A night without having to work suddenly became very leisurely. Bai Yang first went to the restaurant to apologize to the manager and formally resign. Unexpectedly, he learned that yesterday, in the brief moment when he changed out of his uniform, Shao Cheng had asked the manager for his bank account number. No wonder he could transfer the money over.
Regarding this money, since Shao Cheng told him to hold onto it, he decided to keep it safe for now.
When the time came for this relationship to end, he could return the money as it is.
After leaving the restaurant, Bai Yang went directly to the hospital. He spent quite a while talking to his still-sleeping sister about Shao Cheng, of course skipping the inappropriate parts. After all, Bai Tao was only 16 years old, still underage.
Halfway through, a nurse came in to check on things as usual. Seeing Bai Yang’s outfit, she exclaimed, “Wow, your clothes are from Brand G?”
Bai Yang was still wearing the outfit Shao Cheng had prepared for him in the morning, including the shirt, sweater, pants, and coat. He wasn’t familiar with clothing brands, so upon hearing the nurse’s question, he hesitated and replied, “A friend gave them to me. I’m not sure, is this brand expensive?”
“Of course, and it looks like the latest design too, right? A few days ago, my boyfriend and I passed by that store and looked at the window display several times. Unfortunately, they’re too expensive, so we couldn’t afford them. Your friend is really generous.”
Bai Yang suddenly felt uncomfortable. How could he forget? Shao Cheng’s clothes couldn’t possibly be cheap.
He immediately sent a message to Shao Cheng, saying that he would return the clothes after washing them. A few minutes later, Shao Cheng replied that there was no need.
Despite that, Bai Yang still changed out of the clothes when he got home and took them to a professional laundry service. He was afraid that he might damage them while washing by hand. The next day, after school, he picked up the clothes and headed straight to Shao Cheng’s house.
The person who opened the door was not Shao Cheng, but a middle-aged woman. They both looked surprised upon seeing each other, but when the woman saw the clothes in Bai Yang’s hand, she immediately realized, “You’re Shao Cheng’s friend, right?”
Bai Yang nodded somewhat uncertainly.
The woman smiled and gestured for him to come inside, saying, “I’m the auntie who cooks and cleans for Shao Cheng regularly. Just call me Auntie Fang. Shao Cheng is in his room upstairs. I’ll go call him.”
Bai Yang quickly said, “It’s alright, Auntie Fang. I just came to return the clothes and then I’ll leave. I don’t want to disturb him.”
“You’re being so polite. Alright then.” Auntie Fang found Bai Yang clean and handsome, full of spirit, and very likable. She couldn’t help but say a few more words, “I’ve watched Shao Cheng grow up. I can tell he values you as a friend. Please take care of him more in the future.”
Bai Yang was somewhat puzzled and asked, “Auntie Fang, are you mistaken? I’m not that close with Shao Cheng…” They weren’t even friends, really.
Auntie Fang looked surprised and said, “Wasn’t it you who stayed over here the other day?”
“It was me…”
“Then i’m not mistaken.” Auntie Fang smiled, “That night, I was originally going to come over to clean, but Shao Cheng messaged me saying a friend was going to stay over, so I didn’t come. But then late at night, around ten, he messaged me again, asking me to buy a few pieces of clothing and deliver them in the morning. He rarely troubles me like this, so I remember it well.”
Bai Yang froze. Around ten o’clock, that was probably when he was taking a shower. Shao Cheng had actually bought clothes for him? He had thought those clothes were given to him because they were the wrong size and couldn’t be worn.
“What are you guys talking about?”
Both Bai Yang and Auntie Fang turned their heads at the same time. Shao Cheng was coming down the stairs. When he saw the clothes in Bai Yang’s hand, his brows furrowed, “Didn’t I say you don’t need to return them to me?”
“But I…” Bai Yang hadn’t finished speaking when the doorbell rang.
Auntie Fang walked to the entrance and opened the door. To their surprise, it was Zheng Hanqin.
Seeing Bai Yang, Zheng Hanqin was also taken aback. She looked him up and down, walked over to Shao Cheng, and said, “Hey, Shao Cheng, isn’t this the person we met at the mall last time? You lied to me, he’s obviously your friend.” She pretended to be angry, her appearance charming and lovely.

Although Gu Weihao said that Zheng Hanqin wasn’t Shao Cheng’s girlfriend, he didn’t tell him all the details. “Well, I should get going. I won’t disturb you guys. Here, take back the clothes. I’m not suited for such expensive style.” Bai Yang smiled apologetically, ready to leave.
“Did I say you could leave?” Shao Cheng’s tone grew cold.
Bai Yang had no choice but to stop in his tracks and said, “If you have something to discuss, I’ll wait for you in your study. I don’t want to intrude…”
“Whether it’s convenient or not is up to me.” Shao Cheng interrupted him, his tone becoming forceful, “head to the study and wait for me there.”
Both Aunt Fang and Zheng Hanqin stood on the sidelines, not daring to say anything. They didn’t understand why Shao Cheng suddenly became angry. They could only sympathetically watch Bai Yang lower his head and head upstairs.
“Why are you so harsh to him?” Zheng Hanqin asked softly.
Irritated, Shao Cheng tossed the clothes into a corner.
