PEU Chapter 7.1

"Please make your choice!" (1/2)

Day 7 of Provoking – Part 1

The program team was occupied with giving and helping the guests put on life jackets and protective gear.

Su Nuannuan and Huang Daheng sat on the small inflatable boat that was floating on the sea. This so-called means of transportation, which was a bit like a banana boat, was actually tied to the back of a speedboat. It was that kind of stimulation project.

Su Nuannuan was even more glad that Jiang Cheng lent her his windbreaker jacket. Otherwise, wouldn’t this trip make her eat the waves until she became silly?

Jian Suizhi and Jiang Xinghao would be surfing. Since Jiang Xinghao was a complete novice, it was necessary to provide training before they could carry on.

After half a day of tossing about, everything was finally ready – the inflatable boat was tied to the back of the speedboat used by the staff members while the surfboard would be tied to the back of the speedboat used by Jiang Cheng and the team leader.

The two people, Jiang Cheng and the team leader Song Ji-Jae, were asked to stay at the stern of the speedboat by the program team.

The PD in charge of filming cued to prompt the recording process: “We are about to set off! Does Teacher Jiang have anything to say to the two teachers who will be experiencing surfing?”

When Jiang Cheng heard those words, he thought for a moment before saying, “Then I have something to say to Jiang Xinghao.”

The cameraman PD was slightly disappointed, and he almost directly cued Jiang Cheng to make him say a few words to God Jian.

When Jiang Xinghao heard Jiang Cheng’s words, he thought the other party would want to exchange places with him – after all, Jian Suizhi was not even two metres away from him! Being this close, wasn’t he within reach!

Jiang Xinghao thought in his heart, if Jiang Cheng brought it up, he would consider agreeing.

Jiang Cheng slowly opened his mouth to say, “Wishing you good luck, oh.”

Jiang Xinghao, “…”

It’s okay even if you don’t say anything.

Jian Suizhi raised his brows slightly as he looked at Jiang Cheng, but the latter seemed to be treating him as a transparent person and turned a blind eye to him.

It was really interesting. Before they met, they were talked about from heaven to earth on the internet. Even if the other was bitten to death, he would still refuse to yield on the claim of being his fiancé. Yet when they met on the same variety show, he knew how to act to avoid suspicion?

He asked with interest, “Then do you not have anything you want to say to me?”

Jiang Cheng turned to look at Jian Suizhi with surprise, then said unhesitatingly, “No.”

Jian Suizhi, “…”

[Handsome guy, don’t take the initiative to get involved with him!! Don’t give him a chance!!]

[Was God Jian bewitched? Why would he suddenly be like this and take the initiative to cue Jiang Cheng?]

[Why is it Jiang Cheng instead who has an expression of “don’t come over here”!! Did you two have your souls swapped!!]

[I’m annoyed to death hearing you guys BB about Jiang Cheng everyday. If he’s not good, then I’ll trouble you to go to other people’s live broadcast rooms, okay? What are you looking for by squatting on Jiang Cheng’s side?]

[Looking for Jiang Cheng as a melon field]

[Laughing to death hahaha]

Separated by the live broadcast room, the Jiang family’s junior couldn’t help but glance at Jian Suizhi’s little uncle’s expression.

Jiang Chi hesitated for a moment before asking Jian Xingce, “Uncle Jian, uhm, does your nephew have any thoughts about Jiang Cheng?”

Jian Xingce’s expression remained unchanged. After taking a sip of wine, he said lightly, “No thoughts about Jiang Cheng.”

“Then he…”

Jian Xingce interrupted Jiang Chi’s words, “He’s just mean.”

When someone wants to get close to him, he doesn’t care, but when they don’t like him, he wants to get close to them. If that isn’t called being mean, then what is?

His line of sight fell on Jiang Cheng’s body, and for some reason, he thought of how the latter had clutched his sleeve that night with the rims of his eyes bright red.

He was certain that Jiang Cheng didn’t have the slightest thought about his nephew.

///

It was a good sunny day, with the wind and waves rising. Jiang Cheng’s slightly long hair was blown into a mess, and he had to squint just to watch Jiang Xinghao’s embarrassing posture on the surfboard for a few seconds.

With the wind blowing into his eyes, making it difficult to keep them open, he planned to go back into the cabin.

“Excuse me, Teacher Jiang, we’ll have to trouble you to stay on the deck for a little bit longer. We still need some more footage!” The PD in charge of Jiang Cheng’s filming hastily said after seeing his intention.

Jiang Cheng had to reluctantly retract his foot, saying helplessly, “Then could I trouble you to give me a rubber band?”

The cameraman complied and felt inside his pocket before taking out a rubber band. They would occasionally use rubber bands to tie props, so they were accustomed to preparing some to keep on themselves.

Jiang Cheng took it and muttered a word of thanks, then simply grabbed two handfuls of hair and tied it into a loose ponytail. His field of vision suddenly became much clearer.

[Suddenly discovered that after JC tied up his hair, he strangely looks like a fresh and sunny beauty?]

[+1 But once I recalled what he said before, I instantly lowered my head]

On the side, the team leader Song Ji-Jae turned to Jiang Cheng and looked at him up and down, then spoke to the translator for a period of time.

The translator interpreted it, “Team Leader Song asked you why you didn’t cut your hair short? He feels that this hairstyle… isn’t too convenient to move in, and isn’t suitable for this kind of program. The same goes for that lady.”

The translator paused for a second while interpreting, then continued tactfully.

When Jiang Cheng heard these words, he raised his brows slightly. “It’s a personal choice, and there’s nothing inconvenient about it. Of course, my hairstyle is because my agent didn’t give me permission to act.”

There were several female soldiers in the team he led in his previous life, some with short hair and some with long hair. Each one was heroic, capable, and satisfactory. The length of their hair didn’t affect them at all.

The translator selectively interpreted the second half of the sentence, then caught sight of the team leader shrugging his shoulders and whispering a few words.

“He said, okay then.” The translator forced a smile.

Jiang Cheng glanced at the team leader with a deep expression, then turned to the translator and said, “Thank you for your hard work.”

The translator was a bit surprised to receive Jiang Cheng’s reply, as if he understood her dilemma… as if he could understand her conversation with Song Ji-Jae.

However, she quickly got rid of this thought – according to what she knew, Jiang Cheng didn’t even finish university before leaving. How could it be possible for him to know and understand Korean?

Jiang Cheng really did understand what Song Ji-Jae had said.

In his previous life, there were all kinds of experiences in the international missions he carried out that required him to master many languages. Among them was precisely Korean.

What Song Ji-Jae had originally said was “this kind of long hairstyle makes you look like a woman, affecting your masculinity…” and a string of related “suggestions” afterwards.

The program had only just begun recording. Jiang Cheng didn’t want to trigger an internal conflict right at the beginning, so he didn’t feel like exposing it and just nodded lazily towards Song Ji-Jae’s translator. The topic was finally over.

With the sea breeze faintly scattering his slightly dull green, like the color of flax, semi-long hair, Jiang Cheng stood on the deck and leaned against the railing, looking as beautiful as a painting.

Only if he didn’t speak – the PD filming him felt this deeply.

In fact, Jiang Cheng remembered the request of his agent, Wang Chen. It seemed that the situation at present could use his praises, so –

“Your balance is pretty good! So impressive!” He praised in a loud voice.

As a result, as if in response, Jiang Xinghao fell into the splashing waves.

Jiang Cheng whispered, “Hiss, he can’t handle compliments too well.”

Another example: “Okay, okay, stay calm! Well done, you flew up! Are you going to pull a stunt of jumping in mid-air? Looking forward to it, oh!”

Jiang Xinghao was raised high into the air by the waves, then once again crashed into the splashing waves.

Jiang Cheng lowered his voice into a whisper and continued, “Oh, it seems that he doesn’t wish to perform. I overestimated him.”

The live broadcast room was simply about to explode into a complete mess. All of Jiang Xinghao’s fans barged into Jiang Cheng’s live broadcast room to ask –

[Speaking so sarcastically, do you treat your Xingchen-jiejie as a deaf person? Praising him openly while secretly stepping on him, are you a tea-making expert?]

[I just knew that it was impossible for JC to not make trouble, does he think that Xingxing has no fans?]

[You aren’t confident enough to tie God Jian for hype, so you just started to step on your former teammate?]

[Jiang Cheng is still good-looking, it’s just that he has a big mouth]

[Indeed. Me a second ago: Haah, the beauty with the long hair is really good-looking. Me the next second: Jiang Cheng, I’m begging you to speak less, is this xyxf still not enough hahahaha] [T/N: “bloody rain and foul wind” – used here to describe the scene/state after a big drama

The PD was able to monitor the situation in the barrage in real time. Seeing the barrage in the live broadcast room becoming unsightly before long, he couldn’t help reminding Jiang Cheng, “Teacher Jiang, we will be reaching the shore soon. Let me check on your lapel mic and see whether it is working normally or not first.”

Jiang Cheng nodded slightly, then paused for a moment. Two seconds later, he pointed to the small fur pompon that was pinned on his waist and underneath his collar, asking, “Is it this? The lapel mic?”

“That’s right,” The PD let out a sigh of relief. Teacher Jiang had finally noticed its presence.

He secretly reminded, “Our sound recording props are very good, and even the slightest chewing sound can be picked up in the live broadcast room.”

When Jiang Cheng heard those words, he slightly stiffened. Somewhat embarrassed, he looked at the PD for confirmation and asked in a slight whisper, “Is it really possible to hear the sound of chewing? Then what if we speak quietly like this?”

“Oh, it’s also possible,” The PD suppressed the urge to laugh and nodded seriously.

Jiang Cheng, “…”

Finished, he was finished. Would Wang Chen deduct his salary?

The change in Jiang Cheng’s expression was too obvious and too ridiculous, and the style of the live broadcast room was very quickly led astray by the passers-by. Jiang Xinghao’s fans could only vomit blood from anger.

– How hateful, how could there be such a pretentious person!
