The banquet held by the Lu family was low-key, but luxurious. All guests were friends from their circle, and the banquet was meant to draw Shi Yi into the Lu family’s social circle.
Now that Feiyi is backed by the Lu family, the attitudes of these people also changed. Many sought Shi Yi out for cooperation, handing over their business cards and proposing projects requiring collaboration.
The second half of the gathering was still mainly focused on socializing, and the attendees were all big names in the industry with a long-standing relationship with the Lu Group. Several of Lu Yunye’s buddies were reluctant to attend given the heavyweights present, and planned a separate party to celebrate.
Shi Yi received several big orders overnight, with more companies expressing their interest to learn more first. The Sika fashion show planned a few days later became an important assessment target.
On the other hand, Shi Jinpeng and Shi Du were left alone, and couldn’t interject anywhere
Shi Jinpeng originally wanted to gain the favor of the Lu family, so those old business hegemons would open their doors. Unexpectedly, he was politely rejected several times, without even giving out a business card.
Lu Yunye seemed to have ceded benefits to the Shi family, but in fact he drew a clear line with the Shi family by withdrawing in the joint venture.
The banquet was filled with smart people, who could see Young Master Lu’s thoughts at a glance. And those with previous business dealings with the Shi family simply buckled down and said nothing.
“Okay, I understand, thank you.” Shi Yi held a clipboard and a business card, knowing that the people in front of him were not to be neglected.
An old director with a background in fashion design grabbed Shi Yi’s time, and talked for a long time. The atmosphere in the business circles is very chaotic these days, everyone is focused on making money, and few really keep their original intentions in mind.
Lu Yunye watched Shi Yi standing under the glass ceiling lamp, listening carefully, with a focused expression like an attentive student.
The old director’s mouth was a little dry from all the talking so Shi Yi brought over a glass of water, and expressed some of his own opinions.
He has always faced work with a serious attitude, especially with employees, giving people a calm and reliable feeling. Compared to running a company, he still prefers design, but he had to step down from the position of lead designer to pick up the company reins.
Lu Yunye forced himself to turn his eyes away. He didn’t expect Shi Yi to look like this when he talked about something he was interested in. His eyes were bright, and although his tone was still unhurried, his excitement couldn’t be hidden. Like a child who steals an adult’s clothes, deliberately pouting to look mature.
After two more hours, the banquet finally ended. The city also fell silent by then, illuminated by the full moon overhead, and the light strips in the distance looked like long dragons.
Shi Jinpeng wanted to leave a long time ago, but he stayed in order to not lose his momentum.
After so many years in business, this was his first time being treated like this. It was more uncomfortable than a slap on the face. When he saw Shu Wen who was smiling in a wheelchair in the distance, negative emotions flashed in his eyes.
It’s all Shi Yi’s fault for him losing face tonight. Now that the little bastard is married into the Lu family, it’s not easy for him to retaliate, so he can only redirect this anger to someone else.
He called Shi Du to his side, “Go and push Shu Wen over, let’s go.”
Shi Du nodded, and walked towards Shu Wen, thinking about how to distract the omega wives around him.
Halfway there, he was stopped by someone.
Lu Yunqing’s red dress swayed delicately, but her aura was not weak at all, “Brother, are you feeling bored? The exit is over there.”
Shi Du froze in place, and unconsciously glanced at his alpha father.
Shi Yi had already walked behind Shu Wen, tightly holding the handle of the wheelchair. “Dad, come with us.”
Shi Jinpeng finally burst out of anger that had been held all night, pointed at Shi Yi and cursed, “Little brat, don’t think that I can’t do anything to you now that you have the Lu family backing!”
“When have you escaped successfully before? Even if you take him away today, I’ll get him back tomorrow!”
“In order to save your omega father from suffering, you’d better let go as soon as possible!”
Shi Yi’s breathing sped up, his knuckles turned slightly white from exertion.
Shi Jinpeng was right. No matter where they hid before, they would always be found by the Shi family. As an alpha with an almost fanatical obsession with his partner, Shi Jinpeng can’t even tolerate Shu Wen leaving his sight.
In order to take Shu Wen away, Shi Yi was even beaten, put in a sack, and thrown into an alley before. But the most serious time was when Shi Jinpeng almost strangled him to death.
Since then, Shu Wen’s desire to escape diminished greatly. He was desperate, but he wasn’t willing to see his child suffer, and would always tell Shi Yi that everything was okay. Even now, his face was indifferent, without any superfluous emotion, contrasting greatly with Shi Jinpeng’s anger.
Shi Yi closed his eyes, trembling all over, head pounding from the stress reaction. If it weren’t for the support of the wheelchair, he feared he would have fallen to the ground.
Someone started whispering, and more curious eyes fell on the Shi family trio. No matter what, the secrets of these wealthy families are always gossip-worthy materials. Lu Yunye selecting someone with Shi Yi’s background is already surprising, and they didn’t expect the elders behind him to be like this.
Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Lu Yunye walked to Shi Yi. Cedar pheromones gradually diffused, fresh and cool, with a hint of mint, calming down the restless emotions in the air.
Lu Yunye put his hand on the back of Shi Yi’s hand, covered his cold fingertips with his warm palm, and said in a low voice, “It’s okay.”
Shi Yi was finally able to free one hand to pinch the space between his brows, and wipe the beads of sweat on his forehead. In fact, he didn’t hear what Lu Yunye said at all – everything was pitch black, and he just wanted to get over the dizziness.
Lu Yunye steadied the wheelchair with one hand, and held the omega with the other. His drooping eyelashes and shadows left a touch of gloom in his expression as he lowered his eyes.
One of the omegas nearby unconsciously took a step back.
This seemed to trigger a chain reaction, and the crowd dispersed in a flurry, leaving a small space devoid of people.
“Yunye…” Xiao Ting was worried, and wanted to step forward to persuade her son.
As a result, her wrist was held back, Lu Feng poured another pot of tea, “Just leave it up to the kids.”
The Lu family has always followed a freestyle of educating their children. Lu Yunye grew up in the military compound when he was a child, but because his glands developed slowly, he was often bullied and beaten by others. Despite that, Lu Feng did not change his child rearing practice, and left the younger generation alone to solve the problems themselves.
Shi Yi’s feet felt weak, so he unconsciously leaned on Lu Yunye’s shoulder. Steadied by the firm embrace and cocooned in the scent of pine, Shi Yi took a few breaths, and his eyes gradually became clear.
He moved the fingers held by Lu Yunye, “I’m much better.”
“En.” Lu Yunye nodded, and let him go only after he could stand up completely.
Shi Jinpeng’s turned cloudy and uncertain when he saw all this.
“Let’s let Uncle Shu say where he wants to go.” Lu Yunye said.
Yeah – ignore that scum!
