Staying overnight was an option, but it meant spending four hours round trip on the subway, and the next morning, he had to get up very early.

Bai Sijun considered himself not someone who enjoys fussing around. He resigned himself to the sofa, starting to seriously reflect on whether he was a failure as an editor, always being led around by the nose by the authors.

His eyes were fixed on the pristine ceiling, and there was no sound around.

The living room was strangely quiet, as if something was missing.

Bai Sijun remembered—It was the sound of Mei Yuchen typing on the keyboard. The initial clacking sound used to annoy him, but after calming down, the rhythmic typing became a reassuring presence.

He wasn’t a cook or a dishwasher; his true mission was to supervise Mei Yuchen’s writing. The clacking sound was like a guarantee, letting him know that his work was progressing methodically.

However, the clacking had stopped for quite some time now. He turned curiously, only to meet Mei Yuchen’s gaze.

Mei Yuchen was looking at him again.

Bai Sijun wasn’t sure what was interesting about the top of his head. Perhaps this was part of a writer’s professional etiquette, the need to observe others at any time?

“Are you stuck?” Bai Sijun asked.

Mei Yuchen silently looked at him, seemingly lost in thought. Suddenly, he spoke, “Let’s go to the supermarket.”

“The supermarket?” Bai Sijun was puzzled.

“Yeah.” Mei Yuchen looked away with a somewhat unnatural expression, as if he were evading something.

This was the first time Bai Sijun had seen him reveal such an expression. But thinking about it, Mei Yuchen, the great author who was out of touch with the mundane world, indeed had no connection with activities like supermarket shopping.

Not understanding Mei Yuchen’s sudden interest, Bai Sijun asked, “Aren’t you writing anymore?”

Mei Yuchen pursed his lips, “I need a break.”

True, people weren’t typing machines. Machines could stop, and people needed to rest too. Bai Sijun sat up, “Let’s go, then.”

After walking together for a while, Bai Sijun finally understood that Mei Yuchen’s “supermarket shopping” was actually “mall window shopping.”

There was a large shopping district not far from the villa area, and the subway station was conveniently located there. Bai Sijun was quite familiar with this route since he passed through it every time he took the subway. Mei Yuchen, on the other hand, couldn’t help but look around at every intersection.

“Let’s go this way.” Bai Sijun stopped Mei Yuchen, who was about to take the wrong path, and pointed in the direction of the mall.

“I don’t go out much.” Mei Yuchen pursed his lips and said, “I’ve never been to that mall.”

“What size do you wear?”

“It’s fine not to change it for a day,” Bai Sijun awkwardly reassured. He had never gone underwear shopping with a man before. He tried to push the cart forward, but Mei Yuchen, standing in front of the cart, didn’t move, squinting his eyes as he asked, “What size do you wear?”

Mei Yuchen’s tone lost a bit of casualness and gained a hint of dominance. Bai Sijun thought that once they were outside, he would have the upper hand, but it turned out he still couldn’t resist Mei Yuchen.

Giving up resistance, he replied, “Size L.”

Without hesitation, Mei Yuchen took ten identical low-rise briefs from the shelf.

Bai Sijun widened his eyes and asked, “Why are you buying so many?”

Mei Yuchen lightly opened his lips, “Stocking up.”

“No,” Bai Sijun found it even stranger, “I don’t wear low-rise.”

This time, Mei Yuchen didn’t bother lifting an eyelid and said, “Your hip dip looks good.”

Bai Sijun stood dumbfounded. What did the style of his underwear have to do with the appearance of his hip dip?

More importantly, what did Mei Yuchen have to do with what he wore?

What was he thinking just now? Mei Yuchen’s actions were logical? He retracted that statement.

By now, Mei Yuchen had walked towards the checkout area, and Bai Sijun quickly followed him with the cart.

The line at the checkout was long, and it took them several minutes to approach the counter. Bai Sijun wanted to continue asking, but surrounded by people, he suppressed his curiosity. After leaving the supermarket, he couldn’t help but ask Mei Yuchen, “Do you still bring partners home now?”

Mei Yuchen turned his head, looking a bit puzzled, “It’s been a long time.”

Bai Sijun furrowed his brow, “Then why are you buying condoms?”

Mei Yuchen pursed his lips without answering, and Bai Sijun suddenly had a bad premonition.

Bai Sijun breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing him smile, Bai Sijun relaxed. However, Mei Yuchen added, “The condoms are for the person on top.”
