ROBEPTQ chapter 51

Honey

True to his word, Bai Sijun got up and headed to the kitchen after sending the message.

After a short while, a voice came from behind him. Bai Sijun placed a pot of water on the natural gas stove, but as soon as he turned around, a pair of hands appeared around his waist.

Mei Yuchen rested his chin on Bai Sijun’s shoulder, eagerly asking, “am I going to eat noodles first and then something else?”

“Eat what else?” Bai Sijun playfully pushed away Mei Yuchen’s hands, opened the refrigerator, and took out some noodles and a few leftover side dishes, “Can we just eat these mixed together?”

“Sure.” Mei Yuchen agreed, then embraced Bai Sijun from behind again, saying, “You clearly said you’d let me eat something else.”

“I mean, I’ll let you eat this.” Bai Sijun took two empty bowls from the cabinet. He had only eaten a few bites at the Hunan restaurant in the evening, and after a sweaty workout, he was a bit hungry now.

“When did you learn to cook noodles properly?” Mei Yuchen asked, looking curious.

“I often cook for him, so he usually checks the process.”

There was a brief silence, and soon Bai Sijun heard a faint sigh.

“There’s pickled vegetables in the fridge. You can take them out to eat,” Lan Yue said and then turned to leave. Bai Sijun quickly stopped her, saying, “Mom.”

Lan Yue paused, and Bai Sijun looked at her petite figure. Many complex emotions surged within him. He wanted to say a lot, but in the end, all his thoughts condensed into one word: “Thanks.”

Mei Yuchen also said, “Thank you, Aunt.”

Lan Yue didn’t respond and walked into the shadows.

Bai Sijun knew that even if Lan Yue didn’t fully accept Mei Yuchen, she wouldn’t make things difficult for them anymore. He suddenly felt a sense of relief. Taking out a pack of pickled vegetables, he handed a strand to Mei Yuchen, asking, “How is it?”

“It’s good.” Mei Yuchen smiled, and Bai Sijun, in a good mood, playfully picked up another strand of pickled vegetables, half of it in his mouth. Then he leaned towards Mei Yuchen, and Mei Yuchen immediately understood his intention. They naturally entwined their tongues.

“Cough, cough!”

Suddenly, two clear coughs echoed in the darkness. Bai Sijun, as if electrocuted, quickly sat back in his chair. Turning to look at the shadowy figure, he nervously asked, “Mom, why haven’t you left yet?”

“I came out for a drink of water.” Lan Yue said embarrassedly, “Well, go to bed early.”

Bai Sijun almost wanted to find a hole to bury himself in. He glanced at Mei Yuchen and found that he wasn’t uncomfortable. Instead, he looked at him with a teasing expression, like an outsider.

Blushing, Bai Sijun lowered his head and said, “Hurry up and eat. After eating, go to sleep.”

Mei Yuchen chuckled, “Okay.”

Returning to the room, it was nearly midnight. Bai Sijun lying on the bed felt strange. Every time he ate a full meal at night, his brain seemed to be injected with stimulants, and he had no intention of resting.

He picked up his phone, thinking of sending a message to Mei Yuchen. However, considering Mei Yuchen’s sleep problems, he dismissed the idea.

Bored, he tossed and turned in bed. After a while, he suddenly sat up.

No, he really couldn’t sleep. He had to see Mei Yuchen.

After all, the kissing incident was already seen by his mom. Even if they were found sleeping in the same bed, he had nothing to be embarrassed about.

He took his pillow and stealthily entered Mei Yuchen’s room. At this moment, Mei Yuchen was sleeping with his back to the door, rhythmically moving his body, indicating that he was in a deep sleep.

Bai Sijun climbed onto the bed quietly, embraced Mei Yuchen’s waist from behind. However, before he could close his eyes, the person in front of him moved.

Mei Yuchen turned around, forcefully pulling Bai Sijun into his arms, and asked with a smile, “what are you doing?”

“You, you weren’t sleeping.” Bai Sijun said awkwardly, “I was afraid you wouldn’t sleep well, so I came to accompany you.”

“If you’re afraid I won’t sleep well, how could you think I’m already asleep?” Mei Yuchen pointed out the flaw in Bai Sijun’s words without mercy. He leaned in, lowered his voice, and said, “I see you came for something else.”

Something else?

Bai Sijun just wanted to hug his big cat and didn’t think of anything else. He asked, “What else?”

Mei Yuchen slowly spoke, “Satisfaction—”

“Lewd thoughts.”

Seeing Mei Yuchen deliberately elongating the words as if questioning, Bai Sijun followed suit without thinking. However, as soon as the words came out, he regretted it. Because answering so eagerly made it seem like he really came for desire.

“No,” Bai Sijun quickly explained, “I just couldn’t sleep, so I came to hug you.”

“Well, I understand.” Mei Yuchen said in understanding, but his hands didn’t stay still and went down.

Bai Sijun’s breathing became erratic. “Mei, we just did that a while ago. I really have nothing left.”

“Is that so?” Mei Yuchen casually replied, “Whether there’s anything left or not, I’ll know after trying.”

“You…”

Bai Sijun stared at the ceiling, feeling exhausted. He originally came over just to hug Mei Yuchen to sleep, but ended up being tossed around, leaving him drained.

The next morning, Bai Sijun’s biological clock surprisingly didn’t wake him up. When he groggily opened his eyes, sunlight was already streaming at the bedside. The reflected light added a hazy filter to the face close in front of him, and as he looked, he couldn’t help but curl up his lips.

“Why aren’t you up yet? Breakfast is getting cold.”

Lan Yue’s voice suddenly sounded at the door, and Bai Sijun realized that his mom opening the door had disturbed his sleep.

“I’ll get up right away.” Bai Sijun sat up, and at that moment, Lan Yue said again, “Since he’s not awake yet, come out. I have something to ask you.”

Bai Sijun hesitated for a moment, then replied, “Okay.”

He draped the cooling blanket over Mei Yuchen, who was still asleep, then slipped into his slippers and headed out. He knew that Lan Yue couldn’t fully accept him and Mei Yuchen so quickly, but as long as she was willing to communicate, it wasn’t a problem.

The two sat down at the dining table. Bai Sijun picked up a youtiao (Chinese fried dough stick) and Lan Yue asked, “I wanted to ask yesterday, what’s the deal with the ring on your hand?”

Bai Sijun turned his hand and looked, teasingly saying, “Wedding ring.”

“What wedding?” Lan Yue frowned, “How can two men get married?”

Bai Sijun took a sip of soy milk without saying a word.

Lan Yue continued, “You really don’t like girls at all?”

Bai Sijun didn’t immediately answer this question. He put down the bowl in silence, and after a while, he said, “Mom, this has nothing to do with gender. I just like him.”

Lan Yue opened her mouth, seemingly wanting to say something, but before she could, Bai Sijun continued, “Even if I had some feelings for girls when I was in school, it doesn’t mean that the person who truly moves me has to be a girl.”

Lan Yue sighed, seemingly understanding something. Shortly after, Bai Sijun heard her say, “In the way you looked at him lying on the bed just now, what else do I need to understand?”

Bai Sijun smiled, thinking that he couldn’t live without Mei Yuchen both physically and mentally. This was something his mom wouldn’t understand.

“Your sister said yesterday that he’s a writer. How much money can he make in a year?” Lan Yue straightforwardly asked.

Bai Sijun knew that parents cared about their child’s partner’s income, but honestly, he didn’t know much about Mei Yuchen’s financial situation.

“Even if he has money, it has nothing to do with me,” Bai Sijun said. “I can support myself. I don’t need him to support me.”

“If you don’t have a job, how do you support yourself?” Lan Yue asked sharply.

Bai Sijun didn’t have a clear plan for work, and he was thinking about how to deal with it. At this moment, Mei Yuchen’s voice suddenly came from behind: “Auntie, you don’t need to worry about our future. I won’t let him suffer.”

Bai Sijun instinctively felt that Mei Yuchen’s statement needed an ellipsis—except in bed, but wisely kept silent.

Lan Yue’s tightly knitted brows began to relax. She said to Bai Sijun, “Are you done eating? Finish up and go open the store. I want to talk to him alone.”

The time quickly approached two in the afternoon.

Lan Yue and Bai Jiajia escorted Bai Sijun and Mei Yuchen to the entrance of the neighborhood. Lan Yue and Mei Yuchen walked ahead, while Bai Jiajia and Bai Sijun followed behind. Bai Sijun didn’t know what his mom had said to Mei Yuchen in the morning, but the atmosphere between them had clearly improved a lot compared to last night.

He quietly approached the two, wanting to eavesdrop on their conversation. However, he overheard his mom saying to Mei Yuchen, “I never thought I’d have a second son-in-law instead of a daughter-in-law.”

Bai Sijun found it amusing. So when he and Mei Yuchen arrived at the airport waiting room, and there was no one around, he couldn’t help but say, “Honey, what did my mom say to you?”

Mei Yuchen squinted his eyes and asked, “What did you call me?”

“Honey.” Bai Sijun smiled triumphantly.

Mei Yuchen remained silent, not immediately responding. Bai Sijun seized the opportunity to continue, “You call me wife, and I call you honey. I think it’s quite fair.”

“Heh.” Mei Yuchen lightly chuckled with a hint of ambiguity, then casually replied, “Got it.”
