TBA Chapter 48

Injured

Lu Xiaowan went to Xiao Tang’s house, only to find no one there. She grew even more frustrated—was Xingzhi staying at that other woman’s place?

It was already dark, and here she was, a girl walking around in a bathrobe. Before long, some unsavory men approached her, trying to strike up a conversation.

She tried to shake them off and kept walking, but suddenly, it was as if her body was moving on its own, turning back toward one of the men. She was confused—Jiang Xiaosi’s spiritual strength wasn’t particularly strong, so it had been easy for her to take over the body. But why was it now acting out of her control?

What she didn’t realize was that the man had RH blood, and the now instinct-driven Jiang Xiaosi, fully overwhelmed by desire, was drawn to the scent. Lu Xiaowan’s control couldn’t compete with her overwhelming craving for RH.

Seeing her approach him so innocently, the man’s eyes lit up. Her bathrobe exposed a long stretch of smooth, pale leg—she was clearly underage! His mouth practically watered. Without hesitation, he pulled Jiang Xiaosi into his arms and, seeing no one else around, leaned in to plant a kiss on her face.

Inside, Lu Xiaowan was screaming, ‘I only love Xingzhi! I don’t want to be in the arms of this ugly old man!’

Jiang Xiaosi instinctively dodged the foul-smelling mouth and bared her teeth, ready to sink them into his neck.

Suddenly, a furious shout rang out from behind.

“Jiang Xiaosi! What are you doing?!”

Jiang Xiaosi flinched, snapping back to her senses, instantly pushing Lu Xiaowan aside.

Lu Xiaowan, realizing it was Shen Mo, shrank back in fear, not daring to move.

Jiang Xiaosi, still regaining her awareness, found herself being held by a strange man, with his wide, slobbering mouth looming over her. She reflexively punched him in the face but couldn’t pry off his strong, iron grip.

At that moment, a shadow loomed over them. The stranger froze, slowly looking up, only to be hurled five meters away, landing on his back. Terrified by the sight of the black-clad man exuding a murderous aura, he scrambled to his feet and fled.

“Jiang. Xia. Si!”

Shen Mo, gritting his teeth, grabbed her by the collar of her bathrobe, glaring at her with fury.

Lifted onto her tiptoes, Jiang Xiaosi’s legs went weak with fear as she waved her hands, shaking her head frantically. “It’s not what it looks like! It really isn’t…”

“Explain yourself!”

“I… I don’t even know how I got here…”

“Dressed like this! With that kind of man, out on the street, getting all cozy—are you brainless? Don’t you understand what danger is, what it means to have self-respect? Or did you know I’d be here and wanted to piss me off on purpose?”

Shen Mo had never been this furious. Jiang Xiaosi was being shaken around like a little chick in his grasp, inwardly crying out that she was being wronged.

She had just suddenly felt a chill, lost consciousness, smelled the scent of RH blood, and then when she came to, she was in this ridiculous situation, with Shen Mo walking in at the worst possible moment. Even if she explained herself, it was as if she’d fallen into a trap that couldn’t be undone.

“I swear, I don’t know him! I’m innocent! Waaah!” Jiang Xiaosi was on the verge of tears.

“Don’t know him?” Shen Mo thought about how their lips had nearly touched—those same lips he had kissed not long ago!

His heart was full of anger and frustration. He wanted to throw Jiang Xiaosi into a pond.

“How old are you? Can you please stop doing these stupid, reckless things?”

Jiang Xiaosi was left speechless, not understanding why she was always misunderstood by Shen Mo. First, it was the pregnancy test kit, then the pregnancy rumors, and now she had been caught in this situation.

“I really don’t know anything! I didn’t know you’d be here, and I don’t even know where I am right now. Please believe me! But what about you? You said you were on a business trip, weren’t you?”

Or was it all a lie, and he had told Chen Anyuan to trick her?

“Yes, I wasn’t on a business trip! I just didn’t want to see you!”

Jiang Xiaosi felt an overwhelming wave of sadness, her nose stinging as tears threatened to fall.

“Then why do you even care? I don’t need your help! I can get cozy with whoever I want!”

Shen Mo nearly lost his mind. “You…!”

At that moment, there was a ripping sound as the front of her bathrobe, which he had been gripping, finally gave way under the strain, exposing her smooth, fair skin, which shone brightly under the streetlights.

Suddenly, the world fell silent. Both of them stood frozen in embarrassment. Shen Mo quickly let go, roughly wrapping her in his coat. Seeing her standing there, trembling—whether from cold or fear—half of his anger dissipated. Like before, he scooped her up under his arm, fuming as he walked off.

Jiang Xiaosi bit her lip, not saying a word. She was both angry and upset. She missed the times when she used to be someone’s “briefcase” but that someone never believed her, always misunderstanding her, and couldn’t wait to send her away.

They walked in silence for a long time, the atmosphere heavy. Jiang Xiaosi tried to convince herself that Shen Mo was only so harsh because he cared. Since she was about to move away, she wanted to leave on good terms. Otherwise, it would become a regretful memory.

With her head lowered, Jiang Xiaosi realized she was already used to being carried like this by Shen Mo, used to watching his footprints on the ground behind them. She couldn’t resist reaching out and wrapping her arms around his waist, feeling him stiffen slightly in response.

“Where are you going?”

Shen Mo hesitated for a moment, adjusting his tone before answering. “Koudan said Lu Xiaowan would definitely go to Xiao Tang’s place today, so I went there to catch her.”

“Then why aren’t you going after her? Where are we going now? My house isn’t in that direction.”

“My house.”

Jiang Xiaosi paused, thinking, ‘What does he plan to do, taking an innocent girl back to his place at this hour with barely any clothes on?’

Inside Jiang Xiaosi, Lu Xiaowan grew even more frustrated. He was planning to capture her! If she went to his place, she’d be trapped like a fish in a barrel!

Determined, she decided to go all out. ‘If I have to, I’ll risk everything!’ She suddenly seized control of Jiang Xiaosi’s consciousness, and her nails grew long, aiming a deadly strike at Shen Mo’s back.

But Shen Mo swiftly caught her hand, twisting it back without hesitation. He slapped a blood talisman onto Jiang Xiaosi’s forehead, sealing her movements.

“Lu Xiaowan.”

Lu Xiaowan glared at him resentfully. “So, you knew it was me all along?”

Shen Mo’s voice was cold. “The corpse aura gave it away.”

Lu Xiaowan felt wronged. ‘The aura is Jiang Xiaosi’s, not mine!’

“And yet you still pretended! You Daoists are too deceitful!”

Shen Mo didn’t respond. The truth was, he had been so furious that he hadn’t noticed anything amiss at first. It wasn’t until he was carrying Jiang Xiaosi back that he began to calm down and realized something was wrong. He could only blame himself for being too careless—whenever Jiang Xiaosi was involved, his usual sharpness deserted him.

Now that he had trapped Lu Xiaowan in Jiang Xiaosi’s body, he planned to force her to return Xiao Tang’s spirit. If she refused, he would make her do it. Shen Mo was not one to show mercy.

He twisted Jiang Xiaosi’s wrists together, intending to drag her forward.

But then, Jiang Xiaosi’s eyes suddenly fluttered open, her gaze innocent and confused. She furrowed her brows slightly as if in pain, looking up at him.

“Tutor?”

Shen Mo hesitated for a split second, loosening his grip. Lu Xiaowan seized the opportunity, thrusting her hand forward. Though Shen Mo caught her in time, her nails still managed to pierce through half of his body.

The thick scent of RH blood filled the air, snapping Jiang Xiaosi back to full consciousness. She looked down at her hands, feeling warmth and wetness—when she raised them, they were covered in blood.
