The two “groundhogs” spent half an hour crying and laughing before they finally calmed down and began a heated discussion on how to claim the prize. After all, there were plenty of news stories about lottery winners being robbed—or worse!
There were even cases where entire families had been murdered!
Qiao Qiao insisted on wearing a mask and sunglasses, covering himself up completely so no one would recognize him.
Zhang Peng thought such a getup would be too suspicious and attract more attention. He suggested that it would be better to wear a simple T-shirt and jeans, blending into the crowd.
Qiao Qiao confidently argued, “Even if I dress plainly, my face isn’t plain. People will remember me at a glance.”
Zhang Peng sighed, “How about you just don’t go? I’m ordinary, I’ll go and claim it.”
Qiao Qiao raised an eyebrow and asked slowly, “A cola-scented alpha… is that ordinary?”
Zhang Peng had no response to that and was left feeling quite frustrated. But what annoyed him even more was, “Do you really think I look ordinary?”
“Not ordinary, not ordinary at all.” Qiao Qiao said, covering his nose. “Just as long as you don’t release that cherry cola scent again. We’re on the same team; no biochemical attacks, okay?”
Zhang Peng took a deep breath. “Xiao Qiao, could you maybe show a bit more respect to a future millionaire? How about we talk about a prenuptial agreement?”
Qiao Qiao quickly grabbed a tissue, and tears welled up in his eyes almost instantly. “The wife of humble origins must not be cast aside!”
A vein popped out on Zhang Peng’s forehead.
Qiao Qiao threw away the tissue, took Zhang Peng’s hand, and with deep emotion, recited, “If wealth comes, we must not forget each other!”
His eyes sparkled as if they were filled with little dollar signs.
“Fine, fine.” Zhang Peng said, rubbing his temples. “You go claim the money. It’s all yours.”
Qiao Qiao stroked his chin. “Let me think about how to do it.”
The next day.
Zhang Peng was bewildered to find a voluptuous, stunningly sexy beauty in his house.
Qiao Qiao adjusted his fake chest and asked, “How about now? Can you still recognize me?”
“No, I don’t recognize you.” Zhang Peng replied after staring at Qiao Qiao for a long time. “But, seriously, aren’t you just using this as an excuse to live out your fantasy of cross-dressing? Where were you hiding all this gear—wig, dress, stockings, even high heels? I have to admit, I’m really curious.”
Qiao Qiao stopped his sultry poses and protested, “I’m making a huge sacrifice for safety!”
Zhang Peng had his doubts about the “sacrifice” but he had to admit it was a good plan. So, he went along with it, letting Qiao Qiao transform into a cross-dressing queen to claim the prize, while he waited in a café across the street from the lottery shop.
The five million yuan jackpot, after taxes, left over three million. Qiao Qiao took the check and smoothly tucked it into his fake chest.
The lottery shop staff stared in shock, realizing that people really did hide money like that in real life.
Feeling uneasy, Qiao Qiao quickly exited the lottery shop and shot a glance at Zhang Peng, who was seated by the window in the café across the street, signaling him that it was time to leave.
Zhang Peng was on the phone and didn’t catch Qiao Qiao’s signal. Instead, a BMW 7 Series slowly rolled down its window, revealing a grinning man who was clearly interested.
Qiao Qiao’s face turned cold. The old saying “joy begets sorrow” was all too true. How could he be so unlucky as to run into his ex right after claiming a lottery prize?
“Hey, pretty lady, want to go for a ride?” It was Luo Xuan, who not long ago had been on his knees begging for Qiao Qiao’s forgiveness. Now, upon seeing this beautiful woman, he was eager to ask her out. To be fair, he did have a type—he was always drawn to Qiao Qiao’s looks.
Qiao Qiao sneered, “Ride off into the sunset, why don’t you?”
Luo Xuan, undeterred, grinned, “I like a woman with an attitude. Look.” he leaned out of the car and pointed to the BMW emblem, “B, M, W. Not just any BMW, this is the 7 Series.”
Qiao Qiao felt like taking off his high heels and smashing Luo Xuan’s head in, but then he saw Zhang Peng crossing the street toward him, having just finished his phone call. A new plan formed in his mind, and he waved excitedly at Zhang Peng, playing the lovestruck fan. “Hey, handsome! Add me on WeChat!”
Luo Xuan followed Qiao Qiao’s gaze and saw Zhang Peng. “Damn it, it’s him again?!” He had been thwarted by Zhang Peng multiple times before and was furious. Grabbing his car keys, he jumped out of the car. “Zhang Peng, how’s your profit margin this year?”
Zhang Peng, already suspecting that Qiao Qiao was up to his usual antics, was caught off guard when Luo Xuan suddenly appeared. Now, he understood why Qiao Qiao had been acting that way.
Quickly sidestepping Luo Xuan, Zhang Peng approached Qiao Qiao. “Miss, is he bothering you?”
Qiao Qiao gave him a playful wink.
Zhang Peng’s first thought was how adorable Xiao Qiao’s wink was. It took a second for him to realize Qiao Qiao was just signaling him.
Oh… lust really does cloud the mind.
Luo Xuan, seeing their flirtation, got desperate. “Miss, don’t be fooled by this guy’s good looks. He’s actually broke! Claims to be an entrepreneur, but he can’t even secure a round of funding. He’s on the brink of bankruptcy.”
Zhang Peng was well-known in the startup community, and someone like Luo Xuan, a rich kid, had naturally heard of him.
Qiao Qiao gave Luo Xuan a dismissive glance and brushed his fingers lightly along Zhang Peng’s cheek. “I’ve got plenty of money. As long as he’s good-looking, that’s all I care about.”
Zhang Peng caught Qiao Qiao’s hand, his expression cold. “I’ll spend the night with you. Invest five million in me.”
Qiao Qiao took a few steps forward in his high heels, nearly pressing himself against Zhang Peng. “Well, that depends…” He tilted his head, reached out with his other hand, and tapped Zhang Peng’s lips. “…on how well you serve.”
Zhang Peng looked impatient. “Shall we?”
Hand in hand, they turned to leave.
Luo Xuan: “???” Zhang Peng’s face is worth five million? Seriously??
Luo Xuan was nearly losing his mind, chasing after Qiao Qiao and shouting, “Don’t let him fool you—he has a boyfriend!”
Qiao Qiao turned back to look at Luo Xuan. “So what? Is that even an issue?” He glanced at Luo Xuan’s short, chubby fingers with pity. “No need to follow us. I’ve never liked short hands. Go home and play Honor of Kings. The grown-up games aren’t for you.”
Luo Xuan stopped in his tracks, completely confused. Why does having short hands mean I can’t play grown-up games? He started pondering this while standing there, lost in thought.
Once they were safely inside the company car, Zhang Peng glanced in the rearview mirror and saw that Luo Xuan was still staring at his hands.
Suddenly, Zhang Peng felt that arguing with idiots was pointless.
He turned to Qiao Qiao, impressed. “That was a good one. You threw him off with just a comment about his hands, and now he’s stuck thinking about it.”
Qiao Qiao nodded seriously. “It wasn’t just a random comment. I’d never like someone with short hands.”
Zhang Peng quickly checked his own hands—long and slender, definitely not short. Feeling reassured, he leaned back in the seat, relaxed. “So, you’re into hands? I didn’t know that.”
Qiao Qiao shook his head. “It’s not about being into hands. I just care if they’re long. Long hands mean… you know, other things are long too. Got it?”
“Cough, cough!” The driver started choking on his saliva.
Zhang Peng quietly turned to look out the window.
Qiao Qiao glanced in the rearview mirror. The driver’s ears were pricked up, clearly interested in their conversation. So, he lowered his voice and whispered in Zhang Peng’s ear, “Based on yours, I’d say that theory holds true!”
Suddenly, the car was filled with an overwhelming scent of cola.
Being complimented on that… who could resist?
Zhang Peng’s pheromones surged.
Qiao Qiao’s phone buzzed, and when he checked it, a text from an unknown number appeared.
“Your boyfriend is cheating on you! I’m following him right now! It’s up to you whether you want to come!”
Qiao Qiao looked genuinely surprised. He hadn’t expected Luo Xuan to even get his number.
The strong cola scent instantly faded as Zhang Peng leaned over and saw the message.
Qiao Qiao put on an innocent face, and Zhang Peng chuckled darkly.
Qiao Qiao sniffed the air and patted Zhang Peng’s arm. “Don’t you think there’s a weird smell in the car?”
Zhang Peng kept a straight face. “Yeah, something sour. It’s overwhelming.”
He was too honest, leaving Qiao Qiao momentarily speechless.
Qiao Qiao turned around and saw that a BMW 7 Series was indeed tailing them. Luo Xuan, seeing them look back, flipped them the middle finger.
Zhang Peng politely returned the gesture and asked Qiao Qiao, “Haven’t blocked him yet?”
Qiao Qiao had been planning to discuss how to get rid of this persistent annoyance, but Zhang Peng’s sharp question left him stumped.
Qiao Qiao quickly said, “Right away, putting him in the blacklist.”
Under Zhang Peng’s loving gaze, Qiao Qiao swiftly blocked Luo Xuan.
Zhang Peng pretended to look away indifferently. “No need to force yourself just for me.”
Qiao Qiao leaned against him, “Please, it’s all his fault for being so clingy.”
The driver lowered the window a bit, muttering, “The air’s too sour. I need some fresh air.”
Qiao Qiao pretended not to hear and continued to snuggle up to Zhang Peng.
Zhang Peng maintained his serious demeanor and glanced sideways at Qiao Qiao. “If you don’t want to talk about your past, that’s fine.”
“What past?” Qiao Qiao said, feigning deep regret. “Back then, I was young and foolish. We were just kids playing house. After less than three months together, he went abroad to study and didn’t leave a single word for me. I emailed his professor, ratted him out, and exposed all his cheating in competitions. He had no choice but to drop out and ended up at some diploma mill.”
Zhang Peng couldn’t help but admire him. “Well done.” He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. “Surprisingly, he doesn’t hold a grudge.”
Qiao Qiao puffed out his chest. “Do I seem like the type to leave loose ends? His family is powerful; I was just an ordinary student. Actually, to this day, he still doesn’t know I was the one who got him kicked out of school.”
Zhang Peng praised him again, “Xiao Qiao, you’re smart.”
Qiao Qiao beamed with pride. “That’s why I’ve always said my dictionary doesn’t have the word ‘divorce.’ There’s only ‘widowhood.’ There are plenty of ways to make someone disappear quietly.”
Zhang Peng couldn’t muster any more praise. He suddenly felt a chill down his spine.
Qiao Qiao smiled sweetly, “But Peng Peng would never cheat on me, right?”
Zhang Peng nodded furiously. “Right, right, right.”
The driver quietly lowered the window a bit more.
Qiao Qiao glared at him. “Is it really that sour in here?”
“It’s not that.” the driver shook his head. “Now I’m just a little scared.”
Qiao Qiao replied politely, “Don’t worry. I’m a PhD Doctorate. I wouldn’t just casually make someone disappear.”
“…” The driver glanced sympathetically at Zhang Peng.
But Zhang Peng thought he was being envied and smiled. “My wife is a PhD Doctorate. Impressive, right?”
The driver was silent for a moment, then said, “You two really are a perfect match.”
Qiao Qiao nodded. “Of course.”
