MOFB Chapter 15

A true strong man is never afraid of pain

When they were climbing the mountain, it was mostly groups of several people together. The Alpha students from Class Three wished they could accompany the few Omega students from their class throughout the journey.

Chen Xingchi also wanted to join but couldn’t find any lone Omega students around. He sighed and followed Shen Huai Zhi, who was walking as if there was no one else around, and glanced back a few times. “Isn’t that Jiang Heng and Lu Zhuan over there?”

Not far behind them, Jiang Heng had originally been walking in front of Lu Zhuan. However, Lu Zhuan must have said something because Jiang Heng stopped, turned to look at him, and Lu Zhuan smiled back.

Chen Xingchi hesitated for a moment. “They seem quite compatible.”

Jiang Heng was slightly taller than Lu Zhuan, and the sun was scorching. Jiang Heng was wearing a black baseball cap with a low brim that concealed most of his face. While it was difficult to see his facial features, his side profile was still distinct. He appeared slightly slender but not frail. When he stood next to Shen Huai Zhi earlier, Jiang Heng seemed shorter and somewhat thinner. However, when standing beside Lu Zhuan, there was no such feeling. He actually looked more like an Alpha than an Omega.

Well, he did exude a boyfriend vibe.

Shen Huai Zhi’s steps faltered.

Jiang Heng squatted down in front of Lu Zhuan. “Can you still walk?”

“I’m okay, I should be able to,” Lu Zhuan replied. Just a moment ago, he had accidentally stepped on a stone and twisted his ankle. He hadn’t noticed it at first, but when Jiang Heng asked, the pain in his ankle began to throb.

He tried standing up, and as soon as his right foot touched the ground, he lurched forward.

Jiang Heng’s quick reflexes allowed him to extend his hand, preventing Lu Zhuan from falling.

However, their contact lasted only a couple of seconds before Jiang Heng withdrew his hand.

“If you can’t walk, just let the teacher know,” Jiang Heng said as he kept his hand poised on Lu Zhuan’s shoulder to prevent him from falling again.

Lu Zhuan shook his head. “It’s fine, I can walk. But it would be great if you could help support me a bit.”

Jiang Heng raised his eyelids slightly, but Lu Zhuan couldn’t see his expression due to the low brim of the cap.

After a moment of silence, Jiang Heng spoke slowly, “Wait here.”

The hope in Lu Zhuan’s eyes was quite apparent, but Jiang Heng wasn’t willing to give him any false hopes. However, he couldn’t just leave him there.

After about ten seconds, Jiang Heng switched from carrying his backpack on one shoulder to wearing it on both shoulders. He walked in front of Lu Zhuan, turned sideways, and said, “Hold onto my backpack.”

Lu Zhuan hesitated for a moment. The light in his eyes dimmed, but he obediently grabbed onto Jiang Heng’s backpack.

They hadn’t resumed walking yet, and Jiang Heng lowered his eyelids as he said in a deliberate tone, “If you really can’t walk, don’t force yourself.”

He wasn’t intentionally being harsh on Lu Zhuan.

It’s just that if he had twisted his own ankle, he wouldn’t want to trouble anyone else. Besides, someone like him wouldn’t twist their ankle in the first place. No matter what, he would perform a skateboarding show in place.

Twisting one’s ankle wasn’t something a strong Omega should do, Jiang Heng thought.

This time, Lu Zhuan remained silent for a while before finally responding with a faint “okay.”

“What’s going on?” Chen Xingchi observed the two for a while and noticed that Lu Zhuan didn’t seem alright, so he came down with Shen Huai Zhi.

Jiang Heng raised the brim of his cap slightly. He used to dislike wearing hats no matter how sunny it was. However, today, perhaps due to taking suppressants the previous night, his face had started to flush after a short time under the sun, so he had no choice but to put on the hat. Fortunately, he had brought it with him when he left in the morning.

“Nothing, just accidentally twisted his ankle,” Lu Zhuan said, stepping back a bit and hiding behind Jiang Heng.

Chen Xingchi didn’t notice this subtle action. He nodded and looked at the hand that Lu Zhuan was holding onto Jiang Heng’s backpack. He smiled and said, “If you can’t make it, can I help support you?”

Jiang Heng was an Omega, and although he played basketball vigorously, he might not be able to handle climbing while dragging someone along.

After Chen Xingchi spoke, Lu Zhuan tightened his grip on Jiang Heng’s backpack. Seeing that Jiang Heng didn’t seem to intend to respond, he shook his head and said, “No need, thanks. This is fine.”

He wasn’t too eager to have contact with Alphas.

Chen Xingchi sighed. “Alright, then I’ll walk alongside both of you.”

After saying that, he turned to look at Shen Huai Zhi and asked, “Captain, is that okay?”

This meant he was suggesting that Shen Huai Zhi accompany them.

Shen Huai Zhi glanced at Lu Zhuan, then shifted his gaze to Lu Zhuan’s hand holding onto Jiang Heng’s backpack. He nodded, saying in an official tone, “If you can’t continue, just let us know. You can take a break or take the cable car down.”

His response was very formal, with the tone of someone concerned about ordinary students, much like when he had expressed concern for Jiang Heng earlier.

Jiang Heng’s fingers twitched in his pocket.

For some reason, he felt a bit restless, possibly due to the side effects of the suppressants.

Damn it, these suppressants had such significant side effects.

Even though Shen Huai Zhi was right there, he still had an inexplicable desire to get closer, to touch the other person, to let him invade with pheromones.

Once this idea emerged, he couldn’t suppress it no matter what, and it seemed to be escalating.

Jiang Heng cursed himself inwardly.

Damn, was he always like this?

He kept his expression tense and didn’t dare to look at Shen Huai Zhi. He was afraid that if he didn’t control himself, he might just pounce on him.

After all, he wasn’t someone with great self-control.

“Is it very hot?” But since he didn’t speak, Shen Huai Zhi moved closer to him.

Jiang Heng glanced downward, took a moment to look at Shen Huai Zhi, and then replied, “It’s okay.”

It wasn’t really that hot; he just felt a bit flushed.

Shen Huai Zhi nodded. Due to the cap obstructing his view, he could only see Jiang Heng’s profile. The sun had made his face slightly red, different from his usual self. It seemed a bit softer, less stern.

“I just saw you and Jiang Heng in front of me, and I thought you two looked quite compatible,” Chen Xingchi was restless, and he had been talking while walking beside Lu Zhuan. “Leaving everything else aside, Jiang Heng seems quite boyfriend material.”

Lu Zhuan blushed. “No, don’t say that. We’re both Omegas…”

He trailed off with a lowered tone.

Indeed, both were Omegas, and there weren’t many Omegas willing to be in a relationship with other Omegas, even if that person was Jiang Heng.

Chen Xingchi didn’t notice this and chuckled. “Well, that’s fine. There are examples of OmegaxOmega couples… Oh, sorry…” He was about to continue joking when he happened to see Shen Huai Zhi handing a bottle of water to Jiang Heng.

He immediately stopped himself, realizing what he had said earlier.

What was he joking about just now?

Fortunately, Captain didn’t hear him, right?

“What’s wrong?” Lu Zhuan asked. When he looked over, Jiang Heng had already taken the mineral water and the two of them were talking.

Lu Zhuan bit his lip immediately and turned his head to look at Chen Xingchi.

Chen Xingchi laughed awkwardly. Just when he was relieved, he noticed Shen Huai Zhi giving him a slight glance.

“It’s twisted open,” Jiang Heng said, seemingly a bit hesitant as he held the bottled water. Shen Huai Zhi reminded him.

Jiang Heng was momentarily startled but immediately raised an eyebrow and smiled, “Thank you, Captain.” He wasn’t really hesitating; he was just momentarily surprised. After spending a night alone with Shen Huai Zhi, the sudden change in his attitude left him a bit bewildered. Now he was even offering water voluntarily.

It made him unsure how to proceed. He hadn’t even started implementing his grand plan to pursue him.

After saying that, he tilted his head and took a sip of water.

This time, Shen Huai Zhi noticed it.

Jiang Heng’s face was indeed quite flushed, even his neck had turned red. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed, and a water droplet clung to the corner of his lips.

Shen Huai Zhi’s fingers, resting on the bag, couldn’t help but rub against it for a moment before he withdrew his gaze.

Jiang Heng finished drinking and involuntarily licked his lips, then smiled and said, “Captain, you’re the best.”

He was getting more and more skilled, and he even had a slight sense of coquetry.

Noticing a momentary stiffness in Shen Huai Zhi’s back, Jiang Heng added, “You’re the best to me.”

“You care so much about me, and you even called to wake me up.”

He seemed genuinely happy.

Shen Huai Zhi: …

Jiang Heng: “I’m having trouble walking. Can I hold onto you?”

He said and licked his lips a couple more times.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t walk; he had someone behind him to support him. It was just that Shen Huai Zhi had made his legs weak, and today, he felt an extra strong desire to get closer to him.

“Ah!”

Shen Huai Zhi remained silent for a while and hadn’t had a chance to reply when he heard Lu Zhuan scream.

Someone had thrown a garbage bag on the ground, and it was slippery. Lu Zhuan wasn’t paying attention and stepped on it, but it was inconvenient for him to walk while holding onto Jiang Heng’s bag. When he tried to let go, the entire weight of the bag pulled him backward.

Chen Xingchi, standing next to him, immediately reacted and reached out to pull Lu Zhuan.

However, despite Lu Zhuan letting go of Jiang Heng’s bag in time, Jiang Heng was still dragged back a few steps. Add to that the fact that the ground was still damp and slippery, and Jiang Heng slipped backward without any warning.

In the instant he fell, Jiang Heng tensed up and prepared himself. Fortunately, he didn’t twist his ankle.

He hadn’t had a chance to perform a little sliding act in place.

Passersby and classmates were all in a panic, some were screaming, and those who wanted to help didn’t know what to do.

Jiang Heng closed his eyes resignedly.

A true strong person is never afraid of pain; he had suffered many injuries in the past from fighting.

However, the expected pain didn’t come.

A pair of hands cushioned him at the moment he fell.

Shen Huai Zhi’s one hand was placed behind Jiang Heng’s head, and the other on his back. They were pressed closely together in an almost intimate posture.

The comforting and long-awaited pheromones flooded Jiang Heng’s senses desperately in that instant, wrapping around him tightly.
