Chapter 21
Title: [Event] Return of Territory Wars! Protect Your Guild in the Siege Battle
Author: GM Pudding
Content: Hello, adventurers! This is GM Pudding, in charge of event planning and announcements >_<
Thanks to your support, we are once again hosting the Guild Siege Battle that was so popular last year. Please refer to the event guide page on the main website for detailed information and scenarios♡
Just like last year, we will hold a Guild Siege Battle. Occupy a stronghold within a specified time! Siege battles will take place every Sunday, while stronghold battles will be held on other days. On siege battle days, make sure your territory isn’t taken! Participation is only possible on a guild basis. Speak to the event NPC Genead in the guild zone to enter the siege battle event map!
The “Return of Territory Wars! Protect Your Guild in the Siege Battle” event will take place from 8 PM to 11 PM. As long as at least eight guild members are logged in, your guild can participate. The event ends when your guild’s fortress is destroyed and all members in the battle become incapacitated.
The guild that wins during the three-week event will receive a percentage of profits from city shops and have its emblem displayed on village rooftops for six months. Guild leaders wishing to participate must register through the event NPC by November 11. Guild alliances are limited to two guilds.

-This game really never gives us a break… I love it.
-Let’s rake in some guild funds~~!!~!~!~!!
-They could turn this into a regular event.
└Running it for three weeks is already chaotic enough; making it permanent would be overkill;; This is just right.
└Yeah, LOL, a permanent event would be too much. We already have constant scenario updates; we can’t be stuck with guild content all the time.
– What’s the difference between a Base War and a Siege War?
└ If Siege War is the franchise headquarters, then Base War is the local branch.
└ Hahahahaha, look at that comparison.
└ A Base War is when you fight over one specific point, while a Siege War is when you take over an entire city that includes that point. Siege War >>> Base War, basically.
└ I agree with the comment above, hahaha. A siege is about taking over an entire city, and various small points are included in that city. The things that fall under Base Wars are the medium and small-scale locations, like rest stops or small villages scattered across the map. That’s why large guilds like Sergerina¹ or Poseidon don’t do Base Wars. If they win a Siege War, they get all of it anyway, hahaha. Also, once a guild wins a Siege War, they can’t register for Base Wars anymore!
– Oh man, this is gonna be so fun!!!
– I just want to be part of a big guild for once. I’ve only seen Siege War videos, and they already make me so nervous, hahaha.
└ There are exceptions. Last year, Doom participated in Base Wars. Weak large guilds don’t count, though, be careful.
└ That’s because they’re not even a guild; they’re more like a club, hahaha. It’s rare to see someone stick with them for over a month. What kind of guild is that, hahaha?
└ A cluuuub, hahaha.
– For newly formed guilds, I recommend just spectating and not participating in either. Even doing just a Base War costs a lot of money… Plus, large guilds will take cities with heavy player traffic, like Isis or Aquarium, so don’t go in and lose your guild points for nothing!
– Is that why there are so many guild recruitment posts right now?
└ Hahaha, they’re all small fry guilds.

「PoseidonLeader: They’re starting the siege.」
「Ji9star: They’ll take Isis again, right?」
「PoseidonLeader: This year, we might not have enough members to take Isis, sadly.」
「ParkRoach: Right, we barely won last year. Maybe we should aim for Aquarium instead? Isis was really close last time. I also heard Sergerina is forming an alliance this time….」
「Ji9star: Huh, Sergerina too? Hahaha. Then it’ll probably be Aquarium or Stadium World. Oh, and won’t Doom come with Failure or Whats-his-name?」
「ParkRoach: Who are they again? Haha.」
「PeaPea: Hmm, can’t remember either….」
「Neutaaaa: Yeah, Failure Doom confirmed their alliance. Looks like they’re joining the Siege War this time. They’re already gossiping in Isis, hahaha.」
「Me: Haha, we already took down one of them, haha.」
「PoseidonLeader: Hmph… They’re wasting their time. They should just take one more point, at least. ^^」
Last year, the guild that took over Isis, the largest city, was Poseidon. They won by a mere 800 points. As the main city, Isis saw a lot of traffic and had many points under it, so winning it gave the guild more than enough funds to justify the investment. The second-place guild was Melody, and the third was Sergerina. But if Sergerina formed an alliance with another guild, their strength would increase significantly. In that case, it might be better to give up on Isis and aim for another city instead. But…
「Me: What about us forming an alliance too?」
「HalloweenEggplant: ??? With whom?」
「Me: With Melody.」
At the mention of Melody, the chat room fell into silence. No one had probably thought of it. Poseidon didn’t usually socialize with other guilds, and it had been quite a while since they had recruited any new members. This led people to call them a “stagnant guild.” As a result, the guild had a tendency to solve all its problems internally with the strength of its current members.
「PeaPea: Right, you’re friends with their vice-guild master, right? Hahaha.」
「HalloweenEggplant: You’re friends with the guild master too, though.」
「HalloweenEggplant: Remember when Sunbal asked you to join their party? Haha.」
「Ji9star: I’m so thankful we have Meowie in our guild… You’ve got to play the game like Meowie, with a wife and concubines….」
「HalloweenEggplant: See, that’s why Meowie’s nickname is ‘Chair Meowie.’²」
「ParkRoach: Chair Meowie, hahaha. Is that a reference to King Uija? Hahaha.」
The growing number of nicknames wasn’t just my imagination.
「Ji9star: I just got chills; I’m so excited thinking about winning again that I can’t sleep anymore.」
「PeaPea: Hahahahaha, let’s go to Isis!」
「al0ha: Let’s go~~~ ^0^」
「Ji9star: Hahahaha, sudden mood shift, hahaha.」
The reaction was positive. Thinking about it again, it was genius. How could I come up with such a brilliant idea as forming an alliance with Melody on the spot? I’m a genius, no doubt about it. With a smirk, Kyungsoo pulled up Noeul’s number from his contacts and asked in the chat room again.
「Me: Should I ask if they have an alliance?」
「Neutaaaa: For victory… sure.」
「PoseidonLeader: Just ask if they have one, and I’ll send them a mail this afternoon.」
「Me: Oh, to Sunbal?」
「PoseidonLeader: Yes.」
「Me: Got it.」
「HalloweenEggplant: Haha, Meowie’s concubine will obviously say yes, hehe.」
「Me: Spit.」
「HalloweenEggplant: Yum yum.」
「Ji9star: Ugh, gross.」
Leaving the chat room, Kyungsoo called the number he had pre-entered. After a short dial tone, Noeul answered.
– Hello?
“What are you doing on the weekend?”
There was noise in the background. He could hear the sound of a keyboard being tapped as well. Noeul hesitated for a moment before mumbling a reply.
– …I’m at a PC café.
“Are you gaming? Is Jung Minjae with you?”
– He’s next to me. Why?
“You’re up early. Let me talk to him.”
– I don’t want to. Just tell me what you want to say, and I’ll pass it along.
“Forget it. I’m logging in now too.”
The computer was already on, and all that was left was to enter his ID and password. The speakers played the main login screen’s BGM. There was a crashing sound, followed by Noeul fumbling to pick up his phone.
– Ah, wait a second!
“Why? I’m hanging up.”
Noeul hung up first. Why the rush? Kyungsoo selected the third channel and logged into the game.
‘Meowie has logged into the game.’
[Guild] Meowie: Hey hey.
[Guild] Neutaaaa: Hey.
[Friend] SpadeQueen: Hellooo~
‘ThousandSunsets has logged into the game.’
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: What is this?
[Friend] ThousandSunsets: I accidentally pressed Alt+F4 and the game closed ㅠㅠ
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: All of a sudden?
[Friend] SpadeQueen: LOL Alt+F4, hahaha
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: Why are you laughing?
[Friend] SpadeQueen: I saw him pressing it right next to me, so it’s funny, haha.
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: Ah, Minjae, I have something to ask you… You’re going to join the siege battle, right?
[Friend] ThousandSunsets: Of course!
Kyungsoo blinked. Noeul wouldn’t even know what a siege battle is. The event hadn’t happened once since he started playing the game. It seemed like Noeul just wanted to join because it was a new event.
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: What do you even know? This is a guild battle. You can’t do it.
[Friend] ThousandSunsets: Oh…
[Friend] SpadeQueen: LOL he can do it, haha.
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: Isis?
[Friend] SpadeQueen: Yep, ㅇㅇ
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: Do you have an allied guild?
[Friend] SpadeQueen: As if! No one would want to ally with us, haha. You know why, LOL.
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: Ah, right, haha.
[Friend] ThousandSunsets: LOL…
Everything was perfect. Yes! Kyungsoo smirked as he sent a message to the guild chat saying, ‘They don’t have an allied guild!’ and started working on convincing Melody.
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: So what if…
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: We propose an alliance, would Sunset accept?
[Friend] SpadeQueen: Poseidon? Wait a second.
[Friend] SpadeQueen: Haha, he said yes.
[Friend] MeowieMeowMeow: Alright! The guild leader said they’ll send a message this evening!
[Friend] SpadeQueen: LOL, okay.
Feeling great, Kyungsoo invited Noeul to his party and focused on leveling him up until Noeul logged off to go home.
***
After submitting the alliance request through the event NPC, a ‘Guild Alliance Room’ became available to both guild members. The map was the same as a guild room, but the event NPC stood smiling in the center, and the guild emblems on the flags were different. Melody’s and Poseidon’s emblems automatically combined into a wave icon with colorful musical notes floating up.
[Global] Ji9star: Hello~
[Global] Supercool: Hi hi
[Global] Seolyeong: Hi
Players started to enter the alliance room one by one. Some were well-known, seen frequently around town, while others, likely focused on raids, were unfamiliar. Discussing tactics or chatting on normal maps could be overheard by other guilds, so the alliance room was created as a precaution. Since neither Melody nor Poseidon had accepted new members in months, there was no concern about spies.
[Global] Supercool: OMG! Hello, guild leader!!!!
[Global] Seolyeong: Welcome!!!
[Global] Aslen: Thank you for being here! Let’s have a great time!
[Global] Sunset: ?
As soon as Sunset entered the alliance room, formal greetings poured in, contrasting sharply with the casual ‘hi’ given to other users.
[Guild] Ji9star: …? Why are they acting like that? Do all guild leaders get this treatment?
[Guild] PoseidonCaptain: No way….
[Guild] PeaPea: I bet they wouldn’t even treat a mafia boss like this….
[Guild] neutaaaa: Not really….
[Guild] KidneRat: If you think about it, if Sunset were my guild leader, I’d probably act the same way, haha.
[Guild] PeaPea: Ah… I get it now.
[Guild] Ji9star: I’ve only ever seen the mischievous side of Sunset, so seeing the guild leader version is kinda weird.
[Guild] MeowieMeowMeow: Whisper/ Shut up.
[Guild] MeowieMeowMeow: Just kidding, haha.
[Guild] Ji9star: ㅠㅠ
[Guild] neutaaaa: Your whisper got exposed.
[Guild] Ji9star: Unbelievable. Can’t even call Meowie-cheop by its name in this so-called democratic country.
Kyungsoo had often seen Sunset joke around with vice-guild leader Minjae. The Sunset he recently got to know wasn’t as ruthless as the rumors made them out to be.
[Global] Sunset: Is that all you have to say for your last words?
Kyungsoo, who had just typed ‘Sunset is still human and even jokes around,’ pressed the backspace key to delete the sentence.
[Global] MeowieMeowMeow: WTF do you mean by last words?
[Global] MeowieMeowMeow: You sound like a mafia boss. T_T
He hit send, but it was on global chat. Sunset was now facing him. Kyungsoo froze.
[Global] MeowieMeowMeow: Oops, my bad, sorry.
Kyungsoo let out a small, defeated laugh. The message clearly looked like it was targeting Sunset.
[Guild] MeowieMeowMeow: Oh no… T_T T_T T_T
[Guild] PeaPea: LOL. Please, check where you’re sending messages!
[Guild] KidneyRat: Why do you always mess up like this? Haha!
[Guild] MeowieMeowMeow: What if I say it wasn’t about him?
[Guild] Ji9star: Who’d believe that? So lame.
[Guild] MeowieMeowMeow: Okay, I’ll just shut up. T_T
[Guild] neutaaaa: I see your last words…^^ Looks like you’ll be blasted soon too.
[Guild] HalloweenEggplant: Probably flattened like a star T_T
[Guild] PoseidonCaptain: Oof….
[Guild] MeowieMeowMeow: I’m doomed.
[Guild] Ji9star: Haha, last words.
It seemed even the Melody guild was chatting in their own guild channel, as the global chat went quiet for a while. Even in Poseidon, there was a debate going on about “What if the guild master changes to Sunset?”
[Global] Seolyeong: I have something serious to clarify.
[Global] HalloweenEggplant: Huh?
[Global] Seolyeong: LOL, we don’t normally greet like that, just wanted to clear that up LOL.
[Global] HalloweenEggplant: Who said that?
[Guild] Ji9star: It’s probably that Sunbal.
[Global] Seolyeong: Oops… That’s a secret! >_< (Yes, it’s Sun).
[Guild] Ji9star: LMAO what a fool.
[Global] SpadeQueen: LOL, you’ve totally exposed it.
[Global] Seolyeong: Who cares? If they don’t raise my rank, I’ll reveal the real name too.
[Guild] Ji9star: Using rank as a threat…reminds me of someone.
[Guild] HalloweenEggplant: Haha, who?
[Guild] Ji9star: Sunset…!
[Guild] HalloweenEggplant: Haha.
Shortly after, Seolyeong started a countdown.
[Global] Seolyeong: 3
[Global] Seolyeong: 2
[Global] Sunset: Raised your rank.
[Global] Seolyeong: 1, thanks.
[Global] MeowieMeowMeow: LOL, congrats LOL.
[Global] Seolyeong: Thanks haha.
[Global] Ji9star: LOL congrats.
[Global] Supercool: Yeah, it was just a joke^^ (Is this the right way to say it?)
[Global] Seolyeong: We just had some personal feelings left towards that person… So I hope everyone understands now… (Yes, you’re doing well).
So it was a joke after all. For a moment, I thought that’s how they normally greeted people and got a bit surprised. Well, who would act all strict in a game?
[Guild] Ji9star: Why the real name? Does anyone know Sunset’s real name?
[Guild] MeowieMeowMeow: No way LOL.
[Guild] Ji9star: What could it be… Must be something really lame LOL. I’m curious.
[Guild] neutaaaa: It’s so petty LOL. Am I the only one suddenly feeling close to them? No different from our guild master LOL.
[Guild] PoseidonLeader: ? I’m calling for a vote to kick out neutaaaa.
[Guild] PeaPea: Oh no…
[Guild] Ji9star: Bye, darlingㅠㅠ.
[Guild] neutaaaa: I meant to talk about the vice-guild masterㅠ.
‘neutaaaa has been demoted to a regular guild member.’
[Guild] neutaaaa: LOL dammitㅠ The guild master, the vice-guild master is abusing their power ㅠㅠ.
[Guild] PoseidonLeader: That’s what power is for.
[Guild] neutaaaa: ㅠ.
Messing around with ranks by the vice-guild master wasn’t new, so no one thought much of it. Then, amid the orange guild chat, a yellow whisper suddenly popped up.
[Whisper] Sunset: You’re not misunderstanding, right?ㅠㅠ.
[Whisper] Sunset: They’re just joking around.
“…….”
Why is he explaining this to me? Kyungsoo frowned in confusion. If I tattled about this in the guild, they’d just laugh it off and tease me with “Meowiecheop Meowiecheop.”
[Whisper] MeowieMeowMeow: I was just joking too, sorry sorry.
[Whisper] Sunset: Oh, that’s a relief^^.
[Global] SpadeQueen: Shall we start a practice game soon?
[Global] PoseidonLeader: Sure, let’s do a round between guilds.
[Global] SpadeQueen: We’ll probably win haha.
[Global] Seolyeong: If you lose after talking big like that, it’ll be super embarrassing tsk tsk.
[Global] HalloweenEggplant: Feeling confident, huh?
[Global] Ji9star: Really? LOL. Didn’t we totally stomp them last year? ㅇㅅㅇ.
At the word “stomp,” Seolyeong laughed, typing “LOL.” Some users, apparently provoked, used angry emoticons.
[Global] Sunset: By one kill LOL. If we had one more second, things would’ve been different ㅇㅅㅇ!!
[Global] MeowieMeowMeow: We’ll see how it goes, let’s go.
[Global] HalloweenEggplant: Losers always have a lot to say.
[Global] Seolyeong: Just curious, when’s your hair going to grow back?
[Global] HalloweenEggplant: Yeah, seriously ¯\_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯.
HalloweenEggplant still couldn’t access the makeup shop. He was trying his best to match his bald look, donning a straw hat and dressing in colorful resort clothes. But just seeing the letter “D” of “bald” made him defensive.
After PoseidonLeader talked to NPC Genes, a red light soon appeared in the alliance room.
‘You have selected a Practice Guild PVP Domination Match ver. (Isis). Points earned in practice matches do not count towards guild rankings.’
‘You are now moving to the event map.’
Soon, after a few seconds of loading, a game map based on Isis, a representative village in Illusion, appeared. The party limit was ten, but in siege battles, the entire team is grouped into a party to see party chat.
‘Please build a fortress.’
By destroying as many floating bricks as possible, the fortress is automatically built. Short-range dealers aimed for the ones rising from the ground, while long-range dealers climbed the fortress to target the floating bricks. After building the fortress, you must install subsidiary buildings to protect it. Choosing the right ones and placing guild members strategically is key.
[Party] MeowieMeowMeow: What subsidiary buildings did you build?
[Party] HalloweenEggplant: Last year, we had 1 hospital and 2 supply depots….
[Party] MeowieMeowMeow: How many slots are left?
[Party] Ji9star: Leave one slot for obstacles; we’ll need to step on them.
[Party] PoseidonLeader: Don’t place too many near the fortress. Melody might step on them to climb up.
No one really remembered. It seemed the guild members didn’t either. But as the practice game progressed, the necessary strategies would start to come back to them.
[Party] neutaaaa: Personally, I hated the Melody battle the most last year, but I don’t know why….
[Party] PoseidonLeader: Oh, I remember. It felt like there were dozens of Ji9star’s….
[Party] MeowieMeowMeow: Really?
[Party] Ji9star: LOL, yeah, everyone was moving around, it was so frustrating;;; that’s my thingㅠㅠ.
[Party] PoseidonLeader: And surprisingly, Sunset might have… been faster than you, Ji9star.
[Party] Ji9star: I’m not the same person as last year, lol.
[Party] ParkRoach: I’ll handle buffs and healing in Zone 1. I’ve claimed it, so other healers can just head wherever’s left.
T/N:
1.서저리나” sounds like “Seo-jeo-ri-na” in Korean.
서 (“Seo”)-저 (“Jeo”)-리 (“Ri”)-나 (“Na”)
2. The word “chair” in “Chair-Meowie” (의자냥) comes from a playful reference to **King Uija** (의자왕), whose name sounds like “chair” in Korean (의자 also means “chair”). In this context, the nickname “Chair-Meowie” is a humorous way of referring to Meowie, combining the “chair” (a play on King Uija) and “Meowie”.
The joke is that just like King Uija was known for having many concubines, they’re teasing “Meowie” for playing the game with a similar strategy, hence the playful nickname “Chair-Meowie.” It’s meant to be funny, not literal.
