Han’s original school transcript in the school office just this morning.

If she wasn’t mistaken, the thirty points in the math section on that transcript must have been a mistake!
