Perhaps the Xu family’s social status couldn’t compare to those prestigious clans, but Xu Xingguang’s looks were no less than any wealthy young lady. Moreover, she had the added advantage of her nationally renowned mother, a great writer.

When the doctors came out of Xu Xingguang’s room, both Xu Zeqing and You Jingqiu instinctively kept their mouths shut.

Dr. Zhang congratulated Xu Zeqing with a cheerful smile. “Congratulations, Mr. Xu, Miss Xingguang has successfully awakened, and she appears to be in good spirits. We’ll conduct a full-body examination later, and if everything checks out, she’ll only need some rehabilitation before being discharged.”

Afterwards, Dr. Zhang couldn’t help but express his amazement. He exclaimed, “For a patient to wake up successfully, it’s nothing short of a medical miracle! Congratulations to Mr. Xu and Mrs. Xu!”

Xu Zeqing stepped forward and shook the doctor’s hand. “This is all thanks to Dr. Lin and the dedicated staff at Changkang Hospital.”

After exchanging pleasantries, the doctor instructed the nurses to take Xu Xingguang for a physical examination.

Xu Zeqing was about to follow them, but his phone, placed inside his suit’s inner pocket, rang. It had a unique ringtone set by his uncle, Hong Ruhai.

Hastily retrieving his phone, Xu Zeqing answered it, and a deep and commanding voice came through the receiver, “The plan has changed. Young Master Huo has been successfully stabilized. Zeqing, you haven’t taken any action yet, have you?”

Upon hearing this unexpected news, Xu Zeqing was momentarily stunned, causing him to forget to respond.

Young Master Huo had an incurable illness, and his survival this time didn’t change the inevitable outcome. To ensure the plan’s success, Hong Ruhai had specifically instructed Xu Zeqing not to act prematurely and to wait for his notification.

Sensing Xu Zeqing’s prolonged silence, Hong Ruhai’s voice turned displeased. “Have you already taken action? Why the rush? Didn’t I tell you to wait for my signal?”

Thinking of the fact that Young Master Huo had unexpectedly survived while Xu Xingguang had awakened, Xu Zeqing felt a deep sense of regret.

Xu Zeqing pinched his phone, his forehead growing cold. He sighed, “Uncle, it’s Xingguang. She… She woke up.”

On the other end of the call, Hong Ruhai fell silent as well.

After a few seconds, Hong Ruhai finally spoke, “Is that so? Well, it seems she’s quite resilient.” With those words, he ended the call.

Xu Zeqing held onto his phone, not saying a word for a while.

You Jingqiu had overheard the conversation’s content, and she said, “This move is a dead end.” In her eyes, Xu Xingguang had become a discarded piece on the chessboard.

Then, she considered something else and continued, “I heard from your uncle that the Huo family still has several other grandsons. If we can marry our Mingyue into the Huo family…”

“What are you dreaming about?” Xu Zeqing scowled at You Jingqiu, saying, “Any child from the Huo family is beyond our reach.” Even securing the position of a marriage partner required careful planning, let alone vying for the position of the Huo family’s young mistress against those prominent families.

In this regard, Xu Zeqing had a sense of self-awareness.

What Xu Zeqing said was true, but You Jingqiu couldn’t accept that her daughter was less than others.

However, nobody knew that You Mingyue and You Jiaoyang weren’t Xu Zeqing’s stepdaughter and stepson; they were his illegitimate children!

Long before Xu Zeqing married Mo Yinshu, he had maintained a secret, romantic relationship with You Jingqiu for several years. However, due to You Jingqiu’s low social status as she had once worked in the adult entertainment industry, Xu Zeqing’s mother had firmly opposed their relationship.

Helpless, Xu Zeqing had pretended to break up with You Jingqiu and entered into an arranged marriage with Mo Yinshu.

On the day of his wedding to Mo Yinshu, he had even managed to steal a moment with You Jingqiu in a hotel room!

And these twin children were conceived on that very day.

You Jingqiu intentionally named the twins Mingyue and Jiaoyang to emphasize their superiority over Xu Xingguang through their names.
