I woke up and got Married Chapter 2

Chi Suinian widened his eyes in disbelief: “Who the hell is your spouse?”

“You.”

Lu Zhiyue straightened up, his face returning to the cold, emotionless expression Chi Suinian was used to. “We registered our marriage. It’s a fact.”

Fact, my ass.

Chi Suinian’s long-simmering anger was triggered by that sentence. He raised his hand, aiming for Lu Zhiyue’s face.

Lu Zhiyue didn’t dodge, and Chi Suinian’s weak slap landed softly on his face.

A barely audible smack.

Chi Suinian: “…”

He had forgotten that he had no strength right now. This wasn’t a slap—it was practically a caress!

Chi Suinian was about to explode from frustration. He gathered his strength and raised his other hand, this time with a clenched fist.

But Lu Zhiyue simply tilted his head and easily grabbed his wrist, his gaze cold, though his voice was eerily soft. “Don’t move. Your body hasn’t recovered yet.”

“Bastard…” Chi Suinian tried to get up to beat him senseless, but both of his hands were caught in Lu Zhiyue’s grip. With no leverage, he could only writhe angrily on the hospital bed like a twisted knot, soon feeling short of breath and lightheaded.

He leaned back against the headboard, panting lightly. “Lu Zhiyue, are you here just to humiliate me?”

“I would never humiliate you.”

The grip on his wrists loosened, and Chi Suinian heard Lu Zhiyue’s voice, maddeningly calm. “You’re my partner.”

“…” Chi Suinian suppressed his rage. “You’re humiliating me right now!”

Lu Zhiyue fell silent, then turned his gaze to the few onlookers behind him.

What followed was private conversation between the couple. His assistant dutifully cleared the room. When it was Tang Jin’s turn, he frowned in concern. “Lu Zhiyue, Suinian just woke up. He can’t handle too much stress. You—”

Lu Zhiyue shot him a cold look.

There was no visible change in his expression, but for some reason, Tang Jin felt that the coldness in Lu Zhiyue’s eyes was different from when he was with Chi Suinian.

Tang Jin gulped involuntarily, his scalp tingling under Lu Zhiyue’s gaze. He awkwardly changed his tone. “Just… go easy on him.”

Once the door closed, the air in the room became even more suffocating.

Chi Suinian had never had a calm conversation with this bastard. Wherever Lu Zhiyue was, it felt like the oxygen was thinner. If he had the strength, Lu Zhiyue would have been groveling at his feet by now.

“Get out,” Chi Suinian said through gritted teeth.

Lu Zhiyue didn’t move, as if his body was glued to the chair. After a moment of silence, he asked, “Did you really lose your memory?”

“I didn’t lose my memory!”

“Oh,” Lu Zhiyue responded casually. “Then you’re just trying to love and leave me.”

“…”

And he even made it rhyme.

Perhaps he was so angry that he became calm. Chi Suinian suddenly realized that Lu Zhiyue was deliberately provoking him, wanting to see him flustered and upset. Well, he wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction. The more Lu Zhiyue tried to disgust him, the calmer he would remain.

“Lu Zhiyue, you’d better wash your neck and wait for me,” Chi Suinian sneered coldly. “Once I’m out of here, your days are numbered.”

For some reason, something in what Chi Suinian said seemed to hit Lu Zhiyue’s sore spot. The man suddenly froze, then looked at him with a pair of deep, quiet eyes.

Lu Zhiyue had sharp, defined features, with high brow bones that made his eyes seem sunken.

People with such features often appeared cold and unfeeling when expressionless. But this time, Lu Zhiyue’s gaze was complicated, with an emptiness and faint trace of pain, as if he was recalling some past suffering.

Chi Suinian caught that momentary glimpse of pain and scoffed.

So, the almighty Lu Zhiyue was afraid of getting hit after all.

Seizing the opportunity, Chi Suinian hit him where it hurt. “If you don’t want a beating, then get out!”

Lu Zhiyue seemed to think for a moment, then reached into his pocket, as if he was retrieving something.

Chi Suinian tensed. “What are you doing?”

Was this bastard planning to kill him while he was down?

A second later, a thin booklet was spread open in front of him. The layout of the text was strange, and on the paper were photos of both him and Lu Zhiyue. At the top of the page, two words were written in a flowery script: Holy Matrimony.

Chi Suinian hated these curly letters. Just looking at them gave him a headache. “What is this?”

He instinctively reached out to grab it.

“This is our marriage certificate,” Lu Zhiyue said, pausing for a moment before adding, “Ours.”

Chi Suinian froze. “…?”

What the hell???

He retracted his hand as if he’d been burned, glaring at the document as if it were an enemy.

Chi Suinian had been lying unconscious in a hospital bed for three months, lifeless and silent. But ever since Lu Zhiyue walked into the room, it was as if a spark had ignited, burning away the gloom and filling the space with life.

Lu Zhiyue placed the marriage certificate on his lap and stood up, buttoning his suit jacket. “Keep the certificate. Look at it often. Maybe it’ll help you remember something. I’ll come back tonight to check on you.”

Check on your damn self.

Chi Suinian grabbed the booklet and hurled it at Lu Zhiyue without hesitation, his eyes reddening with anger.

“You’re crazy!”

The frustration and agitation in Chi Suinian’s heart were becoming unbearable. He lowered his head, digging his fingers into his hair and clutching at his forehead, frowning deeply.

With one hand, he began sliding his phone across the bed.

Chi Suinian urgently wanted to check the date, hoping to disprove this absurd situation. Worried his phone’s time might be wrong, he checked the news from the day before. To his shock, he found that the current date was indeed a year and a half later than the time in his memory.

Everything that had happened during that period—he had no memory of it at all, as if it had been erased by some omnipotent force.

A gaping void had suddenly appeared in his mind.

This feeling wasn’t pleasant. Chi Suinian clutched a fistful of his hair, nearly tearing at his scalp in frustration.

He didn’t wallow for long before the door creaked open again. Tang Jin peeked his head in, sneaking a glance. “Can I come in?”

Chi Suinian: “No.”

Just the fact that he responded meant he wasn’t too mad. Tang Jin pushed the door open and entered. “What did you two talk about?”

Chi Suinian: “Murder and hiding a body.”

“…”

Tang Jin clicked his tongue. “Be serious for once. Did you remember anything?”

Chi Suinian lifted his head and silently stared at him.

Tang Jin suddenly felt a bit uneasy. “Wha-what’s wrong?”

Chi Suinian was silent for a long time, his black eyes gazing at Tang Jin. Just when Tang Jin thought he was about to say something shocking like, “How do we get rid of Lu Zhiyue?” or “Let’s take each other down and make sure no one survives,” Chi Suinian’s voice came out soft. “Lu Zhiyue and I, did we really…?”

Chi Suinian stopped, his tongue pressing against his molars. Despite mentally preparing himself, he couldn’t say those two words.

“…Do what?”

Tang Jin played along smoothly. “Yeah, you two did that last year.”

Chi Suinian’s whole body tensed up, clearly annoyed. “Why didn’t you stop me?”

Tang Jin felt wronged. “Hey, there’s an old saying—it’s better to destroy ten temples than to ruin a marriage. I’m not going to do something so heartless. Besides, it was your decision. Your brothers always support you.”

Chi Suinian: “…”

Thanks, but no thanks.

Chi Suinian racked his brain, unable to figure out why a year ago he had been foolish enough to marry Lu Zhiyue and get into this ridiculous marriage. He also couldn’t understand why he had been in a coma for three months and woke up with amnesia.

He thought he was still asleep, and this was all just a dream.

But the sensation of hitting someone and the painful dizziness from anger constantly reminded him that this was a real world.

Damn it.

He must’ve been cursed.

He asked Tang Jin, “How did I lose my memory?”

Tang Jin explained, “Car accident. Three months ago, on Lu Zhiyue’s birthday, you went to an aerial restaurant in the middle of the night to decorate the place and surprise him. On the way there, you got hit by a truck.”

“…”

Damn. Chi Suinian was so angry he wanted to slap everyone, especially himself.

Preparing a surprise for Lu Zhiyue?

No wonder he got hit by a truck.

It was a miracle he didn’t die.

Chi Suinian was so disgusted he wanted to throw up. He furrowed his brows, looking away. “Contact Qin Suitian for me.”

Tang Jin was startled by the sudden shift in topic. “What for?”

“I want a divorce.”

Qin Suitian was the actual manager of the Chihao Group, someone Chi Suinian trusted completely.

Like most spoiled rich kids, Chi Suinian was known in Jin City as the only “one without elders to support or children to feed.” He was a free-spirited person who didn’t have to worry about anything.

The infamous Mr. Chi, who grew up without a mother, was less than three years old when his father ran off with his long-lost true love. After his grandparents passed away, 59% of Chihao Group’s shares fell into his lap, making him a half-grown playboy.

With no parental guidance, Chi Suinian was spoiled rotten by his grandparents for over 20 years. He had no interest in running the company properly.

So, he picked someone from a list his grandparents left behind, gave them 9% of the shares, and hired them to manage the company while he continued living the carefree life of a rich heir. His chosen manager didn’t disappoint, building up a vast empire while he played around. Despite his reckless lifestyle, he hadn’t squandered everything.

That responsible manager was Qin Suitian.

When Qin Suitian arrived, Chi Suinian was busy texting with Tang Jin and Lu Heng online. Tang Jin had even started a group chat with only seven or eight avatars, but they chatted with the energy of an entire army, making the phone vibrate furiously.

The door to the room was open, but Qin Suitian still politely knocked before entering after Chi Suinian responded.

“Mr. Chi, I’m glad you’re awake.” Qin Suitian, only eight years older than Chi Suinian, was a sharp and savvy man in both business and life. He was cunning in business, but upright as a friend. It was this contrast that made Chi Suinian pay the 9% price to keep him in Chihao.

And it turned out, Chi Suinian had made the right choice.

During his coma, not only had Qin Suitian stayed, but he also continued running Chihao Group smoothly.

This was the only good news Chi Suinian had received since waking up.

He tossed aside his phone and got straight to the point. “Did you know about my marriage?”

Qin Suitian wasn’t surprised by his bluntness. He pulled out a chair and sat by the bed. “If you’re talking about Lu Zhiyue, yes, I knew.”

Even though Chi Suinian had already mentally prepared himself, every time he received a confirmation, his brow would furrow instinctively.

So, it was true.

He had really married Lu Zhiyue a year ago.

Chi Suinian said, “I want a divorce. Have the company’s legal team draft the papers.”

Qin Suitian shook his head with a calm smile. “No, you can’t.”

Chi Suinian: “?”

Qin Suitian pulled out a document from his briefcase. He was clearly prepared. The bold heading at the top of the page was glaringly obvious.

“Chihao Group Bankruptcy Certificate, 20XX”

Chi Suinian: …

“I’m bankrupt?”

Could this world get any worse?

Qin Suitian replied, “To be precise, Chihao was bankrupt.”

“…”

Qin Suitian continued, “Two weeks after your accident, the company’s cash flow ran out. Several project payments couldn’t be cleared, and I had no choice but to file for bankruptcy and assess the debts. It was your husband who…”

Chi Suinian shot him a look.

Ahem,” Qin Suitian cleared his throat and apologized. “It was Lu Zhiyue who provided 10 billion in funds to cover the gap, saving Chihao from bankruptcy. Now, with so many collaborative projects between the two companies, a divorce could cause market instability. I urge you to reconsider.”

Chi Suinian wasn’t well-versed in business management, nor did he care much about money. Even if the company were gone, his other assets would be enough to support his carefree lifestyle for the rest of his life.

But doing so wouldn’t be fair to the employees of Chihao, especially Qin Suitian, who he had personally brought on board.

It would seem like he was using and discarding people.

“But,” Qin Suitian broke the silence, “I’m curious. You were so persistent in pursuing Lu Zhiyue before. How did you go from getting married less than a year ago to now wanting a divorce?”

Chi Suinian: “…????”

Pursue Lu Zhiyue?

Say that again?
