SDVPP Chapter 9

No.1 High School

The following day, Chi Han was awakened by the butler.

“Young Master Chi, it’s time to get up. Breakfast is already set downstairs.”

Chi Han sat up, dazed momentarily, before remembering that he had returned to campus.

In his previous life, he had been too busy repaying debts and hadn’t had a chance to take the college entrance examination before dropping out to work. When life finally stabilized, he didn’t bother going back to study. One reason was his age; he was already twenty-one. The other was that it didn’t seem necessary.

Back when he was in school, he had dreams of entering a prestigious university and a heart filled with passion. However, after struggling in the real world for a few years, those dreams gradually faded.

Now, he had a chance to start over, and the determination he had suppressed for many years suddenly resurfaced.

How many opportunities in life are there to make up for regrets?

Chi Han’s chestnut-colored eyes shone with astonishing brightness. If he couldn’t return to his original time in the short term, he had to seize this opportunity to fulfill his dreams!

After finishing his meal, Chi Han suddenly remembered that he hadn’t prepared for school yet. When the butler found out, he silently retrieved a large, unopened package of high school textbooks from the utility room.

These were high school textbooks that the previous owner had bought but never used.

Chi Han: “…”

If the previous owner were still around, he would definitely give him a piece of his mind.

Because he was a new transfer student, Chi Han didn’t know which classroom he would be in and had to report to the school’s administrative office first.

At a top-tier institution like No.1 High School, there were countless academic achievers produced every year, so the teachers working here had some degree of arrogance and superiority.

The head of the Academic Affairs Office was no exception.

He had received notice of the transfer student early in the morning. He had seen many wealthy kids like Chi Han, who entered through backdoor connections and money.

But someone with such terrible grades dared to come to the No.1 High School, he had never seen before.

As the headmaster looked at the row of numbers on the report card, none of which exceeded thirty, his eyebrows furrowed so tightly that they could almost squash a fly.

“Chi Han, right? You used to attend our city’s No.10 High School. With these grades… what’s your rank in the year?”

Chi Han touched his nose and gave an uncertain answer, “Around… a thousand?”

The head of the Academic Affairs Office looked exasperated. As far as he knew, a year at No.10 High School might have around a thousand students.

Wasn’t this ranking at the bottom of the year?!

“Well, coming to our No.1 High School with this kind of foundation, it should be challenging to keep up with the pace. After all, you’re aware of our school’s reputation. Those who get into College are exceptionally talented,” the headmaster casually tossed Chi Han’s file aside, his eyes filled with blatant disdain. “You can go to Class 19 for now, and you can pick up your school uniform and school badge from logistics tomorrow.”

Every school had its share of teachers who looked down on others. Chi Han couldn’t be bothered to respond and simply shouldered his backpack, turning to find his classroom.

As he passed the office window, he overheard the head of the Academic Affairs Office making a couple of mocking comments.

“Another one who got in with money. Kids these days, one batch is worse than the last. With these grades, I’d even question his intelligence for bricklaying…”

“Hahaha…”

When Chi Han found his classroom, it was almost 7:30 AM, the time for morning self-study. But inside the classroom, it was as chaotic as a market.

As he pushed the door open, waves of laughter hit him like a tidal wave. Chi Han couldn’t help but furrow his brow, then checked the class sign.

Yes, this was his classroom.

Considering the calm and quiet atmosphere in the other classes he had passed on his way here, Chi Han had a premonition of what to expect.

The headmaster seemed to have assigned him to the trash class.

Chi Han: “…”

It appeared that Chi Han’s father only wanted to get him into the No.1 High School, and as long as it sounded prestigious, it didn’t matter which class he was in.

Chi Han rubbed his temples, feeling annoyed, and found a seat.

The teacher at the podium only glanced at him and then continued playing with their phone, completely ignoring him as if they were letting the class fend for itself.

Chi Han couldn’t help but sigh and started to take out his textbooks.

At this time, less than half of the students had arrived in the classroom. Those who had arrived were either sleeping on their desks or fooling around.

It wasn’t until the first class began, and the class teacher, who was also the math teacher, called Chi Han’s name to introduce him that everyone realized there was an extra person in the classroom.

He looked delicate and refined.

However, anyone assigned to this class probably wasn’t as well-behaved as they appeared on the surface.

Amid various curious glances, Chi Han calmly gave a brief self-introduction and then returned to his seat. The class teacher studied him for a moment, a faint sense of puzzlement crossing their mind.

With this kid’s demeanor, he didn’t seem like a straight-A student.

The class teacher shook their head, refocused, and began the lesson.

Chi Han had been listening for less than five minutes when he felt something hit his back. He turned to see that it was an eraser.

“Hey, new guy! Yeah, you!” A male student saw Chi Han turn and immediately grinned. He pointed to the person on his left and raised an eyebrow. “Fu-ge is calling you. Come sit here!”

The guy referred to as Fu-ge had his school uniform draped over his shoulders, one leg casually resting on a chair. When he noticed Chi Han looking, his imposing profile shot him a sidelong glance.

Draped all over with the words “I’m a big shot, don’t mess with me.”

Chi Han: “…”

This guy is a bit simple.

Forming cliques at school, like elementary school kids?!

He turned back expressionless, too exhausted to comment.

Fu-ge: “…”

But this was just the beginning. Throughout the rest of the class, people kept calling Chi Han’s name.

Chi Han grew increasingly annoyed, and in the end, he grabbed his books and moved a chair to sit next to the teacher’s podium, right in front of everyone.

Although to them, whether the class teacher was present or not made little difference, Chi Han’s move put them in a situation where they couldn’t openly say those things in front of the teacher.

Unless they wanted their parents to be called.

So, in the remaining twenty minutes, Chi Han could finally listen to the class in peace.

The content in the textbooks was relatively basic. But because Chi Han hadn’t studied in years, he had forgotten most of the formulas and such. Starting from scratch was a bit challenging.

Chi Han took diligent notes, and the class teacher, who rarely saw a student so attentive, felt more motivated and enthusiastic.

After the class, the teacher looked at Chi Han’s neatly written notes and patted his shoulder with satisfaction.

“Don’t worry about starting late; you can definitely catch up. The cutoff score for tier-two universities is still very achievable. Keep it up!”

Chi Han nodded with a smile, closed his books, and returned to his seat.

Perhaps it was his imagination, but people passing by him always seemed to accidentally or intentionally bump into his desk or knock his books onto the floor.

Chi Han endured it twice, but when a third person knocked over his pen case, he firmly grabbed the person, his eyes cold.

“Pick it up for me.”

The person struggled for a moment but couldn’t break free. Instead, they winced in pain as Chi Han held them tightly. Reluctantly, they picked up the pen case and threw it back onto Chi Han’s desk before quickly leaving, accompanied by a few unfriendly glares from their companions.

After teaching a few of these troublemakers a lesson, no one bothered Chi Han again, but they also stopped talking to him.

Everyone treated him as if he were invisible, passing by without even a sideways glance.

Was he being ostracized?

Chi Han shrugged his shoulders, completely unconcerned.

He had already noticed in the previous class that the class was divided into two factions, one led by this Fu-ge person, and the other by a tall and burly guy.

However, he had absolutely no intention of joining either side.

These were just some trivial antics played by a group of high-schoolers, and it was evident that they didn’t have enough homework to do!

The consequence of not joining either side was being isolated from the entire class. For ordinary teenagers going through puberty, this might have left some psychological scars.

But for Chi Han, who had been through an adult world far dirtier than any ivory tower, such things didn’t really bother him.

After all, the adult world was much more sordid1something that is morally distasteful, ignoble, or dirty in a moral or ethical sense.

It wasn’t until the end of the third class, just before the break, that the sound of a wheelchair rolling at the door brought a slight change to Chi Han’s expression, which had remained unchanged all morning.

Was that really Rong Xu, in his class?!

Chi Han looked at the silent youth who entered with his head down, a hint of surprise in his eyes.

Who said he was being isolated? He still had Rong Xu to keep him company!
