Jiang Tang hadn’t slept for a long time, and he wouldn’t feel sleepy even if he didn’t sleep. But he was an omega after all, and physical fatigue was unavoidable.
It was very troublesome to lie down and then stand up, so Jiang Tang sat in the wheelchair. The cup in his hand was empty, but he did not put it down. He looked as dull and lifeless as a puppet.
There was a roar of an engine coming from downstairs. Jiang Tang seemed to be suddenly endowed with a soul. His wheelchair rolled quickly across the floor and came to the window. There was a hope in his eyes that he himself did not even notice.
The car that was slowly approaching was not Lu Yinghuai’s car.
The car was about to stop, and before the driver had time to go around to the other side and open the door, the person in the back seat got out by himself.
From a distance, the man’s features were exactly the same as Lu Yinghuai’s. Time seemed to have left no traces on the man, and even in middle age, he still had an upright posture.
The man walked into the villa angrily, his hawk-like eyes roaming around the living room, finally settling on Uncle Chen: “Where is he?”
Uncle Chen stood aside respectfully, with a flattering look on his face: “He’s upstairs.”
Lu Bufan sat down on the sofa: “Call him down.”
“Yes, Mr. Lu.”
Uncle Chen strode upstairs, and without even knocking on the door, he pushed it open: “Boss Lu is here, why are you…”
There was no one in the room.
Uncle Chen stood there in a daze, looking at the empty, clean and deserted room.
“What’s going on?”
Lu Bufan came up at some point.
“He… doesn’t seem to be here?”
Lu Bufan narrowed his eyes and stared at the guest bedroom for a few seconds, with some guesses in his mind.
Just as he thought.
The door of the master bedroom next to him opened, and Jiang Tang controlled the wheelchair and came out.
Lu Bufan was also an Alpha, with a high pheromone level. He was still handsome at the age of 45 and was about 70% similar to Lu Yinghuai.
He looked at Jiang Tang scrutinizingly: “You are very capable.”
Jiang Tang was sitting in a wheelchair and had to look up to look him in the eyes. There was no trace of timidity in his eyes.
“Make an offer,” Lu Bufan said, “leave Lu Yinghuai.”
The melodramatic drama that Li’s mother loved to watch happened to him, but Jiang Tang remained silent.
“You are still young, so don’t be too greedy.”
The door downstairs was violently pushed open again.
Lu Yinghuai knew what was going on when he looked at the bodyguards in the living room and then at the stairs. He heard this as he took a few steps up to the second floor.
“Father!”
He walked up to Jiang Tang and squatted down: “Did he bully you?”
Jiang Tang shook his head.
“You’re back just in time,” Lu Bufan said, “Come downstairs, let’s talk.”
“Don’t be afraid, Tang Tang. With me here, they won’t dare to do anything to you.”
Jiang Tang looked at him, his eyes clear and his voice gentle: “Mr. Lu…”
Lu Yinghuai’s heart softened again: “Tang Tang.”
“Does your wound still hurt?”
The sudden question caught Lu Yinghuai off guard. No one had ever asked him this question in all these years. At this moment, he was afraid that Lu Bufan would scare Jiang Tang, but Jiang Tang was only concerned about him.
“It’s already healed.”
Jiang Tang nodded, seeming relieved.
“But it still hurts a little,” Lu Yinghuai said, “I’ll come up later and Tang Tang will blow it for me again, okay?”
Jiang Tang didn’t realize that Lu Yinghuai was being a hooligan, so he responded obediently: “Okay.”
Lu Bufan looked at Lu Yinghuai who came downstairs and said, “Send him away.”
“Impossible.”
The two men confronted each other for a few seconds, with a faint smell of gunpowder in the air.
“You were angry that day, so it’s okay to do something out of line,” Lu Bufan said calmly, “Now that the Yao family has apologised, there’s no need for you to act like a child again.”
“The Yao family’s apology has nothing to do with me,” Lu Yinghuai sat on the sofa with a dignified attitude, “I married Jiang Tang not because I was throwing a tantrum, it’s because I like him.”
“Like?” Lu Bufan laughed sarcastically, “You are an S-level Alpha, and you are not born with emotions like ordinary people. How sincere can your like be?”
“This is not something father should worry about,” Lu Yinghuai countered, “It’s father who has no emotions, not me.”
Lu Bufan seemed to choke up for a moment: “I know you are still upset about your dad’s matter.”
“It’s not related to my dad’s business.”
A complex emotion flashed across Lu Bufan’s face, but quickly returned to an expressionless look: “No matter what, I don’t agree with you and the boy from the Jiang family. You are an S-level Alpha, and even if your Omega is not the kid from the Yao family, at least he must be a healthy person!”
“He’s crippled and I’m disabled, we’re both imperfect, so we’re a good match, aren’t we?” Lu Yinghuai laughed sarcastically, “If you like someone who’s healthy, then go find one yourself. Just make sure Xie Yisi agrees.”
“He is your elder!”
The room was filled with the bitter smell of tobacco.
Lu Bufan’s pheromones spread very quickly, and the smell of tobacco spread to the second floor and entered the master bedroom through the gap in the door that was not closed tightly.
Jiang Tang felt as if an invisible hand was strangling his throat. His breathing became extremely difficult and he couldn’t move at all.
This pheromone was clearly an A-grade one.
High-level pheromones could not only easily harm an ordinary Omega, but could also seriously injure an Alpha whose pheromone level was lower than his.
After Lu Yinghuai’s gland was injured, he was unable to control pheromones at all, let alone resist attacks.
Jiang Tang endured the pain in the back of his neck as if it was being cut by a knife and struggled to move out of the master bedroom.
He couldn’t let Lu Yinghuai get hurt!
“Stop!”
As Jiang Tang made a sound, the pheromones in the air began to change.
The lemon-scented scent of the Douglas Fir tree swept over, easily covering Lu Bufan’s pheromones, with a strong and thorny fragrance.
