"Be my shield."

Chapter 8 “Be my shield.”

When I entered the student council room, just as Kazuki expected, there were three people who ran away first. Each of them is sitting in a chair and has a dark expression.

“Anyway, I’m glad you’re safe. Just sit anywhere you like.”

The student council president glanced at the three of us and announced in a bored tone.

“Masaomi, let’s sit down.”

As Kazuki told me, I sat down on the pipe chair.

Kana sits down next to me as if it were natural.

At the far end of a large, ready-made table made of four rectangular tables, the student council president was stationed. It’s probably in a fixed position. Mutsuki faces him.

Three seats were set up on the long side of the rectangle, and we sat down in order from Mutsuki-san’s side to Kana, me, and Kazuki. Mizuno-san is opposite Kana. There was an empty seat next to Mizuno-san, and next to that empty seat was Sato.

When I glanced over at Mizuno-san, I saw her leaning her crutches against the wall. She looks awkward even sitting in the chair, it makes me worried looking at her.

Suddenly, our eyes meet, but right before we get into an argument, I immediately look away, feeling embarrassed.

“… So, we were discussing what to do from now on until you guys came.”

Mutsuki-san crossed her arms and legs and cut off in a bad mood.

“Mutsuki, you’re saying things out of order. I don’t know the three people who just came. I think we should start by having them introduce themselves.”

When the student council president rejected Mutsuki-san’s statement, Mutsuki-san seemed even more displeased.

“Whatever.”

She uncrossed her arms and spread them out, looking bored. It seems a little too exaggerated. That’s probably how annoyed she is.

“Then I’ll go first.”

Kazuki stands up.

The sound of the pipe chair scraping echoed through the silent student council room.

“Nagasawa Kazuki, 1st year. Club activities–“

“You don’t need to include those things. You just need to inform us the most basic things.”

Were the student council president’s ruthless words.

“He’s right. It’s not like there will be a future by knowing such things.”

“Such a……”

Mizuno-san unintendedly raised her voice.

“I’m just telling the truth. Or what, are you saying that we have a future? In this situation, are you going to attend school cheerfully? Unbelievable.”

I could feel Mizuno-san’s spirit waning.

“Anyway, I’m Nagasawa Kazuki. Nice to meet you.”

Kazuki’s tone became businesslike and he quickly sat down. He clicked his tongue slightly as he sat down.

“I’m Toujou Masaomi. Similarly a first year.”

Like Kazuki, I try to sit down with a minimal self-introduction.

“It’s a name I’ve heard somewhere before…… When was it? Oh well, whatever.”

Mutsuki-san tilts her head. She’s probably trying to remember the situation Kana asked her about, but that’s how her memory of me is after all. Even though I knew it, it was still painful to be reminded of it in reality.

I rested my body weakly on the pipe chair.

“Nakai Kana, first year.”

It was a self-introduction that took less than three seconds.

It reminds me of how Kazuki and I reacted when we learned Kana’s real name a long time ago.

It doesn’t matter if you read it from the front or from the back, Na-kai-Ka-na.

I remember laughing out loud despite the rudeness.

Of course, no one here noticed such a thing. We all know that now is not the time.

“It’s my turn, right?”

She stands quickly.

Her long black hair swayed accordingly.

“I’m Mutsuki Shizuku. Anyway, I’m sure you know about me already though.”

Certainly, all the students at the school probably know about Shizuku Mutsuki, a first-year student.

Being beautiful is one thing, but above all, being noticed by scouts and being active in the entertainment industry is the most effective advertising effect.

She sat down on the pipe chair and crossed her legs again. She crossed her legs in such an exaggerated way that her thighs looked bold, and I had to do my best to keep my eyes from being glued to her.

The narrow waist that can be seen even under the uniform, the bosoms that are delicate at first glance but still make a statement, the supple legs of a ballet dancer, the fine hair texture that you see in shampoo advertisements, the so-called golden ratio. It is no exaggeration to say that she has well-defined facial features.

They would certainly look good on TV. I know the scouts can’t miss it.

“I’m Mizuno! Natsumi…… Am sorry, I’m a first year.”

Before I knew it, my gaze was glued to Mutsuki-san, but I was torn away by Mizuno-san’s loud voice.

Mizuno-san took a seat slowly, taking care of her legs, and then she turned small and lowered her head to hide her expression.

“Satou Tatsuya……. A first year.”

He introduces himself with a voice that sounds like an insect chirping. I couldn’t catch his name, so I secretly asked Kazuki.

Finally, the student council president put his hands on the table and introduced himself like a politician speaking in the assembly hall.

“Third year student council president Gotou Toshifumi. Nice to meet you.”

Lifting up the center of his glasses, he sits down while surveying everyone around him.

“We’re finally done with that, right? Now, I want to go back to where we left off.” (Mutsuki)

“Yeah, we were in the middle of discussing what to do from now on, weren’t we?” (Prez)

“Uhm ,excuse me, may I say something?”

I stand up with determination. Mutsuki-san will probably hate me, but that’s how much I wanted them to hear me.

“It’s Masaomi, right? I was waiting until all the self introductions were finished, you know? Are you going to tell me to wait even more?”

She stood up with her hands on the table, expressing her dissatisfaction.

Everything she does is exaggerated and theatrical.

“Sorry, but”

She must have hated me, so I bowed my head to Mutsuki-san and pleaded with her, feeling disappointed in my heart. I was prepared for her to be furious, but Mutsuki-san withdrew more easily than I expected.

“Why don’t you talk? I’ll listen. However”

My relief was short-lived, Mutsuki-san set out some conditions.

“Become my shield. That much is fine, right? Besides, it’s only natural for a man to protect a woman.”

“Mutsuki-san……”

Mizuno-san muttered with an expression of disbelief.

“……Okay.”

“There, it’s decided.”

She claps her hands to end the shield matter.

Afterwards, she held out her palm to me, as if to tell me to talk.

I compose myself and open my mouth.

“I… Kana and I were late for school, so we didn’t really understand the situation. When we arrived at the gymnasium, everyone ran out and the teacher was like that… So, I want you to explain it so we can understand it.”

The student council president listened to me with his eyes closed.

“Very well.”

He slowly opened his eyes and rested his elbows on the table.

Then, as he folded his hands in front of his face, he calmly began to speak.
