IMC Chapter 89

Possessing a treasure is a crime

Yu Lingqi’s guess was correct—he had indeed become popular, but not because he was preparing to head to the Mechanoid’s ruins. Instead, his fame came from the dramatic moment when he attempted a majestic dragon dive and ended up knocking himself unconscious.

After all, his mission was to subdue the Xia Wang Tribe, but instead, he ended up delivering himself—along with a dragon—right into the hands of the enemy. The stark contrast between his bold declaration and the reality of the situation left the viewers dumbfounded, followed by uncontrollable laughter.

Looking back, it seemed that ever since his forced landing, Yu Lingqi had been eyeing the Xia Wang Tribe, but every time, things ended in an unexpected way. His luck was truly something else.

As the viewers continued to laugh, they suddenly heard about a new team planning to explore the Mechanoid’s ruins. The lively atmosphere was instantly replaced by endless curiosity.

The Mechanoids were the only known species capable of traveling between the Chaos Universe and this universe, and people from this universe had long been fascinated by them. Whether it was their immense destructive power, top-tier intelligence, or mysterious origins, the Mechanoids were worth exploring. Moreover, they might hold the key to the chaos in the universe and its potential solution.

More and more people flocked to the adventure team’s livestream, eager to see another world and the place where the rumored rulers of this universe once lived.

Amidst everyone’s expectations, Shu Bao tearfully said goodbye to the residents of the base and set off on the journey to find the Mechanoid’s ruins.

This time, Shu Bao likely wouldn’t be returning in the short term. Though everything had been arranged, Shu Bao still felt some unease as they left. However, little by little, their attention shifted as they were gradually drawn into the surroundings.

Since the forced landing on this planet, Shu Bao had never been able to venture too far from the base due to various reasons. Now, unexpectedly, they were traveling the planet in this manner.

Fu Qing, meanwhile, gauged the climate and environmental conditions to estimate the distance between his base and the base of the “pretty teammate”, contemplating how long it would take to establish communication in the real world. After seeing Shu Bao’s base, Fu Qing was confident that if he and his pretty teammate teamed up, they could dominate the entire planet.

Along the way, Fu Qing shared his thoughts with Shu Bao, who was quite interested. Fu Qing explained that he was in the tropical zone, while Shu Bao was in the temperate zone. The distance between them was a bit far, but if they allied, they would have nearly all the necessary resources at their disposal.

Since they had already formed an alliance in the Chaotic World, their collaboration in the real world seemed like a natural next step. Shu Bao agreed to Fu Qing’s suggestion and extended a small paw to him. Seeing this, Fu Qing eagerly reached out and gave Shu Bao a full-body petting.

Shu Bao: “…?” Was this how butterflies shook hands?

Fu Qing was very satisfied. His pretty teammate was just as enthusiastic as ever. If only he could stay this warm and enthusiastic every day.

Because they were flying, the group moved quickly. However, even with this speed, it took them three days to reach the vicinity of their destination.

Before T33674 was a 3D map, unlike the usual flat maps. This map displayed both horizontal coordinates and altitude. Yes, the Chaos Rift they had previously escaped from was indeed suspended in mid-air.

“To avoid being tracked by the Mechanoids, we flew very far until our energy ran out, forcing us to make an emergency landing.” If they hadn’t run out of energy and couldn’t escape the planet’s gravitational pull, they would have already left the planet much earlier.

Although the Mechanoids were trapped in the Chaotic World, no one could predict where the Chaos Rift would expand to in the future. Naturally, the Semi-Mechanoids wanted to escape as far as possible.

“This Chaos Rift is different from the base. It exists at all times, day or night. Once you enter it, you’re in the Chaotic World. You can’t see the rift from the real world, but once you enter, it’s difficult to return.” As soon as T33674 finished speaking, the 3D map in front of them started flashing red, signaling that they were nearing their destination.

Shu Bao and the others immediately looked up and scanned their surroundings, but they saw nothing unusual—clear skies, gentle winds, and a sunny day.

However, as they continued forward, the red warning light grew brighter.

“We’re here!” T33674’s voice rang out. Even though it was calm, there was a hint of seriousness in it.

The three magic dragons flapped their wings and hovered in the air, while everyone examined the space before them, but still found nothing. Shu Bao casually pulled a fist-sized stone from his storage ring and threw it forward. The stone only traveled a few meters before hitting what seemed to be a thin layer of air, causing a slight ripple, and then it disappeared without a trace.

Yu Lingqi stared at the vanished stone for a long while before asking, his voice filled with disbelief and a hint of fear, “We really found it… Are we really going in?”

“Of course!” Everyone except Yu Lingqi responded in unison.

Shu Bao rubbed his little paws together, “Let’s take what’s theirs!”

Fu Qing’s eyes gleamed, “If things go smoothly, this journey will allow our base to leap directly into the technological era! The sooner we develop, the sooner we can join forces, and the sooner we can dominate!”

Tesla didn’t say much, but his eager gaze made his impatience clear.

T33674 showed no expression, but sensing the intense fear emanating from Yu Lingqi, he thought for a moment and then spoke to reassure him, “Don’t worry, the Mechanoids don’t eat. Even if you die, it’ll be quick and painless, much better than the fate of the prey you’ve caught.”

Yu Lingqi: “…?” Was that a robot joke? Not funny at all.

T33674 didn’t understand why his blunt reassurance didn’t have the desired effect. After speaking, he noticed the nervousness of the deceitful race only increased. He didn’t know what else to say, so he chose to ignore it.

Though everyone was eager to proceed, considering they had been traveling for days, they decided to land and rest for a while. They set up tents, cooked some meat, and as they ate, they organized their resources.

They had various magical potions, magical tools, and most importantly, several newly crafted cat-eye necklaces that would help them maintain good vision in the Chaotic World. Of course, T33674 didn’t need one, as he had infrared functions.

Shu Bao distributed the resources he had to the others just in case and discussed potential situations they might encounter and how to deal with them. After a hearty nap, they mounted the dragons once more and, fully recharged, arrived at the Chaos Rift.

With T33674’s body flashing bright red, the three giant dragons charged into the rift one after the other, disappearing into the clear sky.

In the blink of an eye, the world around them shifted to a different tone. A pitch-black, lightless world enveloped them. Even with the cat-eye necklaces, it took the group a moment to adjust.

Yu Lingqi, who was entering the Chaos World for the first time, was particularly startled when a giant jellyfish-like creature flew overhead, causing him to scream in terror.

“It’s just a Hell Jellyfish, it doesn’t eat humans,” T33674 quickly scanned and reassured them.

Yu Lingqi probably felt a bit embarrassed; after all, it was his first time in the Chaotic World, and Tesla seemed much calmer than him. Tesla, who rarely spoke and appeared to have no significant combat skills, made Yu Lingqi wonder why Shu Bao had even brought him along.

“That beam of energy light over there is the center of the ruins. This is the outermost part of the Mechanoid’s ruins,” T33674 pointed to a silver pillar of light that stretched from the ground to the sky on the distant horizon. This light was the core energy pillar of each city of the Mechanoids, serving as both the energy source for the city and the Mechanoids itself.

From high above, the group could see a vast modern city ahead, filled with many grand buildings. The architecture had a more sci-fi style, and the construction seemed less restricted, with buildings of all shapes and sizes, some even floating in mid-air.

These buildings were arranged around the energy pillar, just like human cities— the closer one got to the center, the more prosperous and crowded it became.

Because they were so far away, the group couldn’t see many details, but the overall structure felt familiar to Shu Bao, suggesting that the Mechanoids had some similar living habits to humans.

“It also seems to transmit energy wirelessly,” Tesla, less interested in the city’s structure, was instead more intrigued by the energy beam.

“The anti-air system of the ruins is still active. We’d better walk in,” T33674 advised, sensing the dragons beneath them were eager to fly forward.

Thus, they had no choice but to land and walk. However, this created another issue: the tremors caused by the three giant dragons walking on the ground were just as strong as when they flew through the air. The vibrations of the earth and their massive size made their presence undeniable.

In the end, Shu Bao had to store the three dragons into his space bracelet. Yu Lingqi stared at the bracelet for a long time before finally having a rare moment of insight, “Since your bracelet can store living creatures, why didn’t you just store the dragon back at the base? Then I wouldn’t have to come along!”

Shu Bao glanced at Yu Lingqi, “Ah, you figured it out. You’re right. I wanted your dragon to do their part! If they perform well, you can continue managing the Long Tribe. Of course, by then, it will be a branch tribe, a branch under the Xia Wang Tribe.”

Yu Lingqi: “…” This is just the fate of having a dragon!

Ignoring the somewhat defeated Yu Lingqi, the group quietly made their way toward the center of the ruins. Once they began walking on the ground, they realized that the city was even larger than they had imagined. Since the Mechanoids had mastered anti-gravity technology, the construction of the city was not restricted by gravity, and the buildings were exceptionally massive.

When they reached the outermost defense wall of the city, they felt as small as ants standing under a tree. The wall was towering, with an incredibly tight structure. No matter how tiny they were, they couldn’t find any gaps to enter.

Fortunately, T33674 found the rift through which they had escaped earlier. Only then could they enter the grand mechanical city through the crack.

Upon entering, they were struck by an intense coldness. Indeed, this city was very similar to human cities in some ways— every building was hard, and there was almost no soil to be seen. Unlike human cities, the Mechanoids didn’t have any green spaces or greenery.

As far as the eye could see, it was a world made entirely of steel. There was no concrete, no asphalt roads— everything here was made of various metals, and these metals were the kind that didn’t rust easily.

No wonder T33674 said that the Mechanoid’s ruins themselves were a treasure. This vast and terrifying city was made entirely of various metals! It was a city of steel—no, it was a city of metal!

Shu Bao felt like a tiny country bumpkin ant that had just entered the city. He couldn’t help but look up and gaze around. So many rare metals… How wonderful it would be if they could take all of them back to the tribe!

While the group was still marveling at the awe-inspiring sight, a light suddenly flickered on the smooth metallic ground not far away. At first, they thought the Mechanoids had spotted them so quickly, but upon closer inspection, they realized that the light was coming from a magic circle?!

“What’s going on? The Mechanoids can use magic too?” Yu Lingqi nearly burst into tears from fear.

“No, it’s not the Mechanoids. Let’s find a place to hide first.” Shu Bao thought the magic circle in front of them looked somewhat familiar—it was very similar to the magic circle that had lit up when Ru Su performed a collective teleportation.

Moonlit: To be honest, I forgot whether I used Chaotic world or Chaos world ._. Anyone remembers? ‘-‘
