“Ah?? What knife?” Yin Tongguang looked completely confused.
“Any knife will do.”
As long as it shuts this idiot up in front of him.
Liang Yan’s tone was cold and menacing.
He finally understood why he had been so irritable.
It was probably because after meeting Ji Qiu, his level of irritation had just gone up a notch.
And Ji Qiu, reading the mood, quickly wiped away the tears threatening to spill from his eyes, replacing them with an innocent and carefree smile. “Yan Yan, no, let’s talk this out.”
Liang Yan didn’t even want to acknowledge him and just kept walking ahead.
Yin Tongguang hurried to catch up, still clueless, and fanning the flames. “Ah? Yan Yan, what kind of knife do you want? Scissors, scalpel, or a fruit knife? I’ll get it for you!”
Meanwhile, Ji Qiu was still on the verge of tears, whining, “Yan Yan! I was wrong! I shouldn’t have said that!”
Liang Yan paused for a moment, then turned around and asked coldly, “Then how were you planning to say it?”
Lai Qiutong was struggling to hold in her laughter, enjoying the show from the sidelines.
Ji Qiu had a look of determination, as if ready to face death. He confidently declared, “I deserve for you all to fight for me! I deserve it!!”
Liang Yan: “…………”
Yin Tongguang finally realized, albeit a bit too late, that his roommate’s anger had already reached a whole new level.
Liang Yan turned around and, with a cold expression, took two steps toward Ji Qiu.
Ji Qiu cautiously took two steps back, but his mouth didn’t stop. “Did I say it right this time QAQ?”
“……”
Perfect.
Liang Yan wanted to hit him.
He really did… he just wanted to rush up and start punching this guy in the face.
But, after all these years, even throwing the late-night snack at someone’s face had been a first for him. His good upbringing stopped him from actually hitting Ji Qiu, leaving him only able to stew in his anger.
How should he hit him?
With his fists? Kick him? Throw his bag at him?
Forget it, let’s just roll up the sleeves first.
Liang Yan paused for a moment, then began to slowly roll up the sleeves of his shirt.
Yin Tongguang didn’t expect that Liang Yan was really serious about hitting Ji Qiu. He quickly stepped in between them, blocking Ji Qiu. “Yan Yan, don’t be impulsive! Hitting an Omega is illegal!”
“I’m also an Omega,” Liang Yan replied coldly. “I’ll hit him first and talk later.”
It seemed that Ji Qiu had just noticed the murderous intent coming from Liang Yan. He started to smile awkwardly, stepping back little by little. “I’m sorry! I really am! I won’t say anything anymore!”
“It’s too late,” Liang Yan said, not bothering to look at him. He glanced at Yin Tongguang. “Move.”
Yin Tongguang couldn’t allow two Omegas to start fighting in front of him. He quickly grabbed Liang Yan, while shouting to Ji Qiu, “Hurry up and run! Yan Yan is really angry!”
Ji Qiu looked like he was scared out of his mind, his legs going weak. He quickly nodded. “I—I’ll leave now! See you next time, Yan Yan!”
Without even looking back, he quickly scampered off, his voice trailing away as he ran.
Liang Yan watched his lucky escape, a regretful expression crossing his face. “……”
After the whole drama settled down, Lai Qiutong, who had been watching the spectacle, walked over with a smile and said to Liang Yan, “That’s great, it’s rare to find someone who can handle him.”
Liang Yan turned away, nodding politely.
After a moment’s thought, he again thanked her, “Thank you for what happened today.”
Though Lai Qiutong’s intervention was likely because of Ji Qiu.
“No need to be so polite, I told you it’s fine,” Lai Qiutong said with a smile. “Don’t be mad about what happened earlier. Xiao Qiu is like that often. He’s not a bad person, really.”
His character isn’t bad, just his brain isn’t all there.
Liang Yan suddenly wondered how Lai Qiutong could possibly like Ji Qiu.
It seemed Lai Qiutong could sense his thoughts. She continued, “But people might misunderstand the relationship between me and him. I really just see him as a friend. It doesn’t matter if others don’t understand, but I thought I should explain it to you.”
Liang Yan lowered his eyes and simply hummed in response.
What does it matter to him?
But he didn’t ask further, feeling like he had cleared up some concerns in his mind.
“I’m heading in the same direction, let’s go back together,” Lai Qiutong said. “Don’t worry about what happened earlier, I’ll handle it.”
Liang Yan understood that she was trying to comfort him. He looked up at her face and sincerely responded.
Lai Qiutong, with her high emotional intelligence and wit, chatted and laughed on the way back with him and Yin Tongguang. She even exchanged contact information with them, her demeanor graceful and approachable. By the time they returned to the dorm, Yin Tongguang had developed a great liking for her.
Liang Yan, on the other hand, had already finished washing up and was getting ready for bed. Just as he was about to fall asleep, his phone by the pillow buzzed with a new message.
【Ji Qiu: Yan Yan!】
Liang Yan couldn’t be bothered to reply.
But Ji Qiu didn’t seem to mind, sending another message.
【Ji Qiu: Good night QAQ】
Liang Yan stared at those three letters, accompanied by Ji Qiu’s smiling, cheerful Shiba Inu profile picture…
He eventually managed to get a good night’s sleep.
A few days passed, and Liang Yan didn’t receive any messages from Ji Qiu. As usual, he met up with Yin Tongguang to go to the classroom for self-study.
This classroom was a special place Liang Chen had arranged for him—quiet and not as crowded as the library, plus the door code wasn’t widely known. Liang Yan usually chose this room for his revision.
Yin Tongguang was still sleeping, but Liang Yan had woken up early. He decided to come in ahead of time, opened his book, and began studying in the empty yet well-lit classroom.
However, not long after, that familiar feeling he despised started creeping up on him.
He furrowed his brows, realizing that his heat had arrived.
Thankfully, he wasn’t too worried—after all, he always carried suppressants in his bag.
Before things started spiraling out of control, Liang Yan opened his bag and began rummaging through it.
But there was only one left.
He froze in panic, trying to recall why he had forgotten such an important thing.
As usual, when he anticipated his heat approaching, he would check in advance and make sure he had enough suppressants. He wouldn’t make such a mistake.
In fact, when he left the house today, he had even intended to add a few more to his bag.
Then it hit him.
After Ji Qiu returned two suppressants to him, he had casually put them in his dorm’s cupboard. Because he had checked everything thoroughly, he had rushed out a bit too quickly today. He had already taken them out and placed them on the desk but forgot to actually grab them when leaving the room.
Damn it.
Without hesitation, Liang Yan injected the one suppressant he had, intending to call Yin Tongguang to bring more over.
But one suppressant did nothing to ease the symptoms.
Yin Tongguang didn’t answer his call, and Liang Yan’s Omega instincts surged uncontrollably.
Soon, with one hand gripping the desk, Liang Yan felt the heat and thirst rise within him, his throat feeling tight and constricted, accompanied by the unbearable physiological reactions.
He tilted his head back, staring at the white ceiling, and for a moment, felt a sense of disorientation.
Grinding his teeth, Liang Yan was relieved that there was no one else in the classroom. He grabbed his phone, quickly sent another message to Yin Tongguang asking him for help.
The message was sent successfully. Liang Yan tossed his phone aside and started taking shallow breaths, trying to wait out the wave of sensation.
But gradually, his awareness started to fade due to the overwhelming heat.
Liang Yan’s heat had always been more intense and rapid than other Omegas, which was why he needed suppressants more frequently.
His fingers unconsciously intertwined, the tips of his fingers burning, offering no relief for his current situation.
He started to breathe heavily, trying to swallow as he closed his eyes, attempting to push through the strongest wave of pheromone-induced sensations.
The smell of mint could no longer cover it up—it burst open like an explosion, filling the entire room.
He was surrounded by the scent, which, although refreshing under normal circumstances, now felt like a raging wildfire consuming everything.
In his daze, Liang Yan felt someone open the door and walk in.
His eyes filled with some physiological tears. Without looking up, his tone was slightly relieved, and he asked, “Yin Tongguang?”
After a moment, he guessed the direction of the door and called out, “Help me.”
But the person who entered was strangely silent.
Liang Yan was briefly puzzled. When he opened his eyes, the mist in his vision prevented him from seeing clearly, but he could make out a figure walking toward him.
The figure moved slowly, as if hesitating.
Liang Yan didn’t think too much about it. Only Yin Tongguang and he knew the code to this classroom. He looked at the figure, vaguely sensing that Yin Tongguang didn’t seem this tall, but still extended his hand and said, “Give me the suppressant.”
The person, however, remained silent.
Liang Yan furrowed his brows, his body overwhelmed by wave after wave of heat-induced responses. His throat felt hoarse. Just as he was about to say something, a new wave of intense heat surged through him, making him shiver uncontrollably. He leaned weakly back against the chair.
“You…” Liang Yan barely managed to utter that one word before all sound faded away.
The person gently touched his arm, a soft and restrained gesture.
And with just that touch, the already overwhelming pheromones he was releasing couldn’t be contained, spilling out along the person’s fingertips.
The touch was cool, and though the movement was light, it had the same effect as the final nudge that topples a line of dominoes. In an instant, Liang Yan felt a tingling sensation spread across his body, his vision blurred, and his mind seemed to explode with sensation. His pheromones flooded outward in a way that almost felt like it might tear the roof off the room.
This reaction… could not possibly be from Yin Tongguang.
Before Liang Yan could process anything further, his thoughts dissipated.
The person finally, with great restraint, reached out and placed their hand on his shoulder, slowly pulling him into a half-embrace.
Liang Yan felt a soft, teasing sensation on the back of his neck. Then, there was a sharp pain as his gland was pierced by a set of sharp teeth. The subtle sound of the bite reverberated in the stillness.
It was an Alpha!
But Liang Yan didn’t have the chance to struggle or even fully process the shock before an entirely new, overwhelming sensation swept through him. It overshadowed the initial pain, like a blazing fire ignited by dry brush, its flames running rampant as it overwhelmed him with irresistible pheromones.
“Mm…” Liang Yan squinted his eyes, unable to stop a soft, low moan from escaping his throat. His hands instinctively gripped the desk to support his weakening body.
His entire body went soft, and he couldn’t muster any strength. Even his other senses grew faint, except for the pheromones entering his neck, which was the only tangible sensation at that moment.
His waist began to tremble, his knees bending, and even his feet, still in shoes, tensed uncontrollably.
It felt like a dying traveler in the desert finally tasting fresh, cold water.
It was like standing under a towering waterfall in the forest, the weightlessness and the impact of the pheromones causing him to be lifted high, then crash down again with force.
At the same time, Liang Yan finally recognized the familiar, yet strange pheromone.
A unique and intense scent, unmistakably overwhelming, enveloped all his senses.
It was the scent of rosemary.
