Birthday bonus chapter hehe
When Jiang Yuan saw the tall and imposing Arlo flee in panic, he found it amusing, especially after Arlo had just been talking about being a “proper Alpha” who “doesn’t mess with Betas.” Confident that he wasn’t an Omega, Jiang Yuan felt a wave of relief wash over him, and he burst into laughter.
Ji Rong, peeking in from outside the door, saw Jiang Yuan’s wide grin. He found it both dazzling and somewhat attractive. In all the time he’d known Jiang Yuan, this was only the second time he’d seen him smile so genuinely, apart from earlier that day in class.
After peeking in, Ji Rong noticed Arlo’s pheromones were even stronger in Jiang Yuan’s room. He unconsciously raised an eyebrow, feeling a twinge of discomfort.
“What were you two doing in there just now?”
Seeing Ji Rong and feeling at ease now that he was sure he wasn’t an Omega, Jiang Yuan answered casually, “Nothing much, just a little experiment.”
“Experiment? What kind of experiment?” Hearing Jiang Yuan mention an experiment, Ji Rong’s mood lifted considerably, as if the dark clouds above had suddenly parted. He leaned against the doorframe, hands in his pockets, and asked.
Jiang Yuan replied, “It has nothing to do with you.”
Ji Rong nearly lost his balance at Jiang Yuan’s words. The strong scent of another Alpha’s pheromones in the room made him feel a surge of frustration. Gritting his teeth, he glared at Jiang Yuan before turning on his heel and walking away.
Jiang Yuan was puzzled by this reaction.
Did that guy just look… angry?
Shrugging it off, Jiang Yuan closed the door and headed to the living room. He picked up the communicator from the sofa and opened the online forum.
OP: “I just had an Alpha verify for me. We closed the door, and he released his pheromones in front of me. I didn’t feel any physical changes or discomfort.”
Floor 34: “Oh, OP, you’re still here. I’m Fourth Brother from earlier. When you didn’t respond for a while, I thought you’d left. So you went to verify? If you didn’t feel anything, there shouldn’t be any issues. During a true presentation, you’d feel hot around any Alpha. Since you didn’t, you’re probably fine.”
OP: “Thanks.”
Floor 38: “It’s Fourth Brother again. Hehe, I think there might be another reason for your body heat.”
OP: “What?”
Floor 40: “Haha, isn’t it obvious? OP, you must like that Alpha!”
Like Ji Rong?
That was absolutely impossible. Even if Ji Rong fit his ideal type physically, the fact that he was an Alpha automatically disqualified him from Jiang Yuan’s pool of potential partners. They could be classmates, friends, or comrades, but never mates.
Besides, Jiang Yuan thought, they’d known each other for less than a week. There was no way he could have developed feelings for him.
Still, it was strange that his body heated up whenever he was near Ji Rong. Though he didn’t experience other symptoms typical of an Omega in heat, the physical abnormality made him slightly uncomfortable. Could it be because Ji Rong was attractive?
Jiang Yuan mused silently. After all, he was admittedly shallow. Male, interested in men, and responsive to someone who perfectly matched his tastes—it was possible his body reacted due to pure physical attraction.
In the adjacent room 215, the brown-haired Arlo’s heart was pounding. He had been truly startled by Jiang Yuan’s actions earlier—a Beta getting so close to him!
He was a proper Alpha who didn’t mess with Betas! He had already told Jiang Yuan this, surely he understood? God, please spare him! If a Beta as attractive as Jiang Yuan were to pursue him, he wouldn’t be able to resist!
Could he really end up with a Beta?
Arlo’s mind flashed back to the image of being pinned against the wall by the handsome Beta. He couldn’t help but wonder, if he hadn’t run away, what would Jiang Yuan have done?
Would he have taken him right there?
No, Jiang Yuan was a Beta. If anyone was going to do the taking, it should be Arlo taking Jiang Yuan!
After indulging in these wild thoughts, Arlo took a deep breath and slapped his cheeks.
Damn, why was he feeling a hint of anticipation?
No, he was a proper Alpha who didn’t mess with Betas! No matter how attractive!
The next day was the opening ceremony. Jiang Yuan woke up early and changed into his new school uniform.
Jiang Yuan wore a deep black military uniform that made him look even taller and more striking than his previous T-shirt and sweatpants. His handsome features, combined with the uniform, made it impossible to look away. The black uniform pants hugged his firm, toned muscles, their clean lines visible even through the fabric.
Beside him walked Ji Rong, also in uniform. While Ji Rong was typically good-looking with a constant roguish grin, today, his face was stern.
Ji Rong’s dark eyes seemed to hold ice, his black hair slightly messy. His serious expression seemed to lower the temperature by ten degrees wherever he went.
Ji Rong glanced at Jiang Yuan, his lips twitching, then gently rubbed his brow.
He…
He had dreamed again last night!
In the dream, Jiang Yuan appeared once more, this time pregnant. It had left Ji Rong on edge.
He dreamed of Jiang Yuan smiling at him, of holding Jiang Yuan while releasing pheromones, of Jiang Yuan panting softly in his ear.
Perhaps because it was the second time, Ji Rong found this dream less unbelievable than the first. However, the problem was…
At the end of the dream, someone who looked exactly like Arlo, calling himself “Song Yirui,” appeared and claimed to be the father of Jiang Yuan’s child! Ji Rong had woken up in a cold sweat and hadn’t been able to sleep since.
Naturally, Jiang Yuan knew nothing of Ji Rong’s dream. After receiving Song Yirui’s message yesterday afternoon, he hadn’t replied.
Now, he was looking down, responding to messages Song Yirui had sent after he’d gone to sleep.
Seeing that Jiang Yuan hadn’t replied to his proposal, Song Yirui sought advice from a friend and realized he might have acted inappropriately. So, he had sent another message in the evening: “Xiao Yuan, I didn’t get to say this to you in person before you left. Are you upset?”
Jiang Yuan paused before replying: “No, that’s not it.”
Seeing no immediate response from Song Yirui, who was likely still asleep, Jiang Yuan breathed a huge sigh of relief. He had been worried Song Yirui would continue discussing marriage. It was a blessing that the other was still sleeping.
Ji Rong noticed Jiang Yuan’s relieved expression and couldn’t help but turn to look at him.
Upon closer inspection, Jiang Yuan was even more handsome than in his dream. Remembering the chaotic scenes from his dream, Ji Rong’s eyes involuntarily fell to Jiang Yuan’s stomach.
Noticing Ji Rong’s gaze, Jiang Yuan had to ask, “What are you doing?”
Ji Rong met Jiang Yuan’s deep, slightly displeased eyes. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he awkwardly averted his gaze. He could hardly tell Jiang Yuan about his indescribable dream from last night.
Ji Rong pointed to the crowd ahead, changing the subject, “The ceremony is about to start.”
Jiang Yuan glanced at the crowd ahead and gave a noncommittal “Mm.” They had arrived at the hall neither early nor late, with about 5 minutes until the ceremony began. Most of this year’s new students were already seated.
“Jiang Yuan!” A pleasant voice called out from afar just as Jiang Yuan sat down.
Jiang Yuan turned around and immediately spotted Ji Yang coming with three roommates. Ji Yang gestured towards his communicator, indicating for Jiang Yuan to check his device.
Ji Yang: Let’s have dinner together after the ceremony.
Jiang Yuan thought for a moment and replied: Okay.
It would be a good opportunity to ask Ji Yang about ways to make money. He didn’t feel comfortable asking Fang Shi for money to buy a gift for his adopted brother.
The three classes of the Mecha Department were seated at the front. Arlo, still nervous from yesterday’s events, arrived to find only one seat left next to Ji Rong. He glanced at Jiang Yuan on Ji Rong’s other side, took a deep breath to calm himself, and sat down next to Ji Rong.
As soon as he sat down, those around who already felt the low pressure from Ji Rong sensed the atmosphere become even more tense!
As the bell rang, the school ceremony began. A white-haired elder with gold-rimmed glasses gave a speech for about half an hour before another speaker took over. To be honest, the content was mostly the same, and Jiang Yuan couldn’t bring himself to listen attentively.
Ji Rong beside him was even less focused. Both people on either side of him had appeared in his dream last night.
To his right, Jiang Yuan stared straight ahead, seemingly listening to the principal’s speech. But Ji Rong could tell that Jiang Yuan’s eyes were vacant, his mind clearly wandering elsewhere.
As for Arlo on his left…
Arlo sat restlessly next to Ji Rong, feeling slightly better with Ji Rong between him and Jiang Yuan.
After returning to his room yesterday, Arlo had watched plenty of dramas about domineering Alphas falling for beautiful Omegas, managing to blur Jiang Yuan’s handsome face from his memory. Looking at the pretty Omegas in the dramas had helped calm his heart.
But seeing Jiang Yuan’s face again today, those drama Omegas were quickly fading from his mind.
Oh, how difficult this was for him!
How could he resist if such a handsome Beta like Jiang Yuan pursued him?
At this thought, Arlo’s face grew even redder.
Nearby, Ji Rong noticed Arlo’s flushed face and twitched his lips. What was wrong with this Arlo? Why did he keep glancing at Jiang Yuan?
This guy kept looking and blushing, who knows what he was imagining! Ji Rong felt extremely displeased.
Hmph.
What was Arlo’s deal? Didn’t he know Jiang Yuan had an Alpha boyfriend? What was the meaning of staring at Jiang Yuan like that? Was he planning to be an Alpha mistress? Come on, you’re a Mecha Department student at the First Military Academy, headed for the military in the future. Do you really want to leave this kind of black mark on your history?
Being an Alpha mistress, do you really think you have the looks for that?
