SFL Chapter 66

Arc 5.10

Feng Yuning forced herself to suppress the smile that was about to form on her lips and modestly said, “Not worth mentioning, not worth mentioning.”

After all, the raw materials for glass are quite simple.

Just as Feng Yuning was about to subtly show off these things to the Long Queendom Prince, the repeated reminders from Feng Yuan kicked in. She managed to stop herself from mentioning them and awkwardly shifted the topic.

The Long Queendom prince, unaware of any change, continued to enthusiastically chat with Feng Yuning.

In the capital of Feng Queendom, where everything new and interesting was present, the sights were dazzling.

By the time they returned to the embassy in the evening, every servant behind the Prince was carrying a large amount of items. The Prince himself was in high spirits. As he prepared to open a bottle of plum-flavored perfume that Feng Yuning had specially gifted him, he was called away by the Seventh Princess.

The Prince frowned slightly but allowed his servants to sort his things first before going to meet his seventh sister.

“How was your day out?” the Seventh Princess asked gently.

She had never shown such concern for her younger brother before, which made the Prince feel both honored and uneasy.

— No good deed goes unpunished; there’s either a scheme or a theft behind it.

Although she was his sister, the Prince couldn’t help but suspect she had an ulterior motive.

Thinking this, he replied with a seemingly innocent face, “Sister, there are so many interesting things in Feng Queendom—mirrors, soap, and perfume that keeps its fragrance for a long time. I heard it’s made from countless flower petals. I bought a lot of it, planning to bring some back for my brothers who didn’t come. They’ll definitely like it.”

The Seventh Princess didn’t show impatience but focused on different details, asking about the prices of these items. She smiled and said, “Don’t worry, these things will definitely be included in the return gifts from Feng Queendom to our Long Queendom.”

What puzzled her was where these items had come from.

“I heard that there was a Feng Queendom woman accompanying you while you were out today. Do you know her background?” the Seventh Princess asked with a frown.

It was important for her brother not to be involved with other women at the moment.

The Prince did not conceal Feng Yuning’s identity, as it was only a matter of time before their relationship was discovered given their statuses.

When the Seventh Princess learned that it was Feng Yuning, the Princess Ning, accompanying her brother, she was not pleased but rather deeply unsettled. What if Feng Yuning’s approach was under the Empress’ instructions?

The Seventh Princess didn’t believe this was a mere coincidence. She advised the Prince to be cautious and subtly gather information from Feng Yuning. The Prince should discreetly approach Feng Yuning and extract useful information for the Long Queendom. At a critical moment, he might even be used to facilitate a marriage alliance with the Feng Queendom.

As she spoke, the Prince’s smile gradually faded. He wished to keep this trip to Feng Queendom simple, but it was clear that his sister and the Long Empress had other plans.

“I understand, Sister. I will do my best,” the Prince said obediently, recognizing that it was his fate.

He should be grateful that the person his sister wanted him to approach was not someone he disliked.

Meanwhile, Feng Yuning remained oblivious to these schemes. Neither Feng Yuan nor Mo Ziqing had mentioned any plans to her.

Mo Ziqing believed in the female protagonist’s ability to win hearts, considering she possessed many qualities that men in the female-dominated world most desired. Even Feng Yuan, in some respects, could not compare to Feng Yuning.

Of course, Feng Yuning also had noticeable flaws.

Mo Ziqing’s nature was not inclined towards sharing, and since Feng Yuning was surrounded by many people, Mo Ziqing remained unmoved.

In contrast, he was willing to overlook Feng Yuan’s minor flaws.

When Feng Yuan visited Mo Ziqing’s quarters and saw him unusually quiet, she was intrigued. She went over, hugged him, and asked, “You’re not feverish. Why are you so quiet today?”

Mo Ziqing blinked and replied, “I don’t know what’s happening. I just suddenly feel like being quiet.”

Seeing Mo Ziqing’s reaction, Feng Yuan felt a surge of affection. Just as she was preparing to playfully tease him, Mo Ziqing’s body instinctively pushed her away before his mind could fully catch up.

This was unprecedented, as Mo Ziqing had always been more enthusiastic about such matters than she was.

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?” Feng Yuan asked again as she leaned closer.

This time, her previous intentions were gone, and she successfully approached Mo Ziqing.

“I don’t know,” Mo Ziqing said, resting his forehead on Feng Yuan’s shoulder. Though he had not experienced it before, he had a vague sense of what might be happening.

Feng Yuan quickly called for the imperial physician. After a long examination, the physician finally relaxed his furrowed brows and confirmed, “Congratulations, Your Majesty and Your Highness. It appears that the Highness is with child.”

“Really?!” Feng Yuan exclaimed with delight.

Mo Ziqing felt a huge weight lift off his shoulders. After the physician’s words, he placed his hand on his abdomen, where a new life was beginning to develop.

In this female-dominated world, the male reproductive system is different from that in the real world. Men here can become pregnant due to their unique anatomy, which includes a womb. This is somewhat similar to how men in the outside world could become parents through artificial wombs. This inherent ability also means that men naturally have less physical strength compared to women, as a balance enforced by the natural order.

After the physician left, Feng Yuan could no longer contain her joy. She embraced Mo Ziqing and laughed, “We’re going to have a baby!”

“Yes, we’re going to have a baby,” Mo Ziqing replied with a smile.

Before long, they received news of Feng Jun arriving. “Father.”

The father and daughter exchanged looks of shared joy. Feng Jun smiled and said, “I’ve come to inform you of some things to be mindful of. I’ve also arranged for several experienced elders to assist and support Ziqing whenever needed.”

“Thank you, Father,” Mo Ziqing said with a smile.

Seeing that Mo Ziqing’s face was much cleaner than usual, Feng Jun wondered, “Why did you remove your makeup today, Ziqing?”

“Those things aren’t good for the fetus, so I stopped using them,” Mo Ziqing explained. Although the products he used were free of lead or mercury under his supervision, most were made from fresh flowers and herbs. To avoid any potential conflicts, Mo Ziqing chose not to use them during pregnancy.

Feng Jun nodded inwardly at Mo Ziqing’s care for the child. “As long as you’re mindful, that’s what matters. Even though Yuan loves you dearly, she can’t fully empathize with you in this matter.”

In the imperial palace, everyone knew of Feng Yuan’s favoritism towards Mo Ziqing. It was common knowledge, and only Feng Jun, as the Emperor and Mo Ziqing’s father, would dare to critique Feng Yuan’s actions.

With the pregnancy, Mo Ziqing decided to focus on the child and set aside other matters. The well-being of the baby took precedence over everything else.

To ensure Mo Ziqing could relax during the pregnancy, Feng Yuan arranged for more of Mo Ziqing’s family to accompany him in the palace.

This time, the Prime Minister brought Mo Zixian along. Compared to before Mo Ziqing entered the palace, Mo Zixian was now almost as tall as Mo Ziqing. Mo Ziqing’s height was considerable, surpassing most men in this female-dominated world, so Mo Zixian’s growth indicated she was maturing quickly.

As the Prime Minister chatted with Mo Ziqing about family matters, the conversation turned to Mo Zixian’s situation.

“I don’t know what’s happening lately. Your sister is nearing the age to be married, but we haven’t found a suitable match,” the Prime Minister said with concern.

Mo Zixian, the person in question, didn’t seem very interested in the topic. However, hearing the issue brought up repeatedly made her aware of the difficulties in finding a suitable spouse. She recalled what Mo Ziqing had once said to her and asked, “Big Brother, do you know why this is happening?”

The Prime Minister laughed at Mo Ziqing’s comment, “How could your elder brother possibly know?”

“Actually, I do know,” Mo Ziqing replied with certainty.

“Really?!” The Prime Minister was surprised.

“Do you know how many young men are currently in Princess Ning’s residence?” Mo Ziqing asked.

“I haven’t really paid attention to that,” the Prime Minister admitted, frowning.

The scandalous news about Princess Ning initially drew public attention, but over time, people became indifferent. The interest in Feng Yuning had waned as people grew numb to the sensationalism.

Feng Yuning’s attraction to handsome men wasn’t based on public interest, so he didn’t stop pursuing them even if public attention waned.

If it weren’t for his daughter’s marriage, the Prime Minister might not have noticed the issue. Hearing that many of the young men in Feng Yuning’s residence were well-matched with Mo Zixian, the Prime Minister was taken aback. “They could be legitimate husbands; why would they choose to be princes in Princess Ning’s residence? Isn’t this demeaning?” he was puzzled.

“Because they all believe that being a Prince in Princess Ning’s residence is far better than marrying a well-matched noble lady,” Mo Ziqing explained.

“How could that be?” The Prime Minister was incredulous but had to face the reality before him.

Feng Yuning was of noble status, gentle, and wealthy. Despite having many men, there was no concern about mistreatment or neglect; their lives were secure. Compared to the emotional, yet traditional noble ladies, the young men enjoyed a higher level of respect and care in Feng Yuning’s residence. The entire household treated them equally, providing excellent psychological and living conditions. Despite minor flaws, the overall treatment was so favorable that it overshadowed any shortcomings. Such exceptional treatment made the young men less interested in traditional noble matches.

The Prime Minister, after hearing this, felt a sense of disorientation. “If I were younger, I might have made the same choice as them…”

But now, he wasn’t looking for a spouse; he was concerned about finding a suitable husband for his daughter!
