RCQT Chapter 80

Online Game: Needlepoint Confrontation

Sweeping his gaze across the area, Chu Qianze tilted his head upward. Then, he waved in that direction, eliciting screams and cheers.

“It seems like it’s fully occupied,” he remarked to the person beside him, glancing sideways.

Zong Xinjue was also stunned by the scene; his eardrums were a bit numb. His eyes scanned the spectators’ stands in a circle. “It’s better than I imagined.”

“Welcome, everyone, to the live broadcast of the semi-finals of the league!” The host held the microphone, infusing the crowd with excitement through his tone.

This person is also familiar; he’s the one who hosted their first match. However, he now appears much more enthusiastic than back then.

“Taking the stage first is Team King! Team King may be a newcomer team, but thinking of them just like that would be a big mistake! Their strength is formidable, their coordination is seamless, and without exception, they’ve achieved victory from the first match until now. Can they maintain such an impressive record today?!”

The host looked at the two individuals, anticipation flickering in his eyes.

Ever since the first match, he had subconsciously kept an eye on these two, eager to see how their story would unfold. Unexpectedly, they had triumphed through each challenge, maintaining an undefeated record. Among those defeated by the duo was even a professional team—though not at the top level, their strength was commendable. That match turned out to be a surprising upset.

One couldn’t help but admit that, in the process of following their journey, he himself was on the verge of becoming a fan.

With a myriad of thoughts, as the on-site host, he had to maintain neutrality no matter how much he liked them.

Adhering to professional ethics, he swallowed back the effusive praise and began introducing another team.

“And King Team’s opponents this time also have an impressive background—”

But still, King seems more formidable!

“Alright, no time to waste, let the game begin!!”

The mechanical voice echoed as the big screen timely broadcasted the situation inside the arena.

At this moment, Ma Chun was in the venue, his gaze fixed on the center of the field. His seat was particularly advantageous, offering a broad view—this was a seat he had managed to secure with great difficulty.

Since the day he posted that recommendation, originally just wanting to share the treasure he’d discovered and boost the popularity of Team King’s fan circle, he never expected it to explode, burning fiercely beyond control.

He hadn’t even had the chance to savor the joy of fostering this community when it took off.

Though a bit melancholic, seeing Team King shining on the stage brought a sense of gratification.

As he watched the game begin, he was there, crazily screaming, “Come on!! Ahhh—”

“Jun Shang, Jun Shang, reigning supreme, unmatched in the world!”

The opposition was equally determined, with synchronized cheers and impeccably coordinated slogans. And what the heck, they even had banners?!

Ma Chun was truly impressed by this.

Helplessly, he had no choice but to raise his volume. Drawing a deep breath, resonating from the depths of his being, he summoned every ounce of energy, unleashing the passion of singing folk songs to chase after a girl. He began shouting and chanting.

Regretfully, he only wished he were a mage with sound propagation skills!

“King, come on!! You’ve got this!!” He was certain that he had involuntarily tightened his not-so-small belly.

Inside the arena, the two teams had already begun their clash.

At the very start, the opponent’s assassin had stealthily hidden, leaving no trace, while the boxer remained stationary.

Chu Qianze controlled the heavy sniper, taking a shot directly at the boxer.

Given the current situation, the assassin was highly likely to go for a sneak attack on Zong Xinjue. However, from Ma Chun’s god-like perspective, it was apparent that after delivering an attack to Zong Xinjue, the assassin had taken the opportunity to position himself behind Chu Qianze.

Chu Qianze’s actions remained unchanged, seemingly oblivious to the danger behind him, continuing to snipe the opposing boxer.

The commentator timely provided analysis, “Now, the assassin from the Jun Shang Team has activated his stealth skill, disappearing from the original location. Where will he go? He has actually infiltrated the enemy’s camp. Initially thought to target the shield warrior Zong Xinjue, he unexpectedly aims to take down the Chen Qianli!”

“Watch out behind you!” Ma Chun screamed at the top of his lungs.

Even though he knew that the players couldn’t hear the audience after the match started due to the blocking function, he couldn’t resist shouting.

As he watched the assassin getting closer and closer, and Chu Qianze still taking no defensive measures…

He was getting too nervous to continue. He raised his hand to cover his eyes, but at the same time, he felt unwilling. So, he opened a gap between his fingers.

“I spent money to watch the game; I have to do justice to it somehow.”

Chu Qianze glanced backward, and as Zong Xinjue’s attack landed, he executed a quick combo, finishing off the boxer in front of him.

“The boxer has lost combat effectiveness, and the assassin is gearing up. It seems like Chen Qianli won’t escape. It looks like the key to the match will be decided between the shield warrior Zong Xinjue and the assassin. Generally, assassins have an advantage over shield warriors,” the host remarked, sighing lightly.

He still liked Chen Qianli; it was clear that this wasn’t the player’s true skill level. What’s going on? Could it be that the match has heated up, leading to an unintentional mistake?

The assassin raised his dagger, grinned, and thrust it straight towards Chu Qianze.

The sound of metal scraping against metal reverberated throughout the arena, sending shivers down everyone’s spine.

“The assassin’s attack has been blocked! Oh my goodness, what’s that? Chen Qianli was prepared in advance; did he anticipate the assassin’s move?!” The host’s tone was animated and loud, as if he was genuinely excited by this unexpected turn of events.

Not just seeming excited, he was genuinely thrilled, though his face was a bit flushed.

Chu Qianze anchored his lower body, using the momentum to swing the spear, and the tip of the spear collided directly with the assassin’s face.

With the sounds of skill releases and the accompanying visual effects, everything settled.

[Team King victorious!]

Chu Qianze set down his spear, and when Zong Xinjue approached, he raised his hand for a high five.

“Great job~”

As the duel ended, the sound barrier lifted, and both of them were enveloped in the clamor.

The applause, cheers, and shouts were incessant, as if they were about to lift the roof. Through this fervent expression, they sought to showcase their passion.

Chu Qianze pulled Zong Xinjue up and raised their hands, gesturing towards the audience.

“You guys are awesome, your coordination is damn seamless!! Damn, I want to marry you both!!” Ma Chun stood up, applauding vigorously, his face flushed, looking like he had just had a bit too much to drink.

Catching the sound, Chu Qianze looked in that direction and saw Ma Chun swinging wildly. His expression went blank for a moment, then he leaned over and said something to Zong Xinjue.

Upon hearing that, Zong Xinjue also glanced in that direction.

He had just heard Chu Qianze say, “He said we make a great pair.”

With the end of the match, the arena cleared out, returning to its usual calm.

In contrast, the online forums were exploding. The Team King became the center of discussion, with people talking about them everywhere.

In a certain team’s meeting room.

“Let’s continue the match analysis today. Before we dive into that, let me ask, who here is familiar with the Team King?”

“I know about them; they’re quite popular on the forums. But I haven’t seen their actual strength yet.” The forums had a fair amount of exaggeration, and as long as the moves were flashy, someone could be labeled a master. It couldn’t be fully trusted, so specific details needed internal analysis.

The leader didn’t comment on the remark and tapped the light panel in front of him. The surroundings dimmed, and the screen lit up, playing a series of clips. It showed several coordinated moves between Chu Qianze and Zong Xinjue during the match against King, as well as the skill moves Chu Qianze used in the final defensive stance.

“This is quite worth studying. If you haven’t seen it, go back and watch it yourself. Starting today, this team will be added to our observation list.”

Similar discussions were taking place in various teams.

In Zong Xinjue’s home.

They were also having a discussion.

Chu Qianze held a bottle of yogurt, lightly tapping the bottle with his fingertips. The rounded bottom of the bottle spun on the table.

“Now that more people know about us, it’s bound to attract some attention. Perhaps there are already some teams who’ve added us to their observation lists, and they won’t hesitate to analyze us in the future,” Zong Xinjue said as he scrolled through documents, making adjustments.

Chu Qianze nodded in understanding. “That’s why I’m currently only using guns and artillery, temporarily disguising myself as a gunner. Later, when the time is right, I’ll catch them off guard and deliver a fatal blow.”

“Exactly.”

Chu Qianze grinned, “Thanks to Professor Zong’s guidance.”

Zong Xinjue pursed his lips and redirected the conversation, “The list of competitors for the upcoming matches hasn’t been released yet, but these are the ones we need to keep an eye on.”

He projected the compiled information.

After going through the details, Chu Qianze couldn’t help but marvel, “Where did you get all this information? It’s incredibly detailed. Do we have a mole somewhere else?”

Originally, he thought that as the competition progressed, he would have more and more tasks on his plate. Contrary to his expectations, Zong Xinjue had already taken care of everything. All he needed to do was fully utilize his strengths during the matches, coordinate with the team, and then enjoy the victories.

“No mole, just early investigations. We exchange information with other teams when necessary,” Zong Xinjue explained.

For the teams in the earlier matches with less fame, gathering information was a bit challenging, requiring them to improvise. As the competition advanced, the list of participating teams became clearer. Over the past few years, professional teams hadn’t undergone significant personnel changes. Reviewing past match records revealed some traces and clues.

“You should also pay attention to getting some rest; those dark circles have deepened quite a bit lately… Forget it, pretend I didn’t say anything.” This remark wasn’t realistic, so urging him to eat seemed more practical.

Chu Qianze set up a split-screen on the light panel, looking at the information provided by Zong Xinjue on one side and browsing the forums on the other.

His gaze lingered on a post.

[XYZ defeated, out of the championship race. The once-mighty King has fallen.]

After browsing through it, he lost interest and closed it.

XYZ had failed this time, but there was still a redemption match. Although they couldn’t get the championship, competing for a top position was still possible.

“You seem quite adept at this. Did you handle these things before?” Chu Qianze put down the yogurt, supporting his chin with one hand, and asked casually.

The topic shifted unexpectedly fast. Zong Xinjue took a moment to respond, “I compared my own data with the coach’s.”

So, XYZ’s initial victory was based on Zong Xinjue’s strategy. Otherwise, the coach’s level wouldn’t have regressed so much.

Thinking about the interview video where the coach subtly claimed credit for discovering Zong Xinjue, stating that he had a keen eye and had come up with all the tactics himself, even staying up late for an extended period.

Chuckling to himself, Chu Qianze brought his attention back. He saw Zong Xinjue looking at the light panel, his lips slightly downturned.

“What’s wrong?” Chu Qianze leaned over to take a look, but Zong Xinjue resisted. Not giving up, he continued staring at him.

Zong Xinjue surrendered, turned his face away, and shared the light panel.

It was an email from the coach, expressing that the team was on the verge of elimination. He hoped that Zong Xinjue could help by providing all relevant team information and ideally come up with a strategic plan.

Chu Qianze: ???

He squeezed the bottle in his hand with force, creating a small dent in it.
