Day 10 of Provoking
When the program team noticed that the situation on this side was a bit off, the director ran over to act as the mediator. After he persuaded Song Ji-Jae, he brought the latter aside to treat the mosquito bites.
Jian Suizhi found that there seemed to be something fishy, so he walked to Jiang Cheng’s side and whispered, “What’s the situation?”
“Nothing.” Jiang Cheng didn’t want to say anything more on the matter, and motioned to the “seafood mystery box” in his hand. “Let’s have breakfast.”
Huang Daheng’s attention was instantly drawn to the seafood in Jiang Cheng’s hand, and he exhaled softly, “Did you go rob the program team?!”
Jiang Cheng was amused. “I was afraid the program team wouldn’t prepare breakfast for us, so I took advantage of the low tide to go pick up some seafood. These should be enough for breakfast, or at least to pad our stomach.”
“We all have a part?!” Su Nuannuan came over and saw Jiang Cheng nod. She made a heart shape with her hands and said to Jiang Cheng, “Warm guy!” (T/N: Meticulous and considerate towards family/partners/friends)
Huang Daheng looked at the director and said in a feigned bitter hatred, “Look at what you’re forcing the child into! Making him get up at low tide to pick up seafood!”
Jiang Cheng was once again amused. He handed the bottle to Huang Daheng, “Then could I trouble Teacher Huang to cook these things?”
“No problem, leave it to me!” Huang Daheng slapped his own chest confidently.
By the time the aroma of the steamed seafood wafted out, the director had finally placated Song Ji-Jae with great difficulty.
He ran out and said, “Good morning, everyone! Right now, it’s 9 o’clock in the morning, and our live broadcast room has been opened exactly on time! Let’s greet the audience who joined us!”
Huang Daheng applauded, “Good morning, good morning! Let me show everyone what our Teacher Jiang picked up early in the morning. It smells so good that the greedy children next door are crying!” (T/N: Not literally, just a saying to show that the food is + smells delicious)
[Morning!! I’m here!]
[Wuwuwu my daughter looks so pretty without makeup!! Nuannuan is so cute!]
[God Jian’s face value is still very high!]
[I’m speechless. When I saw Jiang Cheng in the background, I even thought that he looks much better without makeup. What’s going on?]
[It’s so funny, Jiang Xinghao’s makeup really doesn’t seem compatible with the crowd]
[What thing? I feel like a lot has happened without my knowledge. Teacher Jiang? Jiang Cheng? Going to pick up seafood?]
[Wah, there are crabs and an octopus! This is a seafood feast for breakfast!]
[How did Jiang Cheng get it? Did he do a task in exchange?]
[Seems like we have to wait until the program team releases the full episode]
“Releasing today’s mission!” The director held up a small megaphone and spoke. The five guests, as well as Song Ji-Jae who had a stiff face, all gathered over. “Asking the guests to look for a source of freshwater! Lesson one of our little wilderness class: freshwater is indispensable, so everyone shouldn’t waste time and hurry up!”
“Also! Requesting Teacher Jiang to accept today’s little Hi Wilderness random task!” Just when everyone was planning to leave, the director brought out the megaphone again.
Jiang Cheng turned around in a puzzled manner and asked, “Why is it me?”
“Because Teacher Jiang was the first one to get up among the five guests, triggering the early bird challenge task.” The director smiled as he explained. “Completing the mission will give you the chance to pick a prop of your choice from our little wilderness store, oh!”
“What’s the challenge?” Jiang Cheng asked.
“Bringing forward the early bird task mystery box! Requesting Teacher Jiang to randomly draw from the task mystery box!” The director immediately brought out a mystery box.
Jiang Cheng complied and put his hand inside before taking out a painted egg from the box. After opening it, there was a sheet of paper—
“Please share the first picture of the photo album on your phone!” The director blinked as he read out the task requirement. “It’s a very personal task. Teacher Jiang, are you willing to accept it?”
The several guests were also curious and came over to take a look, but nobody would have expected that the first picture on Jiang Cheng’s phone would actually be a photo of Jiang Xinghao’s bare face!
“Yes,” Jiang Cheng readily agreed. He was thinking what kind of task challenge it would be. Wasn’t this simply a steal?
The cameraman immediately took a close-up of Jiang Cheng’s phone, showing Jiang Cheng clicking on the photo album, then on the first picture…
The director “huh”-ed. “This is…”
Jiang Cheng stopped moving. He had already forgotten what the last picture he had taken with his phone was, and it was only now that he remembered.
Jiang Xinghao’s mind buzzed, and he suddenly reacted and came over.
It was that same photo that Jiang Cheng had suddenly taken of him when he went to the latter’s house before! Jiang Cheng actually didn’t delete it! For a moment, the crowd fell into absolute silence. Jiang Xinghao’s face turned from blue to red, then from red to white, and he quickly became furious.
After a while, Huang Daheng coughed lightly and squeezed out a sentence, “Is this Xingxing’s bare face? It’s clean and tidy, and the aura is very much like the neighbor next door!” (T/N: Basically casual and laid back)
Su Nuannuan also slowly nodded her head and said dryly, “It really has a different feeling.”
Jian Suizhi didn’t say anything. Most of the people who could enter the entertainment industry all had good foundations, and they could look good without makeup. However, this was the first time he saw someone like Jiang Xinghao, who could look so drastically different after removing makeup. He could only say that the makeup artist’s skills were extremely good.
[This is Jiang Xinghao????]
[F*ck f*ck what the f*ck!! Our variety show live broadcast will definitely blow up!! This is the first time we’re seeing Jiang Xinghao’s bare face!!!]
[…Help, I really didn’t recognise him]
[This, such an ordinary and unremarkable person? How did he become popular? I don’t understand]
[Hahahaha, quickly go check Jiang Xinghao’s hot topic, Xingchen-jiejie, a fan of his face, is crying and wants to run away!]
The director’s eyes brightened. He didn’t expect that it would be a picture with that kind of meaning, this was simply a godsend for their variety show!
“I’m quite curious about what kind of situation Teacher Jiang was in to take such a picture!” The director looked at Jiang Cheng with his eyes lit up brightly, hoping that Jiang Cheng would reveal more explosive materials.
Jiang Cheng took back his phone, and when he heard the director’s words, he asked, “Isn’t the task challenge just to let you see a photo? I don’t have to answer this question, right?”
“If you answer, I’ll let you choose two props!” The director had no principles.
[Laughing to death, the director’s intention to eat melons is way too obvious!]
[To tell you the truth, I also want to know]
[Well-behaved but farts] (T/N: Means look good/obedient on the surface but can end up doing something surprising)
When Jiang Cheng heard this, he immediately said, “Oh, I just conveniently took a picture when he came to my house.”
“…” The director felt that he had been fooled, and also wasted a prop.
“Wasn’t the picture taken quite well?” Jiang Cheng asked the others. Although it didn’t look like a fully made-up Jiang Xinghao, but when compared to his bare face, Jiang Cheng really didn’t take a picture that wasn’t true to the original!
Although he said this, Jiang Cheng was still a bit worried about his job. Would Wang Chen deduct his salary?
“Not bad, not bad!” Huang Daheng took over the conversation and immediately said. He was too embarrassed to glance at Jiang Xinghao from the corner of his eyes, whose face was as black as the bottom of a pot.
Su Nuannuan also nodded, and racked her brains before saying, “Teacher Jiang’s hands are really steady, and the photo was taken especially clearly.”
Jian Suizhi paused, and in order to fit in, he said, “Very good, the angle at which the photo was taken is really bold.”
Jiang Xinghao wanted to pinch himself again. Why were they all helping Jiang Cheng one by one?! Anyone with a discerning eye could see that Jiang Cheng was intentionally trying to blacken him!!
[I’m so angry, it’s obvious that Jiang Cheng is trying to make his former teammate suffer, yet the other guests are actually still trying to protect Jiang Cheng? Are they teaming up?]
[I feel distressed for my family’s gege, take him away]
[We won’t be making an appointment to watch this trash variety show anymore, it’s just a blood sucker who wants to crazily suck all of our family’s gege’s blood!] (T/N: Wants to take advantage of him/his popularity)
After Jiang Cheng heard the affirmation from Huang Daheng and the others, he felt slightly relieved, and turned to the director to confirm. “Then the task challenge is completed? This won’t affect the contract I signed with the program team, right? Oh, can this question be asked directly?”
“This naturally can’t be regarded as a breach of contract! The task challenge has been completed, Teacher Jiang, please choose the props you want!” The director smiled very happily and didn’t understand Jiang Cheng’s worries at all. In fact, he even wanted to give the other a big kiss!
Jiang Cheng completely set his mind at ease after hearing the director’s confirmation. Since the director said it wasn’t a breach of contract, he could still keep his job.
He walked to the “little wilderness store” and swept a glance at the various props on the shelves.
He originally thought that the program team would release all the props, but unexpectedly, the selection was still from the same list as the previous one for the live broadcast room’s accumulated popularity.
Finding a freshwater source was a segment that had long been arranged by the program team, and the location of freshwater sources on the island that had been found by the staff members in advance was even in Song Ji-Jae’s hand.
For this reason, Jiang Cheng didn’t have many choices, and chose a bundle of thick ropes, as well as… tapes.
When the director saw this, he couldn’t help but confirm once again, “Teacher Jiang, are you really certain you want to pick the ropes and… tapes?”
The tapes were placed on the shelves by the staff completely for the sake of making up the numbers!!
Jiang Cheng nodded in affirmation, and said in a regretful tone, “The others are straight up useless.”
The director, “…” I still think that that useless flashlight has more uses than your broken tapes!
After the props were chosen, their wilderness team set off again.
Song Ji-Jae had adjusted his mentality and barely managed to continue walking calmly.
Even though he didn’t have a compass or a map, he still had a rough direction in mind. It was much better compared to the guests who were completely ignorant.
At 10 o’clock in the morning, the sun above their heads had already started to become scorching. When they entered the forest, the suffocating and humid environment made them feel even more uncomfortable.
Song Ji-Jae said as he walked forward, “The island will be directly exposed to sunlight for as long as 12 hours, and there is a very high chance of getting a heatstroke in this kind of situation. When the percentage of water in the body drops by 2.5%, your stamina will decline by one-quarter. Therefore, the importance of timely replenishment is very high.”
After the translator interpreted this information, she couldn’t help curling her lips downwards. Did Song Ji-Jae think that she didn’t know about how he quietly recited from a book in his tent last night? She heard it all clearly!
Huang Daheng trailed behind Song Ji-Jae and, when he heard those words, he let out a stretched response, “Oh–——”
Honestly speaking, he didn’t feel anything at all about Song Ji-Jae’s scientific information. How would he know how much water his body had lost? And what did it mean for his body to lose one-quarter of his physical strength? He really couldn’t make sense of any of it…
He could only maintain an awkward smile on his face to be polite.
He turned to look at the others with a plea for help. This kind of heavy responsibility of warming up the atmosphere, he really couldn’t do it!
Upon seeing this, Jiang Cheng lazily used a simple language to “translate” the words. “The main gist is that it’ll be too late if you wait until you feel thirsty. Once you’re dehydrated, you’ll feel dizzy to the point you’d want to vomit. It’s equivalent to losing your ability to move.”
“So, once you’re stranded in the wild, you’ll have to find freshwater to replenish as soon as possible.”
“Oh!!!” Huang Daheng gave Jiang Cheng a thumbs up. It was still their Chinese people who spoke human language. “This is much easier to understand.”
Jiang Cheng smiled.
Song Ji-Jae caught sight of Huang Daheng and Jiang Cheng whispering to each other, so he asked the translator in a low voice.
The translator interpreted everything in full detail in Korean, and Song Ji-Jae frowned after he finished listening. Since they couldn’t understand what he said, they had to ask Jiang Cheng to explain? If they trusted Jiang Cheng that much, then why did they come to find him to be the team leader? To show how capable that man was? To use him as a stepping stone? He sneered, and the resentment from before when Jiang Cheng made a fool of him surged in his chest.
He turned to the side and spat, and relied on how the others couldn’t understand the language he spoke to whisper a few words as a way to vent: “What trash. In the end, they’re still a bunch of weak chickens and good-for-nothings who can’t do sh*t. They’re only worthy of eating chewed-up and spit-out food…” (T/N: Basically saying they’re all trash and don’t deserve anything good)
The translator’s expression instantly changed when she heard his words, and her breathing stagnated. However, she still remained silent and didn’t say anything.
Just when the translator thought that this matter would be over, she felt a sudden gust of wind blow past her cheeks, and soon after she heard Song Ji-Jae abruptly curse.
The translator looked over with a stupefied expression, and caught sight of Jiang Cheng pressing the man against a tree– his elbow was firmly held against Song Ji-Jae’s neck, exposing his vulnerable and weak point.
Song Ji-Jae subconsciously wanted to kick Jiang Cheng away, but who would’ve thought that Jiang Cheng seemed to have already expected this movement? He lifted his leg and pressed his knee against Song Ji-Jae’s legs, forcibly trapping them. Just those few seemingly simple movements unexpectedly made a fully grown strong man unable to move!
The other guests were all stunned when they saw this scene. Huang Daheng asked, “What happened?”
Jiang Cheng ignored the question, an ice-cold look in his eyes. With an almost freezing tone, Jiang Cheng looked at Song Ji-Jae and asked in Korean, “Trash? Say it again?”
Song Ji-Jae looked both flustered and stunned, and it was like his entire body had been plunged into an ice cellar. He had never expected that Jiang Cheng would suddenly act so violently, and much less that the other party could suppress him like this without giving him any chance to fight back!
Regardless of whether it was the reaction speed, the physical strength, or the technique, he seemed to be completely inferior to the other party?!
Song Ji-Jae met Jiang Cheng’s eyes. The sunlight was bright and distinct on the island, and from this angle, he could clearly see Jiang Cheng’s eyes. They weren’t actually pure black. The depths of his pupils were a moss green color, similar to thick, dark ink. Only when the light fell on them could the moss green color be perceived. Those eyes were like that of a wild wolf in the dark, easily making people feel alarmed and scared.
Song Ji-Jae unexpectedly felt a chill. The feeling Jiang Cheng gave him was even more dangerous than that of any large, aggressive wild beast.
He gritted his teeth hard, and after a long time, he forced out a sentence: “I’m sorry.”
“Say ‘I was wrong, I’m sorry’”. Jiang Cheng alternated between Korean and Chinese, his elbow not relaxing in the slightest, which made Song Ji-Jae’s face turn red.
Song Ji-Jae’s lips trembled. It wasn’t only from holding himself back, but also because of embarrassment. He slowly repeated again in Chinese, “I was wrong, I’m sorry.”
Jiang Cheng sneered, and pressed against Song Ji-Jae before warning again: “If you want to work in our country and earn our money, then you should honestly let me see your respect for us. Otherwise, just roll back to where you came from!”
He spoke in Korean, his voice hurried and low. Only Song Ji-Jae and the translator who were nearby could hear it clearly – and also the audience in Jiang Cheng’s live broadcast room, who were bewildered and instantly burst out!
With a face red from embarrassment, Song Ji-Jae nodded. “I understand.”
The translator was stunned – unexpectedly, Jiang Cheng really did know Korean! In fact, it wasn’t worse than her professional level and could even be considered perfect. Moreover, it was too cool!!! She thought she could only swallow her resentment, and didn’t expect that Jiang Cheng would directly take action like this…
Under the translator’s surprised, worshipping, as well as admiring gaze, Jiang Cheng let go. He turned around towards the staff members and several teammates who were completely at a loss and explained, “There was a small communication issue, but we already resolved it in a friendly way.”
“Isn’t that right, Team Leader Song Ji-Jae?” Jiang Cheng asked Song Ji-Jae with a slight tilt of his head.
The translator noticed that Jiang Cheng only spoke in Chinese and immediately interpreted his words in Korean.
Song Ji-Jae’s face was ashen as he took a deep breath, but he could only nod his head meekly. “Yes, we…did resolve it in a friendly way.”
[Friendly? Friendly?? I almost didn’t even recognize this word!]
[F*ck f*ck f*ck! There was almost a mishap in the live broadcast?!]
[Is there anyone who understood what Jiang Cheng said? I’m really, really curious!]
[Waiting for those in the live broadcast room… How are there only 30,000 sisters?? Maybe one among them knows Korean?]
[Jiang Cheng actually speaks Korean! So fierce, but I unexpectedly get the feeling that Jiang Cheng’s quite handsome?!]
[He unexpectedly made the team leader compromise so meekly? Now I’m even more curious!! Jiang Cheng should have something!! We’re just short of a translator!]
