Although Sheng Zhao had indeed mentioned wanting to try out this new experience more than once, he knew in his gut that Xing Yingzhuo, who was so concerned about his reputation, wouldn’t willingly let himself be used as a tool. It was as unlikely as the sun rising in the north.
…But now, the sun was actually rising in the north.
In the freezing mountain wind, the only sensation Sheng Zhao could truly feel was the hand holding him at the waist.
He was acutely aware that, at least in this moment, his life was entirely at the mercy of Xing Yingzhuo.
But even in this precarious state, besides the instinctive fear, Sheng Zhao’s inherently risky nature began to stir. His heart was beating fast, yet his mind remained focused. Despite the rushing wind in his ears, he could still hear Xing Yingzhuo’s shallow breathing.
His chest barely rose and fell, and he maintained his typical laid-back demeanor, as if lying on the couch at home watching the evening news.
However, Sheng Zhao had never been able to resist Xing Yingzhuo’s lazy appearance. Right from the start, he had been fascinated by Xing Yingzhuo’s mysterious and dangerous aura, which led him onto this irreversible path, gradually drifting away from the ordinary life of the masses.
In fact, Sheng Zhao had secretly wondered whether he was acting impulsively, whether he was determined to go further down this path, whether… he was already prepared to overturn his previous life.
At this moment, all those hesitations disappeared in an instant, and his mind was left with only one thought.
—No problem, I’ve made up my mind!
After all, even if Xing Yingzhuo did something frightening at the drop of a hat, Sheng Zhao’s first reaction wouldn’t be to scold him, but to think “this is something Xing Yingzhuo could do.”
Gritting his teeth, Sheng Zhao forcibly ignored the sensation of falling and leaned against Xing Yingzhuo’s shoulder in this position, softly asking, “Do you remember what I casually said?”
“Casually?” Xing Yingzhuo chuckled, mercilessly exposing him, “Since you confessed to me, you’ve mentioned wanting to fly to the sky more than three times. If that’s considered ‘casual,’ then your memory is indeed terrible.”
Sheng Zhao: “…”
His inner edgy spirit was shattered by Xing Yingzhuo’s one finger. Annoyed and embarrassed, Sheng Zhao instinctively wanted to cover his mouth, but he didn’t dare to let go of the hand around Xing Yingzhuo’s neck. He could only grit his teeth and offer himself up, choosing a method of injuring the enemy while sacrificing himself.
Xing Yingzhuo, always accepting of Sheng Zhao’s proactive behavior, even had a mischievous streak. When his tongue pried open Sheng Zhao’s teeth, he deliberately relaxed his grip, causing both of them to fall further.
Sheng Zhao indeed felt nervous for a moment, subconsciously tightening his arms around Xing Yingzhuo’s arms. He willingly threw himself into the trap, allowing himself to be completely taken advantage of.
“Is this entertaining me!” After a while, Sheng Zhao accused with reddened ears, “You’re clearly only entertaining yourself, aren’t you!”
Xing Yingzhuo chuckled quietly, holding him tightly and lifting him up.
Sheng Zhao’s behavior of “feeding the snake” obviously pleased this big monster. So he was in a very good mood and wiped off a little moisture from the corner of Sheng Zhao’s lips with his thumb, and kindly reminded him, “Okay, hold on tight—”
Before he could finish his sentence, he had already turned back into that beautiful big snake.
Xing Yingzhuo was too dignified to let himself be ridden by others, so he only wrapped Sheng Zhao with his snake body. But Xing Yingzhuo was sharp-tongued but softhearted, and after transforming, he was even more considerate than when he was human. Not only did he hold Sheng Zhao tightly, but he even wrapped an extra layer around his waist and thighs to avoid causing him discomfort.
However, for some reason, he still intentionally controlled the size of his original form. Looking down, Sheng Zhao saw that the snake was only about ten meters long and not much thicker than his own thigh.
Wrapped up in his body, Sheng Zhao essentially lay on top of Xing Yingzhuo, finding support all over his body. The fear of not having solid ground beneath his feet diminished considerably. Curiously, he looked down at the cloud-covered mountainside below, feeling a wave of relief as he exhaled deeply, feeling refreshed and exhilarated.
This experience could be boasted about for a lifetime.
It seemed that Xing Yingzhuo had indeed been infected by Sheng Zhao’s mood, and he himself was in a good mood. He even had a subtle desire to show off, ignoring Sheng Zhao’s orders without caring, generously satisfying Sheng’s need for directed play.
Sheng Zhao’s hair was disheveled by the wind, but his enthusiasm remained undiminished. Although Xing Yingzhuo had issued a stern warning earlier, Sheng Zhao didn’t feel a chill even when they reached the sky.
Apart from feeling a bit cold due to the wind, Sheng Zhao was protected by Xing Yingzhuo for the most part, and he didn’t suffer much.
Excited for new experiences, Xing Yingzhuo himself was also someone who disregarded everything when he played around. He didn’t know how many years it had been since he had played so carefreely in the clouds. With the emotions of the snake surging, he was practically equal to Sheng Zhao.
They played in the sky for more than twenty minutes before Xing Yingzhu finally turned his head, smiling as he glanced at Sheng Zhao.
Before Sheng Zhao could figure out the meaning behind his gaze, he suddenly felt the force beneath him disappear, and he plummeted downwards at a rapid pace!
Sheng Zhao’s heart initially jumped to his throat, but then he realized that Xing Yingzhu hadn’t let go of him; they were falling together.
It was somewhat amusing; perhaps due to several life-saving favors in the past, Sheng Zhao’s trust in Xing Yingzhu had reached an almost absurd level. Even in this moment of danger, his first reaction wasn’t fear, but rather a thought of “What trick is he going to play now?”
The distance of several hundred meters seemed insignificant in free fall. Sheng Zhao only saw the scenery on either side of him rapidly passing by, with the blue sky above remaining unchanged. As they approached the halfway point, a hawk even flew past them.
As they neared the ground, Xing Yingzhu slowed down their descent. Sheng Zhao felt a momentary tug as Xing Yingzhu grabbed him, but then they both landed with a splash into the water.
Sheng Zhao hadn’t considered Xing Yingzhu’s weight, but falling from such a height into a mountain pool would create a significant splash regardless. Fortunately, Xing Yingzhu had slowed their descent, preventing them from breaking through the bottom of the pool.
Once in the water, Xing Yingzhu released Sheng Zhao. Splashed with water, Sheng Zhao coughed and sputtered, instinctively thrashing in the water. But since he didn’t know how to swim, he began to sink.
Luckily, Xing Yingzhu didn’t keep him waiting long. Soon, his tail wrapped around Sheng Zhao’s waist, effortlessly pulling him to the shore.
Sheng Zhao was like a fish caught by Xing Yingzhu, pressed against the shore with his upper body wet and his lower body still submerged.
Not far away, the deafening sound of rushing water echoed. Sheng Zhao reluctantly opened his eyes, looking through a thin mist to see their current situation.
It turned out that Xing Yingzhu had brought them into the deep pool below the waterfall.
Sheng Zhao, still groggy, didn’t understand what Xing Yingzhu was up to. Just as he was about to get up and ask, he felt a strong force on his shoulder—Xing Yingzhu once again pressed him down onto the shore, preventing him from getting up.
This time, Sheng Zhao was sure it was intentional.
Xing Yingzhu remained in his original form, only slightly larger than before, with scales glistening with water droplets. Affectionately, he approached Sheng Zhao from behind, pressing against his back.
The sensation of scales against his skin made Sheng Zhao itch. Chuckling, he shrugged his shoulders and asked softly, “Is it okay to be so conspicuous in someone else’s territory?”
The great serpent wriggled its body and turned its head to look at Sheng Zhao, disdainfully sticking out its tongue, saying, “Who dares to question me?”
Indeed, thought Sheng Zhao, as long as I don’t ask.
The climate on Mount Longhu was mild, even when submerged in water, there was no bone-chilling discomfort. Having just settled down from the extreme excitement earlier, Sheng Zhao’s heart was still pounding in his chest, but his limbs felt weak.
So he simply lay there, lazily wiping away water droplets from his face, and stretching his arms out to lean against Xing Yingzhu’s body, casually running his fingers over the scales.
“Why do I like you so much?” Sheng Zhao sighed as if speaking to himself, “What have you done to me?”
Xing Yingzhu squinted his eyes and snorted softly, “Smooth talker.”
Sheng Zhao knew Xing Yingzhu well enough to understand that despite his sarcastic words, he might be secretly pleased. Xing Yingzhu had indeed surprised him today, taking him for a thrilling flight and showing concern for his seemingly insignificant “small wishes.”
“No, really,” Sheng Zhao said sincerely, “I feel like you’ve given me some kind of potion.”
Wanting to hear a few more compliments, Xing Yingzhu asked, “…”
Just looking at the big snake’s head, Sheng Zhao could imagine how speechless Xing Yingzhu must be feeling right now. He couldn’t help but chuckle and hugged Xing Yingzhu’s neck, giving him a kiss.
“Just teasing you,” Sheng Zhao whispered, “I really, really like you.”
Xing Yingzhu didn’t say anything, but the tip of his tail moved slightly, secretly hooking Sheng Zhao’s ankle underwater.
