SL Chapter 3

He doesn’t care

The bedroom door slammed shut with a loud “bang,” just a centimetres or two from the butler’s nose, the force of the closing door ruffling his hair.

The Alpha emphasized again, “Indecent behavior!”

The butler, standing outside the door, didn’t dare move a muscle. Only when the Alpha turned around, seemingly satisfied, did the tension ease.

The little stammerer wanted to speak but hesitated. It wasn’t until the Alpha placed him gently on the edge of the bed that he cautiously glanced at him.

Min Yang scowled, “If you have something to say, just say it.”

The little stammerer timidly spoke up for the butler, “My… my brother… he was just… concerned.”

“Please… don’t be… be mad.”

The Alpha narrowed his eyes, his voice chilling over with icy indifference, “Mad? Which eye of yours saw me get mad?”

The little stammerer remained silent, his gaze slowly dropping until it rested on the red mark circling his ankle—left there by the Alpha’s grip.

The air was quiet for a couple of seconds, but in that moment, the silence spoke louder than any words.

The Alpha: …

Min Yang cleared his throat awkwardly and loosened his grip.

Ridiculous. As if he would get mad! Ha, as if he’d lose control of his strength just because he saw that oblivious butler trying to help the little stammerer down the stairs!

The Alpha hastily added, “You’re just too delicate. The slightest touch and look what happens!”

The little stammerer nodded, accepting this explanation, “Al… alright.”

If the Alpha said he was too delicate, then he must be too delicate.

Min Yang bent down and found a pair of slippers for the little stammerer. After thinking for a moment, he also fetched a pair of cotton socks from the bottom drawer in the wardrobe. Only after wrapping the little stammerer’s feet warmly did he feel satisfied. As he stood up, he met the little stammerer’s bright eyes.

The Alpha’s frown deepened, “What are you looking at?”

The little stammerer smiled, “Th-thank… thank you… Mr. Min.”

The little stammerer’s smile was truly beautiful, spreading from his eyes and lighting up his whole face with joy.

The Alpha’s throat went dry, and he suddenly felt a surge of energy. Any thoughts of setting boundaries with the little stammerer were long gone, and before he knew it, he had once again scooped the little stammerer up in his arms.

On the way downstairs, the Alpha “slipped” once more, and the little stammerer’s arms instinctively tightened around his neck, his warm breath falling against the Alpha’s neck like the soft huffing of a kitten—ticklish and strange, sending a similar ticklish sensation through Min Yang’s heart.

Min Yang glanced at the now-completed descent with a hint of regret that he couldn’t “slip” again.

It seemed necessary to rebuild the stairs, making them longer and steeper, the Alpha mused to himself.

“Mr… Mr. Min, pl… please put… me down now,” the little stammerer said after the Alpha’s pause stretched on.

“Oh, right.” The Alpha placed the little stammerer at the dining table.

Tang Zhe sat at the table, but Min Yang didn’t leave. He remained standing behind Tang Zhe. Tang Zhe, puzzled, turned to look at the Alpha, “Mr… Mr. Min, is… is something… wrong?”

Min Yang replied, “No.”

Tang Zhe persisted, “Re… really… nothing wrong?”

The Alpha’s expression grew frustrated, his lips pressed into a thin line, “Never mind.”

He couldn’t possibly tell the stammerer that he’d forgotten to say thank you, could he? That would make it seem like he cared too much about getting a “thank you” from the little stammerer!

Right, and the little stammerer hadn’t smiled at him either.

Feeling even more annoyed, Min Yang gruffly ordered, “Eat!”

Tang Zhe, not understanding, suddenly recalled what the butler had said earlier—that Mr. Min had made breakfast today. The little stammerer’s eyes flickered with understanding, and he tentatively spoke, “Th-thank… thank you… Mr. Min… for… for bringing me… down…stairs.”

“And… and for… preparing br-breakfast.”

Though Tang Zhe’s words were halting, the sincerity in his eyes as he looked at the Alpha was undeniable. Anyone meeting Tang Zhe’s gaze would instantly feel the Omega’s genuine gratitude.

The Alpha’s face remained cold, but his harsh tone softened slightly, “What’s there to thank for that?”

Min Yang huffed, as if he truly didn’t care, “It’s nothing.”

Tang Zhe replied, “But… but I still… want to… thank you, Mr. Min… I’m… very… very happy.”

The Alpha didn’t respond, but somehow, Tang Zhe got the impression that Min Yang’s mood had improved a bit, though his face still showed the same stern expression. The butler, with perfect timing, stepped forward and served the breakfast the Alpha had prepared. The meal wasn’t complicated; Min Yang had little experience caring for Omegas, and after last night’s exertions, he had only prepared some light dishes—a melon and three-fresh soup with a few soft egg pancakes.

Tang Zhe was genuinely hungry after last night’s activities. Despite having had a nutrient pack in the middle of the night, its taste was far from satisfying. The little stammerer took a small sip of the three-fresh soup, savoring the rich flavor of the milky-white broth. He couldn’t help but give a thumbs up.

Tang Zhe: “Mr… Mr. Min… you’re… you’re amazing!”

Though the Alpha showed no reaction, as if he didn’t care, he did give a faint “Mm” in acknowledgment.

Two seconds later, the Alpha couldn’t resist glancing over at Tang Zhe, “Ahem, do you really like this?”

Tang Zhe replied, “I… I do.”

Min Yang: “Oh.”

Min Yang added, “That butler of yours… he can’t make this kind of melon and three-fresh soup.”

Min Yang continued, “He only knows how to cook Western food.”
