As soon as he spoke, the chief quickly instructed Xu Dongyou, “Hurry, keep pulling her out.”
“O-okay,” Xu Dongyou replied nervously, carefully pulling Guoguo’s arm, afraid of hurting the little girl.
Though only four years old, the girl was incredibly composed, not crying or shouting the entire time. Her tearful, pain-enduring expression made the viewers feel even more heartbroken.
Mrs. Feng wasn’t sure if the soul in front of her was really her daughter, but she continued to soothe the child, holding back her own distress.
When most of the girl’s body was pulled out of the teddy bear, the chief quickly formed a hand seal, and a white light enveloped the girl, completely separating her from the teddy bear. The girl let out a sharp scream as her entire body contracted into a ball of light.
“Guoguo—” Mrs. Feng was so distressed that she nearly fainted.
Xu Dongyou quickly supported Mrs. Feng.
The teddy bear’s previously vibrant red eyes lost their color, appearing lifeless, as if the soul had left.
The chat was flooded with comments praising the special effects, noting the attention to detail, even down to the eyes of the teddy bear.
【You can really feel the dedication of the special effects team in this livestream.】
【Finally seeing the real special effects after watching from the start. No wonder they’re known as the best in the business—flawless execution!】
【While you’re all praising the effects, am I the only one crying over the genuine emotions? The actress playing Mrs. Feng did an amazing job, pulling me right into the scene.】
【Incredible acting! I felt my heart clench along with her.】
The chief casually placed the teddy bear on a chair, then walked slowly to the bedside where the girl lay. Mrs. Feng instinctively tried to get up, but she stopped when she saw the chief place the ball of light on the girl’s forehead.
The light disappeared instantly.
Seeing this, Mrs. Feng couldn’t help but feel a glimmer of hope. What if her daughter really did wake up?
Summoning her strength, she rushed to the bedside and held her daughter’s frail wrist, whispering, “Guoguo, it’s Mommy. Guoguo, please wake up. Don’t leave Mommy alone.”
By this point, Mrs. Feng was sobbing uncontrollably, collapsing onto the bed in tears.
“Mommy…”
A faint voice suddenly filled the room, causing Mrs. Feng’s sobs to stop abruptly. She looked up sharply, her tear-streaked face filled with disbelief.
“Guoguo?!”
The girl’s eyelashes fluttered. She slowly opened her eyes, smiling weakly at Mrs. Feng. “Mommy, don’t cry. Guoguo doesn’t hurt anymore.”
It took Mrs. Feng several seconds to realize that what she was seeing was real. She covered her mouth, trying to hold back tears of overwhelming joy.
The little girl looked around the room, finally focusing on the teddy bear on the chair. She raised her hands and examined them repeatedly, seemingly trying to believe that she was really back.
Her strange behavior made Mrs. Feng nervous. She quickly wiped away her tears and asked, “What’s wrong? Are you hurt somewhere?”
The little girl gently shook her head and showed Mrs. Feng her hands, then hesitated, “But Daddy said not to tell Mommy.”
Mrs. Feng was taken aback.
The chief suddenly spoke, “Mrs. Feng, I have answered your first question now.”
Mrs. Feng was puzzled. “What do you mean?”
The chief remained silent. Xu Dongyou quickly whispered to Mrs. Feng, “You asked the captain two questions earlier.”
Mrs. Feng suddenly remembered that she had indeed asked two questions earlier. The first was whether Guoguo could wake up.
Suddenly, realization dawned on Mrs. Feng as she looked at the chief with astonishment and fear. “You…”
Could it be that everything she had seen was real?
Her daughter—
Mrs. Feng trembled, quickly turning to look at her daughter lying on the hospital bed. “Guoguo, tell Mommy, where have you been these past two months?”
Mrs. Feng felt as though she was losing her mind, asking such an impossible question.
The little girl hesitated for a while before quietly saying, “Daddy told me not to say.”
Mrs. Feng felt dizzy, clutching the edge of the bed for support. Struggling to stay rational, she asked, “Why didn’t Daddy want you to tell me?”
“Because Daddy said if I told Mommy, Mommy would cry,” the little girl answered earnestly. “I don’t want Mommy to cry.”
“Chief,” Xu Dongyou hesitantly looked at the chief and mustered the courage to say, “Maybe I should explain.”
The chief nodded.
Xu Dongyou explained everything he knew, including what the little girl had told him, to Mrs. Feng.
At first, Mrs. Feng didn’t believe it, but as the explanation continued, she became more doubtful, finally ending in disbelief. “Is what you’re saying true?”
Before anyone could answer, she hugged Guoguo and asked with a trembling voice, “Guoguo, did Daddy use a little flag to make you go into the teddy bear and scare people?”
Guoguo hesitated, then nodded slightly and answered softly, “Daddy said if I didn’t do it, he wouldn’t let me come back. If Guoguo disappeared, Mommy would cry.”
“Oh my God, how could he…” Mrs. Feng couldn’t believe it, but her daughter’s words confirmed the truth of the situation.
“Guoguo is his own daughter too. How could he—” Mrs. Feng couldn’t continue, her eyes filled with anger.
“If it weren’t for the chief and my teammate, your daughter might have remained a teddy bear forever. He broke the flag while resisting arrest,” Tian Ze quickly explained what had happened in the hospital.
Mrs. Feng’s hatred for Chen Dachao reached its peak, as she realized how close she had come to losing her daughter forever. The fear and gratitude she felt towards Xu Dongyou and the others made her tearfully thank them repeatedly. Finally, calmed down by Guoguo, Mrs. Feng asked, “Where is that scum? I want to make sure he pays for what he’s done!”
“What Chen Dachao did seriously violated the regulations of our agency. According to the rules, his memory will be erased of any knowledge related to the soul-summoning flag, and he will be sent for review and sentencing,” the chief replied calmly. “With our agency involved, he won’t be getting out in less than twenty years.”
Mrs. Feng felt that even this punishment was too light, but she understood that this was likely the best outcome. She reluctantly nodded.
“All his assets, including the house and custody of the child, will be transferred to you. This is the extent of what I can do for you,” the chief added after a brief pause.
Mrs. Feng repeatedly expressed her gratitude, even in her disheveled state, maintaining her composure and strength.
When she turned to thank Xu Dongyou, he quickly shook his head and said softly, “No need to thank me. You and your child will definitely have a better future.”
Mrs. Feng nodded with determination, “Yes, once everything is settled, I will take my child and leave here.”
After all, too many people here knew about her and Chen Dachao, making it difficult to provide a good environment for her child. It would be better to start anew somewhere else.
The mission at the teddy bear store was successfully completed. Xu Dongyou called the camera over and spoke earnestly, “This concludes the incident. Although we couldn’t educate everyone about paranormal events, the outcome was good overall, as we helped a little girl. I feel very fulfilled. See you next time!”
He waved at the camera before turning it off.
The live stream ended, leaving the audience bewildered.
【Wait, that’s it?】
【Honestly, the host was really unprofessional, not interacting with the audience or reading the comments. I don’t understand the point of this livestream if they’re not trying to make money. But I was quite moved by the story. It had strong storytelling elements. It would probably make a great movie.】
【The actors stayed in character the whole time and were very professional and dedicated. Can we get a list of the actors at the end? I’d love to check out their other work.】
【Even though it was fake, I still hope the mom and the little girl live happily ever after, and that jerk stays far away! Twenty years is too short. The girl almost ended up as a teddy bear forever!】
【This livestream ended so quickly. When’s the next one? The host shut it down so fast, QAQ.】
【The host doesn’t talk much or interact with the audience. Aren’t they worried the platform might dock their pay?】
【Polite young man, live streams without interaction, shuts down on time!】
After the livestream ended, Xu Dongyou quickly thanked the chief. The chief, busy as usual, patted Xu Dongyou on the shoulder and encouraged him to keep up the good work before leaving.
Xu Dongyou and Tian Ze were also ready to leave. Out of courtesy, they asked Mrs. Feng if she wanted to see Chen Dachao, who was downstairs in the police car.
Mrs. Feng shook her head, “I initially wanted to ask him why he treated Guoguo like this, but now it seems unnecessary. Whatever the answer, it can’t change the fact that he never truly cared about me or Guoguo.”
She didn’t hide these words from her child, believing that Guoguo could understand right from wrong and good from bad. She didn’t want her daughter to have any future connection with Chen Dachao.
A father who could be so indifferent to his child was better off absent!
“When I get out, I’ll punch that jerk,” Tian Ze said, not hiding his disdain and contempt for Chen Dachao.
Mrs. Feng was momentarily taken aback, then said, “Thank you.”
Xu Dongyou and Tian Ze said their goodbyes to Mrs. Feng and left the hospital room. Lin Jingyun, who had been standing outside, immediately approached and asked, “Is everything resolved? The little girl is okay?”
Although she had been watching the livestream, it didn’t mention the girl’s condition afterward, leaving Lin Jingyun quite worried.
Nurse Zhao Jia was too shy to approach but was also concerned and listened intently.
“No problem now. However, the girl is physically weak and will probably need a few months to recover,” Tian Ze sighed. “Some people are scarier than monsters.”
Xu Dongyou nodded vigorously in agreement.
The captain was right!
