RYF chapter 37

Suddenly, a miserable scream rang in Bai Yang’s ears. One person was forcefully pulled away by something behind him, and his whole body tilted backward before falling to the ground, emitting a muffled groan of pain. The place where he fell instantly opened up a large gap, allowing sunlight to flood in. The light shone onto Bai Yang’s tightly closed eyelids, and although he wanted to open them, the light was too glaring.

Silence filled the surroundings like death.

Song Chi was the first to react, grinning broadly as he called out, “Cheng.”

Shao Cheng’s expression was calm, but it sent shivers of coldness and fear down everyone’s spine. Several of his henchmen unconsciously took a step back, clearly affected by his presence.

Bai Yang’s field of vision suddenly expanded, and his eyes adjusted to the light. He lowered the hand covering his head, enduring the pain as he squinted and looked at the figure seemingly bathed in holy light.

Perhaps Shao Cheng was his destined savior, why else would he always appear to rescue him at his most critical moments?

Shao Cheng stood above Bai Yang, gazing down at him. His eyes were pitch black, profound, and deep, and he squatted down, embracing Bai Yang’s shoulders and waist, helping him to stand up.

Seeing that Shao Cheng didn’t seem to be angry, Song Chi’s courage grew, and he tried to get closer by saying, “Cheng, you can’t blame me for this. You saw it yesterday too. He attacked me first, and I just fought back. I know you care about him, but we’ve been friends for so many years. You wouldn’t hold a grudge against me for the sake of a casual lover, would you?”

Shao Cheng seemed as if he hadn’t heard him speak at all. He didn’t even turn his head, just raised his hand to gently wipe away the dirt and dust on Bai Yang’s face. He asked in a low voice, “Can you stand on your own?”

Bai Yang tried it out. Despite the pain all over his body, thankfully, he hadn’t sustained any serious injuries. He managed to reply, “Yes.”

“Okay ,” Shao Cheng curled his lips, his expression and tone almost indulgent, leaving Bai Yang slightly dazed.

However, when he turned around to face Song Chi’s group, that hint of a smile had vanished completely, replaced by an icy, bone-chilling gaze that made everyone feel a shiver down their spines.

He took a few steps forward expressionlessly, then without warning, he raised his leg and delivered a fierce kick to one person’s knee joint!

The person immediately screamed and knelt on the ground, and the distinct sound of bones breaking sent shivers through everyone. Before the others could recover from the shock, Shao Cheng had already swung his fist and knocked down another person. He stepped on his back and pulled up one of his arms, exerted force, and with a crunch, the arm bent and hung down like a torn piece of cloth.

The last person left was so frightened that he turned and tried to run. But before he could even take a step, he was suddenly struck hard on the back with a stick. He didn’t even have a chance to groan before he collapsed, unconscious.

In moments, Shao Cheng had dealt with three of them. His movements were swift and ruthless, bordering on terrifying. He casually discarded the stick and stared intently at Song Chi, advancing step by step.

Song Chi was terrified. He stammered, “Cheng, calm down, please calm down. We’ve had a good relationship between our families for so many years. Think twice before you act…”

“Good relationship?” Shao Cheng grabbed Song Chi’s collar tightly, his voice chilling, “Before you harmed my people, did you ever consider our ‘good relationship’?”

“Th-then consider that I was also beaten by him. Let’s call it even, okay?”

“He beating you was deserved. Considering the disgusting things you’ve done to him in the past, it’s not excessive even if he beat you to death.”

Song Chi’s collar was choking him, and he could hardly breathe. He struggled to get the words out, “I-I haven’t… I haven’t done anything… I haven’t…”

“Still not admitting it?” Shao Cheng’s eyes narrowed dangerously, and his clenched fist, with veins popping, seemed ready to strike at any moment.

Bai Yang, worried about things escalating, rushed over and held Shao Cheng’s hand to make him ease up. He pleaded, “Don’t hit him. Shao Cheng please don’t get involved.”

Although the Shao and Song families were rivals in business, they also had a longstanding friendship. This was why despite Song Chi’s constant provocations that annoyed Shao Cheng, he had never truly taken action against him. If the two of them were to fight over Bai Yang and ruin their relationship, it would cause significant trouble for Shao Cheng and his family. Bai Yang didn’t want to see that happen.

Given a chance to catch his breath, Song Chi took advantage of the fact that the two were focused on each other and fled on his own.

Shao Cheng’s lips curled slightly, showing a hint of anger. He asked, “Why didn’t you explain to me earlier—”

Before he could finish speaking, Bai Yang, weakened by exhaustion, stumbled and fell into his embrace. Bai Yang pushed against his chest and weakly said, “I’ll explain, let’s just go back first…”

Shao Cheng remained silent, his emotions surging in his eyes. After a few seconds, he lowered his body and carried Bai Yang horizontally in his arms.

“You better explain everything once we get back.”

His tone was icy, but his movements were gentle as he settled the person in his arms onto the back seat of the car. He then went back and picked up the discarded luggage before speeding back to his residence.
