INHA Chapter 132

Extra 1

As one of the ancient beings and a Creator God, Zhulong was nearly invincible. The eye on his forehead could control the shifts between day and night at will.

However, from the time of creation up until the start of the Great Ancient War, he was engulfed by a profound sense of boredom. It was a feeling that defied description, leaving him utterly uninterested in controlling the world or engaging with humanity. Instead, he preferred curling up in one place, either lost in thought or falling into a deep slumber.

The demon race was under his command and followed his orders.

On the other hand, evil spirits and dark entities were under the control of another Creator God, one who would eventually become the Lord of Darkness.

Life passed in this uneventful manner. Occasionally, battles would break out between demons and evil entities, but even though Zhulong had no interest in the world and no desire for conquest, everything seemed stable enough.

But at some point, the other two Creator Gods secretly conspired against him. They saw him as a thorn in their side. Together, they planned to eliminate him.

Naturally, this led to the outbreak of the Demon War, a conflict that resulted in countless casualties.

During this period, humanity was weak and easily trampled upon by any other race. On the brink of extinction, they huddled together in fear, praying that they wouldn’t get caught in the crossfire and die as collateral damage.

At that time, Zhu Yuan began to sense that something was off about the world. It wasn’t meant to be this chaotic, filled with endless slaughter.

His eyes opened and he saw the future.

Then the Great Ancient War began. Zhulong killed the evil ruler, the other Creator God, but was gravely wounded in the process. Even so, he managed to kill the Lord of Darkness as well.

Unfortunately, the Lord of Darkness had left behind a portion of his power, retreating into hiding to recover. Meanwhile, Zhulong, overcome by his injuries and the evil influence of the Lord of Darkness’s power, fell into madness. He had no choice but to seal himself within a great array.

This array was one of his creations, designed so that he could only emerge when he regained his senses.

Knowing that his power would gradually recover over time, Zhulong feared that he might one day break through the seal. To prevent this, he entrusted the surviving demon race to guard the array and instructed them that humanity might one day become the favored children of heaven. He warned that the demon race’s luck would dwindle and it would be best for them to ally with the humans in the future.

Therein lay their faint hope for the future.

The then-young Bai Ze, who would later be called Elder Bai, tearfully recorded Zhulong’s final words as he watched the ancient being walk into the sealing array, where he would be lost to madness.

After that, the demon race began to protect humanity, vanquishing the evil spirits and monsters that plagued the world, and peace returned to the human realm.

Though the human race had extremely short lifespans and were weak and fragile, they possessed a capability that neither monsters nor even the demon race could match:

The ability to learn.

Humans learned at an astonishing rate and were incredibly intelligent. In just a few hundred years, they grew and thrived, and in recent centuries, they even entered the age of technology. Inventions such as mobile phones, computers, and even VR propelled humanity forward like an unstoppable ancient beast, leaving the demon race both amazed and unnerved.

The human race also developed spiritual energy and, alongside the demon race, worked to protect the world.

Many more years passed, and the once-young Bai Ze, now Elder Bai, remembered Zhu Yuan’s words—there would be a faint hope for the future.

They waited and waited until a young man named Xu Dongyou appeared. Then, Elder Bai received a message from Elder Chen, saying that this Xu Dongyou was actually a demon race offspring.

Elder Bai was ecstatic. He eagerly asked Elder Chen how old this young one was, what abilities he had, and who his parents were.

Elder Chen finally revealed that the young demon’s true form was a long-tailed tit, just over twenty years old, and most importantly, he had always believed himself to be human.

Elder Bai was stunned.

A demon offspring that thought it was human? How had his parents raised him?

Even more surprising was the fact that the demon race’s luck had diminished and there should have been no new offspring born at all.

Elder Bai desperately wanted to rush over and find out more, but he couldn’t. He had to remain at his post, guarding the battlefield remnants from the Great Ancient War. The lingering resentment there couldn’t be eradicated, only suppressed. If he left, the resentment might spread into the human realm, potentially causing untold devastation.

So, he could only instruct Elder Bai to take good care of the young one, but not to interfere too much in the offspring’s interactions with humans.

Elder Bai began to suspect that this young one might be the hope that Lord Zhulong had spoken of— a hope that could ensure the continuation of the demon race.

Soon after, the young one began working at the Bureau and showed exceptional promise. He even managed to solve a long-standing problem that had troubled the Bureau for years.

The problem was that he could calm Zhu Yuan. No matter how crazed Zhu Yuan became, as long as the young one appeared, Zhu Yuan would quiet down.

Elder Bai grew increasingly excited, realizing that his earlier suspicions were correct. The more certain he became, the more cautious he was not to interfere with the young one’s life. He repeatedly instructed Elder Chen not to meddle in the young one’s decisions unless his life was in danger.

Elder Chen faithfully followed Elder Bai’s instructions, sticking to the plan. Not long after, Elder Chen brought more news.

The young one possessed a white demon energy that the demon race had never seen before— it was completely without any elemental attribute.

Elder Bai immediately understood what this white demon energy was: luck, or more precisely, the fortune bestowed by the Heavenly Dao.

An unbelievable thought came to him—could it be that this demon offspring had gained consciousness and spiritual essence because of the Heavenly Dao’s influence?

Otherwise, why hadn’t there been a single demon offspring born in the past thousands of years?
