MOFB Chapter 16

Is my brother a superman?

“I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. If I hadn’t wanted to come up together just now,” Lu turned into tears, panting heavily. He sprained his ankle again, and this time he really couldn’t walk.

The class teacher of Class Three furrowed his brow and comforted him softly, “It’s okay, don’t cry. You two go to the hospital first, the cable car will be here in a while.”

After saying that, he looked at Jiang Heng, who was sitting on the side.

Summer clothes are thin, and although Shen Huaizhi protected him when they fell, Jiang Heng’s leg still hit a rock. It was just a stroke of bad luck that there happened to be a sharp-edged stone nearby. The two of them rolled down together, and Jiang Heng’s leg grazed that stone, tearing his pants and leaving a cut on his calf. It wasn’t too deep, but due to the large area of the injury, it kept bleeding.

Jiang Heng lowered his head, and the class teacher couldn’t see his expression clearly, but he never once cried out in pain.

They were originally halfway up the mountain, and a cable car stop was just a few steps ahead.

After the incident, several classmates from their class nearby immediately informed the class teacher, and now everyone was gathered around the cable car stop.

“If I had sprained my foot, I definitely wouldn’t come up. Would it be uncomfortable to sit there and eat?”

“Do we have to burden others, too? Jiang Heng is really unlucky.”

“You guys keep your voices down, or Lu Zhuan might hear you and start crying again.”

Several beta individuals were making sarcastic comments.

Jiang Heng lowered his eyelids, and he didn’t feel much pain, “You’re really good at empathizing with others.”

He raised an eyebrow and looked at the betas who were speaking. They were quite loud, and people nearby could hear them clearly. It was obvious they were saying it for Lu Zhuan to hear.

The voices of the several beta individuals abruptly stopped.

Jiang Heng chuckled. Even though he was injured, his complexion didn’t change much. His clothes were stained with mud, and his arm was dirty with a few small cuts still oozing blood.

He wasn’t one to enjoy a spectacle, especially when he didn’t feel like he had done anything wrong. These people starting to blame him was truly annoying.

“We were just speaking the truth,” one of the betas said.

Jiang Heng had a naturally ungentle appearance, and now with his cap slightly askew, he had a bit of a rogue look. When that person made the comment, he tugged at the corner of his lips and retorted, “Oh, then why didn’t you step up to be my human cushion earlier?”

The person choked for a moment, “Why should I?”

As he spoke, the person glanced at Shen Huaizhi, appearing hesitant to continue.

Shen Huaizhi wasn’t much better. He was wearing his school uniform and, unusually for him, wasn’t wearing a jacket today. At this point, his school uniform and pants were smeared with mud, and his usually proud demeanor had been completely shattered, making him look a bit disheveled. He also had several scratches on his arm, though not as serious as Jiang Heng’s. He was still sitting upright beside Jiang Heng, but he kept his eyes down and didn’t say a word.

The person opened their mouth as if to continue speaking but heard Jiang Heng laugh, “Then why are you standing here criticizing others?”

“Is it because you have hands and feet and are a person, or is it because you’re standing there with a mouth that can move?”

“Are you hurting on my behalf?”

Sitting next to Lu Zhuan, comforting him, Chen Xingchi, said, “…”

Lu Zhuan had temporarily stopped crying, his tear-stained face now looking at Jiang Heng, but he couldn’t maintain eye contact for long.

Everything these people were saying was true. If he hadn’t insisted on pushing forward, neither Jiang Heng nor the squad leader would have gotten injured.

Lu Zhuan stared blankly at the ground, then stole a glance at Jiang Heng, falling silent.

He Qici, who had rushed to the scene upon hearing about it, didn’t know whether to approach or step back from the beta who was causing all this commotion.

He had thought that this guy was seriously injured, and things had been chaotic over there a moment ago, startling students from several other classes as well.

And now, they were still energetically mocking people here.

He Qici thought for a moment and decided to send a message to Jiang Heng. With Shen Huaizhi there, things probably wouldn’t get out of hand.

“Enough!” The class teacher was getting a terrible headache. They were still arguing even though something had already happened.

Jiang Heng gave the beta a disdainful glance and licked his lips, not looking very friendly, as he said, “Teacher.”

The class teacher suppressed their irritation and looked at him.

Jiang Heng hadn’t even spoken a word when someone lightly grabbed his wrist.

Shen Huaizhi asked, “Does it hurt?”

Jiang Heng was momentarily stunned but quickly realized what was going on. He lowered his head to look at the hand holding his wrist, which had been behind his head just a moment ago. The back of the hand had been scraped and was oozing blood. Although it was just a superficial abrasion, it looked scary, with dirt mixed in the blood, and it was a far cry from Shen Huaizhi’s usual appearance.

Jiang Heng immediately closed his mouth and responded with a tense expression, “It hurts.”

His voice instantly lowered a few degrees.

Seeing that he had shifted his attention, Shen Huaizhi made a sound of acknowledgment. Before he could retract his hand, Jiang Heng licked his lips and asked him, “Squad leader, can I hold your hand?”

As he spoke, he stared at Shen Huaizhi directly.

Clearly, he had just fallen and hurt himself, but Jiang Heng’s face was still slightly flushed, and the skin where Shen Huaizhi was holding his wrist was also warm to the touch.

“Is it here?” The class teacher squatted down to examine Lu Zhuan’s ankle.

Lu Zhuan had stopped crying, but his eyes were red and swollen, making him look particularly pitiable.

He nodded.

Shen Huaizhi raised his gaze to look at Lu Zhuan for a moment and then shifted his focus back to Jiang Heng, asking, “Is it very painful?”

Jiang Heng furrowed his brow and nodded, “Very painful, extremely painful. It’s so painful that I might faint if I don’t hold the squad leader’s hand.”

Well, it wasn’t entirely true. The pain only intensified when he was administered suppressants.

Having experienced that kind of pain, the current injury didn’t hurt as much.

Shen Huaizhi usually didn’t smile much.

But right now, he had to forcefully suppress a smile that was threatening to appear at this moment.

He remained silent for a while to control his smile before finally responding, “Don’t faint. We’ll have to go to the hospital in a little while.”

As he said this, he didn’t retract his hand. Instead, he placed his hand on Jiang Heng’s knee and said, “Hold on.”

Jiang Heng replied, “Oh.”

He held onto Shen Huaizhi’s wrist with a straight face. Shen Huaizhi’s wrist was slightly cool, but it couldn’t dispel the warmth in Jiang Heng’s palm.

Why was his heartbeat racing like this?

Was his heart out of control?

Damn, why was Shen Huaizhi so perfectly aligned with his aesthetics? Why did Shen Huaizhi still look so good even when he was dirty?

Jiang Heng pursed his lips with an expressionless face.

He was afraid that if he showed any expression, his eyebrows would start laughing.

There was still some pheromone residue left on his body from when Shen Huaizhi had protected him just now. Although it was very faint, perhaps only a trace that had been transferred to his body from Shen Huaizhi, even that small amount was enough to trigger his physiological response. It had been enough to calm his earlier desire to get closer to Shen Huaizhi.

But as soon as he grabbed Shen Huaizhi’s wrist, Jiang Heng felt a strange sensation in his glands.

It might be his imagination, but the itchiness seemed to be radiating from within, as if something was teasing, tempting, and demanding to be pierced or possessed, right near his glands.

Jiang Heng once again experienced the physiological urge of an omega wanting to be marked by an alpha. He couldn’t control it at all.

He immediately withdrew his hand. He couldn’t touch Shen Huaizhi anymore; he suspected he would overheat if he did.

As he let go of Shen Huaizhi’s hand, Shen Huaizhi looked at him somewhat unexpectedly. Shen Huaizhi’s hand was still resting on Jiang Heng’s knee. After Jiang Heng’s sarcastic remark, most people had dispersed from this area, and even the class teacher didn’t want a group of people gathered here. They didn’t want the extracurricular activity to be ruined, and any blame from the school would likely fall on their heads.

Hardly anyone had witnessed this scene. Even Chen Xingchi, who was beside them, was still focused on Lu Zhuan and hadn’t deliberately paid attention to Jiang Heng and Shen Huaizhi.

Shen Huaizhi discreetly flexed his fingers and withdrew his hand.

The cable car arranged by the staff arrived quickly. They were concerned because an incident had occurred, and one of the students involved was not someone to trifle with. Without much discussion, they immediately arranged for a car to pick them up at the foot of the mountain to take them to the hospital.

At the hospital, the class teacher took Lu Zhuan to the orthopedic department, as his ankle had been injured a second time. Lu Zhuan truly couldn’t walk now, and he had to rely on Chen Xingchi for support.

After helping Lu Zhuan check in and sending him upstairs, Chen Xingchi had to leave. After all, his situation with Lu Zhuan was different, and Jiang Heng was with Shen Huaizhi, who didn’t require company.

So, Chen Xingchi could only sit alone in the lobby, playing with his phone, feeling somewhat lonely.

The surgery department still had a waiting line.

Shen Huaizhi had a hand supporting Jiang Heng’s back to prevent him from falling.

Both of them were good-looking, and quite a few people looked at them.

Sitting next to them was a mother and her daughter, a young girl who was only a few years old. She was being held in her mother’s arms and had a small cut on her calf that was still bleeding, causing her to gasp for breath as she cried.

Her mother was reassuring her, “It doesn’t hurt, baby. It’ll stop hurting when you sleep.”

Jiang Heng glanced at the mother and daughter a few times and then lowered his head to look at Shen Huaizhi’s hand again.

Once they arrived at the hospital, the strange sensation Jiang Heng had been feeling earlier had disappeared. It might have been due to the sudden and startling event, which had made his emotions highly sensitive.

“Squad leader…” Jiang Heng blinked, looking expectantly at Shen Huaizhi, who had held his hand for a brief moment.

It itches in my heart.

Shen Huaizhi raised an eyebrow in confusion.

I’m in pain, and I also want to hold hands for comfort.

Jiang Heng opened his mouth to speak but hadn’t said anything yet when the little girl sitting next to them tugged at the hem of his clothes. She had emerged from her mother’s embrace and was now halfway out, gazing at the bloodstains on Jiang Heng’s leg. Even though it had been simply bandaged, the traces of blood from earlier were still somewhat frightening.

With tears in her eyes, the little girl looked up at him with admiration and said, “Big brother, you’re so brave.”

Jiang Heng immediately swallowed his words.

The little girl struggled free from her mother’s arms, and from quite a distance away, she blew a breath in the direction of Jiang Heng’s wound, saying, “Even though you didn’t cry, you have to sleep.”

Both Jiang Heng and Shen Huaizhi were momentarily taken aback. The little girl’s mother, wearing an apologetic expression, patted her daughter’s back.

“You see, big brother must be a superhero. Baby has met a superhero, so there’s no more reason to cry.”

Upon hearing her mother’s words, the little girl hiccupped and asked Jiang Heng, “Is big brother a superhero?”

Jiang Heng smiled, and there was a rare gentleness in his eyes as he replied, “Yes, big brother is a superhero.”

The little girl was particularly delighted and said, “Wow, I knew it! Only superheroes aren’t afraid of pain! My mom says I’m not a superhero, that’s why I cried!”

After hesitating for a couple of seconds, Jiang Heng reached out to pat the little girl’s head. “Now that a superhero has touched your head, you won’t feel pain anymore.”

“Okay!” The little girl managed to smile through her tears.

Shen Huaizhi watched as Jiang Heng comforted the little girl, despite the fact that his own wound was still bleeding, and he was covered in dirt. Yet, there was still a smile on his face.

The underage omega’s features were not yet fully mature, and a hint of childishness was still visible when he smiled. However, there was something quite dazzling about him, something that naturally drew people’s attention.

Shen Huaizhi chuckled softly.

“The next one, Jiang Heng.”

When Jiang Heng’s name was called, he patted the little girl’s head once more before going inside with Shen Huaizhi.

As they approached the door, Jiang Heng suddenly grabbed Shen Huaizhi’s hand and looked at him, saying, “Big brother, I’m in pain too. I want to sleep. Sleeping will make the pain go away.”

His expression instantly appeared particularly pitiful.

He changes his expression rather quickly.

Shen Huaizhi: …
