Just like Xia Wang City, Fu Qing’s base was surrounded by many defense systems. Shu Bao even saw several familiar mechanoid buildings, which were clearly transported directly from the space by Fu Qing and then modified.
Of course, compared to Xia Wang City, which had Tesla equipment, the variety of mechanical devices here was relatively small, and their shapes and functions weren’t much different from their original forms. However, despite this, Fu Qing’s base was already far beyond the reach of other bases.
The rapid approach of the massive dragon group naturally caught the attention of Fu Qing’s base. At first, they thought there was a problem with their detection system, as they had never detected such huge and fast-moving objects in the air.
But soon, they were horrified to realize that these objects had a very clear destination—they were heading straight for the base! With such a large group of enormous creatures approaching at high speed, Fu Qing’s base immediately entered emergency mode.
Fu Qing was notified of the situation immediately and went to investigate. As the group of creatures got closer, everyone gradually realized that their outlines looked very familiar—it was just like the dragon that the city lord owned!
However, over the years, they had never seen a second dragon and had always thought there would never be another one in this world. So, discovering an entire group of them today was nothing short of shocking.
When Fu Qing realized that the approaching creatures were likely dragons, he immediately thought of the news that Lan Qing had previously mentioned about the migration of dragons. He quickly understood that the dragons had come looking for blessings, though the speed of their arrival was something that made one hesitate to compliment them.
Although Fu Qing had some suspicions in his mind, he still didn’t let his guard down. He ordered the entire base to remain on alert, ready to launch an attack at any time.
Soon, the dragons got closer, and in the end, they didn’t even need instruments to see them; they were visible to the naked eye. Residents outside the base received notifications and returned inside early or hid behind cover.
As the dragons appeared, the residents were shocked. One giant dragon was already enough to make them feel invincible, but a whole group in the sky was truly overwhelming.
The deafening dragon roar soon echoed through the air, accompanied by terrifying pressure. Many civilians had to abandon their curiosity and retreat back into their homes, as though not seeing it would make the danger seem less imminent. However, despite their efforts, the crushing pressure still made them too afraid to move recklessly.
The intense sense of pressure made Fu Qing realize that the visitors were not here with good intentions. The people also began to understand the gravity of the situation. The pressure made it hard for them to breathe, and their hands trembled uncontrollably.
The dragons continued to approach and the pressure grew stronger. Many people even lost their ability to fight, fearfully crouching on the ground.
Lai Fu also felt the approaching dragons. At first, just like Yinzi, it was excited. But after sensing the dragons’ aggressive intentions, it began to grow restless, staying close to Fu Qing without leaving his side.
When the dragons reached above Fu Qing’s base, a transparent protective shield appeared, blocking the dragons from advancing further. Shu Bao, at the head of the dragon group, recognized it as the anti-air defense system from the Mechanoid City. He hadn’t expected Fu Qing to have developed this technology as well.
Although the protective shield blocked the dragons’ progress, it also prompted the dragons to begin their attack. The searing dragon breath blasted against the shield, and the sky above Fu Qing’s base immediately turned a fiery red. It was a sight that the residents had never seen before—beautiful yet terrifying as if the flames would engulf them in the next moment and turn them to ash.
As the crowd’s minds went blank, Fu Qing’s calm voice came through the communicator. He began commanding everyone to operate the weapons and fight back. His voice, without a trace of fear, miraculously calmed everyone’s emotions, allowing them to regain their rationality and start defending their homeland.
No matter why the dragons had come, or how powerful they were, they had to fight for their home, even if they were to be burned to ashes.
Soon, beams of light shot towards the dragons in the sky. These weapons, excavated from the Mechanoids’ ruins, were capable of troubling and harming the dragons. After all, it had been more than half a year since they returned from the Mechanoids’ ruins, and many large-scale weapons had been decrypted by now.
The dragons had never lived in an environment with technology, so they were caught off guard by these sudden high-tech weapons. The energy attacks were varied and strange—high-intensity electricity, nuclear energy, light energy, and even some wide-range sonic weapons. Though the dragons were able to dodge most of the attacks with their agility, they couldn’t avoid them all.
The sky was filled with dragon roars. The injuries not only caused the dragons pain but also fury. The fierce firepower below and the increasingly terrifying dragon attacks above intensified.
Finally, with a faint cracking sound, the protective shield in the sky showed a crack, followed by a shattering noise. The shield shattered and disappeared, and one dragon plunged down.
The base immediately erupted in panic. Before anyone could flee, a shadow shot upwards at an incredible speed. Upon closer inspection, it was Lai Fu and Fu Qing. The dragon and the butterfly charged straight toward the descending dragon, showing no fear.
From afar, Shu Bao covered his eyes with his chubby paws. With a loud crash, Shu Bao winced in pain, as though feeling the impact between the two. Yinzi also retracted its head, seemingly sharing the pain of the collision.
When Shu Bao opened his eyes and peered through the gaps between his paws, he saw that both sides were falling together, clearly indicating that both dragons had used considerable force.
Meanwhile, the butterfly remained hovering in mid-air, pulling out a harp and plucking it. The crisp, ethereal sound of the harp instantly calmed the panicked crowd below, bringing them back to their senses as they resumed their positions.
Lai Fu, who had fallen, quickly recovered to his feet, regaining his composure with the help of the harp’s melody. He took to the air and flew to Fu Qing’s side.
Together, Lai Fu and Fu Qing charged toward the nearest magical dragon. Learning from the previous encounter, the dragon didn’t attempt to collide with Lai Fu but instead nimbly dodged while launching attacks at both Lai Fu and Fu Qing.
Of course, the dragon’s primary target was still Fu Qing, but his speed was faster than the dragon’s. The wind blades from the butterfly’s wings, accompanied by the invisible sound blades, turned Fu Qing into a prickly hedgehog, difficult to get a hold of.
Several times, the dragon tried to pounce and bite but failed. Finally, when it found an opening and aimed a dragon breath at Fu Qing, it was immediately knocked away by Lai Fu. Meanwhile, Fu Qing had already nimbly evaded the fiery breath.
After sending the first dragon flying, Lai Fu and Fu Qing skillfully moved on to attack the next giant dragon, displaying an unyielding and proactive desire for battle.
The dragons, who had been watching with great interest: “…”
Even though the dragons tried their best to dodge, Fu Qing and Lai Fu remained relentless, knocking two more giant dragons out of the air. When they finally reached the Dragon Clan Leader, Fu Qing casually asked, “Do you want to keep fighting?”
The Dragon Clan Leader circled Fu Qing twice, prompting Lai Fu to growl frequently. “No more fighting. You’re impressive; you have the strength to be a proper adoptive parent.”
“Ha!” Fu Qing laughed lightly at this. “After all, dragons have some skills, so it’s not too bad to take care of them.”
His tone was nonchalant as if he were casually commenting on what he had for breakfast.
Among the adoptive parents, Fu Qing might not have been the strongest the dragons had encountered, but he was undoubtedly the most irksome and arrogant. His words were far from polite, creating a stark contrast with the fluffy little creature.
As the Dragon Clan Leader puffed out fire sparks in anger, Yinzi flew over, and Shu Bao continued to explain, “Lai Fu is really impressive too. Look, even with such a huge lump on his head, he didn’t cry!”
The dragons: “…”
Half a year later, Yinzi and Lai Fu met again. The two dragons happily circled for a while before Fu Qing flew over, scooping up the fluffy ball of fur from Yinzi’s head. Only then did the two dragons stop.
Although Fu Qing’s attitude was even more prideful than the dragons, making them want to punch him, his strength was still recognized by the Dragon Clan. After all, he was the only adoptive parent who actively pursued fighting with dragons.
After the thrilling encounter, the dragons naturally landed in Fu Qing’s base as guests. By now, the residents of the base were already stunned. They knew Fu Qing was strong, but they hadn’t expected him to be powerful enough to fight head-to-head with magical giants.
Shu Bao couldn’t help but applaud the butterfly’s brilliant counterattack. Fu Qing reached out, petting the mouse in reverse, turning the cute fluffball into a “Zhang Fei Mouse1Zhang Fei (张飞) is one of the famous figures in the classic novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, known for his fierce and boisterous personality. He was one of the three sworn brothers of Liu Bei and Guan Yu, and is often portrayed as strong, loud, and courageous. “Zhang Fei Mouse” seems to be a nickname or metaphor that connects the mouse to the fearless and bold traits of Zhang Fei, adding a bit of humor and contrast to the scene.“.
The dragons transformed into their small forms to move around the city. Upon seeing this, Lai Fu’s eyes instantly widened in curiosity as he watched. The Dragon Clan Leader, quite pleased, taught Lai Fu the shapeshifting method and remarked, “This is what a dragon should look like. Someone like Jiao Jiao is the odd one out.”
Afterward, Shu Bao and the dragons stayed at Fu Qing’s base for nearly ten days. The base was located in a tropical environment, abundant with various delicious fruits and a large supply of tasty seafood. The rich resources almost made the dragons waver, tempting them to stay. After all, as magma dragons, they preferred warmer places.
However, after thinking about the soft blankets, the large sunbathing balconies, and the many people eager to take care of them—washing their faces and brushing their teeth—the magical dragons ultimately decided to leave and head back to Xia Wang City to settle.
Of course, before leaving, they enjoyed a trip around the area with Lai Fu as their guide. As for Shu Bao, he stayed with Fu Qing to learn more about the current situation at the base, including the critical issue of transportation between the two bases.
Since the two bases were far apart, road transportation clearly couldn’t be established immediately. Building sea and air transport would be more effective. There was also the option of a teleportation array, but constructing it had strict requirements, which would need Lan Qing’s help.
After determining the transportation routes, Shu Bao left a signal source and then departed with the dragon group once more. However, on the way back, Shu Bao encountered a flying magical beast caravan heading to Fu Qing’s base, which indicated that Xia Wang City was moving very quickly.
In addition to the flying magical beast group, Shu Bao also saw spatial merchant caravans traveling through space, large fleets on the sea and rivers, and a few aerial vehicles darting between them.
Those aerial vehicles resembled UFOs in Shu Bao’s knowledge, varying in size but all moving at incredibly fast speeds. As they passed over the dragon group, they occasionally stopped and became transparent, revealing their passengers inside. The drivers would eagerly wave at Shu Bao each time, shouting “Lord Deity” in excitement.
The drivers inside were residents of Xia Wang City, mostly the original inhabitants. After all, they were among the earliest group of mages, and their mastery of magic was more refined.
Just like the thriving transportation, the ground bases were also rapidly rising. The Tesla electric towers had become a symbol of development, and the liberation of energy, along with the unlocking of numerous technological blueprints, allowed the bases on this planet to rise rapidly.
