The words “We can’t be together” were on the tip of the Alpha’s tongue, ready to be spoken, when his gaze fell on the little stammerer’s bare feet. In his haste to come downstairs, the little stammerer hadn’t had time to put on shoes or socks.
The morning air was chilly, and the wooden floor retained some of that coolness. Tang Zhe’s toes curled slightly from the cold. “Mr… Mr. Min?”
The familiar scene involuntarily brought Min Yang’s thoughts back to last night. The entire night had been chaotic—a steamy haze enveloped everything as he gripped the little stammerer’s waist from behind. The little stammerer was clearly unable to handle it, his slender ankles trembling, toes curling up, wrinkling the white sheets beneath them. Yet, despite this, the little stammerer couldn’t even string together a plea for mercy, repeatedly stuttering out only a broken “M-Mr. Min”…
“Ahem!” The Alpha’s ears reddened, and under the little stammerer’s confused gaze, he scowled and barked, “Where are your shoes?”
The little stammerer lowered his head, embarrassed, but he answered honestly and obediently, “For… forgot.”
“Sorry… sorry.”
The Alpha’s tone was as cold as ever, making the little stammerer think that the Alpha probably didn’t like him again. But that was to be expected. Even though he had tried very hard to speak clearly, he still spoke slowly.
The little stammerer’s voice lost the excitement it had earlier when he learned the Alpha had made breakfast. In a small voice, he told Min Yang, “I… I’ll go… put on… my shoes.”
“Please… don’t… be mad.”
The little stammerer turned to go back upstairs, but the floor was so cold that Tang Zhe suddenly felt a chill, which only added to his sadness.
But just as Tang Zhe lifted his foot to step onto the stairs, a pair of large hands suddenly reached out from behind him. Tang Zhe was caught off guard, momentarily forgetting to react.
He heard the Alpha let out an impatient “tsk” before everything spun around him. When Tang Zhe regained his senses, he realized that the Alpha had scooped him up by the waist.
“Mr. Min!” The little stammerer was so startled that his stammer vanished for a second.
“Don’t move,” the Alpha commanded, tightening his grip around Tang Zhe’s waist. He added coldly, “Move again, and I’ll throw you down.”
The little stammerer shrank back, frightened into stillness, and the Alpha continued up the stairs.
But after only three steps, the Alpha’s foot slipped slightly, causing them both to jolt. Instinctively, the little stammerer wrapped his arms around the Alpha’s neck.
The sudden closeness made the little stammerer uncomfortable. They had embraced so few times that Tang Zhe, feeling uneasy, glanced at the Alpha. From his angle, he could only see the Alpha’s sharp, defined jawline.
Though he longed to be closer to the Alpha, he knew the Alpha didn’t like him. So, once the Alpha regained his balance, the little stammerer carefully half-pushed himself away, loosening his grip on the Alpha’s neck to create some distance between them.
“Ah—”
Who would have thought that after only a few more steps, the Alpha would slip again, this time nearly falling. The little stammerer squeezed his eyes shut and instinctively clung to the Alpha’s neck again, this time even closer than before due to the more intense jolt.
Fortunately, the Alpha steadied himself.
The little stammerer cautiously opened his eyes, only to hear the Alpha’s voice, still cold, say, “Don’t move.”
Was it his fidgeting earlier that caused the Alpha to lose his balance?
The little stammerer didn’t dare move anymore. He kept his arms wrapped around the Alpha’s neck and obediently rested against Min Yang’s chest.
On the second floor, the butler was still standing outside the door.
The butler, who had graduated from a prestigious international butler academy, was only a few years older than the little stammerer. However, in terms of ability and perception, he was exceptional.
Although the butler had never inquired about the relationship between Mr. Min and Mr. Tang, he had inferred from Mr. Min’s previous behavior that he likely didn’t care much for the little stammerer.
Since their marriage, Mr. Min had rarely returned home. Most of the time, the large villa was occupied only by the little stammerer. The butler, who found it hard to bear, often kept the little stammerer company, thinking of his own younger brother, who was around the same age as Tang Zhe.
Seeing the little stammerer being carried upstairs by Min Yang, the butler didn’t think of it as a tender moment. Instead, he assumed that Mr. Tang must have been injured and approached to show his concern. “What happened to you, Mr. Tang?”
Min Yang’s brow furrowed again as he subtly changed direction.
The little stammerer lifted his head, peering over the Alpha’s shoulder to reassure the butler that he was fine. But before he could shake his head, the Alpha pressed his head back down.
The little stammerer: ?
The Alpha’s voice dropped coldly, “This is indecent!”
The little stammerer: ???
The butler: ???
