In the quiet afternoon, the furry Ms. Xiaoqi lay in front of the floor-to-ceiling glass window eating her exclusive cat biscuits.
Sitting at the table, Xu Xinghe was applying medicine to his right hand.
The bell rang suddenly.
Xu Xinghe didn’t stop, and said casually, “Please come in.”
The voice-activated door opened automatically, and the steward He Han walked in. He stopped three steps away, and nodded respectfully. “Mr. Xu, good afternoon.”
Xu Xinghe raised his head to look at the unexpected He Han, who was suddenly more polite than before. “Did you need me for anything?”
If He Han’s attitude towards him was polite alienation and perfunctory when they first met, then at this moment, the alienation and perfunctness turned into seriousness and modesty. Only well-trained etiquette remained unchanged.
But when He Han opened his mouth, Xu Xinghe found that he was more than just a little polite.
“I’m sorry about what happened during the day. It’s because I didn’t restrain the servants in the Marshal’s mansion. I have re-educated them to avoid similar incidents from happening again. In addition, the marshal asked me to ask you regarding York’s follow-up. If you want, we will immediately transfer him away from the Marshal’s mansion.”
“Huh?” Xu Xinghe didn’t understand for a while what tune he was singing.
Tilting his head, he asked, “You can decide this kind of thing yourself. Why are you asking me?”
Hearing his words, He Han looked up at Xu Xinghe, trying to figure out whether he really didn’t understand or asked knowingly.
In fact, he was surprised when Marshal Ling called him over.
Marshal Ling did not directly order York to be driven out, but instructed him to ask Xu Xinghe for instructions and handed over the decision-making power to him.
This means that Xu Xinghe is no longer just “another master” in name to the Marshal’s mansion.
He Han being able to serve as the steward of the Marshal’s mansion at a young age was in no small part associated with his ability to observe the meaning between words.
He looked at Xu Xinghe who looked confused, hesitated for a while, and answered frankly: “He was disrespectful to you, so you should deal with it.”
Xu Xinghe was dumbfounded.
He thought that York made a fuss and did something that violated the marshal’s rules, but it was because of some “disrespectful words” to him???
Something’s wrong…
He handed in the divorce agreement, and was going to leave after a year. So why does Marshal Ling care?
“If it’s because of this—” Xu Xinghe lowered his head and continued to wipe the injured part of his right hand.
He Han raised his head and waited for the other party to open his mouth to decide whether York would stay or leave.
“Then let him come to the kitchen to help in the future.” After Xu Xinghe bandaged the wound, he carefully tied a beautiful bow, and then moved his hands satisfactorily. “Anyway, I will often go to the kitchen in the future, and need a helper. Is he able to chop vegetables?”
He Han: “…”
The steward’s cold face finally showed a little surprise.
He also thought that Xu Xinghe would at least take advantage of this matter to make a name for himself and drive York away.
Xu Xinghe saw his surprise, but just smiled.
He also knew that transferring York might be a better decision, but…
He remembered that when he asked York to get the medical kit, he was just trying to find an excuse to send him away. He didn’t expect York to actually come back with a medical kit.
Xu Xinghe stretched his waist in the sunlight. “He’s not a bad person, it’s just his mouth is a little sharp. You should let him correct this problem, otherwise he might not be so lucky next time.”
“Yes, I will take good care of it.” He Han raised his head and re-examined the marshal’s young partner in front of him.
Online rumors all said that Xu Xinghe is an arrogant and narrow-minded omega, which is why he was disliked by General Mu and divorced just after a year.
However, the omega in front of him had absolutely nothing to do with those adjectives.
His open-mindedness and tolerant attitude impressed He Han a little.
“Regarding York, I apologize to you on his behalf, and thank you on his behalf.”
He Han bowed deeply.
Xu Xinghe waved his hands quickly. “It’s a trivial matter. You can do your own thing.”
In the end, he still put himself in the position of a “guest”. He only needed those from the Marshal’s mansion to treat him as a guest.
Therefore, He Han’s attitude caught him off guard.
Frankly speaking, he didn’t really want to leave too many fetters, otherwise, how would he face separating after a year?
——
Star Floating City, Alliance Military Office.
The military command building towered into the sky. Patrol planes and the highest-level Skynet defense system active throughout the day, guarded the Alliance military office.
The two-hour meeting had just ended, and Marshal Ling took the elevator to the 88th floor, his exclusive lounge.
His adjutant, Major General Qin Yuan, followed behind, reporting his itinerary as he walked. “You have a video conference with Marshal Alex at 10:30 tonight, which is expected to last more than three hours. I asked them to clean up your room here for tonight.”
Old Marshal Alex is located in the Alpha Galaxy, which has an 11-hour time difference from Beta Galaxy’s Capital Star. Meeting times are difficult to coordinate, and one party is always destined to participate in a late night meeting.
Ling Changfeng frowned.
Qin Yuan was taken aback, and then lowered his head and began to look at the electronic itinerary. “What’s the matter? I remember that you have no other arrangements for the night…”
In the past, Ling Changfeng would choose to stay in the command building directly for the night when this type of thing happened.
For this reason, Qin Yuan specially bought a bed for his boss in the lounge, and joked that this was his second home.
Ling Changfeng looked out the window and said solemnly: “It’s nothing, just business as usual.”
The adjutant, who almost thought his memory was wrong, suddenly remembered something. He raised his head and looked at his own boss in shock. “No, no, could it be the reason I thought?”
Ling Changfeng ignored him, walked into the office, took off his coat, turned and sat on the leather chair behind the desk and began to read documents.
Even during his breaks, in front of his closest comrades, he still sat upright like a cedar tree. His appearance and demeanor was meticulous.
While Adjutant Qin had already changed his face.
He followed Ling Changfeng, stepped forward, and winked. “How does it feel to be newly married? It’s only been a while since we’ve been apart, and you’ve already begun missing him?”
Indifferent eyes raised slightly: “Have you been too bored recently?”
Qin Yuan was not afraid of him at all and shrugged. “That’s right… Us subordinates have been free recently, and urgently need a little gossip to relieve our moods. I don’t know if Marshal Ling is willing to make some contributions to the mental health of his subordinates?”
Ling Changfeng’s thin lips parted slightly, and the word “roll” slipped to his lips, but then he heard Qin Yuan continue: “By the way, did you see the love tips I wrote for you yesterday?”
The word “roll” circled around his throat, and was swallowed down.
Ling Changfeng suddenly remembered that the guy in front of him was still somewhat useful.
A slender index finger tapped on the table, as he calmly asked: “What is a compensation plan?”
Qin Yuan didn’t respond for a while. “What??”
Marshal Ling raised his eyes: “Didn’t you suggest I provide corresponding compensation? For example, give the other party some gifts, or invite him to dinner.”
Qin Yuan’s mouth gaped into a huge “O”, and his shocked expression was as if he saw a ghost in broad daylight.
“You you you…”
Lips quivering, Qin Yuan was unable to utter a complete sentence for a long time.
The hell! Did the old iron tree really bloom??
Ling Changfeng directly ignored the shocked look in the other party’s eyes, lowered his head and continued to read documents. “I want to see a specific report on the compensation plan before leaving work. And give me a list of gifts to choose from.”
Qin Yuan: “…”
If only most workplaces were that laid back to survive off gossiping off one’s boss…
