IMAO Chapter 3

Alphonse

After dinner, Jiang Yuan excused himself, claiming he still felt unwell, and went upstairs to rest.

Jiang Tianze, the stern father in every sense, frowned slightly, clearly concerned about Jiang Yuan’s health. His gaze followed Jiang Yuan all the way upstairs.

As soon as he entered his room, Jiang Yuan noticed a box in the corner. Opening it, he found an exquisitely crafted mecha model inside, which obviously required a great deal of time and effort to create.

“Knock, knock, knock.”

Someone outside politely knocked three times, but before Jiang Yuan could invite them in, the door opened from the outside.

When Song Yirui saw Jiang Yuan go upstairs, he thought it was the perfect opportunity to talk about their future marriage. He hadn’t voiced his thoughts at the dinner table out of consideration for Qiu Jingming’s feelings, so he followed Jiang Yuan up.

As Song Yirui was about to speak, he noticed the model in Jiang Yuan’s hands. Excitedly, he rushed over, grasping Jiang Yuan’s hands with a delighted expression. “Ah Yuan, is this the 705 model? Is it for me?”

Although Song Yirui couldn’t get into the military academy, it didn’t diminish his love for mechas.

Jiang Yuan wanted to pry Song Yirui’s hands off him, uncomfortable with their close proximity.

Searching through the original owner’s memories, Jiang Yuan realized that this was indeed a gift for Song Yirui, handmade by the original Jiang Yuan. However, he wasn’t the one giving it.

“This is my birthday gift for Rui-ge,” a gentle voice came from the doorway.

Song Yirui turned to face Qiu Jingming’s pretty face. Qiu Jingming entered the room, wedging himself between them and snatching the model from Jiang Yuan’s hands, effectively separating the two.

With Qiu Jingming between them, Song Yirui released Jiang Yuan’s hands and scratched his head. “Oh, it’s from you, Jingming.”

“I wanted it to be a surprise, but you’ve seen it now.” Qiu Jingming puffed out his cheeks like an aggrieved goldfish, as if he’d suffered a great injustice.

“Thank you, Jingming,” Song Yirui said, surprised. “I love this birthday gift. Did you make it yourself?”

Qiu Jingming laughed awkwardly. These miniature models were essentially scaled-down replicas of mechas. He’d never been interested in them since childhood and couldn’t possibly make one. In reality, Jiang Yuan had made it all by himself.

As Qiu Jingming pondered how to answer, a low voice with a casual tone responded, “Who else could it be if not him?”

Jiang Yuan thought, I absolutely can’t say the original owner spent two months making this thing! Otherwise, the breakup will be indefinitely postponed!

Hearing Jiang Yuan’s words, Qiu Jingming looked shocked. He knew Jiang Yuan had always been very tolerant of him and would usually remain silent in such situations. But today, Jiang Yuan…

Jiang Yuan’s statement clearly implied that Qiu Jingming had made it!

Qiu Jingming stared at Jiang Yuan for a moment, then engaged Song Yirui in conversation, repeatedly preventing him from talking to Jiang Yuan.

“My brother hasn’t been feeling well these past few days. We shouldn’t disturb his rest,” Qiu Jingming said ‘thoughtfully’.

Song Yirui was momentarily speechless. He could only advise Jiang Yuan to rest well before reluctantly allowing Qiu Jingming to lead him downstairs.

Song Yirui left the room, led by Qiu Jingming. Though unhappy about Qiu Jingming interrupting his time alone with Jiang Yuan, his heart softened as he looked at the model in his hands.

Never mind, he thought. He’d find another chance to talk to Jiang Yuan.

Jiang Yuan sighed in relief as Song Yirui left.

Unaware of Qiu Jingming’s true intentions, Jiang Yuan found himself increasingly fond of his adopted brother. Qiu Jingming had just rushed in to save him from an awkward situation and now helped remove the annoying Song Yirui. What a good brother!

After they left, Jiang Yuan noticed a thick stack of papers next to the model. Picking them up, he realized they were data and hand-drawn mechanical structure diagrams the original Jiang Yuan had made while creating the model.

The original Jiang Yuan was indeed a top student.

Jiang Yuan shook his head helplessly. He couldn’t handle this stuff. He maintained his own spaceship, but only because of his supercomputer, ‘Alphonse.’ In Jiang Yuan’s world, supercomputers were known as ‘Era Inventions’ or ‘Genesis Inventions’.

The supercomputer Alphonse was expensive but powerful. It could complete various simulations quickly, automatically analyze results from sample data, and plan optimal routes. It was widely used in spaceships, mechas, and laboratories.

Jiang Yuan’s spaceship was equipped with the best computer, ‘Alphonse’, which had cost him nearly all his savings. But with Alphonse, he didn’t even need a crew; he could control the entire ship alone.

Jiang Yuan thought self-mockingly: At least he died with his ship, dying with his money, better than dying with money unspent.

Flipping through the design papers, Jiang Yuan thought: If Alphonse saw this, it could make it in minutes.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, a message appeared in his head: [Hey!]

[Alphonse at your service. Data conversion in progress, please wait…]

Startled by the sudden message in his mind, Jiang Yuan realized Alphonse was processing, presenting the model’s production process directly in his brain!

Holy crap!

The supercomputer Alphonse was in his head?

Sensing Jiang Yuan’s confusion, Alphonse responded: [Yes, Captain.]

Jiang Yuan: What’s going on? Have we merged?

Alphonse: [Captain, insufficient data.]

Jiang Yuan: Why didn’t you speak when I woke up?

Alphonse: [You didn’t issue any commands. The system was in sleep mode.]

Jiang Yuan rubbed his forehead. Alphonse was a supercomputer with learning capabilities, but humans, fearing the imagined robot takeover, had included a foolproof design in supercomputers—

[The wake-up program requires calling the computer’s name to issue commands.]

After transmigrating, Jiang Yuan hadn’t thought Alphonse would merge with his soul. He hadn’t called Alphonse, and if he hadn’t seen the original Jiang Yuan’s designs, he wouldn’t have thought of Alphonse, so Alphonse naturally remained dormant.

So, had he transmigrated with his property intact?
