His glands felt so painful that they are numb. It was as if they have been anesthetized, with lost sensation of pain but heightened sensitivity to touch. Jin Wuqi could feel the tip of the knife slowly penetrating, cutting through his skin and flesh. Warm liquid slid down his neck, flowing into his collar. It was like a life that is secretly passing by quickly.

Suddenly, a faint engine noise could be heard.

Headlights approached from a distant corner similar to the traces drawn by a brush when painting. They grandly skid half a circle in the wilderness. A pitch-black car instantly turned to the corner with glaring headlights shining on Jin Wuqi and Wei Yi’s side.

The wheels crushed the gravel, kicking up dust, breaking through the darkness from the night. The car approached without any visible reduction in speed, like a sword drawn that does not return to its sheath without killing. It rushed straight over.

Wei Yi loosened his grip, trying to dodge. But the car headed straight towards him. As it passed by, in the huge airflow, Jin Wuqi buried his face in his own arms, leaning against the car. Then he heard a dull sound and the brakes screeching.

He gasped and turned his head, seeing the car stopping parallel to his own. The front of the car had moved nearly two metres ahead. Wei Yi curled up and fell to the ground since he was hit by the car.

Dusts were flying everywhere. The car door opened and an Alpha stepped out of it.

Wei Yi felt his legs go numb. The glaring light shone on him. He heard footsteps approaching with the gravel crunching underfoot.

A tall figure walked slowly towards him against the light. Long legs cutting through the car headlights’ beam. The dominant pheromones were different from Wei Yi’s own generated by the transformation agent, which were gloomy and lifeless. These were assertive. They exuded vibrant vitality, overpowering him to the point of no resistance.

A pair of hands grabbed Wei Yi’s collar, half-lifting him up. Then, a fist smashed into his face.

Yu Yang’s face was cold as he beat the person in front of him until the face was covered in blood, looking barely alive.

Jin Wuqi had long sat on the ground leaning against the car, tears unconsciously falling down from his eyes.

Yu Yang threw Wei Yi back to the ground and stood up silently. He took out a tissue to wipe his hands.

Then he turned and walked towards the other car, bending down to help Jin Wuqi up. When he smelled the scent of blood up close, Yu Yang frowned and asked, “Whose blood is this?”

“Mine…” Jin Wuqi leaned against him. His voice sounded weak. “My glands…”

Yu Yang’s heart skipped a beat. When he had looked over from afar, he had only seen Wei Yi pressing down on Jin Wuqi and had thought it was coercion. He hadn’t expected Jin Wuqi’s glands to be injured.

Opening the back door, Yu Yang carried Jin Wuqi to the backseat. By the light inside the car, Yu Yang saw blood flowing until under the collar. Jin Wuqi’s neck was already covered in deep red blood.

Jin Wuqi trembled as he raised his hand to unlock the collar with his fingers. Then, he barely managed to catch his breath.

“Does it hurt?” Yu Yang’s voice was clearly anxious. He carefully peel off the collar, took out a tissue, and pressed it gently on the wound on the glands. He then gently laid Jin Wuqi’s head on his own leg, looking at the omega’s pale face. Yu Yang’s calmness disappeared completely as he kept saying, “Don’t be afraid. Don’t fall asleep. I’ll drive you back now. Don’t be afraid.”

Jin Wuqi laid on Yu Yang’s lap, smelling the familiar lemon soda pheromone. He had never felt so exhausted, yet so relieved.

It’s over. There’s nothing to be afraid of anymore. Everything that needed to be done has been done. All the chances that needed to be given have been given. Wei Yi can no longer pose any threat to him.

Although Yu Yang saw all of this, it didn’t matter anymore. After all, they had agreed to meet tomorrow for him to tell him the truth. It’s just that it happened a bit earlier than planned.

“I won’t sleep. Yu Yang, don’t worry.”

Yu Yang was about to settle him in and get up to drive when there was another movement outside the car. It was Du Yele rushing over in his own car.

He crawled out of his car, holding a gun in his hand.

“Jin,… What happened to you?” He panicked just by seeing the blood on the tissue, not knowing what to do, “Can you hear me?”

“I can hear you.” Jin Wuqi smiled, “I’m fine.”

Yu Yang looked at Du Yele, “You stay here and take care of him.”

“Okay. Okay.”

Yu Yang got out of the car and walked to Wei Yi. He dragged him up and then stuffed him into the trunk.

“You drive. Let’s go to the hospital,” Yu Yang said to Du Yele. Then he sat back in the car, carefully holding Jin Wuqi in his arms. He applied pressure on his wound and softly said, “It’s okay. Talk to me more and don’t fall asleep.”

“I’m sorry, Yu Yang,” Jin Wuqi closed his eyes. With a very soft voice, he said, “It’s all my fault.”

Yu Yang’s white shirt was covered in scattered blood stains and his face was also smeared with blood. He was willing to throw caution to the wind in the face of such an omega. His voice choked up as he replied.

“Don’t apologise… Don’t you apologise to me…”

He had been filled with resentment and anger. He used to be a helpless student, all he could do was immaturely ask Jin Wuqi to wait for him to grow up. That’s why he was later abandoned. He didn’t want to face it directly. But he always felt that this reason was understandable. It’s just that Jin Wuqi’s way of leaving was too cruel. So he has been feeling aggrieved in his heart.

After more than four years, he thought he had grown up and had enough ability. But he didn’t expect that when Jin Wuqi came back, he still treated him as a pastime, not giving him any chance to participate in his life. It seemed that Jin Wuqi wouldn’t consider him as his equal no matter what happened.

But when Jin Wuqi truly apologised to him, Yu Yang found that he couldn’t bear it at all.

What he wanted was never just an apology.

By now, Yu Yang somewhat understood the difficult and dark times Jin Wuqi had gone through. Jin Wuqi never mentioned it to him. Was it because he didn’t care about him at all, or… was he afraid to speak up?

If he hadn’t followed Jin Wuqi’s car today, if he had taken a few more turns and wasted more time when he lost track of him halfway, if he hadn’t finally found this place, what would Jin Wuqi’s fate be?

“Kid, I owe you more than just an apology.” Jin Wuqi smiled, lifting his hand with great effort. He gently brushed his fingertips over Yu Yang’s face. His gaze was focused and gentle. “Do you want me to make it up to you?”

Du Yele wiped his eyes and drove the car quickly, staring straight ahead.

“I do. You have to make it up to me,” Yu Yang said, holding Jin Wuqi’s hand with his eyes red.
