Xu Chen’s face darkened as he asked the Mecha Department students who had crashed his class, “What special training?”
“We don’t know either,” several students shook their heads helplessly. They only knew from their instructor that Jiang Yuan and Ji Rong had been taken away for special training, but the instructor did not disclose any details.
Xu Chen’s beard quivered slightly as he clenched his fist. He was furious, but he had to maintain his composure. Stay calm!
No, no, no, he couldn’t calm down!
In all these years, he had never been stood up. He was always the one doing the standing up!
Seeing Xu Chen’s face alternating between shades of blue and white, the classroom fell silent. Just who was this Jiang Yuan?
“What’s really going on?” Armand nudged Ji Yang, who was sitting next to him and whispered to the one who was on good terms with Jiang Yuan.
Ji Yang shook his head. He was also confused. “I don’t know either.”
“Strange, why did Professor Xu call for Jiang Yuan?”
As he spoke, Ji Yang pulled out his communicator and secretly sent a message to Jiang Yuan, informing him about Xu Chen calling his name and asking what was going on.
While the Manufacturing Department students whispered among themselves, the Mecha Department students were also inquiring about the situation in their class group chat.
“What’s going on now?”
“No idea. Professor Xu even said there wasn’t anyone named Jiang Yuan in the Manufacturing Department before, but now there is. What does that mean?”
As everyone whispered, the school teachers sitting in the front left row exchanged glances, silently thinking the same question—who exactly was this Jiang Yuan? Professor Xu seemed to know this kid.
Xu Chen cleared his throat, his fist pressed against his lips. “Alright, let’s begin the class.”
The classroom immediately fell silent. The lesson passed in the blink of an eye. Xu Chen glanced at the time. There were ten minutes left before the end of class. He set down his textbook and said, “If anyone has questions, you may ask now.”
Upon hearing Xu Chen’s voice, everyone snapped back to reality, yet not a single hand was raised: Professor Xu must be a genius!
Arlo initially thought that Professor Xu, being primarily a technician, would be a terrible lecturer. Most of them came with the attitude of observing a legendary figure. But to their utter surprise, the old man could teach so well! All key points were explained thoroughly yet concisely, with clear layering and structure. Following Xu Chen’s train of thought, even he, a non-Manufacturing major student, had understood everything by the end of the class!
Moreover, the group of teachers was even more captivated. Compared to the students, they had absorbed far more knowledge and naturally understood the value of Xu Chen’s lesson. Each one of them was determined to compete with the students for seats in future classes! They would attend every single one!
Seeing no one raise their hand to ask questions, Xu Chen asked again, “No one?”
After Xu Chen’s inquiry, he suddenly noticed a hand trembling as it rose from the back. “You have a question?”
Yang Kai scratched his head and stood up reluctantly.
Bai Ming gave him a push and whispered, “You lost. Hurry up and ask!”
Yang Kai glared at Bai Ming before turning to address Xu Chen, scratching his head. “…Professor, don’t be angry when I ask this!”
Xu Chen nodded slightly, signaling Yang Kai to proceed.
Yang Kai finally asked, “Professor, you just said ‘there wasn’t anyone named Jiang Yuan in the Manufacturing Department before, but now there is.’ What exactly does that mean?”
Hearing this, Xu Chen waved for Yang Kai to sit down and explained, “Jiang Yuan is now a student in the Manufacturing Department.”
Several teachers looked bewildered: What was going on?
“A Manufacturing Department student?” The teacher who spoke up. If Jiang Yuan were present, he’d recognize him as the one who gave the lively and engaging ‘Introduction to Mecha’ lecture on their first day. He continued, “That can’t be right. We know all our students, and no one’s transferred…”
Simultaneously, the teacher mused that their First Military Academy didn’t even have a transfer policy.
Xu Chen waved his hand dismissively. “There is. He joined the Manufacturing Department a few days ago.”
The teachers were stunned. The Manufacturing Department faculty members uniformly opened their teaching systems, discovering a new name at the end of the roster!
“Huh… when was this added?”
Xu Chen replied nonchalantly, “Three days ago.”
The teachers’ inner thoughts:
“Damn, how powerful must his connections be to parachute into our department nearly two months into the semester?”
“Our Manufacturing Department has paratroopers now?! Has the principal gone mad?”
“Could he be some bigshot’s son?”
“Since when did our First Military Academy start accepting backdoor entries?”
As the teachers were full of questions, Yang Kai was equally confused. He instinctively asked, “Jiang Yuan transferred departments?”
Xu Chen shook his head. “No.”
Yang Kai: ???
Everyone: ???
Xu Chen continued, “Jiang Yuan is currently studying two majors simultaneously. Though if you ask me, he should transfer departments, but the kid stubbornly refuses to do so.”
In the classroom, teachers and students were bewildered by Xu Chen’s words. What on earth was going on?!
As soon as class ended, the First Military Academy’s forum was flooded with posts about “Jiang Yuan.”
On the spaceship, in a vast training area, two figures were engaged in a fierce exchange of attacks and defenses. In their final attack, as Jiang Yuan and Ji Rong attempted to dodge each other’s strikes, they both tumbled to the ground.
In that split second, Ji Rong twisted his body to position himself underneath. Jiang Yuan ended up directly on top of Ji Rong. Compared to the hard floor, Ji Rong’s body was naturally much softer and didn’t hurt. Apart from a faint scent of pheromones, everything felt fine.
Jiang Yuan broke away from Ji Rong’s arms and stood up. He then extended a hand to Ji Rong, grasping it firmly to pull him up.
As Ji Rong held Jiang Yuan’s hand, his heart began to race.
Following the line of that slender, well-defined hand upwards, he saw beads of sweat glistening on its owner’s neck. Jiang Yuan’s clothes were almost completely soaked through, clinging to his body. Several buttons of his white shirt were undone, revealing a tantalizing neckline. His body rose and fell with each breath, and his short hair added a touch of sharpness to his appearance.
Jiang Yuan’s arm strength was impressive as he pulled Ji Rong up. For some reason, he felt that Ji Rong’s palm was unusually warm. He released his grip on Ji Rong’s hand.
Jiang Yuan wiped the sweat from his forehead and picked up two water bottles from the ground, handing one to Ji Rong. “Here, have some water.”
Ji Rong accepted the bottle with a word of thanks.
Jiang Yuan responded with a hum. He unscrewed the cap of his mineral water and took a big gulp before sitting down on the training ground and picking up his communicator.
Earlier, while training with Ji Rong, he had heard his communicator chime, but he hadn’t checked it immediately, assuming it wasn’t urgent.
Jiang Yuan opened his communicator and immediately saw a message from Ji Yang.
Ji Yang: “Jiang Yuan, Professor Xu was teaching us and called your name, but you weren’t there! Strange, you’re not even in our Manufacturing Department. Professor Xu looked pretty angry.”
“!!!”
“Dage, you’re too impressive! Your Xiao Di here salutes you!”
“Double major… what’s going on?”
A few minutes later, another message:
“Oh damn, I just remembered. Is this about the mecha modification thing with the senior?”
Jiang Yuan replied briefly, explaining to Ji Yang what happened before. As soon as he sent the message, Ji Yang responded immediately, obviously monitoring his communicator.
Ji Yang: “I just contacted the senior. Jiang Yuan, you’re too amazing! I’m floored! I kneel down to you! You’re my idol now! I’m all yours!”
Jiang Yuan jokingly replied: “What do you mean by ‘all yours’?”
