Live For You

Moonlit: Updates for this series will be 1 chapter per day for now. I’ll increase it once I finish one of the other three series I’m working on.

Volume 3: Deep Blue Sea

If immortality is merely an illusion, then I am willing to define immortality as being with you.

As he looked at the young man before him, whose expression was calm with a faint smile yet filled with utmost seriousness, Ye Jian’s heart surged like a stormy sea, unable to find peace. At that moment, Ye Jian suddenly recalled a saying he once scoffed at: “I must have saved the world in a previous life to earn your favor in this one.”

Ye Jian suddenly found it hard to comprehend just how lucky he was—to have a fluffy little creature fall into his home and how much more fortunate he was to have quietly encountered this moment in “Winter’s End”. If such luck were to be missed due to his own cowardly hesitation, would he ever be blessed again in this life? Ye Jian could convince himself that even if he missed this opportunity, his life would still be wonderful, but he couldn’t assure himself that there would be another encounter awaiting him.

Slowly raising his hand, a verdant light shimmered at his fingertips. As their two slender hands met with fingers touching, circles of gentle, crystalline green light spread out from their fingertips, eventually forming a small array pattern between them. Once the array pattern was complete, the green light dispersed like sand in mid-air. Although the green glow was no longer visible to their eyes, their souls had been etched with an unbreakable vow to support each other through life and death, leaving no room for retreat.

“Teach me cultivation. I want to achieve immortality for you.” Ye Jian’s eyes were slightly wet. Under the reflection of the azure sea’s light, his expressionless face softened. The sharpness between his brows was smoothed by tenderness. When one encounters gentleness, it naturally gives birth to tender feelings.

“Alright.” Shu Xun nodded lightly. In each other’s eyes, they saw unwavering determination, regardless of whether the final outcome would be success or failure; they would stand by each other, supporting one another for eternity.

Not far from them, Meng Muyu and the others, who had been quietly observing the developments, went from initial awkwardness to silent shock. In this era of advanced technology, faith and emotions seemed to weaken with the progress of science. How many feelings remained as calm, warm, yet resolutely determined as those before them? Even as mere onlookers, their hearts seemed to beat in sync with the scene.

Gray lowered his eyelids. It was unclear what the sight before him reminded him of, but there was a hint of understanding in his eyes, though it was as if nothing existed there. However, the smile on the young man’s lips could no longer be hidden. The once unremarkable youth became stunningly beautiful in that moment, like a butterfly newly emerged from its cocoon spreading its wings to fly. Yet this smile was fleeting, disappearing in an instant. No one noticed it as all attention was focused on Shu Xun and Ye Jian.

Meng Muyu’s thoughts were a tangled mess, his eyes flickering with uncertainty. As he watched the scene before him, for some reason, the image that floated into his mind was that of Ling Yang—the little mermaid straining to arch his tail into a circular shape, the clever little mermaid sitting by the edge of a pot trying to fish, laughing wildly while slapping his shoulder with his tail… Meng Muyu instinctively shook his head hard, trying to dispel these images from his mind.

Lie Yang, on the other hand, had clear eyes filled with intense emotion; it was obvious that a certain butterfly was eager to fall in love. Di Lan Shu stood quietly, his lips curling into a faint smile without him realizing it.

Finally, it was Nuan Dong’s deep sigh that broke the silence. On his nearly perfect face was an undeniable expression of disappointment and regret. “I have immortality. I have power. Yet, I lack both fate and fortune.”

Lan Yang, perched on Lie Yang’s shoulder, responded with little tact, “Generally speaking, the probability of love at first sight is directly proportional to appearance. So what you’re missing isn’t fate or fortune, but true feelings.”

Hearing Lan Yang’s words, Nuan Dong’s warm smile remained unchanged, and his voice was still gentle. “Indeed.  Even I don’t believe in love at first sight.”

As they looked at Nuan Dong, the group found it difficult to discern whether his words were sincere or not. Lan Yang, lazily grooming his antennae, said nothing more.

Just as the quiet moment settled in, the light from the azure seawater suddenly intensified. The tear-like beads, scattered and floating like stars in the water, burst into dazzling brilliance in an instant. From the surface, they rapidly transformed into blue star sand, further refining into radiant particles that lingered for a long time, layer by layer, spreading, blooming, and fading, their glow enduring.

The already bright azure sea suddenly blossomed with countless blue flowers, their beauty captivating as they floated in the water. The intense light created a shimmering blue veil across the water, gently swaying with the waves, stretching from the surface to the abyss below. It was a breathtaking sight as if a delicate blue curtain had been draped across the entire ocean. The entire sea was transformed into a picture-perfect scene, with the small flying vessels moving through it seeming so insignificant, as if they had ventured beyond the universe, into a realm of ethereal beauty, illusion, and infinity.

In this final moment, the last battle began under this extravagantly beautiful opening.

The azure tears suddenly exploded with immense vitality and pure energy, filling the entire world with their surging power. At the same time, the sky cracked, and the atmosphere began to slowly descend at a pace visible to the naked eye. As the sky pressed lower and lower, the already abundant energy of the world was compressed to yet another extreme. Gravity intensified wildly, forcing the flying vessels to increase their speed once more. As they burst through the turbulent waves, they saw that the previously submerged continent was once again slowly rising. It was the Spirit Tides clan making a desperate effort to lift the continent back above the surface of the sea!

After the sea had swallowed the continent, the tears of the Spirit Tides clan, filled with vitality and energy, were swept onto the land. As these tears transformed into energy, the continent began to rise once more. When the land re-emerged from the water, everyone could see that a layer of emerald-green barrier had formed above the previously submerged continent. The color was strikingly familiar—it was the color of Xuanqiu and the three-leaf clover. It became clear that the so-called guardianship extended far beyond merely protecting a single race; it encompassed the entire world. When the continent was engulfed by the sea, the wings of the sky, along with the wood spirits, created a temporary sky to shield the living beings of the continent from death. Once the tears had settled and the continent floated back to the surface, it once again saw the light of day.

On the continent and within the ocean, all living beings began a frenzy of evolution. Nourished by pure spiritual energy, they pushed themselves to their limits, breaking through their own boundaries. Various roars and cries echoed throughout the world, nearly drowning out the rumbling thunder. The entire world—from the sky to the land, from the ocean to the seafloor—entered a delicate state of tension, where no one dared to breathe too loudly, fearing they might disturb this critical moment of evolution.

Beasts, birds, fish, and even trees and grass were continuously strengthening their bodies and spiritual energy under the influence of the Spirit Tides’ tears and compressed spiritual power. Shu Xun could even vaguely see the giant tiger they had once encountered, the king of the jungle, now running across the continent.

As the flying vessel soared higher, the view below became more expansive, revealing the majestic ocean and the vast, solid land.

Suddenly, a different kind of light emerged from the azure sea—a vibrant green glow. This green light grew from faint to strong, from small to immense, radiating outwards from a single blade of grass at its center, sending ripples of green waves across the sea. It was as if a green pearl was born within the blue expanse, rapidly growing—not in size, but in spiritual energy. The world’s consciousness had reached an extreme level of spiritual power, and for Leng Bei to merge with it, he too had to attain a corresponding height.

The green light became brighter and purer. Soon, from above, it appeared almost tangible, fresh, and vivid. Eventually, the green color coalesced into an entire sea, where every drop of water was a concentrated essence, teeming with vitality that even Shu Xun and the others, high in the sky, could easily perceive.

The flying vessel had reached the edge of the atmosphere, where it was enveloped in lightning. Continuing the flight risked being struck by the ever-flashing web of lightning, so final adjustments were being made. Meanwhile, the world’s consciousness seemed to have finally relinquished its stubbornness and began to merge with Leng Bei. Above the tiny blade of grass, a faint purple light started to gather, growing from a soft hue to an intense glow. This purple light, though brilliant, was not blinding; instead, it exuded a welcoming and inclusive warmth—the color of this world’s spiritual energy.

As the purple light reached its peak intensity, the seabed at the bottom of the deep sea, at the edge of the abyss, suddenly cracked. The fissures spread rapidly, deepening as they went. The continent collapsed, starting a chain reaction as it plummeted towards the black center of the planet. As Shu Xun had suspected, a black hole had formed at the planet’s core, its immense gravity mercilessly swallowing everything that fell into it—be it land or seawater—leaving no trace behind.

At the very moment the seabed continent collapsed, the weakened mental restraints, due to the fusion with Leng Bei, finally gave the invaders a slim chance of survival. Over the centuries, countless invaders had perished in captivity, many of them consumed by the black hole before they could resist. Yet, some invaders, driven by an unknown obsession, had managed to endure until now. In the instant when the restraints were no longer sufficient to hold them, they broke through the encirclement of the giant sea serpent and sped towards the surface of the sea.

However, the seawater had long been filled with traps and ambushes. The creatures, who had been overloading their evolution until now, had waited far too long for this day. A frenzied battle unfolded within the vast and boundless ocean—a war of vengeance that had been suppressed for centuries. With the nourishment of abundant spiritual energy and vitality, combined with their overwhelming numbers, the once-mighty invaders, who had been worn down to this point, could no longer withstand the assault. Even those who managed to escape the ocean in desperation found no respite. On the surface, on the land, and in the skies above, countless beings who had already evolved stood ready, waiting for their moment. Even a single blade of seaweed in the water fought fiercely to entangle the invaders’ hands and feet. With such unwavering determination, how could the invaders possibly escape?
