INHA Chapter 58

Escape from fear

Tian Haomiao immediately replied to the other party, saying that he would get it done as soon as possible. However, the lead song still had no direction, and he couldn’t just produce something haphazardly. He wanted to use this album to break into the ranks of top-tier singers.

The other party was silent for a few seconds before sending another message.

【First Meeting】: Hurry up and write it so more people can hear it, or I’ll come out and meet you.

Come out? Meet him?

Tian Haomiao replied: 【You can come meet me now. I want to see you as soon as possible. I can take you to eat a lot of delicious food.】

【First Meeting】: Are you sure…

Tian Haomiao was, of course, sure. At the same time, he asked where this girl was so that he could go pick her up.

After sending this message, a notification sound suddenly came from the bedroom.

Tian Haomiao froze, slowly turned his head, and through the open door, he could see the brightly lit bedroom. There seemed to be something wriggling in the five-centimeter gap under the bed, which was covered with a luxuriously understated bedsheet.

What is that…

Tian Haomiao swallowed nervously and slowly approached. But when he reached the bedroom door, he didn’t dare get any closer. He quickly lowered his head and sent another message to the girl: 【Where are you? Don’t scare me.】

He stood at the doorway and clearly heard the notification sound coming from the bedroom again. It seemed to be coming from under the bed.

A chill ran down his spine. Just ten minutes ago, he had checked under the bed, and there was absolutely nothing there.

How could there be a phone notification now?

At that moment, Tian Haomiao’s phone dinged again, startling him. He mustered up the courage to glance at the screen’s content.

【First Meeting】: I’m right under your bed!!!

Tian Haomiao let out a terrified scream. His phone slipped from his hand, crashing to the floor. Beads of sweat formed on his forehead, and he suddenly had an overwhelming urge to leave the house.

He quickly tried to reassure himself that this was absolutely impossible, that the other party was definitely joking. His throat went dry as he forced himself to calm down. He bent down to pick up the phone, then slowly lifted his head. His gaze met a pair of eyes staring at him through the gap under the bed.

Those eyes were emotionless, filled with malice, and they were locked onto him.

“Ah—!!” Tian Haomiao screamed, jumped up, grabbed his phone, and bolted out of the house, not even daring to close the door behind him.

He ran to the garage, hastily got into his car, and drove off. It wasn’t until he saw the bustling streets and crowds that the icy fear gripping him began to fade.

After calming down for a while, Tian Haomiao, with trembling hands, mustered the courage to check his phone. There were several unread messages.

They were all from that girl.

【First Meeting】: You’ve already seen me. When are you going to write the lead song and release the album so more people can hear it? If you don’t, I’ll get angry…

【First Meeting】: It doesn’t matter where you run. I’ll always, always follow you.

【First Meeting】: When will you release the album? If you keep me waiting, I’ll crawl out to find you.

After reading the three messages, Tian Haomiao felt a cold chill spread through his entire body, leaving him trembling uncontrollably. He was certain he hadn’t imagined it—there really had been a pair of terrifying eyes staring at him from under the bed.

Cold, malicious, and utterly devoid of any human emotion.

They didn’t seem human at all.

Who was she, really? Was this all just a cruel prank, or could it be that… that girl… wasn’t human?

Otherwise, there was no way to explain how she could have silently hidden under the bed.

Tian Haomiao didn’t dare go back home, so he found a hotel to stay in for the night. However, when he opened the door to the room he was about to stay in, he hesitated.

After thinking it over for a while, Tian Haomiao quickly returned to the lobby and asked a hotel staff member to accompany him back upstairs. “Can you check under the bed for me? I’m a bit of a coward.”

The hotel staff looked puzzled, but since Tian Haomiao was a guest—and a singer, no less—they suppressed their confusion and followed him to the room. They opened the door, lifted the bedsheet, and thoroughly checked under the bed several times before saying, “Mr. Tian, there’s nothing under the bed.”

Still uneasy, Tian Haomiao added, “Could you also check the closet and behind the curtains? Just to be sure.”

The hotel staff resisted the urge to roll their eyes and smiled politely. “Of course, please wait a moment.”

After a thorough inspection, the hotel staff assured him that they hadn’t found anything. Only then did Tian Haomiao feel a bit more at ease and allow the staff to leave. He collapsed onto the bed, feeling as if everything that had happened that day was just a bad dream.

Maybe it was because of the shock he’d received that day, or maybe it was due to his lack of sleep, but he eventually dozed off. In his dream, he saw something wriggling under the bed, slowly crawling out, revealing a face full of malice that screamed, “I crawled out to find you!”

He woke up with a scream, sitting up abruptly, his forehead drenched in cold sweat. He panted heavily, trying to calm down, realizing it was just a dream.

But the dream was utterly terrifying.

He chuckled bitterly and shook his head, but then his peripheral vision caught something under the bed, causing his body to freeze, as if his blood had turned to ice.

There, lying on the floor next to the bed, was a woman. Her face was deathly pale, staring directly at Tian Haomiao with an unabashedly malicious smile. She slowly raised her hand, holding a phone, and began typing before finally pressing send.

Ding.

The phone next to him chimed.

Tian Haomiao was paralyzed with fear, unable to move a muscle.

She seemed displeased that Tian Haomiao wasn’t looking at his phone, so she started typing again, her face growing increasingly malicious as she pressed send.

His phone chimed with another notification.

It was as if he finally snapped out of his daze, his voice trembling with fear. “How… how did you get in here?”

It was still the face that had once captivated him, the face he had longed for. But now, it no longer stirred any feelings of affection in him.

Only fear.

How did she get in here?

Tian Haomiao’s continued refusal to look at his phone made her face even more disturbingly pale, the malice in her expression even more intense than before. Though her body remained eerily still as it lay there, she began to creep slowly forward from under the bed. Her hand, with nails painted red, slowly gripped the bedsheet, as if trying to pull herself out.

Tian Haomiao felt his blood run cold. All he wanted was to escape. He quickly turned, intending to jump off the bed from the other side. But the moment his foot touched the floor, she suddenly appeared on that side, under the bed, with half of her body almost out.

“This is impossible!” Tian Haomiao almost shouted.

No one could lie on the floor and, in a split second, teleport to the other side of the bed, all while lying on their back. It was something no human could do.
