SL Chapter 1

Something to Say

As the first rays of morning sunlight filtered through the gap in the curtains, illuminating the delicate, fair face of the Omega, the little stammerer instinctively raised a hand to block the light from his eyes.

“Hiss—” The small movement tugged at certain parts of his body, and the little stammerer let out a muffled groan, frowning slightly as he slowly opened his eyes after a moment.

The little stammerer’s surname was Tang. The Alpha’s stepmother, wanting to see the Alpha embarrassed, had arranged for him to marry a stammerer.

“Finally leaving the Tang family.”

In the Tang family’s side courtyard, a group of children from the collateral branches gathered around the main family’s child, chattering away.

“Indeed, I’ve never seen an Omega like him…” One young boy trailed off, not finishing his sentence.

“Can you imagine anyone liking him? Besides that incident, he… he can’t even speak properly!” Another girl chimed in.

Familiar memories flashed through his mind, and the little stammerer sighed.

From the moment he married the Alpha, the little stammerer knew that the Alpha probably didn’t like him.

—— He might even hate him.

And this was indeed the case. Since their marriage, the Alpha hadn’t shown any signs of liking him. In fact, he rarely even came home. Thinking of this, the Omega let out a soft sigh.

Last night’s incident had truly been an accident. The Omega hadn’t expected to encounter the Alpha during his susceptible period.

Their compatibility was high. One of the main reasons the Alpha’s stepmother had persuaded the Alpha’s father to arrange the marriage was precisely because of this.

So, even though the Alpha had used a suppressant last night, their high compatibility meant that the suppressant was ineffective.

The strange feeling behind him pulled the little stammerer out of his thoughts. He took a deep breath, then, despite the discomfort, lifted the blanket and sat up halfway.

There was no trace of the Alpha by his side; last night’s close contact felt like nothing more than a dream.

The little stammerer’s body was exhausted, and his spirits were low. When his palm touched the Alpha’s side of the bed, the coldness seeped into his hand, spreading towards his heart.

“Mr. Tang, breakfast is ready.” Hearing movement from the master bedroom, the butler knocked on the door.

“Mm… thank,” his voice was hoarse, almost frighteningly so. The little stammerer cleared his throat before continuing, “Thank… thank you.”

“Haven’t you finished yet?” A deep, magnetic voice rang out from downstairs, laced with impatience. “Hurry up.”

“Sir made congee today,” the butler said with a wink towards the little stammerer.

The little stammerer’s eyes lit up. He hadn’t expected the Alpha to still be at home, much less that the Alpha would cook congee. He was so surprised that he didn’t even bother with slippers before heading downstairs.

“Why are you running?” The Alpha happened to be coming up the stairs and looked at the little stammerer.

Seeing the butler and the little stammerer almost head-to-head talking, the Alpha’s brows furrowed slightly, the scar on his brow adding to his fierce appearance.

—— He didn’t like reckless Omegas, nor did he like Omegas who didn’t know how to maintain proper distance.

Of course, he wasn’t particularly bothered by the Omega being so close to a Beta, but it wouldn’t look good if word got out, the Alpha thought.

“Hurry,” the Alpha emphasized coldly. “It’s time to go downstairs.”

“Mr… Mr. Min,” the little stammerer stood obediently, stammering even more due to the unexpected situation and the fact that he was facing the Alpha directly. He even glanced over at the butler as if seeking reassurance, “You… you’re still… here?”

The Alpha’s frown deepened as he cast a cold glance at the two of them.

The butler suddenly felt a chill run down his back.

Fortunately, the Alpha quickly looked away. After all, in the Alpha’s plan, he hadn’t intended to have much interaction with this Omega. At most, he was just going along with his stepmother’s arrangement as a temporary measure.

As for last night…

A few scenes flashed uncontrollably through his mind, making the Alpha feel slightly uneasy. The fact that he had gotten up early to cook congee made him wonder if he’d been half-asleep, because seeing the little stammerer’s sleepy eyes that morning had somehow led him to the kitchen.

The Alpha discreetly glanced at the Omega, his gaze landing on the few red marks on the little stammerer’s neck that couldn’t be hidden.

His mind was inexplicably chaotic, but there were things that needed to be clarified.

The Alpha cleared his throat: “I need to talk to you.”

“Al… alright.” The little stammerer was taken aback, not knowing what the Alpha wanted to say, but obediently stopped and looked up at the Alpha.

The little stammerer’s eyes were round and full, and as he looked up, the light from the crystal chandelier above them reflected in his pupils, like tiny, bright stars.

“Mr… Min, what do you… want to say?” the little stammerer asked earnestly.
