SDVPP Chapter 31

Haircut

One night, sweet dreams.

Chi Han slept until nine in the morning.

The sunlight outside the window seeped through the curtains, gently illuminating the room.

Chi Han sat up and, as usual, drifted into contemplation. After a few minutes, his memory returned, and his gaze focused on the red thread tied around his wrist.

That’s right, Rong Xu!

He hastily got ready and, wearing his slippers, hurried over to Rong Xu’s room, only to find it empty.

The bed is neatly made, and the Totoro still leans against the pillow. The window is half-open, and the white, transparent curtains gently sway in the breeze.

There’s an inexplicable sense of detachment.

Just as Chi Han, with his disheveled hair, was coming to his senses, a sudden noise echoed from downstairs.

He hurried to the staircase and looked down, meeting Rong Xu’s icy gaze.

In those eyes, the frost melted suddenly, revealing a faint smile.

“Awake?”

In the yard, there seemed to be some summer flowers that had just bloomed, and the warm breeze carried their fragrance through the window, refreshing the spirit.

Chi Han took a deep breath, feeling considerably more awake.

“Did your leg hurt last night?”

He ruffled his hair, speaking as he descended the stairs.

Whether it was an illusion or not, the aroma of scallion pancakes seemed to be in the air!

Rong Xu’s cold voice softened slightly. He lifted the small plate in front of him and pushed it slowly toward Chi Han.

“Not hurting. Come and eat.”

Several plates were filled with various foods, emitting steam.

Chi Han didn’t feel hungry initially, but seeing the spread suddenly made his stomach growl.

“So delicious! I’ll definitely eat!”

Rong Xu handed him a pair of chopsticks and considerately served him a bowl of pumpkin congee.

Chi Han couldn’t wait to pick up a small steamed bun and put it in his mouth, and the juicy filling instantly overflowed.

His eyes sparkled.

Delicious!

Rong Xu usually had a poor appetite in the morning, just having some porridge before heading out. However, this morning, he ate a few small steamed buns with Chi Han, and there was even a pan-fried egg.

The taste was acceptable.

“Where did you order takeout from?” Chi Han patted his somewhat full stomach lazily and asked, “Is this your usual choice?”

Rong Xu replied indifferently, “No, it was Wang Yao who made it before.”

Chi Han: “…”

What kind of breakfast could Wang Yao make?!

Tomatoes stir-fried with tomatoes?

Seeming to understand his expression, Rong Xu chuckled and said, “Wang Yao may not have a brain, but he can cook.”

Chi Han, who only knew how to boil noodles, felt like his territory was invaded.

He decided to skip over this matter.

Due to the red thread being tied for too long last night, there was a faint red mark around Chi Han’s wrist. When Rong Xu saw it, he insisted that Chi Han shouldn’t tie it again tonight.

“Alright, I’ll listen to you,” Chi Han, rarely seeing Rong Xu frown at him, raised his hands in surrender, “I’ll take you for a haircut, and then we can eat something delicious. How about hot pot at home tonight!”

The tone was like coaxing a child, making Rong Xu somewhat helpless, but he had to admit he found it quite pleasing.

This made him feel like he was placed at the center of Chi Han’s heart.

Chi Han looked at Rong Xu, who obediently waited for him to take him out, and the satisfaction in his heart was overwhelming.

Considering the adult Rong Xu in the original novel, even speaking a word to him required careful consideration, let alone touching him.

But now, he was so soft.

Apart from Wang Yao, there was usually a driver who picked up and dropped off Rong Xu.

Driver Li had been with Rong Xu for many years, and there was nothing to be said about his character.

Knowing that Rong Xu preferred silence, he never spoke while driving, not even turning on the car radio.

However, today repeatedly shattered Driver Li’s understanding.

For the first time in so many years, he saw someone get into the car with Rong Xu and even talked all the way.

“Hey… the hot pot base they sell here seems pretty delicious. I saw it online the other day!”

“The duck necks here are tasty too.”

“Rong Xu, do you like desserts?”

“…”

Driver Li was on edge as he listened along the way.

How could this child talk so much today?!

He still remembers when he first became Rong Xu’s driver, he almost got fired for chatting and joking around.

This led to him being increasingly cautious and silent over the years while driving.

Just as he was thinking about how to remind Chi Han, suddenly, he heard Rong Xu respond in a tone he had never heard before, gently saying, “Okay, let’s go buy it later.”

Driver Li: “…”

His hands gripping the steering wheel became somewhat stiff.

He began to doubt if he had just hallucinated.

Did Rong Xu really speak in such a gentle voice?!!

Driver Li’s gaze involuntarily moved upward, and he found a pair of cold eyes staring at him in the rearview mirror.

“!”

He quickly withdrew his gaze, sitting upright and not daring to glance around carelessly.

Rong Xu calmly retracted his gaze, subtly leaning towards Chi Han during a turn.

***

Chi Han took Rong Xu to the place where he had his hair cut last time, thinking that the stylist there was really skilled.

However, when they arrived, Rong Xu looked gloomy and stood there without anyone daring to approach him to wash his hair.

Chi Han: “…”

What to do if the child’s rebellious phase is back?

The stylist awkwardly pulled Chi Han aside, whispering, “Your friend seems to be in a bad mood. But if he doesn’t wash his hair, it’ll be difficult to cut. What should we do?”

Chi Han: “No problem. Just get ready, I’ll talk to him.”

The stylist agreed and went back.

Fortunately, this was a VIP private room, with no unnecessary people present. The stylist and assistant were quietly dismantling things on the side, and there was no disturbance.

The moment Chi Han walked in, Rong Xu quickly glanced up at him but soon averted his gaze.

He thought he was prepared before coming here, but upon entering, he couldn’t control his emotional fluctuations.

He knew the stylist was just here to cut his hair and wouldn’t do anything else.

However, his body instinctively resisted contact with others.

Suppressed memories deep within him were like a murky swamp, filled with decaying flesh.

Emitting a nauseating odor.

The hands reaching out to him seemed to want to carve a piece of flesh from his body, then point at him with blood-soaked fingers, laughing and jesting.

“… Rong Xu, Rong Xu!”

The current scene gradually came back, and Chi Han’s anxious expression became clear.

“Are you feeling unwell? We can stop now, how about going home?”

Rong Xu’s breathing quickened, and his gaze fell on the faces of those around him.

There was fear, curiosity, and even a hint of strangeness.

Since Chi Han and he got together, these gazes hadn’t ceased.

Rong Xu knew what he looked like, and he didn’t care about others’ opinions.

But them looking at Chi Han like this was unacceptable.

The thought of someone looking at Chi Han with eyes that judged him as if he were mentally ill made Rong Xu feel like he couldn’t breathe.

And all of this was because of him.

If cutting this bothersome hair could make him look somewhat normal, even if only on the surface, Rong Xu was willing.

“It’s okay, go ahead.”

Rong Xu closed his eyes and calmly said.

Chi Han originally wanted to take Rong Xu away, but Rong Xu insisted, and Chi Han compromised, saying, “If you feel uncomfortable, be sure to let me know!”

Rong Xu nodded slightly and lay on the chair specifically for washing hair.

As the warm water touched his scalp, Rong Xu’s hands instantly clutched the edge of the chair, and the veins on his pale skin bulged.

The familiar sensation of drowning made him almost unable to breathe uncontrollably. Closing his eyes tightly, he was gasping for air.

Just as he was about to sit up, a dry and warm hand grabbed his ice-cold left hand and firmly covered it in the palm.

It was Chi Han’s hand.

Rong Xu, feeling a bit flustered, reciprocated, tightly entwining their fingers.

The “thump thump” of Rong Xu’s heartbeat finally slowed down, and he gradually calmed down.

Even though he couldn’t see, he could clearly feel Chi Han right beside him. Their joined hands pulled him out of the dark and cold pool, and the sensation of his skin began to return.

Rong Xu moved his fingers a bit, pressing them even closer.

The stylist, deftly washing Rong Xu’s hair, couldn’t help but grumble.

Is this a hair wash or a public display of affection?!

In all his years in the industry, it was the first time he saw a couple holding hands while getting their hair washed!

Although the young man lying down had slightly pale lips and didn’t seem to be in the best condition, it wasn’t a reason to treat it like capturing a dog and throwing it into a shark tank!

After washing his hair, Rong Xu was assisted to sit in front of the mirror.

The jet-black hair partially obscured Rong Xu’s eyes, continuously dripping with water.

Chi Han grabbed a towel and helped him dry, casually tousling his hair.

The cool and smooth strands felt really good!

The stylist couldn’t help but smile at the couple’s small gestures, maintaining a poker face while starting the haircut.

Following Chi Han’s instructions, the stylist first trimmed Rong Xu’s hair shorter, then thinned it out, revealing his facial features.

Throughout the entire process, Rong Xu remained silent, letting Chi Han speak as if he wouldn’t object even if Chi Han requested to shave his head bald.

Men’s haircuts are usually quick, and even with Rong Xu’s somewhat long hair, it took only an hour to finish.

Looking at the Rong Xu in the mirror, who looked completely different from before, Chi Han was speechless for a while.

The previous Rong Xu always kept his head down, with a cold expression, giving off a gloomy vibe.

Now that the hair was cut, Chi Han realized Rong Xu’s appearance leaned more towards sharp and fierce.

A slightly upturned phoenix eye on the left side, underlined by a small teardrop mole, seemed capable of bewitching souls when he looked over.

Seeing Chi Han continuously looking at him, Rong Xu’s expression briefly showed confusion. Without the cover of his hair, Chi Han easily captured the subtle shifts in his emotions.

He was afraid that he wouldn’t look good.

Chi Han’s breath hitched, tempted to rush up and shake him like crazy.

Wake up a bit! If this doesn’t count as good-looking, then there are no beauties in the world!

The female assistant on the side also let out a soft gasp, covering her mouth in amazement.

Chi Han: “…”

Why suddenly feel a bit unhappy?

It’s like the feeling of someone seeing your precious thing completely exposed.

He quickly pulled a hat he had just bought over Rong Xu’s head, giving a wary look to the female assistant.

No, Rong Xu is still underage!

The female assistant: “…”

She was just innocently admiring!

With his head pressed down by the hat, Rong Xu caught a glimpse of Chi Han’s menacing gaze, and his eyes slowly curved into a smile.
